The wait is over! The first major content update is available
It does ot only come with the planned roadmap progress, but also with several improvements and smaller new features based on our communities feedback Note: Make sure to update to the 0.703 version. WORDS FROM THE DEVS
We continue to work on improving the game like adding more descriptions for the future updates and also implementing feedback. However, it is important to mention that we are a very small team and unplanned/additional things can take time. Our main focus is on the roadmap leading to the 1.0 release and bug fixes. So even if we can't/don't reply to feedback threads: We read them! And maybe some of you will notice that your ideas have already made it into the game. We also use this occasion to thank all who got Ova Magica and played it already during Early Access. As small indie dev with a debut title your trust means a lot to us and supports immensly the development and translation costs for the full release. Please also consider leaving a Steam review if you enjoyed playing - it helps a lot !
NEW ROADMAP CONTENT
First we want to share the updated roadmap with you! Side note: we moved the 6th blob world from the 0.9 to the 1.0 version because we want the time between 0.8 and 0.9 shorter an it feels more balanced with each update leading to 1.0 having one new blob world. Attention: Below the roadmap pic are descriptions with SPOILERS of the new content! Stop reading here if you do not want to be spoilered.
NEW BLOB WORLD: CANDY KINGDOM
The adventurers Cenx and Redigit need your help to get their blobs back who stayed behind in the Candy Kingdom blob world. The new blob world comes with several unique rewards like cute furniture, cherry tree seeds and an auto-petter blueprint.
SEWERS
The sewers come with new blobs and also an upgrade for your return wand.
With the new Homeward Wand you can now teleport to your house from any location, and not only use the wand to leave the blob worlds.
NEW BLOBS + ABILITIES
You can collect 7 new "base blobs" coming with 4 new abilities in the 0.7 version. Here are the new abilities:
- Candy Blob: Produce Candy (Passive)
- Poop Blob: Fertilizer: Progresses the growth of crops by 1 day (only once per day per crop
- Dog Blob - Plant Seeds: Plant several seeds from the player's bag at once (Multi-Planting)
- Queen Blob: Petting Chain (Passive) - When petted it affects all blobs in the same barn and team. A blob with this ablity can be placed on the new Auto-Petter (blueprint), which will pet all blobs in the barn overnight.
BLOB DYE CENTER
You can comission Charoi to build the building. In it you can recolor your blobs in exchange for color powder to your liking.
14 NEW FRIENDSHIP EVENTS
Level 3: Jade, Saphir, Charoi Level 4: Jade, Ruby, Saphir, Garnet, Lazuli, Carnelian, Jasper, Charoi, Opal, Citrine Level 5: Saphir Buildings: Beachside Eatery (Saphir), Library (Opal) Note: The Library is similar to the Theater (Citrine) still WIP and will get more features for the 1.0 version or in one of the next updates.
BEACHSIDE EATERY
Progress Saphir's friendship to unlock the new building "Beachside Eatery". It comes with several new dishes (seasonal variety) and learnable recipes.
HOUSE UPGRADE
Comes with more place and most important a new fast travel point on your farm!
GOLD CUP TOURNAMENT
Test your blob trainer skills in the Gold Cup tournament! (unlocked with all NPCs friendship being level 3)

FAST TRAVEL REVAMP
- The fast travel target location is now selected via the map and not like before via dialog
- Fast travel is now also possible on festival day
- Added new fast travel location "Train Station" near the museum/train station area
- 1st house upgrade comes with the "Farm" fast travel location (see above)
FLINT BLOB STORAGE
Instead of giving blobs up for adoption you can now store up to 256 blobs at Flint and get them back anytime. The usual "give blob for adoption" is now a 2nd step. Note: All blobs given up for adoption before the 0.7 version are in the "Flint Storage". When a player has given up more then 256 blobs for adoption the oldest are permanently removed from the game.
STORAGE CONTAINER/CHEST BLUEPRINT
Can be placed on your farm, home or blob barn and store 16 items. Recolorable.
VARIOUS
- Added "Stack Transfer" to the magical storage and shipment box. Holding the "Transfer (Single)" button for a short time will open a dialog box in which you can enter the exact number of items you wish to transfer.
- A "Breeding/Searching for partner" icon is now shown in the blob barn UI on blobs (to avoid moving blobs which are currently breeding)
- Added a magical storage to the ruin
- Wild blobs in the mine now stop chasing you after some distance
- Confirming escape in battle is only asked when not other blob is already trying to escape (avoid having to confirm 3 times)
- Added a "Cancel" choice for the thermostat in the blob barn (when accidently interacting with it)
- Reduced all blob rune prices (vendor: Harold - Adventurers' Club)
- Reduced the material costs of several buildings (Charoi)
- Changed type of the Sheep blob from Storm to Forest
- Changed type of Kookies Dessert blob from Magma to Storm
BUG FIXES
- Fixed missing fish in the Ceres season for the lake near the mine/train station area.
- Fixed hills in the Clover Valley area having wrong seasonal grass texture in Ceres and Frigus
- Fixed using fertilizer on flowers which were at stage 2/4 instantly progressed them to 4/4
- Fixed missing movement collider for the table blueprint available at the Sleigh Swap festival
- Fixed right+left stick deadzone being not active on Steam Deck which caused camera rotation being too sensitive (rotated vertical too when wanting only horizontal)
- Fixed reordering blob skills didn't work correct for skills at the right and bottom position

This update took a bit longer than for my usual pace. After the launch i really needed a break and decided to take some time off from game dev. But now i'm back - refreshed and motivated to continue working on Ova Magica!
I also take this occasion to say a HUGE THANK YOU to all players who leave in the Steam Forum or in our Discord feedback and report bugs It helps immensly improving the game. Even when the team can't reply to all feedback: We read it 100% and also have several things planned for the next updates. So please continue posting when you notice things.
This update brings mainly bug fixes and some smaller improvements. The main dev focus is now to work further on feedback but also mainly to focus heavily on the next big roadmap content update (0.7).

QUALITY OF LIFE + IMPROVEMENTS

- increased sprinkler feeder size from 1 to 4
- increased compost bin size from 4 to 16
- fixed that plant fields being in a sprinklers range which had no food were not considered as watered even when raining or being watered with the watering can
- fixed blob energy was set to 99 when a blob with a higher energy used a blob ability
- fixed bgm and disabled weather sounds not behaving correct when being in blob games
- fixed duration of the light bait ability area (angler blob) was also reduced when being in battle

New / Balancing / Improvements
- added "Harvest Wind" ability to crow blob which can harvest full grown crops
- crop seeds item description text now has info in which season the crop grows and how many days it takes to full growth
- increased duration of the angler blobs "Light Bait" ability from 30 sec to 1.30 min
- added confirm messages before escaping battle
- fixed sleep status effect being possibly endless when blob was not attacked during battle. Blobs now wake up after some time on their own.
- added additional warning text before starting a tournament that trainter+blob level will increase after winning the tournament
- "Botanist" skill shows now one day less on tress which cannot grow to full stage - so it is more clear you have to wait til next day for the tree to continue to grow when having space again
- dish "Saphir's Special" now also cures blind status effect (like base indigridient oyster)
- fixed money in shipment box were gone the next day when not collecting it
- fixed that you could walk trough the museum building
- removed that "Explosion" ability of the bomb blob affected crops/could be used for harvesting and destroyed not grown crops

New Skills
With the new "Botanist" skill you can now display crop and tree information when hovering over them with the cursor in the workbench mode.
The new "Battle Analysis" skill allows displays the type and power level when targeting a blob in battle.
Note: All skill points will be reset when loading your save file. You need to unlock the skills in the menu/inventory in the skills category.
New Battle Difficulty Setting
Based on the feedback that the early game or specific bosses are too hard for some players we added a new setting.
You can change it anytime in-game which can especially help when you are stuck on blob world bosses or want to feel safer when fishing and exploring. The setting needs to be set BEFORE the battle (in battle the settings menu is not available).
Bug Fixes + Balancing
Shooting Star Event
- There is now a small possibility that in addition to copper ores other ores drop depending on blob world progress. Beating 1st world boss ->unlocks iron ore, 2nd world->unlocks gold ore.
- Improved items falling in not reachable areas a lot (it can still happen very seldom - but should be now an exception). This makes also makes collecitng items easier and more convenient.
- Fixed that item drop rate was scaled based on real-time and not game-time which resulted longer/shorter day duration settings to not have the intended spawn rate and dropping way more items. Intended is t get 5-11 star shards in one event (1-2 wishing stars) when really searching/trying to collect the items
- fixed fruits falling sometimes trough ground when shaking trees
- fixed bug that one blob of the arrogant girls trio wasn't shown as unlocked in the resident overview when photographing it
- fixed bug that when eating in Restaurant with 2 instead of 3 blobs in your team one blob was placed on the gound with no food.
- balanced health increase for feeding blob cravings: - simple/not-cooked food: +2 (before +1) - cooked food(2 ingredients): + 3( same as before) - cooked food(3 ingredients): + 4 (before + 5)

New item: Wishing Star
Have you ever gazed up at Clover town's night sky hoping to catch a glimpse of a shooting star? And in that quiet, hopeful instant, it feels like anything is possible and that maybe, just maybe, your (blob egg) wish will come true ! This part contains spoilers, so if you prefer finding out yourself do not click : [spoiler] We got a lot if feedback the current 2% egg drop rate from wild blobs is too low. This won't change and it is intended for blob eggs to feel rare and special. But there is now a new item in-game which will help you to 100% get your desired wild blob egg: During the shooting star event in addition to copper ores now also "Star Shards" fall from the sky. They can be melted with the furnace into a "Wishing Star". Using the Wishing Star on a wild blob will guarantee it 100% dropping an egg after the battle (careful: do not waste it on bosses).[/spoiler]
New: Choose your difficulty for the Night of Roses festival game
We got a lot of feedback regarding the rythm arrow game being too hard - so hopefully the new change will help with this You can now choose between 3 difficulties: Easy, Normal, Challenging (was the only default before). Easy difficulty offers in addition to way less arrows also a bigger area/time window for hitting the arrows. (Note: You can get the same reward when scoring A , regardless of difficulty. The reward is not unique/missable in case you prefer not playing the game)
Improvements + Balancing
- mouse cursor is now only confined to the game window when playing with the settings Fullscreen and not for windowed modes.
- items dropped during shooting stars have now an additional visual effect for better visibility + slightly bigger collect radius
- basketball mini game is now slower
- Replaced Sleeping Powder skill from Mystic Forest blob world boss to make it slightly easier
- reduced Pirate Island blob world wild blob level by 3.
- reduced growth level of unripe palm tree fruits in Pirate Island blob world

- fixed sliding puzzle not stopping time when standing on an empty field
- fixed that blob product, eggs and poops sometimes were moved out of the visible blob barn area and barnd couldn#t be cleaned/cleared

- fixed a bug with apple trees on Jades farm causing the game being stuck on loading screen when trying to enter Clover Valley

This update has several changes to gameplay, all based on the most requested feedback As devs the team is a bit anxious with changing things because it's always a risk some players enjoyed it the way it was and prefer no change. But we decided to take the risk based on the feedback players provided. Ova Magica is still in Early Access so this changes do not need to be final and the team continues to improve the game. (Notes: You can get all changes in your current save file, no need to restart if you do not want to. Make sure to update to 0.625 version: If Steam doesn't do the update automatic close and restart Steam. On Steam Deck sometimes the Deck doesn't start games after updates, in this case restart the Steam Deck.) FEEDBACK: First blob world is too hard Changes:
- Lowered Mystical Forest wild blobs level slightly (stage 1: level 12-15 instead before 15-18)
- After visiting Mystical Forest blob world there will be a gift in the mailbox to help with it (when you return to your farm)
- In the blob world the UI now also displays the wild blob level of the current stage (see upper left corner) - so you can better estimate if your blobs are strong enough
- Doubled(!) experience when using a skill in battle. BUT:
- A skill can now level up only once per battle to avoid endless leveling in a single battle (stat values are now leveled at the end of battle for each skill being at 100% exp)
- Reduced most building prices (Charoi)
- Reduced blob world rune costs (Harold)

BIGGEST CHANGE - FEEDBACK: 4 day weeks are too short
Change: Season has now 20 days instead of 12. So the main reasons why players didn't like 4 days weeks was not having enough time between the festivals for other activities and feeling rushed (+it also being a lot different from most farm sims). BUT increasing week length was not a good option because: At the beginning of a week a lot respawns like foraging items (herbs, mushrooms, flowers, sand, oysters and and and) and also the mine ores. So increasing the week length would result in waiting longer for the new items and would have negative effects on the gameplay - it was no option. So there are now 2 additional weeks per season without festivals which increases the season length from 12 to 20 days and is now closer to the "usual" farm sim experience. Now you have some extra days to do all the things you want + more times to grow crops and profit in one season before crops wither on season change.
To all who liked the fast pace with every week having a festival: Don't worry! For full game there will be still smaller events in this weeks so they wont get boring too! Just not in a festival style but smaller things (as example a special merchant visiting Clover Town). Feel free to share your ideas for this smaller events! (Note: When loading your save file you will start in the week of the same festival before - so week 1-> week 1, week 2-> week 3, week 3-> week 5) VARIOUS IMPROVEMENTS + BUGFIXES
- added a 3rd skill to Jades blob Clara
- swapped "Sleep" and "Save Game" choice when interacting with bed/tent to avoid sleeping by accident.
- fixed missing pumpkin seeds in Jades store
- fixed rain sound being also played in blob world when visiting on a rainy day
- fixed timer not running in stacking ring game
- fixed that empty steamboard and watering can were refilled when moving to magical storage
- fixed strength bar not hiding after canceling hammer mini game with blobs
- fixed sound settings not affecting egg logo animation sound in title screen

Release week is very busy so i can't dev as much as i want - but still wanted to deliver the second patch fixing some of the more major bugs like crashing or hindering to progress quests. i work further on feedback and bug fixes and try to catch slowly up during next week . Can you believe it? We've been counting down, and it's finally time - Ova Magica is out now in Early Access! We have a lot to share coinciding with this huge milestone for the game.
Firstly, if you've played the demo, then you should know on top of all the new content added for this release, there's been tons of changes to the game based on player feedback. If you missed it, you can read the developer's update log detailing these changes in yesterday's dev update.

We use this occasion to highlight below some of the gameplay improvements the dev team already made since the demo for the EA launch tomorrow.
Game Improvements
Thank you to all who played the demo and provided feedback in the forum. We could already improve several things since the demo for the Early Access launch tomorrow. Here is a little overview for you of the most important (not content-related): Revised UI for mouse controlling Battle and dialogs can now be controlled fully with mouse without having to use the keyboard (you can still use the keyboard). All UIs have been reviewed to offer buttons which can be clicked with the mouse to control it as alternative without having to press specific keyboard keys. Added shop symbols to NPCs Characters selling items have now an icon over their head.
Improved Player Movement Collision You are now able to pass trough more narrow gaps than in the demo which feels more natural and also prevents to being "trapped in the wilderness" (:-P) when going to the back of your farm. Example: In the demo passing between the tree and mud pile wasn't possible.
Balanced week length Instead of 7 days a week has now 4 days. This results in seasons changing faster, festivals occuring more often and has a lot of benefits. Festivals help with raising friendship of all NPCs and faster changing seasons add more variety to the gameplay. And in case you missed unlocking things in year 1, you also don't have to play as long anymore to reach year 2. (Info : Day length itself was not reduced.)
Key Remap You can now remap in the settings menu your controls both for mouse + keyboard and controller.
Photosensitivity Improvements Removed blob flashing in battle when selecting a target and blobs taking damage. Added in the settings menu an additional setting "Reduce flashing lights and effects" to disable also over-world some effects. Adding warning + information at the beginning of the game about photosensitivity.

Hi everyone! This is just a quick announcement that the extended time period for the demo's availability will end on July 12th. As such, we want to let everyone know they should try the demo now if you intend on playing it, as it will removed after that date. The reason for this is that going into Early Access (and even now in a pre-launch state), we have made and continue to make significant improvements to the game (especially from a QoL standpoint), and do not want to leave up a demo which is not reflective of the full game. As a reminder, we are still launching on July 23rd!! Mark your calendars! Leading up to the launch we will have a countdown to remind everyone, and we'll have some other surprises to reveal. See you then and thank you all again! Your feedback for the demo has been instrumental in delivering numerous improvements and fixes for our upcoming launch.

We're happy to be participating in the "Games Baked in Germany" event, which runs from June 20th to June 27th. As the development team is based out of Germany, we felt very proud to be able to be apart of this event.
We're also simultaneously very happy to announce that due to overwhelmingly positive feedback on the demo and demand from players, we've decided to leave the demo up instead of taking it down after the Steam Next Fest. We're extremely happy to have collected so much feedback from the demo during the Next Fest, and appreciate everyone who played.

Dev update:
As already communicated in the last update of 2023, i currently can't share much new things with you because we need the "new stuff" for marketing. It's sometimes hard to hold back because i have actually A LOT new amazing things but needed to restrict myself here a lot.

Improved breeding symbols
Instead of an egg you can now see the progress (in days) towards the new egg.
And maybe some of you already noticed: the new egg is purple. Now "base blob" eggs are green and all brood eggs are purple.
Character creator
Polished the character creator more and added more options. I separated the "glasses" from the "accessoires" (flower icon) category so you can have even more freedom and options. Also added various new outfits + stuff.

The Ova Magica Preview Demo is playable at PAX East!
At the Top Hat Studios booth you can try out a bunch of fun games. Other than Ova Magica, you can play Tiny Life, Elementallis and Athenian Rhapsody.

New Locations
I'm still working on filling the world of Ova Magica with life. I share with you some new places you can visit. Beekeepers The beekeepers are side NPCs which know all about bees and bee blobs and sell bee related products and blueprints. [previewyoutube=Jh6re-n606E;full][/previewyoutube] Mine The inside isn't fully finished yet, so i can't share it yet. But here is the entrance and also a new fishing/lake area. In the mine you can gather coal and some common ores. But to get the rarest and most valuable ores you still need to visit the dangerous blob worlds.
New Feature: Fast Travel
In Ova Magica, time runs in days and seasons like in a typical farm sim. So every hour in the game is valuable. The Steamboard is your best friend for moving faster. The new fast travel feature now allows you to additionally skip long distances. [previewyoutube=2-aaPYKoDE0;full][/previewyoutube]
All potraits done
Our artist Ichigo*ranch has finally finished all the character portraits! There are currently 131 high quality hand-drawn portraits in the game! And most of them are completely different in pose and expression (not only facial changes). Also each romanceable character has a unique swimwear and wedding outfit. I'm showing some of Citrine here because she hasn't gotten that much attention yet.
New Battle Skills
There are many blobs and even more skills in Ova Magica. Here is a selection of some new ones that were added in May. (I am still experimenting and working on the battle balancing. So do not wonder when some numbers appear odd, like too low or high. All skill videos represent a test situation for development.) Hacking Lowers all stats of one enemy. Other stuff
I can't share everything we work on in the updates because it's either still very WIP, not so relevant or i am just too busy to record so many videos and write a lot of text. But here are some other things which happened in May: - Created around 7 new side NPCs for the town - The writers worked A LOT on side NPCs and character dialogs the last weeks - Until now battle skills had a fixed strength/attack number. This was replaced by a strength/attack grade (A-F) which you can improve solely with breeding. You can see the change in some of the battle skill videos above but it's still WIP. New Feature: Mailbox
In some cutscenes and events, you will receive items even though the inventory is full. These are now sent to your mailbox. It would be a pity to use the mailbox only for this purpose. What do you think about occasional letters and gifts from friendly NPCs?
New Feature: All side NPCs can level up after battle
The NPCs in Clover Town all have their own blobs and you can challenge them to a battle. However, not all of them are equally strong. Defeating the frost prince and current Clover Cup champion Lapis is almost impossible. Some Npcs, on the other hand, don't take their blob training too seriously and are easy opponents. What is special in Ova Magica: If an NPC loses a fight against you, they will level up and I will be stronger next time. So there is always a challenge waiting. New Festival: The Night of Roses
The famous performer duo Alto and Altair visit Clover Town and need a third for their show! The theme of the night is all about roses and music. You can also buy special items and blueprints.
In a mini game you and your blobs have to prove your skills by pressing buttons to a rhythm. Depending on your performance, the crowd reacts differently. In February I (Claudia) worked on numerous improvements and features for the barns! In contrast to a previously fixed and expandable building, blob barns of various sizes are now available as a blueprint in the workbench! Which means what? You can place as many as you want and where you want! [previewyoutube=IfbDGCvlRG8;full][/previewyoutube] To make it easier for you to find a particular barn, you can now also change the icon. Do you have any particular icon suggestions?
A big change from before, and something not found in many farming games, is that you can now decorate your barns just like the house by placing items over the workbench! You can place functional items, like a feeding station, but also decorative items. Your Blobs will feel happier if a barn matches their preferences. [previewyoutube=6zJziD-jpEk;full][/previewyoutube] I also implemented blob pooping :-D When Blobs are fed, they will poop overnight. Keep the barn clean, otherwise your blobs won't feel comfortable. You can remove the poop with a shovel (this consumes stamina). [previewyoutube=je0ciCkvqp0;full][/previewyoutube] It is even easier when you unlock the blueprint for a litter box (several sizes can be found). Blobs then make their poop in it and you can easily empty the container in one go without using up stamina and time. Also a blobs mood doesn't get affected by poops in a litter box (so you avoid to having to empty it daily). [previewyoutube=kL4Y8AESguw;full][/previewyoutube] And what do you do with the poop? You can use it as fertilizer, for example. One idea from the community is a compost pile that produces fertilizer over several days. What do you think of this idea?
Blob Mood and Products
Some blobs produce items overnight in a blob barn. A new addition is that the pig blob produces meat. Do not ask about the logic, we do not slaughter blobs;-P!
For this they must be fed and their mood must not be bad. If its mood is at the highest level, it may happen that a blob will produce a very special item( secret:-) ). Also blobs need to be in good mood to breed and the highest mood guarantees a better result.
Several factors influence the happiness of a blob (Icons from left to right):
- Barn decoration: When a barn is decorated with things a blob likes, its mood is higher
- Temperature: If the temperature is too different from the one a blob wants, it will be unhappy (see more below)
- Barn Cleanness: Each poop in the blob barn reduced the blob mood. Poops in the litter box, do not affect mood
- Affection: Petting a bob raises the mood and a blob is sad when it gets neglected for too long
Barn Temperature
Different blobs have different preferences for temperature. Some like it especially warm, others cold. The mood of a blob is better the closer the temperature is to its preference. If the temperature difference is too great, a blob is unhappy and will not produce items. The temperature in the barn depends on the seasons. However, you can influence it with items, such as an air conditioner. Be sure to keep blobs with similar temperature preferences together in a barn. In the video, the player checks the temperature of the barn (upper left corner in the UI- still WIP), then the mood of the cow blobs. Then they place an air conditioner, which changes the temperature from warm to comfortable, and the mood of the two cow blobs rises [previewyoutube=96mujPZZ5zA;full][/previewyoutube]
New fish: Shrimp
You can now also fish for shrimp and use them to cook several dishes. [previewyoutube=sXhfH6VInV8;full][/previewyoutube] Some of you may have noticed the new beach texture in the video. Several of you found the old beach too colorful, so the texture has now been changed Again thank you for your feedback on this!
"Shiny" Blob Experimentation
When you breed blobs you have a very small chance for a especially strong result due to mutations(comparable to shiny Pokemon). I am still searching for a good name and also experimenting with effects. I tried a rainbow effect but i am not happy yet (it's maybe too bold and "agressive"). But still wanted to share with you the first steps

Our artist Ichigo*Ranch also created new swim/beach wear potraits for Lapis, Opal And Jasper!

Character Icons
We are currently working on a mini map and a lot on improving the UI. For this Ichigo our artist has created an icon of each romanceable character.

Battle Status Effects
In December we worked on adding new status effects tom the game: Shield, Sleep, Blind and Confus: Shield This status effect protects your blob and make it less damage. [previewyoutube=oA115cZuDUM;full][/previewyoutube] Blind If a Blob is affected by the blind status effect, there is a high chance that it will miss attacks. The effect can be cured by items. [previewyoutube=GN6kLsmDh_E;full][/previewyoutube] Confus A confused blob does not follow orders in combat and randomly attacks friend or foe. The effect lasts until the end of the battle or can be cured by an item. [previewyoutube=X2IC_eTr41c;full][/previewyoutube]
New Blobs
Also this month, we have created some new blobs. For the first version of the game, 75 basic blobs are planned, which you can combine as often as you like by breeding. Galaxy Blob This blob literally comes from another galaxy. It is said to have mysterious powers. Supposedly, the galaxy blob can communicate with others of its kind between worlds and also receive signals from space.
Cactus Blob The catus blob prefers warm and dry climate and can be found mainly in desert regions. It is peaceful as long as you keep your distance. But if you get too close, you will feel its spikes - which hurts quite a bit!
Fox Blob This blob lives in forests and can be spotted in all seasons. But it is rare and only a few are lucky to find one. The annual blob beauty contest in Clover Town has often been won by a fox blob, especially its tail looks graceful.
Weather Blob This blob is so rare that little is known about it. Legends say it can influence the weather...
Blob ability "Love Spell"
In many farm sims it is very hard to befriend Npcs. In Ova Magica the cupid blob comes in handy! Its ability "Love Spell" increases the friendship level with Npcs - however, only once a day. [previewyoutube=uqvvFMGf2uY;full][/previewyoutube]
Closet
We also added working closets to the game. When you place a closet into your home you can use it to change your outfit and accessoires anytime. [previewyoutube=YxB1r8fW2EA;full][/previewyoutube]
Battle Skills
We also added many new battle skills for the blobs. Peacock Blob
This blob is highly demanded among the noble and the rich. The larger the feathered tail of a peacock blob, the more valuable it is. Specially rare ones have a different coloration and their blob eggs fetch top prices at auctions.
Lotus Blob
The Lotus Blob lives in ponds and lakes and is said to have healing powers. People often do not notice it, because at first sight it is hard to tell it apart from a lotus.
Fossil Blob
You can find this blob mainly in excavation sites and desert regions. No one knows for sure if the fossil blob is ancient or just wears the bones as a costume to look more dangerous...
Fox Blob
This blob lives in forests and can be spotted in all seasons. But it is rare and only a few are lucky to find one. The annual blob beauty contest in Clover Town has often been won by a fox blob, especially its tail looks graceful.
Deer Blob
This blob is mostly found in packs and is timid and cautious of humans. The deer blob prefers to flee before attacking, but cornered it will not hesitate to use its antlers!
Fire Blob
The fire blob is as dangerous as it's handy. It's often used by cooks to heat ovens or in factories to melt metal. It's also highly popular among trainers! With its powerful fire attacks, you'll quickly have an upper hand in battle.
Squirrel Blob
If you walk through the woods in the autumn season, you are sure to encounter a group of squirrels blobs. They are curious and nimble, and before you know it, they have already snatched your food.
Music Blob
This blob is often used in concerts, as it can make a wide range of sounds. In battle the music blob relies not on brute force but its musical skills. Its lullaby can put even the most fearsome opponent into a gentle sleep.

Scorpion Blob
This blob is small, but it makes up for its size with its aggressiveness! If you encounter a scorpion blob on your adventures you should think twice if it's worth a fight. His venomous sting can quickly weaken your entire team.
Dog Blob
The dog blob is very loyal and enjoys training. That's why it's the perfect beginner blob for children or unexperienced trainers. Unfortunately, the dog blob sometimes tends to chase things or steal food...
Hen blob
This blob lays small eggs that can be used for cooking. It is popular with the farmers of Clover Town and the eggs are sold at the local market. As soon as the hen blob mates with another blob, it lays a larger blob egg.
Cupid Blob
It is said that its magic can ignite the flame of love. In Clover Town, the Festival of Lovers is held annually. As a tradition, people get blessed by cupid blobs in the hope of finding true love.
Cheetah Blob
The cheetah blob is difficult to tame, but also a very strong fellow in battle, whose attacks are based primarily on speed. It is especially popular amongst treasure hunters, as it can dodge traps well and escape quickly from dicey situations.
Clover Blob
The clover blob is so rare that some do not believe that it really exists. People say that its owner will be fortunate forever.
Beach Blob
You can't tell by looking at it, but the beach blob can master strong water attacks, which makes him a popular companion amongst trainers. Until they notice that it's pretty relaxed and doesn't really try hard in battle....
Baby Blob
Full of curiosity, the baby blob explores its surroundings and approaches people without shyness. Being small and fragile, it is not a danger. But where there's a baby blob, there's a mommy not far...

Day 1 - Acorn Blob
When the foliage turns golden and the leaves begin to fall, the acorn blob comes out. It has a friendly and curious nature and likes to greet hikers wandering through the woods.
Day 2 - Cactus Blob
The catus blob prefers warm and dry climate and can be found mainly in desert regions. It is peaceful as long as you keep your distance. But if you get too close, you will feel its spikes - which hurts quite a bit!

Wedding Outfits WIP
Our artist IchigoRanch has worked on some more beautiful wedding outfit potraits of the romanceable characters. Of course, we don't want to spoil the big moment in the game for you and so there is only a small teaser of the outfits!
Swimwear Outfits WIP
Also almost all the girls' swim outfits are ready. Only Opal is still missing. For all those who ask themselves "Where are the male outfits?": They are still in work and as soon as they are ready we will show them to you of course. Do you already have a fav outfit? Egg Hatching
We regularly try to improve the game and have added the following feature for you: Until now, if you found a new blob egg, you had to return to your farm in the blob barn and hatch it there. Now, if your team is not yet full, you can hatch the egg at any time! Especially at the beginning of the game you are very excited when you find your first egg and don't want to wait so long. Side NPCs
Behind the scenes, we worked a lot on planning, creating the supporting characters and their dialogs. For this purpose we have hired a new team member! In the coming updates there will be more about this and the first results in the game!

Bugs of the month
The good news is that the intro and farming tutorial is done! The bad: Our starter Blob had a different opinion. It was cheeky and escaped the tutorial bounds! But in reality Achira, the cheetah blob, just moves faster than the blink of an eye;-) [previewyoutube=QUndnddWskM;full][/previewyoutube] (Fortunately, we have already fixed both bugs).

New Blobs, Characters and Interiors
We are working hard to bring a variety of different blobs already in the Beta. In October, these three new blobs were created: Hog Blob, Dessert Blob and Beach Blob. See them below in that order!
Which one is your fav?
Our artist Ichigo has also finished the portrait for Coral! Coral is Pearl's younger sister. She is the leader of the adventurers club and has a strong and fierce personality! To match her personality, her own personal blob is a Cheetah!
We also worked on the adventurers club interior which is also an orphanage! The members are one big family and the children love to listen to the stories of the adventurers.
Character Creation
We finally got around to pulling the character creation interface out of prototype status! The base UI is ready, but we are still working on adding more colors, outfits, accessories and styles for hair, eyes and beard. There will also be an option to choose your own color and not only the preset ones! In the video below you can get a first impression of the character creation. And don't worry all the options are not gender locked! Also the current colors are a small selection for testing, there will be of course more colors available

Game Intro
Until now, you were dropped into the middle of the story in the game. In October we worked mainly on the game intro! You arrive in Clover Town and of course you get to choose your first Blob! Here are a few impressions (but we do not want to spoil too much, so there is only a small insight)!

Hi everyone! This is a big update and includes quite a bit of stuff, so sorry for the delay! Formatting to Steam with the amount of images was also a hassle. Firstly, Ova Magica now has a professional writer - Meet Renkka! Renkka is a writer who specializes in visual novels and character-driven narratives. She's worked on games such as BTS Universe Story, Bistro Days, and Mizari Loves Company. Renkka enjoys writing about anything from coffee shop romances to thrilling paranormal adventures, and, now, about the wonderful, colorful world of Ova Magica! Her creative inspirations (and all-time favorite titles) include Pokemon, Ace Attorney, Danganronpa, and The House in Fata Morgana.
The last weeks we have already worked diligently on the events of the romanceable characters. Here are some teasers for you!
New Blobs
There are some new blobs as well! Birthday Blob For your (in-game )birthday you will get this special blob
Lotus Blob These blobs live in the pond and do not like to be disturbed. They are not necessarily the strongest but the fight with them should not be underestimated. Due to their special skill "Healing Lotus" they are especially dangerous in groups. (You can see more about the lotus blob below under "Fishing").
Orca blob These blobs are spotted near Clover Towns's beach, especially during the winter season "Frigus".
Many wished for a shark blob but there will be none base blob in the game. However, you can breed the orca and tiger blob relatively easily into a tiger shark themed blob. Here is an example:
Sheepo blob Cute and fluffy and it can produce wool!
Wedding Outfits
Our artist Ichigoranch has started drawing the first wedding outfits.
I don't want to spoil the special moment for you, so I'll show you only small teasers of the outfits. But I can assure you, they are gorgeous!

Fishing
Some time ago I asked you for ideas and feedback for the fishing system. Most of you wanted a simple system and no complicated mini game. Thanks to your feedback I could now finish the base and I present you here the new mechanics! 1. Watch where you throw your bait!
Blobs don't like to be disturbed and can get angry when something hits them in the head!
2. Watch the bait closely! In the video below you can see that the color of the exclamation mark changes. If you press at the "right" moment (black) then you catch a fish (or sth else). If you press in the "wrong" (red) a battle starts. So watch the bait well! I have intentionally chosen that you can see when a blob bites so that you can avoid the fights. However, through the battles you also have the possibility to get some blob eggs... so what will you hunt - fish or blobs?
Usability Improvement
You can now challenge characters to battle with a simple button press instead of a tedious dialog selection! The test video below shows you how it looks.

Hi everyone! Here is Ova Magica's periodic development update for July-August. There have been quite a few things that have been worked on!
New Blob!
Here is a new Blob I added! The Squirrel Blob loves to eat nuts and feels most at home in the autumn season Ceres. I can't wait to see all the great blob combinations you will create by breeding it!
New Outfit and hair styles
The character creation has been extended by a new outfit and some hairstyles. How do you like our new outfit "Farmer Dress"? Of course more are in the works but this is a preview of what to expect! (Customization UI is still a quick prototype and not done yet. It will be reworked)
Romanceable Character Events
Work is progressing mainly on the events of the characters. You'll get to know the daily lives of your favourite characters and more about them as you progress down their quest lines! Here are a few snippets of cheeky blobs! Charoi's blob Oz loves to play pranks!
Saphir's Blob Chip loves fish!
Restaurant Activity In the restaurant, you can go out to eat with your blobs!
If your friendship with a character is high enough, the friendship (and date) activities will also be unlocked, and you can then go eat together in the restaurant. Hello everyone! This is our periodic development update for Ova Magica where you'll learn about some of the recent features and progress being added to the game! Do you remember one of the stretch goal features was the special photo mode? Recently I've been working on how this will work in-game! There will also be some funny moments and special objects like photo booths or cut-outs around Clover Town where you will be able to make special poses with your blobs and to capture these memories. There will also be several items in-game related to photography, so be sure to explore the world and market to make best use of this feature! The other thing being worked on are the building interiors and NPC houses. Everybody needs somewhere to call a home, no matter if it's yourself or one of Ova Magica's lovable NPCs! Each house communicates the character and personality of the person who owns it. For example, Garnet and Saphir's beachside eatery is sea themed, whereas Lazuli's room is cute and full of soft things. The soundtrack for the game is also being worked on and new music is arriving! Describing everything is one thing, but how about showing all of these things together? So that's why for this update we've compiled everything into a neat little video for you to watch. Hello everybody!
We are really happy to bring you a periodic development update for the game. Thanks to the success of fundraising efforts, development on Ova Magica is in full swing, with additional content being added that wasn't possible before! One of these is the Clover Town Museum.
Clover Museum Aquarium
First up, we are building the aquarium exhibit within the museum. Say hello to the Octopus!
This exhibit will allow you to help Emerald and the custodian catalogue the various different creatures living in the rivers and canals around Clover Town. As you help donate more to the museum, you'll see the tanks gradually fill it up with the fish that you donate! Perhaps as you help to document certain rare creatures, there might even be a reward in it for you?
As you can see, the room itself is a bit basic currently as a blockout, but the design of the aquarium tank itself is done. We look forward to showing you the finished design when it's fully laid out and decorated!
Fishing mechanics
Why work on the aquarium first? It goes hand in hand with the fishing mechanics, which are also being designed currently!
Fishing is of course, a key part of a farming game, and there's plenty of ways it's been done across all the farming games out there. In order to help with the development, you can give us your opinion!

You can grow crops and fruit trees and take care of your blob animals! Work hard to create your own dream farm! You need good products to produce quality feed for your blobs.
Blobs hatch from eggs and it's up to you to train them!
Unlike other games, you don't receive experience points after battle. To make your blobs stronger, you must feed them well, pet them and use specific skills in battles.
Your blobs can also help you with your farm work.
You can make friends and build relationships with different characters. Talking, battling and gifting increases your friendship and unlocks new events, places and more. There are wonderful stories you can experience!
Fight against other trainers and wild blobs. Experience a strategic Active Time Battle system with a little twist! Attacks throw you back to the ATB bar and can even cancel your current action. Think carefully when it's time to defend and when to attack. Also plan to use the right skill type to gain elementary advantages.
You can explore dangerous mazes where you can find eggs and rare treasures. These dungeons change every time you enter them! In the end a strong blob boss guards the rare eggs. A tough battle awaits you!
Grow stronger and unique blobs! You can crossbreed all blobs!
Create your dream team and become the strongest trainer.
Enjoy many wholesome activities like fishing, bug catching, cooking and more!
