Hi there! Are ya winning cleasunnies?
You have seen the Eight Curses of War Maiden; debuffs that will be present throughout these One Year Mission updates. Now, Clea's Quest is ready to drop, so let's take a peek today, shall we?
The Whitlock Mansion is filled with negative memories. Grief, anger, regret; feelings that allow chaos to brew. Clea, under the guidance of her new arcane teachers, have returned to purge this chaotic energy.
Her task will not be easy. On a distant land, rumors spread of a family who has opened a portal into the Fourth Dimension. As a result, there is now a rift in the Third Realm. In places where mana is ever present, a person may experience dimensional splits. You may step through a door only to find yourself in a different realm.
Clea's mission is enter the Whitlock Mansion, seek out the Chaos Crystals and expell the dark energy from them. As she does so, the clock tower in which she once lived will no doubt grow more dangerous. In time, War Maiden's curses shall claim the area. Once Clea determines it is too risky to continue, she has been instructed to escape.
What does this mean in gameplay terms? In Clea's Quest, the player's goal is to find the Chaos Crystal hidden within the clock tower. The Chaos Cleanser, given by the Arcane Servants, will hint at the crystal's location. Once you cleanse a crystal, it is on to the next one, and so forth. As you progress, War Maiden's curses will seep in. Once you decide it is time to flee, you will earn one of several endings depending on the number of crystals you have purged.
On a cool note, you can continue to obtain crystals past the best ending. That means the mode can be played over and over, as you can challenge yourself to beat your best record.
If you obtain the best ending in Clea's Quest, you will be rewarded with a new costume, the Blessed Dress, for Florine.
This dress is purely for cosmetics. It does not come with any abilities, but speaking of which, in the upcoming patch, costume powers will be listed as you pick your dress. What took so long? The truth is, I had never planned to create so many costumes for Clea 1 or 2. It is because of your support that I felt motivated to give back, so thank you!
Some other points to set expectations right:
- Clea's Quest is designed to be replayable (beat your best record, plus random curses on each run), but ultimately, it is a bonus mode. This is not an expansion pack, nor a full blown story continuation (like the Shadow Broker DLC from Mass Effect 2).
- Clea's Quest takes place in the clock tower from Clea 1, with brief trips to other dimensions throughout. For those not looking to challenge their best records, it can be completed quickly in one sitting (depending on your skill level, and the ending you wish to pursue).
- Clea's Quest is gameplay focused (with the replayability factor). I am thankful players have been so keen on Clea's lore, diving into deep discussions on our discord. For further lore/stories, that will take place in a future title, which is in the plans.

Clea's Quest will drop via a Steam update on July 11th (Aussie time, so late on July 10th in the US). The update will be available on PC first. Then, once builds are approved, the same update will go live on the Nintendo Switch and Xbox.
Once the patch is up, Clea's Quest can be unlocked by completing the "sacrifice" ending in the main campaign. If you have already obtained this ending, as soon as the update goes live, you will be able to access this new mode.
Thank you, and good luck have fun!
