Hey there! Hope you have been doing well florinesunnies.
Time sure flies, as we are about to hit Clea 2s one year anniversary. To celebrate, we have three new emotes to share:
The emotes were drawn by the super awesome horror vtuber + artist Noi! Make sure to drop her a follow: https://twitter.com/noireVT
These three emotes are now available on our discord, and our members in fact decided on which trio they wanted. Discord members are viewed as VIPs, often receiving news and updates before anyone else, so I would love to have you join us via this invite: https://discord.gg/Z2yP6fkqCr
Our newsletter subscribers receive the same merits in terms of early access to news, previews and sometimes even demos. You can subscribe via: https://invertmouse.com/
To those who wish to own these emotes individually, I got you covered:
Clea 2 turns one on the 25th of March. On this very day at 3:30pm EST, Noi will be streaming Clea 1 on her Twitch channel: https://twitch.tv/noi_vt
Horror vtuber Alice Sawyer will also be playing Clea 1 on March 23rd at 5pm EST: https://twitch.tv/alicesawyer
Alice and Noi both have wholesome communities. Please join them on these anniversary week events, as I am sure it will be a fun and social time!
If you are seeing this on Steam, I truly hope you can join our newsletter and/or discord. You see, on top of all the above, this is not the end of the Clea series quite yet. Because some of the upcoming news are not specific to Steam, as a matter of respect, I will not be posting about them there. Again, those VIP spaces are where you will hear all about them.
Many thanks florinehappy!
Hi there! Hope you have been doing good whappy. War Maiden Mode is now available on all platforms for Clea and Clea 2!
Clea has always been a skill focused title, and War Maiden Mode is the final test of mechanics as well as knowledge. I am so happy and proud to see players developing their skills, then not only conquering, but at times dominating every last available trial.
It has been too long since we last ran a fun community challenge, so let's have one with War Maiden Mode as the focus! Here is how it works:
1) Hop on our community discord: https://discord.gg/Z2yP6fkqCr
2) Check out the pinned message in the #challenges channel.
3) Read the instructions, then drop a reaction if/when you have completed the challenge. Please leave only one reaction per person excelia.
4) Once we hit our target, the community challenge is a success, and the reward will be dropped.
What is this reward? During Clea 2's development, we had a few gameplay related enemy sound files that ended up being unused. Though they never made it into the final product, there are some gems in here that deserve to be heard. Once the community challenge is complete, I will share these in a zip file on the same channel.
Thank you and have fun bibi!
Hey bud! Hope youre doing good. Trading cards are now available for Clea 2 on Steam!
https://store.steampowered.com/app/1257860/Clea_2/
Unlock cards while enjoying the game, then craft badges and receive drops such as backgrounds and emotes. I had a blast creating these, and I hope youll have just as much fun with using them. Good luck and happy earning!
Im always happy to receive questions asking if there will be a new Clea game. While our next title wont be named Clea 3, the connection will be evident. If youve enjoyed the lore of Clea 1 and 2, there are so many reasons to be excited cleasunnies.
Were at the start of a new and lengthy development journey. If youre keen to be among the first to receive every drop of detail, please consider joining our newsletter:
https://invertmouse.com
And/or our awesome Discord community:
https://discord.gg/Z2yP6fkqCr
These are VIP areas where members will get new info before anyone else. Also, if any beta tests come up, those will be the places where they happen.
Thanks and take care! Its back to work for me florinechaos.
Hey bud cleahappy! Hope you're doing good. The year is heading towards an end! Time sure flies when you're working daily.
Please note Clea 1 and 2 are now available in Italian (with Switch update incoming)! I hope through this, Clea and Florine's stories can reach more players, and we can continue to build our awesome community.
Speaking of which, I hope to drop monthly updates for our next project in our newsletter, and on our discord. It'll be quite a while until there's anything concrete or visual, so until then, these updates will be for the hardcore who needs to know every inch of progress. That way, when all's said and done, we have a full history to reflect upon and enjoy.
You can join our newsletter here: https://invertmouse.com/
And here's the discord invite: https://discord.gg/Z2yP6fkqCr
Many thanks cleasunnies!
(Please note the above contains costumes from both Clea 1 and 2.)
Hey buddy! Hope you are doing good cleasunnies.
As promised, the final, ultimate test of skills has arrived. War Maiden Mode is now available in both Clea 1 and 2. Please note I will be testing the console versions after this, so thank you for your patience, and you can expect the same patch to drop on those platforms soon.
In Clea 1, War Maiden Mode can be unlocked by completing the campaign with the best ending. In Clea 2, War Maiden Mode becomes available once you have conquered Clea's Quest with a silver or higher rank. Survive War Maiden Mode, and the War Gear will be yours. Let it be a proof of your dominance and mastery. The dress contain a cute little ability, which I will leave as a surprise excelia.
Alongside War Maiden Mode, I have applied a series of tweaks/improvements:
- When you are in an area afflicted with the noise curse, the background ambience will be replaced by chants (for clarity).
- The peek blocking corruption no longer denies you from looking through doors. This felt too unfair.
- Chaos Spiders will now flee, or at least fail to kill you, if they attack right as you are entering a door or closet.
- On Chaos+ difficulty, players will be able to sneak closely behind enemies without being unfairly killed.
- Chaos+ exclusive foes now have slightly different sounding footsteps so you can tell when there are multiple hunters in play.
- Revised the spawn times of some Chaos+ exclusive enemies to improve fairness.
- Minor graphical fixes to some costumes (the candle flames were too solid in a few).
- Fixed bug where on rare occasions, the player character flickers for a frame when a chapter is completed.
- Audio balancing for a lot of sound effects, many of which were too loud. There were also sound effects that would play twice in succession when they were not meant to.
Remember, the Gaia dress has also been added to Clea 1. Complete the campaign with one save or less, and the costume shall be yours. With this third update, there is no better time to re-visit both titles whappy.
What comes after this? There may well be more Clea related news. We always got work going on, and speaking of which, I should get back to it. Thank you and have fun bibi!
P.S. The Clea 1 and 2 artbooks have been updated with the new costumes, along with artworks tied to the One Year Mission. Hope you like them!
Hey bud! Hope you are doing good yoyo.
As mentioned last time, War Maiden Mode is about to drop. The new costumes had been ready for a while now, and War Maidens curses had also been programmed earlier for Cleas Quest. This should have been the easiest update, yet it turned out to be a lot of work. Why is that?
You see, I had to test War Maiden Mode on every difficulty to ensure things did not go out of hand. At first? Things went completely off the rails. Dare I say the mode on Chaos+ was nigh unbeatable. I mean, not even chapter one.
A load of balancing took place, and at last, the mode is ready. Please let me be clear, though. This is still the final, ultimate test. It is by far the toughest challenge Clea players will face. I borderline advise against tackling this on Chaos+ difficulty. There will be deaths, and you will feel frustrated. But, if you are one of the rare few who do survive, I acknowledge you as a true Clea master.
To aid you on your journey, I have compiled some tips in this article. Good luck and have fun. While the mode has been balanced to ensure luck is not needed, it certainly would not hurt.
Now, on with the guide (please note all the screenshots are from Clea 1).
Candle usage:
I have seen many players in streams hoarding candles. The sentiment is understandable. After all, I too can be a hoarder when I game.
Alas, this is not the time to be saving up. When you feel pressured, it may be time to light that candle. You will be hunted endlessly, so get used to it. Originally, some candles were set to be hidden on Chaos+. I have opted to re-enable them in the next patch, because you will need every last one. This is the tier of madness we speak off.
At the highest skill level, candles can be used to manipulate enemy positions. Each time an enemy flees, they will run to a different area. Lets say you use a candle, and your hunter runs to the left room, but you would rather he headed right. Well, remember how a candle stays on until you leave the area? You can always run around on the spot, lure the enemy back in, then see if they go right this time. Remember to be patient, and also, please note some foes are coded to roam within specific areas. If you cannot seem to persuade an enemy to run into a certain room, that could be why.
As you may know, unless you are on Light difficulty, or you have ticked infinite saves, each save is going to cost you a candle. It is not in my place to tell you how to play, but in War Maiden Mode on Chaos+, lets just say there is no shame in playing with infinite saves. On the off chance you actually clear the campaign on Chaos+ with limited saves, you are officially more skilled than the games creator.
Chaos management:
War Maiden has a curse that will cause your chaos level to rise, as indicated by the scars on your character. Normally, it would be best to use a potion to heal up right away. In War Maiden Mode, you may wish to hold off. After all, if you have to venture back into the same room, you receive the curse again. Or, perhaps the next room you visit will have that curse instead. Still, no sense in holding out forever, so spend wisely.
What do the scars actually do? In Clea 1, Cleas chaotic face will at times appear. In Clea 2, War Maiden may appear to stalk (but never kill) you. The effect is the same in both cases. When the curse triggers, enemies within the area will be alerted. Not exactly ideal when you are knee deep in War Maiden Mode.
Still, remember the curse timer resets each time you enter a room. This has two implications:
1. You can exit an area, then go back in, to reset the timer.
2. If you have already been in an area for a while, and you dread a curse may be coming, you may prefer to hide in a closet and wait for it to pass first.
Enemy control:
In War Maiden Mode, it is not enough to only know a foe has entered the adjacent area. Through audio cues, players must develop a telepathic sense of each enemys precise location. This guy is on the bottom floor, and that one is in the middle room. Okay, that means I have 10 seconds to go in here, grab this, and run out. This is the skill level we have now reached.
Also remember, there is no need to wait for an enemy to go a certain way. If they disobey, make them head where you want. Run to produce noise and attract your hunters. Use those sound makers (like the bathrooms). Employ balanced aggression.
Map knowledge:
Before you think about tackling War Maiden Mode, you may be wise to learn those maps back to front. In Clea 1, know the Whitlock Mansion like your own house. In Clea 2, every realm must become your second home. Each time you travel to another area, there is a chance a new curse will be afflicted. So, think twice before you enter a room. Maybe this area has items you can do without, or nothing at all. Tread with care.
Speaking of map control and movement, no sense in hiding the trick now. Yes, I am talking about the door swap move (the Logsync Swap) where you switch rooms at the same time as your hunter to evade them. For the sake of immersion, I advise against using this trick (unless you are speed running). Even War Maiden Mode has been designed to be beatable without this exploit. That said, War Maiden Mode on Chaos+? If you resort to this trick a time or two, no one will judge.
Final words:
To finish up, please let me reiterate. Yes, I have tested War Maiden Mode on Chaos+ to ensure it is beatable. Still, think twice before going in, because it will be hell and beyond. You know about the Master Levels in Doom Eternal? Recently, I had to train for about a month, running the map Taras Nabad over and over, before I was able to beat it on Ultra Nightmare. This is the level of dedication required to keep War Maiden at bay.
Hm? War Maiden Mode on Chaos+ with invisible foes? Okay, lets not get too crazy.
See you soon, pal. War Maiden Mode is coming whappy.
(The above screenshot is taken from Clea 1.)
Hello friend! You doing good sasa? The third and final update of our One Year Mission is just about ready for release, so today, I want to drop a little preview.
The final update will consist of a new challenge named War Maiden Mode. Guess what? The mode will be available in both Clea 1 and 2! How is it obtained? In Clea 1, War Maiden Mode unlocks after you earn the best ending in the campaign. In Clea 2, complete Cleas Quest with a platinum score, then War Maiden Mode will become available.
In War Maiden Mode, players are tasked with surviving the campaign, but with a twist. Each time you enter a new room, there is a chance that somewhere in the area, War Maiden has inflicted a new curse. These afflictions work in the same way as the ones in Cleas Quest. The longer you loiter, the deadlier the space around you becomes. In an act of mercy, the curses do reset each time you complete a chapter.
By the way, outside of Chaos+, every enemy will receive a speed boost cleachaos. I have been testing this mode a ton over the past weeks, and I can say this will be the greatest trial of all. Much harder than Chaos+, even with invisible foes. Outside of breaking the game, this is the final test. If you wish to prove once and for all you are a Clea master, your chance will soon come.
Of course, players will be rewarded for their efforts. By surviving War Maiden Mode, you will receive a mighty costume known as War Gear. Here it is for Clea 1:
And Clea 2:
The dress does have a cute little ability, which I will leave as a surprise.
Since Clea 1 will receive the same update, I took this opportunity to also add the Gaia costume:
Just like with Clea 2, players can earn this dress by completing the campaign with one save or less.
Now, when is this third update going to land? It should arrive on Steam on September 13th-14th. Straight after, I will run some final tests on the console versions (and also give it around a week for the update to be tested by PC players). I will then submit the patches, and soon enough, players on all platforms will be able to experience this ultimate test of skills.
Thanks and take care yoyo!
Hey bud! Hope you are doing good cleasunnies.
As promised, phase 2 of the One Year Mission has dropped on Steam. Here are the key changes:
- Cosmetic changes to Cleas Quest.
- The final chapter has been updated to introduce players to Cleas Quest, and the upcoming War Maiden Mode.
- Added a new dress, Gaia, which can be unlocked by completing the campaign with 1 or less saves.
Welcome back pal. Good luck have fun cleachaos!
(Please note on consoles, this update will come alongside phase 3, which is well on the way. Many thanks!)
Hey bud! Hope you are doing awesome cleahappy.
We are well past the half year mark. 2021 will end before we know it, so the One Year Mission clock continues to tick. Will we succeed? Thankfully, the phase 2 update is on the horizon. Lets take a peek today, shall we?
First, we have a cosmetic change. In Cleas Quest, many players took a while before they realized the Chaos Cleanser hints at where the next Chaos Crystal is located. You can look at the symbol inside for a clue, but this can be easy to miss. To remedy this in the next update:
- The symbols now glow more brightly, and in more distinct colors.
- The entire Chaos Cleanser will change colors to match the next realms.
Next, the final sequence of the main campaign has been updated. Throughout the chapter, you will take brief trips back to previous realms you had visited. The twist is, these realms will be afflicted with War Maidens curses.
Please note, these new areas will only increase the final chapters length by several minutes at most. The goal is not to pad out the content. Instead, the aim is to introduce players to War Maidens curses. This will prepare them for Cleas Quest and War Maiden Mode, which will be added in phase 3.
(Blurred to avoid spoilers)
Lets finish up with one more item. You see, the theme of phase 2, and this One Year Mission as a whole, is challenge. We had Cleas Quest, and we will end things with War Maiden Mode. These are answers to the top tier Clea players who destroyed the campaign with ease on launch day, and they demand to be tested. With phase 2, I have included a new challenge for you Clea masters.
If you complete the main campaign with one save or less, you will earn a new dress, simply known as Gaia:
I had considered making the rule with no saves, but I have granted you a small act of mercy! It is up to you, of course. By all means, earn it with a no save, no 1-Ups run. Do it on Chaos, or even Chaos+. When players unlock this dress, I want them to feel accomplished. How you achieve that is your freedom.
The phase 2 update will drop on Steam on August 12th. Please note on other platforms, I aim to combine phases 2 and 3, then release them in a single update. Phase 3 should be completed within the next month or two. Thank you for your patience, and please look forward to it.
Thank you cleasunnies!
Hey there! Hope you are doing good cleasunnies.
Phase 2 of the One Year Mission is well on the way. I foresee it may be ready in less than a month. It is a small update compared to the previous, which featured a brand new mode. Less of a load to share, so I want to combine details on phase 2 with other fun tidbits, then reveal them at our next community event:
Why is the date undetermined? I hope to let as many people included as possible, so this time, lets vote over on discord (#clea-2-phase-2-hangout). Here is the invite:
https://discord.gg/Z2yP6fkqCr
The event will take place there also. Please consider joining our friendly community!
Event agenda:
- Clea 2 unused sketches showcase
- Clea 2 fun things
- Phase 2 overview
- First! Phase 2 art reveal
After the One Year Mission, is that the end of all Clea related news? Friend, there is so much work going on daily. Please stay tuned.
Thank you and take care cleahappy!
Why hello there excelia. As promised, a Clea 2 patch has just dropped, with Clea's Quest now available as an unlockable bonus mode! Guide Clea in this replayable challenge as she purges chaos from the Whitlock Mansion. Clea's Quest can be unlocked by clearing the main campaign with the "sacrifice" ending, and if you complete this quest with the best possible conclusion, you will be rewarded with a brand new dress for Florine. Good luck have fun!
By the way, for you completionists, there is a new achievement associated with Clea's Quest. Please restart Steam if needed to trigger the update, then assert your dominance once more weedy.
This patch also comes with a couple of improvements:
- Costume abilities are now shown when you pick your outfit. Hidden on Arcade Mode, because costume powers are disabled there.
- If an enemy catches you while the screen is fading out (from a chapter being completed), it will no longer take away a 1-Up (since that would be unfair). Just like before, you also cannot be killed.
- On Invisible Mode, some enemies could not be seen even during cutscenes. This should no longer be the case.
Console players, please remember the Clea's Quest update will come at a later time. I will be running regression tests over the weekend to give everyone the best possible experience. Please look forward to it yoyo.
Since Clea's Quest has just launched, if you have any feedback, bug reports etc, please shoot them my way via the comments, or wherever else you see fit. As mentioned, Clea's Quest was always planned to be a bonus mode, not an expansion pack or anything of that quantity. Still, if budget allows, let's see what we can do.
It makes me so happy when a game I love receives updates post launch. Balance changes, new maps, modes etc. Business wise, can you do that forever? No. How about supporting a title post launch for around a year? That to me sounds healthy. This is only possible when your support justifies the effort, so thank you, this is for you. Please enjoy Clea's Quest, then after that, there is more work to be done. More fun to be had cleasunnies.
See you again soon whappy!
Hi there! Are ya winning cleasunnies?
You have seen the Eight Curses of War Maiden; debuffs that will be present throughout these One Year Mission updates. Now, Clea's Quest is ready to drop, so let's take a peek today, shall we?
The Whitlock Mansion is filled with negative memories. Grief, anger, regret; feelings that allow chaos to brew. Clea, under the guidance of her new arcane teachers, have returned to purge this chaotic energy.
Her task will not be easy. On a distant land, rumors spread of a family who has opened a portal into the Fourth Dimension. As a result, there is now a rift in the Third Realm. In places where mana is ever present, a person may experience dimensional splits. You may step through a door only to find yourself in a different realm.
Clea's mission is enter the Whitlock Mansion, seek out the Chaos Crystals and expell the dark energy from them. As she does so, the clock tower in which she once lived will no doubt grow more dangerous. In time, War Maiden's curses shall claim the area. Once Clea determines it is too risky to continue, she has been instructed to escape.
What does this mean in gameplay terms? In Clea's Quest, the player's goal is to find the Chaos Crystal hidden within the clock tower. The Chaos Cleanser, given by the Arcane Servants, will hint at the crystal's location. Once you cleanse a crystal, it is on to the next one, and so forth. As you progress, War Maiden's curses will seep in. Once you decide it is time to flee, you will earn one of several endings depending on the number of crystals you have purged.
On a cool note, you can continue to obtain crystals past the best ending. That means the mode can be played over and over, as you can challenge yourself to beat your best record.
If you obtain the best ending in Clea's Quest, you will be rewarded with a new costume, the Blessed Dress, for Florine.
This dress is purely for cosmetics. It does not come with any abilities, but speaking of which, in the upcoming patch, costume powers will be listed as you pick your dress. What took so long? The truth is, I had never planned to create so many costumes for Clea 1 or 2. It is because of your support that I felt motivated to give back, so thank you!
Some other points to set expectations right:
- Clea's Quest is designed to be replayable (beat your best record, plus random curses on each run), but ultimately, it is a bonus mode. This is not an expansion pack, nor a full blown story continuation (like the Shadow Broker DLC from Mass Effect 2).
- Clea's Quest takes place in the clock tower from Clea 1, with brief trips to other dimensions throughout. For those not looking to challenge their best records, it can be completed quickly in one sitting (depending on your skill level, and the ending you wish to pursue).
- Clea's Quest is gameplay focused (with the replayability factor). I am thankful players have been so keen on Clea's lore, diving into deep discussions on our discord. For further lore/stories, that will take place in a future title, which is in the plans.
Speaking of our friendly discord, please feel free to join us at:
https://discord.gg/Z2yP6fkqCr
Clea's Quest will drop via a Steam update on July 11th (Aussie time, so late on July 10th in the US). The update will be available on PC first. Then, once builds are approved, the same update will go live on the Nintendo Switch and Xbox.
Once the patch is up, Clea's Quest can be unlocked by completing the "sacrifice" ending in the main campaign. If you have already obtained this ending, as soon as the update goes live, you will be able to access this new mode.
Thank you, and good luck have fun!
Hey friends cleahappy! The trailer for Clea's Quest just dropped:
https://youtu.be/qEXtmiJ97gI
Thank you for your support, and please keep in touch. There will be details and release plans coming real soon! Remember, if you own Clea 2, this mode is as good as yours, because it will come as a free update. Please look forward to it cleasunnies!
Hiya bud! Hope you are doing well cleasunnies.
You have seen the Eight Curses of War Maiden from our past two articles. Now, how goes the first update, Clea's Quest? Let's break it down.
First, I may as well let you know; Clea 1 and 2 will soon support Italian cleahappy. I have been balancing this work alongside the One Year Mission updates. What else have I been juggling? Though I am not able to share yet, I can say the One Year Mission will not be the last bit of news you hear about. Please stay tuned.
As for Clea's Quest, I have only one step left, and that is to run a regression bug test across the entire game on all platform. By no means a small task, but the goal is in sight. After that, the first update will drop!
Since we are close to ready, there is also a Clea's Quest trailer incoming. You know, when I am a fan of a game, I want opportunities to be able to declare, "First!" The times I have gotten up at 3 in the morning for those Doom Eternal trailers, for example. I want to offer the same possibility to Clea players. If you have either:
1) Joined the Vinty Times newsletter:
https://invertmouse.com
2) Joined our friendly discord:
https://discord.gg/Z2yP6fkqCr
I am going to drop the trailer for Clea's Quest early in those venues next weekend. The trailer will then go public a while later. Whether you opt in early or not, please look forward to it.
Thank you and take care cleachaos!
Hello there! Hope you are doing good cleasunnies. We recently previewed some of the curses that will be present throughout the One Year Mission updates. Lets take a peek at the rest today.
(Please note: As the modes are still in development, all of the below are subject to change.)
Deadly Silence:
When that voice in your head pesters you without end, the calls can drown everything else out.
In-game effect: Sound cue volumes reduced to nearly zero, replaced only by dark whispers.
Maiden's Claws:
A clawed hand grips your shoulder, urging you to stop and embrace the chaos. One moment of weakness, and it could be all over.
In-game effect: Movement speed significantly reduced.
Omen Mirror:
Visions of a bleak future reflect inside your head. Lose faith and you may sink forever into the mirror world.
In-game effect: Movement controls are reversed.
Powerless:
Against the pressure of chaos, you may feel overwhelmed with despair. So much so, in fact, that some lose trust in their abilities. Without confidence, it is all downhill from here.
In-game effect: Players cannot peek left, right or through doors.
Progress continues to be made daily, so please keep an eye out for updates. Good luck have fun cleachaos!
Hey bud! Hope you are doing well cleasunnies.
A few weeks back, we held a lore Q&A on our discord. These hang outs are always fun, and I think it is time for another. Next weekend, let's have fun with a design Q&A!
When: June 5th 5pm (ET)
How long: ~1-1.5 hours
Discord: https://discord.gg/Z2yP6fkqCr
Channel: Current event > #design-q-and-a
Ask questions early at: Current event > #design-q-and-a-questions
In my 20s, no way will you catch me doing this. "Why should I help you? I am trying to get mine!" But you know, life is short. Games have given me so much, and I must contribute as much back as possible. I want to do so beyond my lifespan, and the only way to pull that off is to pass the knowledge forward. If, in a few years, a single person tells me, "Hey, thanks for the tips back then. I just got my first paycheck making games!", that would bring me the greatest pleasure. I am still primarily in the trenches, but yes, we have certainly hit a new phase.
Okay, see you at the event cleahappy!
Hello there! Hope life has been treating you well cleahappy.
We have been working daily on these One Year Mission updates. Clea's Quest, Chaos Enhanced, then War Maiden Mode. Please look forward to these drops, because this journey is far from over.
By now, many players have cleared both Clea titles. Some with all endings, others on chaos+, and a few even conquered them on invisible mode. You have grown into top-tier players. War Maiden is furious, and it is time for chaos to take its last stand. Lets look at some of the curses that will be present in the new modes.
(Please note: As the modes are still in development, all of the below are subject to change.)
Acid Rain:
War Maiden's whispers cause you to drown in hopelessness, like there is a raincloud stalking your every move. These may be illusions, but lose your cool, and there could well be physical consequences.
In-game effect: The player cannot stop running, causing both confusion, and all enemies nearby to be alerted.
Chaos Scars:
Even if one resists the temptations of chaos, the dark energy will still manifest in the form of scars. Complete immunity is nigh impossible. With War Maiden enraged, Clea and Florine may obtain these scars more frequently on their journeys.
In-game effect: Chaos level raised with each curse.
Dimensional Curse:
The chaotic voices threaten to lure you into the Fourth Dimension and beyond. Within the confusion, you lose track of objects from this third realm, even when they are in plain sight.
In-game effect: Shelters cannot be used.
Evil Eye:
As chaos eyes your movement, your vision in turn dims. After all, one must pay a heavy toll to resist chaos.
In-game effect: Vision range reduced to nearly zero.
Good luck have fun cleachaos!
Heyo! Hope you are well bibi.
A few weeks ago, I saw some lore discussions on our discord while I was on my exercise bike. Since I was stuck in one spot, we held an on the fly lore Q&A, and we had a great time. I got healthier, too, since I lost track of time and rode my bike for longer than usual clealol.
Clea and Clea 2 provide a glimpse into the history of mana, the conflict between arcane and chaos etc. These two games let us peek inside the world, yet there is a universe waiting to be unleashed. Whatever questions players may have, lets get them answered!
Discord link: https://discord.gg/Z2yP6fkqCr
Time: May 7th 5pm (ET)
Guide:
Please drop questions into the lore-q-and-a-2-questions channel. Multiples are okay, but ideally one at a time, plus nice and snappy. Questions can be posted on the day, or any time before that. I imagine most will be questions related to Clea's world, but feel free to ask about our other titles, too. Hope you can be there live!
On the day, lets hang out on the lore-q-and-a-2 channel. I will answer questions live there. Lets huddle up and have a fun time!
Meanwhile, Clea 2: One Year Mission has been progressing daily. I want to get way more done before I drop promo articles, so please stay tuned. There are other game dev related happenings, too. A busy life, and I would not have it any other way.
Thanks bud vintysmile!
Hi there cleahappy! Hope you are doing good, and I hope you are excited about the recent Clea 2 - One Year Mission announcement.
Just like with Clea 1, I am always happy to find fan art of Florine (or anyone else) in the sequel. Also, to promote Clea 2's release, we had some commissioned works created, too. I want to use this chance to share them with you. Enjoy!

Thank you, and keep in touch cleasunnies!
- Fixed a symbol in Dark Realm that did not match what was shown on the orb. - On invisible mode, some enemies were hidden even during cutscenes. This is no longer the case. - Improved layout of the "your pockets are full" popup. - D-pad and right analogue stick can now be used on the Xbox controller. If you already have save data, please go to settings, reset your controls to default, and they will work. - Bumped difficulty/pacing of Limbo Realm. Good luck! - Slightly increased difficulty of chaos+ mode. Good luck!
Why hello there! Hope you are doing cool whappy.
Intro:
Thanks to your support throughout Clea 1, I had the motivation needed to keep that game fresh. Chaos+, invisible mode, camera feature, the new costumes; these offerings came in the months after Clea's release. In truth, during Clea's development, those ideas never even occurred to me. See, when you are knee deep in development, especially during crunch, your mind will have no capacity for anything extra. Fix the bugs. Get the features done. Test thoroughly. That certainly was the case during those final few months before Clea 2's launch. I will always remember this; exactly 11 minutes before Clea 2 was released on the Xbox, I was in the office at my day job. Suddenly, a flood of ideas came. Wait, I can do this! Oh, what if we added that? Because things had winded down, I had the brain space needed for new ideas. I think they had been there all along, because they poured in without conscious thought. They were waiting at the door for space to free up. On a related note, I still recall how excited I was to finally be able to play Doom Eternal. Got the helmet and everything. After being completely spoiled, spending hundreds upon hundreds of hours in the game, I was pampered further with the two DLC releases. Some of the best fun I ever had. To sum up, we live in an awesome time where post launch content is a possibility. This sounds like a nice pattern to me; release a game, then spend a year or so supporting it, offering new content. Bring as much joy to players as possible, then onto the next. With the above in mind, I present to you Clea 2 - One Year Mission:
Throughout 2021, we will endeavour to develop the following updates. First, please let me reserve the right to alter plans! But, for now, if you have purchased Clea 2, these will be yours. No DLCs. When they are ready, download the update, and enjoy cleahappy. Oh, please note the below contain spoilers. By all means, play through Florine's campaign first, then come back for these juicy details. And now, here are the scheduled updates, in order of (planned) appearance:
Mission 1 - Clea's Quest
Yes, I have read the reviews, seen the comments. You were happy to see Clea return in the sequel, but you wanted more? Very well. Your wish shall be granted. As I have mentioned, there are no plans for a Clea 3 right now. That means this quest will truly be Clea's send off. Let's offer her our best wishes as she embarks on this final mission. Make sure your skills are brushed up. This is post launch content, after all. Players can expect a tough yet fair challenge. For clarity, as you know, this and the below are content updates, not full on DLCs or expansion packs. Please set your expectations accordingly. Outside of that, prepare to have yet more fun.
Mission 2 - Chaos Enhanced
Even though I had already provided a spoiler warning, I still want to keep this one a secret. It is not necessarily a new mode, to be clear. Details will be revealed closer to the date. Please stay tuned, and get ready for a hell of a time.
Mission 3 - War Maiden Mode
I read a few comments asking for a War Maiden Mode? What a coincidence, as I had the exact same idea in mind. I am happy players are destroying the campaign on chaos+, some on invisible mode, my goodness. At the same time, you monsters need to meet your match. War Maiden Mode will be a layer that can be wrapped around the campaign. It can be played from light to chaos+ mode. Invisibility on or off. Whatever combination you like. Okay, but what actually happens on War Maiden Mode? Guess you will have to find out for yourself. The ruthless level will be on a tier beyond chaos+. Ready your minds and souls cleachaos. Please note the above are subject to change until they have been released. Touch wood, but let's say if I release this article, then for some reason, every single one of my games stop selling. At the same time, I lose my job. In that case, of course the above fly out the window. Let's think positive, though. Thank you friend! And now, I am off to work. Content, after all, comes from grind, not magic yoyo.
Hi there! How are you doing cleahappy? If you have played Clea 2, I hope you enjoyed your run (perhaps with more to come for those unlocks). Meanwhile, if you have yet to play it, hopefully you will give it a whirl soon.
So, what next? Is it time to cast Clea 2 aside (minus the odd patches) and move to the next shiny thing? The answer to that will drop soon. In fact, I wish to hold a hangout on Discord to share what we have planned:
Event: Clea 2 post launch hangout
Date: Saturday April 10th 5:30pm (EST)
Discord link: https://discord.gg/Z2yP6fkqCr
Duration: 30-60 minutes (approx)
Channel: #clea-2-post-launch-hangout
Once this event ends, I will make the plan public. If you want to catch it live and be able to shout First!, come on in! We have a wholesome community, and I hope things will stay that way as we continue to build. Thank you for following us on this journey.
Talk to you soon! Please keep an eye out. Seriously cleasunnies.
I typed this out while sitting outside the college I attended 13 years ago. This is the place where I developed some of my game creation skills, and of course, a few of my earliest games cleahappy.
Clea 2 uses the same engine as the first title. It was supposed to be a simple dev cycle, but being my first take at a simultaneous release, it turned out to be the hardest. I usually schedule things well, with no crunches toward the end. Recently, I joked about wanting to experience dying on the finish line. Karma is real, as I got what I wanted, whether it was setting my alarm to buzz at 2am, or grinding from 4am to 9pm on a Sunday, all meals in front of the computer.
And yet, I would do it again, over and over until I can make no more. Thanks to you, all of my dreams are coming true. Console releases, a discord community who pushes Cleas mechanics and lore to their fullest. Plus, more exciting things I am not yet able to reveal.
But to be honest, I do not do this for any one person or group. The games I look up to (Ultimate Doom, Mario 3, XCOM and endless more), I wish to stroll alongside them, even if it is on a sidewalk. If all creators go to the same place when they perish, I want to make sure I will not be rejected at the door, either it is because I did something shady, or I did not dedicate my life to the craft. I want to die being buried with games.
Thank you for supporting Clea 2 on launch week and beyond. Indeed, there are no plans of a Clea 3, but you know, I do not seem to recall saying there will not be any more Clea related content.
Please keep it touch, pal. I am going back to work cleasunnies.
Hi there cleahappy! Hope you are doing well. Thank you for your love and support throughout Clea 2's launch week. As you might have seen, Clea 1 just received a major upgrade, which includes three new costumes:
https://store.steampowered.com/news/app/981020/view/3007816130309491406
Not long after the patch went live, something occurred to me. Wait, that means Clea 2 has less costumes to offer! I will not stand for that, so it was time to return to the lab.
And now, here we are, the first post launch week upgrade for Clea 2, with three new costumes available by default:
Origin: Check out that purple palette. If you have played Clea 1, you already know what it is cleachaos.
Autumn: Formerly a costume mod, now upgraded to become an official dress.
Snow: A dress inspired by snow and winter!
Additional changes:
- Reduced the volume of several "switch fail" sound effects so players will not be misled into thinking enemies have been alerted.
- Removed some candles from Chaos+ mode, the same way as things are structured in Clea 1. Good luck!
- Fixed the lighting in some areas and cutscenes where the light would be too bright.
- Increased likelihood of Mei's cat spawning during the prologue (by 5% or more based on difficulty).
Just like with Clea 1's update, I will soon run regression tests for the console versions. Once those pass, I can then submit the same builds up to those platforms. As always, please give the new version a look and let me know if anything comes up. I am available over the next few days.
Thank you! More to come, so please keep it touch cleasunnies.

Thank you!
- Patched out an exploit where players can hide behind certain doors, because an enemy's vision range is a few pixels too short to reach. - Fixed a rare bug where, when you stop peeking left/right, Florine can be stuck walking in place. The previous patch made this less likely to occur, but not fully removed. If this gets reported post-patch, or if I spot it again, I will continue to put in work. Thank you!
- Moved an icon on an enemy to make her mechanic more obvious. - Replaced ambience in chapter 2. - Fixed extremely rare death scenarios where a win and lose condition is met on the exact same frame. - Gave an enemy a new filter for one of her abilities. Many thanks!
Hey bud cleahappy! Hope you are doing good. As we hit the mid-way mark for launch week, I got a final stream I would like to share. Hourei Tenten will be giving Clea 2 a play soon:

- Tweaked map layout in chapter 3 so players have more breathing space. - Updated visuals in chapter 3 to provide better guidance. - Fixed an extremely rare bug (only replicable on consoles) that would cause you to pick up multiple copies of the same item. Seen by me only once throughout 2 years of development.

Hey gang cleahappy! How are we all? So delighted to see players conquering and enjoying Clea 2 thus far. As mentioned, I will be here all weekend, ready to help with answers, patches etc as needed. Please continue to have fun!
Speaking of fun, tonight at 8pm Japan time, the cute and cool VTuber Sorayume Sanny will be streaming some Clea 2:
https://youtu.be/POlWh-Cpsbg
But wait, there is more, because this weekend will be a double header. Obake PAM, CEO of Playasia, will also be streaming the game:
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCZIFph1bYyGxmFkkNNLAKdA/featured
In fact, even a double header is a lie. Natsumi Moe also plans to play some Clea 2 on the Switch, along with other games from my publisher, Sekai Games. Please keep an eye out for info on her channel:
https://twitter.com/Vtuber_Moe
The coolest part is, these awesome VTubers will be streaming as themselves, in their own costume mods!

More to come pals. Stay tuned cleasunnies.
- Fixed a typo ("our" instead of "out"). - Fixed two translation errors. Thank you to our players for raising them! - Fixed an extremely rare bug where, if you attempt certain movements in the 5 milliseconds it takes to cancel a peek left/right, the camera can get stuck. This was super hard to replicate, but a failsafe has been added, and I have not been able to recreate the issue since. Thank you!

Hi there pal cleasunnies! As you know, Clea 2 is now available on Steam, Switch and Xbox. Please guide Florine as she braves the Fifth Dimensions to resurrect the one she loves.
Whichever platform you choose, I hope you will have a hell of a time with Clea 2!
Arcade mode:
Today, I wish to list some of the differences between these platforms. First, Arcade Modes online leaderboards will be on the Steam version, while the others will feature local ones. In truth, I see most players power through Arcade Mode with a total score of 0, obviously to hunt for that Retro Dress. I am cool with that. Your game, your way.
The other factor is, Clea 1 had existed originally on only PC. This means the leaderboards were built using Steams package. It would be too much of a resource sink to re-create the leaderboards for each platform. The achievement (not on Switch) and Retro Dress will be on all platforms, of course.
Lets face it. Arcade Mode was created near the end of Cleas major updates cycle to provide the game with as much life as possible. For future titles, I would build online features on a shared platform (e.g. GameSparks), or, it may be best for me to focus harder on awesome single-player content. I have been playing Ion Fury as of late. That FPS has no multiplayer, and I for one do not miss it. Developers have finite resources, and I rather they concentrate on what they do best.
Costumes:
Next comes the dresses. Costume mods will naturally be exclusive to PC. Players can create their own dresses:
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2245125421
Just like with Clea 1, I will endeavor to offer seasonal costumes as the year rolls on, like this Autumn
Festival dress:
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2250231306
In fact, please keep an eye out throughout launch week, and I mean as early as tomorrow. We got some cool events and costume mods rolling in. Please look forward to them!
To balance this out, the console versions will have three exclusive costumes each:
Switch: Comdost, Natsumi Moe, Sarume Shinonome (Ne no Kami)
Xbox: Moon Queen, Mermaid, Sun Princess
In future, I have yet to decide if I should continue to offer exclusives or ensure everything is aligned. As more partners become involved, it takes a bit of juggling. Also, I wish to make use of every asset available to help these games prosper.
I always think, how would I feel from a fans perspective? With Doom Eternal, I have been religiously completing all the weekly challenges to obtain the cosmetics. To date, I have yet to miss one. That said, if there were skins exclusive to consoles, I would not re-buy the game to have them all. For a AAA-priced title, that would be a bit much, even for a fanatic like me. I would feel neutral on the matter. Heck, the most upsetting move would have been those Twitch Prime skins, and I even copped those. It is a business, I get it.
Anyway, always happy to have a conversation.
Many thanks, and please enjoy Clea 2 cleasunnies!
You know what makes me happy cleahappy? When I check out what screenshots players have been posting, and I see yet another person who has conquered the campaign on Chaos+ mode. With your victory comes the Chaos+ Dress. When this dress is worn, enemies flee at the sight of you. You are now the hunter.
I am so proud of you, in fact, that I wish to offer more than those in-game rewards. This is why I have put together this Conquest Pack:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1fyuCnnKQgK1Wt63Oegolm7w-uXLsdg7y/view?usp=sharing
Lets play a game of trust. Inside this pack is a set of wallpapers. However, they are only allowed to be used by those who have dominated the game on Chaos and/or Chaos+ mode (the files are labelled). Each time you see that desktop, you remember yes, I have conquered. Mousey, you thought you got me, but I laughed hard in your face cleachaos.
There are also custom Steam library backgrounds. Yes, did you know those can be customized? Pick your game of choice in your Steam library, then right-click the header image and choose Set Custom Background. The Conquest Pack contains custom logos for you to use, too. I recommend aligning the logo to the bottom left for the best look.
Thank you for wishlisting Clea 2, and for telling your friends:

Also, please remember tomorrow is the discord launch party!
https://store.steampowered.com/news/app/981020/view/3032584660750529763
Many thanks cleasunnies!
Hello there cleasunnies. Just a few days until Clea 2's release! From paper planning to final crunch, at last, the time is upon us. To celebrate, I would like to invite you to our discord's Clea 2 launch party!
Discord invite: https://discord.gg/Z2yP6fkqCr
Date:
March 23rd 2:30pm - 4:30pm (EST)
Which, in my Sydney time, would be:
March 24th 5:30am - 7:30am
Two time zones to confirm your region against. Hope I got it right!
Activities (based on EST):
Chill chat + Q&A (2:30pm - 3pm): Chill out with the friendly folks on our discord! I like to think we are a wholesome bunch. In the meantime, please ask me any questions about Clea 1, 2, and any of my games in general. I will be there to answer what I can.
Chaos+ run (3pm - 4pm): I will stream a play through of Clea 1 on chaos+ mode. Hope I am not too rusty! Let's have a blast, and perhaps you might pick up some tricks along the way? To ensure I complete the game in time, I should play with infinite saves on. It will be a run without the secret chapters, and the cutscenes skipped.
Signings (4pm - 4:30pm): For the final 30 minutes, I would like to digitally sign thank you cards for those interested. When the time comes, please tag me up, and I will get to work. In the meantime, feel free to have fun on the server! After 30 minutes, in true indie spirit, I must immediately sign off to prepare for my day job. Thank you for your understanding.
Hope to see you there and then! I would love to have you join us cleahappy!
Hey pal! Hope you are doing good cleasunnies.
Yo, I have a confession. Did you know you can assign custom Steam backgrounds for the games in your library? Oh, you did? Cool, haha, I kind of just found out the other week.
When there is a game I love, you know when I like doing? Lets get some wallpapers up. Phone backgrounds. Steam library images. Get a few and set them on rotation. Let me go all in.
Worry not, because I got right onto it. Inside the below link are two custom Steam background packs. One for Clea, the other for Clea 2:
https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/12At6dKnO83mMSMoDp5kdLVRMc2Qr3Tkw?usp=sharing
Please note some of these contain minor image spoilers. That said, with Clea 1, you may have seen most if not all of the artworks already. Also, Clea is primarily a test of skills. I doubt a single image will ruin your experience. Still, you can hold off on downloading these if preferred.
For the logos, I recommend aligning them to the bottom left for the best look:

Much appreciated cleahappy!
Hello! Hope life has been good cleasunnies.
When I am hyped for a game, I want to soak that excitement in. Throughout Feb last year, I listened to Doom Eternal's soundtrack almost daily. I had a rotation of wallpapers downloaded from the Slayers Club. Today, I wish to provide the same for Clea 2, so here are a set of wallpapers and avatars for you to enjoy:
Wallpapers: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1wO_UP-w0I2tHaWM0nI1f0ItLZ5DHdOc3/view?usp=sharing
Avatars:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/13QRpD7lYDWJH_7t2PwKoWqn2Tj5Y8vsA/view?usp=sharing
The pack comes with landscape and portrait wallpapers. On top of that, there are common assets such as logos in PNG format. That way, you can arrange your custom wallpapers, if that is more to your liking.

Hiyo! Hope you are doing good cleahappy.
You know what bums me out? To this day, Without Within 3 is not eligible for trading cards. This, unfortunately, is why I am no longer able to create visual novels. The type of stories I tell had not been selling well. It sucks double, because we already have emoticons created for the game, too.
Fortunately, Clea 1 was marked as eligible for trading cards not long after release. With your support, I hope we will have the same result for Clea 2. Please cop a copy on release, drop a review etc, and hopefully we will get there soon enough.
Today, I want to leave some previews on what we wish to release once trading cards become eligible. Enjoy!

Hey there! Hope you are doing good cleahappy.
In a game series, the first release often has the issue of feeling repetitive. As in, the entire campaign seems to be set in the same few places.
The most recent example I can think of is Doom 2016. Well, I disagree, because I am a massive fan clealol, but I have read many players say the whole game takes place either on Mars or in hell, which became a bore. Doom Eternal has certainly fixed this problem.
Why does this happen? I suspect in many cases, it is due to a lack of resources. Perhaps you are a new creator, and/or you do not have the funds required for more variety. Even if you do, being the first game in a series, it can feel like a risk to put everything into one basket, so to speak.
In Clea 1, I had tried my best to ensure each chapter felt different. First, you have the clock tower, then we head out to a grass maze, and toward the end, the cells.
Still, things can always be better. Plenty of players pointed out the fact that hey, there sure seems to be a lot of bathrooms in this mansion cleasmug. Also, most of the game took place exclusively indoors.
Clea 2 is set to learn from those lessons. Once you pass chapter 1, off you go to the Fourth Dimension and the realms beyond. That alone should be a clue to the varied settings players will get to visit and conquer. More outdoor spaces, too. Clea 2 is a test of player skills, but along the way, I hope you will also enjoy the sights.

Hey friends. Minor spoilers for Clea 1!
In the first game, the Chameleon Servant was often regarded as the real test. Once players overcame this invisible enemy, in terms of foes, they were pretty much sorted. The focus then shifted to puzzle solving while you kept your hunters at bay.
See, each chapter rises and falls like a wave. First, you learn the basics. Then, the challenge ramps up. At last, you overcome the trial, and so, onto the next. The puzzles increase in depth, but in Clea 1, the enemies remained relatively static.
In Clea 2, however, your foes may not be so merciful cleachaos.
If you have played Clea 2s demo, you would have seen this. As you pick up and replace those orbs in the prologue, you may have noticed Mei would speed up out of desperation. Soon enough, she would even send forth her cat to locate you.
I had scripted behaviors of this sort for the other foes you will meet. However, for a while, I in fact had to remove some of these features. If you are traversing from A to B while evading these foes, fine. Now, how about trying to solve a puzzle at the same time? Those enemy abilities went from cool to bull real quick.
Fortunately, the delayed release provided me with the time needed to balance these abilities out. I had to tone things down a bit, but as we approach release, I am pleased with where things are at. Instead of enemies with frustrating skillsets, I have leaned more toward environmental hazards. These level will provide a challenge, yet the campaign remains fair, exactly the way Clea is designed to be.
The AI have also received enhancements. On lower difficulties, their hearing range will decrease as you walk near them. There are other behind the scenes adjustments as well, all with the purpose of ensuring a fair game. If you are a Clea veteran, I recommend hopping on dark difficulty, perhaps even with infinite lives turned off, for that precious first run.
To discuss details would spoil the magic, so for now, I shall speak no more. Please look forward it! I believe in you.

Thank you hybridmink for this awesome artwork. Clea 2 is released in under a month cleasunnies!
These past 14 days were the most difficult I have ever been through in terms of development. New maps meant new technical requirements, with specific quirks based on each platform. Evolved enemies meant additional needs for gameplay balance. To get into details would ruin the magic, so I will just say this. The game now has an overarching AI manager. Players will be tested, and at the same time, be presented with the fairest challenge possible. The changes will be subtle, yet this my proudest addition, and I cannot wait for you to have a hell of a time.
At this stage, I can at last say this. I truly like to believe you will have a fun time with Clea 2. If you do, I am happy to the core. If not, I can look you in the eye and say I gave my best effort, and I have no regrets.
I used to be an avid basketball player, and I compare everything in life to this sport. Those final weeks before release? That is the 4th quarter, where stars are made. If we go into overtime? That too is a place for players to mark their legacies. Eat in front of computer. Stop work at 10pm because too much rage. Set alarm at 2am to resume. Late nights. Little sleep. New idea comes up during day job. Back at it again. Run after run. Non-stop balance. This is what I have signed up for. The anger and anguish make me feel alive. Though I have no doubt these shorten my lifespan, this is where I am happiest.
There are more final runs of Clea 2 to go through. Meanwhile, I will commence promo work. Let's schedule in some of those costume mods. We are going to have a blast.
I am also going to request for a day off from my day job on release, leading up to the weekend. If issues come up, I will be here. When you survive that first run, I will be there to celebrate before you venture on to dominate those challenge modes. There is so much fun to be had. Florine and I are ready for you.
See you soon pal cleachaos!
Heya bud! Hope you are doing good. What say we talk some soundtrack today cleahappy?
In Clea 1, there was no soundtrack DLC of any sort. While I am thankful players enjoyed the ambience tracks, those are licensed tracks purchased from online for commercial use, so I do not hold the rights to resell them as DLC.
With Clea 2, this remains largely the case. However, for the final two chapters in the campaign, I have decided they deserve custom built music tracks. This is why I asked for help from the awesome composer Jan Hehr. Jan has kindly taken the time to give us a peek behind the scenes, too, so let's take a look.
---
Hello everyone, my name is Jan Hehr!
I've had the lovely opportunity to work on the music for Clea 2, and I'm more than happy how everything turned out! While brainstorming ideas, Marcus and I quickly found out that we share a similar taste in video games, which made us find the right sound for the game even better! Inspired by the epic metal compositions of Doom, the haunting ensemble of Alien Isolation's orchestra and other great video game music, we found the perfect style for the game: Fiery orchestral brass with tense strings and a trembling choir, combined with electronical synthesizers and some instruments from the metal - genre.
If you want to keep in touch with me, you can follow me on twitter,
https://twitter.com/JanHehrComposes?s=09
or visit my website directly!

Thank you so much for letting me be a part of this project Marcus, and thanks to all of you for supporting Clea 2!
Sincerely, Jan Hehr

Thank you Jan! If you are interested, please wishlist the OST so you will be notified on release. The tracks should be released on the same day as we the game:
https://store.steampowered.com/app/1333010/Clea_2__Chaos_OST
Or, you can support Jan directly by purchasing the soundtrack here:
https://janhehrcomposes.bandcamp.com/album/clea-2-chaos-ost
This post's main goal is clarify the OST will contain Jan's two tracks only, because I do not have the rights to resell the rest. With that cleared up, thank you for your support, and I will catch you next time cleasunnies!
Hey bud cleasunnies! Hope you are well. First, I am about to discuss an exploit of sorts in both Clea 1 and 2. If you are not aware of any, I ask that you do not read this article yet. I sincerely wish for players to survive the campaigns naturally first. Then, as their focus shifts from horror to domination, they are more than welcome to use every tool in the bag.
Okay, you know which move I am referring to. Not long after Clea 1s release, a player named Logsync shared a clip where chapter 1 was beaten ultra fast. I thought, No way that time is possible. Then, I watched the clip, and there it was. A move I dub the Logsync Swap. Go through a door while an enemy is coming in, and you go past each other without the foe being alerted.
First, dang it, I did this to protect you clealol! Originally, if you entered another room while a Chaos Servant was at the door, you would game over instantly. In the real world, that would indeed happen. Even though you can 100% prevent this by peeking through doors and listening to audio cues, new players will find this unfair. This was why I added a failsafe to protect the players. However, it also resulted in this being abusable.
Here is what I did for Clea 2. This time, if you pull off the move, the enemy will be alerted. However, they must go back through the same door before they can begin their chase. A minor stopgap, but lets face it. If you know Cleas mechanics well enough, you will still be able to escape.
Most important, do I wish to deny this move? Hell nah. In Doom Eternal, you can switch from a Precision Bolt to any other weapon for what I dub the god swap. This lets you swap weapons so fast you wipe even the tankiest of demons in seconds. Is it broken? Maybe. Does it feel good? You bet it does. The devs had patched this out for a time, and I voted for it to return:
https://bethesda.net/community/topic/416538/precision-bolt-god-switch-oh-how-i-have-missed-you?language%5B%5D=en
If there is an unintended move in a game that makes players feel awesome, I say leave that thing in. Once a player has earned that mastery, let them express it.
Clea can be many things to players. To start with, it can be a survival horror. Then, as you gain experience, it becomes a journey of conquest. I will master these routes and mechanics until I make a fool of Chaos+. When I offer an impossible challenge, only for you to laugh in my face, that brings me great happiness.
Still, once you become a dominant Clea player, there is no going back. Ask if those Resident Evil 1 speedrunners fear the zombies. Scared the enemies will end their runs, sure, but not in a traditional sense. And so, I have a favor to ask. In your first Clea 2 run, please, do not use the door swap. Enjoy the game in its natural form, because that first run is precious. It is something you can never get back. Soak in that atmosphere. Engage in the lore. Check out those sceneries. Be afraid. Love your first run. After that, heck, use Cheat Engine for all I care. It is your game to destroy. Please, not on Arcade Mode, though.
While I am here, I might ask for one more thing. You know how you can run on the spot to alert an enemy to your location? For your first run, lets not even do that. Please use only sound objects such as toilets. These are optional, but I think they would lead to a tense first run.
In secret, I am so mad I never noticed this glitch before release. Damn it, I exploit all the time in games! Popping in and out of save rooms in The Evil Within. Mr X abuse in RE2. I must have been too close to the project to spot potential exploits.
Thank you for wishlisting Clea 2, and for sharing with your friends:

Many thanks bibi!
Hey friends cleasunnies! Hope you are doing good.
Out of all the games I have made (including ones never released), Clea has possibly been the most difficult to balance. We have players who believe the game is unfair (every step has been taken to ensure fairness, but this is up to the individual), yet there are those who laugh their way through even Chaos+ Mode. When I observe this from more of an outside perspective, it is quite fascinating.
Back when I showcased Clea at conventions, in truth, the majority of players could not beat the clock tower. In retrospect, I should have acted on this data sooner. However, most players on Steam survived the campaign just fine, so I never gave it much thought.
Or perhaps, that was never the case. Maybe plenty of players struggled and simply dropped or refunded the game. To be honest, it took until some negative reviews on the console versions for me to implement a 1 Ups feature vintywhy.
Thankfully, 1 Ups are now in place for Clea 2. Players are welcomed to activate these on their first runs, then build up to the no 1 Ups with limited saves experience. Clea, after all, is a test of skills. The most rewarding victories are the ones earned, scenarios that provide a real challenge cleachaos.
A broad range of player skills also makes game length difficult to predict. Some take 3-4 hours on their first Clea runs, while others blow through it in under an hour. While you have hopefully been enjoying the game, I have been learning lots as a creator.
Okay, so how long is Clea 2? I believe it is slightly longer than Clea 1. However, considering players will be experienced from the first game, it may not feel that way. Most important, rather than padding for length, my aim is to go deeper. Foes who may summon allies as they grow more desperate (Mei with her cat). More varied locations. A deeper story as well as puzzles (the orbs challenge). These are things I hope to discuss more before the games release yoyo.
Several weeks before I signed off on the game (though I can still make tweaks), I had trimmed several floors from some of the chapters. The goal, again, is not to create artificial length. Rather, I wish to offer a campaign so fun you will feel enticed you re-run it for those sweet rewards. Those secret chapters and endings. Take on Chaos and Chaos+, with invisible enemies even. Many unlockable costumes. This time, in Clea 2, these will all be available from day one. Please, enjoy that journey from exploration to domination neonya.
Thank you for wishlisting Clea 2, and for sharing with your friends. These help me far more than I can explain:

Happy New Year! Hope your 2021 will be filled with happiness and achievements cleahappy.
Boy, I sure stayed quiet over the break. Yes, I gamed a ton, but I also worked lots. Christmas Eve, work. Christmas Day, work. Boxing Day, work. NYE, work. Jan 1st, work. Clea 2 is scheduled for release on March 25th, and so it shall be. The delay gave me a chance to hone each chapter further. A long checklist has been ticked off over the break, with several more to go. Currently, I am on a Chaos+ run to ensure that, while difficult as hell, the mode is beatable.
Many have asked about Clea 2's console release possibilities. We are working daily behind the scenes, and there should be news incoming. Please look forward to them yoyo!
Aside from that, I plan to drop articles to hype up Clea 2's release. Please be sure to follow Clea 2's Steam page to stay in touch, and to show your support. Perhaps other Clea related news, too? It should be a nice year ahead. Please stay tuned whappy.
Last up, the Clea series record the conflict between the Arcane and Chaos factions. I can already say, this war will continue. Whether it is the next game, we have yet to confirm, but there is a bigger universe to be shared, and someday, we must decide on the victor cleachaos.
Beyond that, players have been asking why there is no InvertMouse server. It has been on my mind, too. The games take priority, but still, this is now higher on my todo list. When the server goes live, I want to make sure it is a fun and eventful place. Do it right, or do not do it at all. Please keep an eye out! Happy times ahead sasa.
Many thanks cleasunnies!
Hey gang cleasunnies! The end of 2020 draws near. With that in mind, I want to drop a final update for the year. Here is a sneak peek at Clea 2's emotes!
What are my plans this Christmas? Clea 2. There is nothing else. Head down and working. While Clea 2's release date is in March, I hope to be more or less finished by the time 2021 hits. To have three full months for polish/marketing, that would be incredible for the game.
I have also made Clea 1's Christmas costume available on a permanent basis. Here is the post:
https://store.steampowered.com/news/app/981020/view/4499624084978518529
Thank you, and Merry Christmas!
Hey gang! A super hot day here in Australia. Just the way I like it. Being sweaty reminds me of my days spent on the basketball courts. It fires me up to put in that work. I have even thought about moving to Singapore, in fact cleasunnies.
Anyway, a new version of Clea 2's demo is out! I have also pushed an update for Clea 1 yesterday. This Clea 2 patch features the same changes. Here are the patch notes:
https://steamcommunity.com/games/981020/announcements/detail/2923360954119998193
There is one other Clea 2 exclusive update. See, when you are killed in Clea 2, sometimes, your hunter will offer some final words. A few players asked for these to be translated, and so, it has been done! In Clea 2's demo, when Mei catches you, her words will briefly appear on screen before your tombstone appears.
Okay! I am off to spend more time riding off cliffs in Lonely Mountain Downhill, followed by more Ancient Gods I Ultra Nightmare training.
Thank you cleahappy!
Hey gang! How are you all going? Hope you enjoyed the Steam Autumn Festival. I for one added some new games to my wishlist. Also, I finished Doom Eternal on Ultra Nightmare over the weekend! Felt so good after hours of training. Still feeling like a champ cleasunnies.

Hopefully one of several more to come!
Patch:
Also, an update just went up for Clea 2's demo. Some fixes:
- When an enemy is in a room with a painting while you are in a different one, sometimes, the orbs system will break. You cannot drop an orb, pick up an orb, or the wrong orb is displayed. Hard to catch because of the timing required. So glad I spotted and fixed it yesterday.
- When you and an enemy move into the same area at the same time, your character will spawn far too close to the back wall. Again, a hard to catch timing bug. Thankfully, no more! For your interest, this came up only in Clea 2, because with the sequel, I had to revise the code to cater for some of the new complexities. Hope you will love the hell out of what awaits in the full game.
Chaos/Chaos+ changes:
Okay, now for something more fun. Have you finished Clea 2's demo? Snuck by Mei to activate that portal? How about Chaos Mode, or even Chaos+? Oh, you have? If so, you may want to try again. In Chaos and Chaos+, you may find a new, unpleasant surprise has been added cleachaos.
Just like with Clea 1, in this sequel, depending on which difficulty you choose, I want to provide more than just faster enemies. Especially on Chaos and Chaos+, there should be re-shuffles, brand new surprises. Keep those adventures exciting throughout the game's lifespan. Full confession, though. This time, it is harder. See, the enemies and maps have increased in complexity. When I add just a touch more, it becomes "too much". Even to me as the creator, it feels unfair. Fortunately, a solution came up during my recent commute, so I will be making some fun tweaks over the coming days. Clea is a horror series, yet it should also be fun. Damn fun.
Best of all, I have more updates planned, so please look forward to them. This demo build is an early access of sorts. You can see Clea 2 evolve along in these coming months.
Thank you friends cleahappy!

Thank you cleasunnies.
Hey gang cleasunnies! I came here today to pay my respects to you early birds. Did you enjoy Clea 2's demo? If you have yet to play it, hopefully you can give it a shot. Now that the demo has been out for a couple of weeks, I have more of a perspective on it. So proud of the work our team has put in, and I hope you will love the hell out of playing it.
I have every intention to make this place more active soon. A bunch of things have been scheduled already. First, will there once again be costume mod support for the PC version? The answer is yes, and a mod template will be on the way cleahappy. As you know, we have a couple of console ports on the way. Once those are released, we are all in on Clea 2.
We also have other goods like wallpapers, avatars and the like. Fun content all around as thanks, and also to build excitement for Clea 2's release. If you have friends who may be interested in the Clea series, it would be so cool if you could let them know. Let's build this community and have a whole ton of fun together!
Many thanks clealol.
Welcome friends cleahappy. As you can see, Clea 2 has been announced! If you are new to the series, welcome. If you are here from Clea 1, welcome back!
Day one of the announcement, and I will be here over the next few days to answer questions, resolve issues etc as required. Please try out the Clea 2 demo! Happy to hear your feedback. If there are bugs, parts you found puzzling etc. We can work together to make this the best game possible.
There will be much more news to come. Please join this Clea 2 community, and I will be back real soon.
Thank you cleasunnies!
