Finally, we are glad to present the highlights of the latest changes and a glimpse into the next development plans.

And we're back online!

Finally after so many days of waiting, we are very happy to announce that we are getting back online.
We've just republished our website under playeonica.com and the game is again available to play.

We currently work on another race called Inventors and missing functionality such as Match History, Player Profile and Tournaments.
We will keep you up to date on our discord channel about our new designs and development progress.

Shutting down KotB website and game services proceeding re-branding

Following the requirements to remove the name and the logo of the game from all public sources, we have temporarily shutdown our kotbgame.com website.
Also, the game will no longer be available to play over Steam.

We are currently in the process of re-branding everything and will republish it under a different name as soon as ready.
We will keep you updated about it.

The Matchmaking has been improved!

  • Reduce game placement timeouts.
  • Players will be notified earlier when there is no server available for hosting a game.
  • During Quick/Ranked Play Matchmaking, the loading screen can be minimized to allow browsing the main menu while waiting.

Patch Notes for Release 20201030.1

Bots have learned how to play. Now they can stand a fight!

[h2]New Features[/h2]


  • Bots now have three strategies to play: Aggressive, Balanced and Economist. Each bot gets a random strategy at the beginning of the game. They also can learn talents and decide what is the most efficient way to spend their gold.
  • "Sorcerer's Apprentice" talent has changed. Extra charges now will be collected from taking damage, instead of extra charge from auto-attacks. Also it's allowed now investing only 1 point that will increase the ability charge by 0.5.
  • Restyled pins for Brawl and Coop rounds.
  • Friends now can be invited to custom lobbies from different regions.


[h2]Changes for Pieces[/h2]

  • Base characteristics for Knights have been changed to make them better tankers, while dealing less damage.
  • The Lucifer Ability has been extended to deal pure damage when the health threshold is not reached. (250|500|750). Also it requires only 4 blocks to charge now (instead of old 5).
  • Inazuma needs 4 charge blocks for the ability (instead of old 5).


[h2]Bugs Fixed[/h2]

  • The damage recap panel will hide after player dies.
  • Ranged pieces now generate Miss feedback too when projectile doesn't hit the target.
  • "Random " talents will no longer create fake pieces for players who will reuse your current arena for fights after.
  • Explosive mines now will trigger even if they are spawned by a ghost player. Their damage has been improved. Now they inflict 15% of max health instead of old 10%.
  • Pieces affected by "Lucky Triple" talent will no longer be ignored on the Damage Recap panel.
  • Remove support for resolutions with aspect ration different from 16:9 and 16:10.

  • Introducing Top 200 Players Leaderboard.
  • Introducing Russian Localization.
  • Enabling players joined to a lobby to invite their Steam Friends to join the same lobby (supported only for players in the same region currently).
  • Enhancing the Coop Round to have the Dragon's power scaling with number of total players alive. Winning the match against the dragon will increase the level of all participating pieces by one. Losing the match will destroy the pieces participated forever.
  • Changed piece selection mechanics for the brawl and coop rounds. A pin is now shown on top of the selectable pieces. Clicking the pins will select the respective piece.
  • Improved visuals of arenas, making them more lightweight in the same time.

  • If a region is down and user cannot login because of that, a possibility is given to try and connect to a different region.

We've added a tutorial map, balanced the gameplay and improved our UI design

  • A tutorial map has been added to highlight the basics of the game.
  • We now support 3 regions for game hosting: America, Asia-Pacific and Europe.
  • We've completely redesigned the HUD.

  • Expatriate Talent applies now two random synergy buffs (one race and one class synergy buff).

  • All piece stats have been reviewed updated to ensure a balanced gameplay.

  • The Stonetablet theme is now available also for the reroll lever and marketplace lock.


[h2]Bugs Fixed[/h2]

  • Fix pieces received using the Random Piece Talents being visible on board during the fighting phase. They were also counted to the current synergies and could overwrite pieces the player already owned before.
  • Explosive mines don't trigger anymore on pieces that will be automatically removes from the board as excess.
  • Price indicator won't become red if the Credit Line Talent is learned and a player has sufficient amount of funds.
  • Fixed problem when round summary screen appeared or when relocated to other arenas while dragging a piece, that piece was not released and would end up in an inconsistent state somewhere on the map.

Alpha 2.0 is now live

We are very happy to announce to you that the second Alpha session is open!

HOW TO PLAY

To make the most out of your gameplay experience, we've put together a short Game Info page in the main menu of the game, containing the most important details explaining the basics.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Since the game is still alpha, you may encounter bugs, crashes, lag, imbalance, and longer than normal matchmaking times.
A short note on the customizable items: buying in-game currency Crowns is free of charge and purchasable once every minute. Customizable items can be purchased using Crowns. Your inventory will be reset once the BETA version of the game is released.
