- Issues with other languages fixed
- Offline Mode Black Out fixed
First, I need to apologize. Its been more than a year since I last updated this game. Ill be honest with you, I lost my motivation to continue developing it. Although there were some players who kept me going, it was very hard to persist. Additionally, I had a lot of other projects going on alongside this game (family, work, and other hobbies). On the other hand, I havent lost interest in game development. My dream was always to finish a game on steam. Unfortunately. I had already new ideas for another game, which didn't help at all. Thats why I decided to cut my plans for this game and complete it before starting another one. This means, regrettably, that many promised features like Minigames, Last Man Standing, Deathmatches, and especially the Chicken Horse Game mode are not planned for the released version anymore. If someone was waiting for these features, Im very sorry. I hope you arent too upset. Perhaps Ill find some new motivation to add these features in the future. But for now, my main goal is to get this game out of early access. I also decided to make only a Windows version because it would be too much effort to create Mac and Linux builds as well. For the full release, I decided to prioritize localizations and add two additional maps to the game. Due to all the reductions, I will also significantly lower the price of the game. Apologies to all who paid more than the future price! If it helps, you did me a big favor because I didnt earn that much at all. If it doesnt, feel free to contact me. Im sure we will find a solution. Now let's talk about the changes:
1. Two new Maps added
To enhance the games content, I added two new map styles. First, I introduced the Knights Pack, which brings some fun with the new catapult game object. Second, I added the Vikings Pack, featuring snowy landscapes. While there arent many new mechanics, there are some new official courses in these fresh environments. All the new objects are also available in the game editor. Feel free to create your own castles and Viking villages.
2. Localisations added to the game
With the help of ChatGPT, it was much easier for me to provide localizations for this game. I had to make some adjustments to the game to make it work, but I didnt lose too much time on the actual translations. Although I can imagine there might be some mistakes, please let me know if you find any. It would help me a lot since I cannot afford an expert in game translations. For now, I decided to add German, French, Italian, and Spanish. I can imagine adding new languages in the future as well.
3. Game Mechanics
I cant provide many details about changes in the game mechanics because Ive been working on this new update for two years. What I do remember is that I adjusted the timeout in the dynamic mode to 60 seconds and extreme game mode to 30 seconds. @Karl Van Zandt, I hope you and your kids will have more fun now! :) Besides that, there were numerous small bug fixes. I hope Ive addressed them all before the full release.
Post Scriptum
Thats all for now. If you have the time and energy, please provide some feedback on the current build (keep in mind that I cant put too much effort into changes). I would greatly appreciate any hints about bugs, errors, or small enhancements. If not, I hope you enjoy the game with your friends and/or family! Cheers, Manuel
1. Open Lobbies
You are now able to quick join open lobbies by selecting Join Lobby. Each owner of a lobby can decide to accept your join request or reject it. If everyone rejected your request or if there is no open lobby in your region, the game will automatically open a new lobby for you. I haven't adjusted the steam input layout, yet. Therefore if you are useing a steam layout you need to accept/reject the request via keyboard.
This allows you to play minigolf not only with your friends but also with all the minigolf players in your region. I hope there will be a lot of play together!
2. Classic Mode waiting time limited to 5 seconds
Because sometimes the ball doesn't want to rest, the player needs to wait way to long to be able to shoot it again. Therefore I limited the waiting time to 5 seconds. Thanks to Inu Reynac for the feedback and the recommendation!
3. Editor object menu
I've added a small object menu in the editor which allows to move the selected object or duplicate it. The menu will appear if you select an object in the editor. This should fasten the workflow a little bit. In the future I'm going to add more features in this menu.
Post Scriptum
Other than that there where only small bug fixes. I couldn't put much effort into testing. So if there is anything wrong please let me now! I hope you enjoy playing minigolf in open lobbies. Cheers, Manuel
Patch Notes 1.0.0.3
1. Random Course
You are now able to play random courses with custom levels published to the steam workshop. This feature should encourage the player to find and play new custom levels. The more custom levels are played the greater the players motivation is to build thier own custom levels. That's the idea.
2. Custom Course - Level Categories
If you want to put together your own course, it is now much easier to find specific levels, because they are now categorized in the three packs, your published levels, your favorites levels, your subscribed levels and the most popular levels. In the future I want to add categories like trending and fresh aswell. Also you can find now all the levels in the most popular categorie and you don't have to subscribe to them in the steam workshop, first.
3. Level Ratings
You can now see the rating of the levels in the custom and random course selector. To push level ratings, you are able to rate a custom level easily after you played it in the current score menu. Simply navigate up and down before you press continue.
4. Outliner added to ball and pointer
Mentioned by Lazydog, the ball can sometimes hide beneath a bridge. Therefore I added a outliner tool, which highlights the ball and pointer behind objects. This feature makes it also possible to build levels with tunnels, where the player needs to guess the boarders or even the hole. Sounds like fun to me.
6. Editor: Static Elements new ordered
In the editor I classified the static elements in subcategories: Start Floors/Hole, Floors, Ice Floors, Force Floors, Walls, Obstacles. This should make it easier for beginners to find the correct elements for a simple course. In general the editor is in a very primitive state. In my next update I will focus on improving the editor with anchors, new categories, new features ... Wish me luck.
7. Editor
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2920962893 I'm also working on a editor guide. You can open it within the game in the editor overlay menu. To open it press [Esc] or the [Command]-Button. Currently it is not much, but I will add new guides step by step. At the beginning it is very hard to create guides because the game does change a lot. But I'll give my best.
Patch Notes 1.0.0.2
1. Add new player on keyboard with
now!
A lot of people were confused because of the [Enter]-Key isn't working for submitting or selecting stuff in the game menus. That's why I decided to adjust the keybinding so that [Space] and [Enter] can be used to select stuff, similar to the [Arrow]-Keys and [WASD], which can be used to navigate. I also added the feature that you can fully navigate in the menu with the mouse only. Finally to add a player to the game on the keyboard, I had to search for another key and decided to use the
-Key for "Player". I hope this makes sense.
2. Input device icons now visible in the start game menu
You can connect new input devices in the start game menu only (the very first menu in the game) or before you start the game. On the top right corner you can now see the number of input devices detected by the game. This helps to get an idea which input devices are working properly. The icons also blink, if they receive any input signals. Have in mind, that steam input gamepads send only [LeftStick], [ButtonS] and [ButtonE] signals in the start game menu.
3. Open steam leaderboards within the overlay menu
To get a much easier insight to the leaderboards, you can now open the current level and course leaderboards within the overlay menu. It simply browses the steam leaderboards, but it is a fast and easy solution.
4. Score board in overlay menu
If you want to check the current total score of the game, you can open the overlay menu and check on the top left corner.
5. Record Owner Panels
Record owner will be displayed by name and icon in the overlay menu, current score board menu and in the winner scene.
6. Buggy Ramp
The ramp in the third map third map "Zen Garden" of the samurai pack has been fixed. You are now able to jump over the fence. A hole-in-one should be possible, now. Who gets it first?
Postskriptum
So that's it for the second patch. Feel free to open a new discussion in the community hub and let me know what you think or just comment beneath this announcement. I wish you all a happy new year!!
Patch Notes 1.0.0.1
1. Ball Physics Improvement
Ball physics were a little bit of. By adjusting the drag and friction, the player ball is now moving much smoother and doesn't have the break effect. It still feels a little bit like "on honey", but this is intended so that the ball doesn't roll all over the place and takes too much time to stop moving.
2. Wall Bouncyness
The wall bouncyness has been increased. Also some walls didn't had the correct physical material. This has been fixed.
3. Charge Sound FX
The charge sound FX of the ball was way too loud. The volume of this FX has been decreased.
4. Buggy Bridge
The hitboxes of the bridge object in the third adventure map (Camp) has been recreated. Now it is much easier and predictable to shoot the ball over the bridge.
5. Input Devices
In the start game menu (the very first menu of the game) you are now able to connect new input devices without restarting the game.
Speacial Thanks
Special thanks to Lazydog and Mechanoid for giving me a lot of feedback. Thank you also for improving the ball phyisics and for testing it. You're awesome!
Here it is! After almost three years of work in my spare time it is finally happening. My very first version released on Steam. I want to thank all my friends, family and all the gamers I've gotten in touch with, which helped me at this project. No matter if you tested the game, gave me some new input or simply helped me mentaly to get to this point. I'm very grateful that you made this possible for me! Hopefully, we will continue on this path and add more new content as we go along.
