We are celebrating the approaching first anniversary (this April 9th) by joining the Steam discounts with a great offer. We have also been preparing a playable demo for all those who want to try the project before deciding to buy it.
Personally, I can't believe it's already been a year since I published it, but at the same time I can hardly remember the time when I was developing the game. In this year there have been many changes between the game and I have learned many, many things about how to run and how to sell a videogame.
I hope that those of you who have never tried it can take a look at the game and enjoy it.
To celebrate that the game is going to be one year old in April I'm going to make a sale on the game that will last all that month. Additionally I am preparing a demo of the game so that people who don't decide to buy the game can try it for free. Patch notes: -Fixed a couple of graphical bugs that happened to some players. -Several spelling errors have been revised including the error in the start menu. -Fixed the bug that showed some Spanish texts in the English version in a certain path of the game. -The color balance of some illustrations has been corrected. Best regards
Nominations for the Steam Awards 2022 are coming up! Since its release on the 9th of April this year "Dear Althea" has been praised in its reviews for the visuals of the project. If you also liked the 780 illustrations made with special care to show every detail of the story; consider giving the award "Outstanding visual style" to Dear Althea at the Steam Awards 2022!!!! Voting starts on November 24th and there are 11 categories, remember that during the nominations there will be a Steam autumn sale where the game will be 50% off!!!!
There are only a few days to go until the Steam Autumn Sale starts, but I can already tell you that Dear Althea will be 50% off for the duration of the event. It will last from the 22nd to the 29th of November. If you were waiting for a sale to get the game, this is your moment!
Hello, one more day I bring here the summary of the new update of the Dear Althea videogame starting with a new feature I have been working on; you will now be able to save at the beginning of the chapter. This will make it possible to have a save for each chapter making replayability easier. A beta has been opened to test the Linux version at Ithc.io for free. If you try it, please be aware that it is very likely that you will experience some kind of bug or even not be able to start the game. I would appreciate if you could write me comments about your experience with this version. I have started to put the date in the update file so that everyone can easily check which update they have received. [olist]
This is one of the biggest updates there has been and probably will be from Dear Althea. It fixes almost all the bugs and errors that have been detected to date, but there is also a new feature that will greatly speed up replayability. The Haker!!! option has been added to the main menu. From which you can go to any chapter and even change any decision to see the result. It's still in testing phase and it's possible that when you indicate a game from the main menu, it may cause unexpected problems.
That said, here is the list of fixed bugs, most of them detected by @Bahaha:
Small translation errors in English.
Redundancy in some sentences in the English translation.
Bug that caused Faustina to always be inside the library even if Althea didn't invite her in.
Loops that happened when you had a strong argument with Faustina.
Bug in the symbols of the locks in the decision of the chapter "Miss Cressida Delafield Lanington".
Flower circle animation appeared in some moments when it was not supposed to be there.
Some spelling mistakes related to the apostrophe.
The word "ejaculation" has been replaced by other words despite being written by the original author; e.g.:
...setting down his teacup, and casting an eye irrepressibly jovial even while uttering this pensive ejaculation along the emptied bookshelves. (page 54 - Dear Faustina)
...pouring himself a cup of tea, and casting an eye along the empty bookshelves.
Various bugs that made Miss Delafield look as Mr Drake was talking
Some occasional "Spanglish" error in decision making.
Missing phrase from the "good news" chapter
Error that, depending on the choices made, prevented continuing from the women's club party.
Finally, thanks to the work of @Bahaha I can tell you that in order to find your Dear Althea savegames in your Windows you have to:
-Go to the following address (remember to activate the option to see hidden folders):
In this last small update we have corrected errors that happened to some users when making a specific series of decisions. If you have wanted to make a romance with Eliza and you have not been able to do it, possibly you had this error. [olist]
The updated version of the 12th is now available, those who want to enjoy it will have to reinstall the game after reading this text. In addition to the bus fixes described below, several small improvements suggested by users have been added. [olist]
In this new version several minor bugs are fixed, most of them only happened in specific cases. Before looking at the notes I would like to thank those who have reported bugs to me and especially @Bahaha for his detailed comments on itch.io. [olist]
I apologize to those who have suffered bugs while playing Dear Althea, and I am very grateful to all those who have told me about the bugs they have encountered during their game; being only one person, these bugs had gone unnoticed until now. I hope that with this update, the most common bugs that you have reported to me will be fixed or at least less annoying. To enjoy these changes, be sure to re-download the game to get the April 10th version. Before talking about the new features that this new version brings, I have to remind you that, because the game engine is Visual Novel Maker, there are some limitations that prevent me from implementing: auto-save, the game remembering the language settings or the errors produced when you click too fast the right mouse button. That said, here are the notes on this new version: [olist]
Buy Dear Althea now on Steam or Itch.io with -10% of the total (ends 15 April).
Decide Althea's fate in dark Victorian London. Experience the story of an upper class young woman whose family is falling apart along with her future and who is filled with diverse and interesting characters and may find love.
Finally! This morning I have passed the last Steam check to publish the game and I can announce the final date: Dear Althea will be released on April 9th on Steam and Itch.io.
