Hi Survivors! We've gotten a few questions regarding Keyboard & Mouse controls for the game. KBM support is always active and can be used at any time on top of our gamepad support. If you'd like to see on-screen controls for your control scheme of choice: Go to Settings -> Game Settings -> Controller Icons You can set Controller Icons to Xbox, PlayStation, Keyboard, or Hidden. We also wanted to inform you that an incoming patch will fix the icon sizes for the on-screen KBM control display. In the near future, we will also support key rebinding. Thank you for reading, and we hope you enjoy the game!

Hey Survivors,
Our latest patch for Railbreak is now live on Steam! This patch brings some meaty graphical enhancements to the game, and brings the title up to the 12GB size that was advertised on the store page since launch. If you encounter any instability, just reduce the Texture Quality setting in the Video Settings menu as that area received the biggest upgrade across the game.
Patch 3
- Significant graphics improvements across the entire game. Hard drive space usage increased, however run-time RAM usage only appears slightly higher in-game as per our testing. This change does not affect the game's framerate. - Fixed an issue where the Sinden Lightgun Border would disappear on the Game Over screen.
Hey Survivors!
Good news! A few more glitches have been patched in the world of Railbreak on Steam! These patches are rolling out to all other platforms today as well!
Here's what we did, and don't forget to check the "Update Notes" button on the title screen for this complete list too! We have plenty more updates coming in the weeks ahead!
Patch 2
- Added a "Compile Shaders" button to the Settings menu. - Added the Update Notes screen. - High scores now properly save in all parts of the game. - Added an option in Audio Settings to allow you to set the character's voice volume level independently. - Fixed numerous infrequent softlocks on Acts 2, 4, 5, and 6. - Added an option in Game Settings to allow you to specify additional wait time before moving to another area to make it easier to collect items. - Added an option to the Screen Filter Override in the Game Settings menu called "Never Switch", which will ensure no game overlays ever appear on screen. - Added an option to the Game Settings to specify larger bounding boxes on item pickups. This can only be set at the Main Menu. - Items can now only be picked up if they're visible to the player, and cannot be collected through walls or other surfaces anymore. - Improvements to eliminate a very infrequent situation where being grabbed by a zombie would remove your gun. - Additional performance improvements across the title. - Item highlights now appear at greater range.

Hello again Survivors!
https://youtu.be/y-WS-KRfjDM
Today we're excited to announce a slew of new features for our upcoming arcade on-rails shooter, Railbreak! As previously mentioned, Railbreak will be launching on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, Steam, and Epic Games Store on December 22nd at a price of $19.99 USD worldwide!
Since we last showed off the game, Railbreak has evolved in several really important ways. The work on the game has also enhanced the map design and general gameplay for Outbreak: Shades of Horror, as well. Stay tuned for more information on Outbreak: Shades of Horror in the future!
We have FOUR key categories to touch on today!
1. New Elemental Weapons
If you tuned into our last stream, you may know a bit about these already! The primary and secondary weapons in Railbreak are outfitted with unique elemental effects that can give you an advantage in battle. Load up enemies with electricity and watch them explode! Stop zombies in their tracks with ice ammo! Melt through the undead with fire! Send the body parts flying with explosive rounds! The new elemental effects drive the action into absolutely chaotic territory, so be sure to take advantage of your arsenal!
2. 'Glitch' Gameplay Modifier System
As you progress through the game, things may become a little dicey when new modifiers dubbed 'Glitches' trigger during a stage. Some Glitches may lend a helping hand with infinite ammo or a defensive buff, while others may serve as a thorn in your side with enemies gaining additional health or a storm of civilians running out in front of your shots. With a ton of different Glitches to encounter, you'll need to stay on your toes to survive!
3. New Special Boss Zombies
On top of your run-of-the-mill zombies, keep your eyes out for powerful boss monsters! Boom Boom will detonate itself if you're unable to kill it fast enough! The demonic Fetch will blast and blind you with its powerful laser attack! Things get even hairier when you encounter 'Glitched' versions of these beasts; these enhanced versions of the special infected have are faster, stronger, and tankier!
4. Three New Bonus Modes
Thought you knew all the ways you'd play Railbreak? Think again! Deal with constantly firing and random Glitch modifiers in Glitch Gauntlet! Face off against all of the game's bosses in a unique scenario in Boss Rush! Face a special challenge that serves to thank our supporters in Shoutout Shootout! With these new modes, you'll never run out of ways to play Railbreak either alone or with a friend in optional two-player coop!

Development of Railbreak has taken place alongside Shades of Horror, with each game helping and enhancing the other! Railbreak started as a way to test and build out the co-op functionality in Shades of Horror, and it was so fun that we had to create a full featured experience out of it!
Featuring areas and content from the first act of Shades of Horror, Railbreak is the ultimate sneak peek into how development on SOH is progressing.
If you are an on-rails arcade game fan, you will be as thrilled as we are that the Railbreak features optional support for Sinden Lightguns (Keep your peepers open for a bundle, people!!). Hey Survivors!
We're fresh off almost two solid months of non-stop updates since launch! Check the patch history for the game for all the juicy details, but the largest pieces of community feedback have been addressed and I'm continuing to speak with the community and organize requests on future features, fixes and more! We've seen a full overhaul to the first-person mode, precision aiming in OTS/FPS and much more - and this is just the beginning!
I just wanted to drop a quick note to keep the community in the loop. You'll be hearing more from me on upcoming plans for the title, as well as some additional information in August. Until then, please keep sending me bug reports and feature requests either through our official Discord (check the discussion boards for the link), through the discussion boards or directly at support@deaddropstudios.com. For any critical issues, you can expect me to continue to communicate and patch as necessary.
I hope you're enjoying the title and I can't wait to talk about what's coming next for Endless Nightmares, and the rest of the series.
Best of luck surviving and thank you for playing!

Outbreak: Endless Nightmares v1.06 has been released. This minor update includes:
- Minor fixes to the map and inventory UI systems.
- Minor auto aim improvements.
Outbreak: Endless Nightmares v1.051 has been released. This minor update includes:
- Assigning, removing and calibrating gamepads is now properly supported in the controller remapping menus. Gamepads may be freely reassigned across different players, and you can now configure discrete options per controller like sensitivity, deadzone and more.
Outbreak: Endless Nightmares v1.05 has been released. This major update includes:
- By default, over-the-shoulder and first-person view modes now use a new, modern precision aiming system similar to Outbreak: Epidemic. When using these views and aiming, you will notice a crosshair appear to indicate where you're aiming, instead of the laser pointer. You will need to precisely target an enemy to hit them when using firearms. You can toggle back to the original, classic survival horror version of the OTS and FPS modes in the ingame Options menu. Fixed camera view mode is unaffected by these changes.
- FPS mode has been upgraded to give you better view of your weapon and the environment.
- Precision aiming mode now rewards additional damage for hitting the enemy's head and torso.
- Melee attack range increased for bare hands, knife and the katana.
- Shotguns now deal greater damage at greater ranges.
- Numerous graphical and collision detection glitches fixed.
- Remapping vertical and horizontal mouse movement is now supported in the controls remapping menu.
Hey Survivors,
It's been a wild ride since launch, and it's been non-stop work on crafting updates to address the most common feedback we're receiving from players. Last week, we released the first major patches on Steam to begin improving the over-the-shoulder and first-person shooter views. We're now taking things quite a bit further, and introducing precision aiming systems for these views to offer modern-feeling controls, while keeping all the survival horror fun.
Likely sometime in the next week or two, the following updates will be released first on Steam, then consoles afterwards once it is battle tested.
- Modern, precision aiming for FPS and OTS views. OTS precision view will now become the default view perspective instead of fixed-camera. When aiming in precision mode, you will see a crosshair appear instead of the targeting laser. Aim for the enemy's head or torso to deal additional damage based on what you strike. Leg shots do significantly less damage. Fixed camera mode is unaffected by these changes.
- FPS view has been improved to give you a greater view of your character's hands, weapons and body. When aiming, your weapon will be visible at most angles. You can freely look and pan in every direction just like in a typical FPS. When not aiming and looking down, you'll see much more of your character's body. You will also track your body movement much more accurately in FPS view as well.
- OTS view has been improved to more accurately track the character's movement as well. You will have additional flexibility for vertical and horizontal aiming as well.
- Numerous graphical and UI glitches have been addressed, giving you a smoother, more polished view experience.
- Retro survival horror OTS/FPS views will still be accessible via a toggle in the ingame options menu if you'd like to return to the simpler times.
- Fixing issues where the camera view may change when you're using a menu.
- Damage and difficulty adjustments based on player feedback.
Take a peek below for some shots showing these new views in action! Once this patch is live and deployed to all platforms, we will continue updating the game based on the most common player feedback, so please keep sending it in.
Hey Survivors! As we finish launching the first round of patches for Outbreak: Endless Nightmares on almost all supported platforms, we're now turning to look towards next steps on our roadmap. The largest piece of feedback being shared with us right now is the desire for precision aiming and modern gameplay in the first person and over-the-shoulder views. Our last patch greatly improved these views with freelook, and now it's time to take it to the next level. Over the next week or two, work will continue on overhauling these views to make a modern shooting experience the default when playing Endless Nightmares. For folks who love the retro style currently in the game, we'll have a toggle for you to return to that type of gameplay. Bug fixes and other requests from the community are underway as well. Stay tuned for news over the next week or two. As always, these updates will come to Steam first, then other platforms once they're battle tested. Thanks for playing and sharing your feedback!
Outbreak: Endless Nightmares v1.04 has been released. This update includes:
- Strafing is now supported in the OTS and FPS views.
- Significant improvements to vertical look in OTS and FPS views.
Outbreak: Endless Nightmares v1.03 has been released. Please post any feedback or issues in this forum thread so we can keep working to improve these changes! This update includes:
- Overhauled over-the-shoulder and first person views to allow free look when moving and aiming.
- Expanded inverted looking option to cover all free look functionality in the game.
- To turn and look in OTS or FPS views, you will now use the Look Horizontal and Look Vertical controls. See the controls screen for details.
- Added horizontal and vertical sensitivity options to the in-game options menu which will impact OTS and FPS views.
- Improved handling of the character when they're sprinting and turning in OTS and FPS views.
- Updated default controls on gamepads to map run to right trigger, and toggle flashlight to X. If you've played before, you will need to either reset your controls to default or rebind the controls for this to take effect.
- Minor fixes to the UI on the controls remapping screen.
Tips:
If vertical and horizontal movement feels loose or overly responsive, try changing the deadzone, and horizontal/vertical sensitivity options in the ingame options menu (F1 or Start on your gamepad). The lower the Deadzone value is, the more responsive any movement will be on your mouse, keyboard or gamepad. With very low deadzone, you may find it hard to distinctively control horizontal and vertical movement separately. We recommend keeping it at the default value of about halfway, or higher based on your needs. Horizontal and vertical sensitivity will affect the speed in which your view changes in those directions. If they're too low, you may feel the movement is unresponsive. If it's too high, the changes may feel too rapid. Everyone's preferences are different - so we recommend you play with them a bit until it feels right for you. :)
Hey Survivors, We've been releasing a steady stream of patches since launch focused on direct player feedback. One of the largest pieces of consistent feedback we're receiving is that the OTS and FPS views are currently not in alignment with the typical player's expectations. We're focusing on the next (potentially few) patches on trying to improve these views. We've set up a discussion forum thread chronicling the project and we encourage you to check it out. These patches will launch on Steam first then move to other platforms as they become more mature and battle tested! At a high level, we're trying to better integrate free-look into these views via the mouse and thumbsticks, make vertical and horizontal movement/aiming feel more natural and fix other small issues that have been reported. We're also adding more options to the game like direct control over horizontal and vertical sensitivity in these views. We have a solution well underway now and expect the first patch containing these changes to come in the next few days. After that, we'll focus on follow-up patches to keep addressing player feedback on these views, then explore how we can also make the fixed camera view more usable with different control schemes. Thanks for playing the game and sharing your feedback! Our journey in the world of Endless Nightmares is just beginning!
Outbreak: Endless Nightmares is now available for SteamOS + Linux users! This version is up to date with the latest patch and ready for you to face the undead hordes. Please be sure to post any issues, questions or enhancement requests on the discussion board. Good luck!
Outbreak: Endless Nightmares v1.02 has been released! This update includes:
- Attack range when using firearms has been greatly expanded. You should now be able to hit the majority of visible enemies in your view with firearms that fire bullets.
- Auto aim detection range slightly increased, but far away targets will still require some manual aim to keep a bit of challenge.
- Weapon durability now lowers at a much slower pace in all game modes. You'll notice sometimes attacking with weapons does not affect durability.
- Weapon durability now lowers at an extremely slow pace on Easy Mode.
Outbreak: Endless Nightmares v1.01 has been released. This patch includes:
- Additional v-sync options when setting up your game. You can now enable or disable v-sync, and set it to a desired framerate such as 60FPS, 30FPS, etc... This selection is available when you're setting up your game so you can easily toggle it based on how you're playing.
- Fixed to images in the inventory screen that may appear corrupted in local co-op.
- Minor performance improvements.
Outbreak: Endless Nightmares, the latest retro rogue-like survival horror adventure from Dead Drop Studios, is now available on Steam! Make sure to check out these tips and tricks before you dive into the nightmare. You can also grab the entire Outbreak series, including the latest title, at a great price in the Outbreak Complete Collection!

Hey Survivors! Welcome to Outbreak: Endless Nightmares. The latest survival horror experience from Dead Drop Studios. Before you prepare to enter the horrors of the nexus and anomalies, get some quick tips to help out your first experience!
Try a Game Pad!
Outbreak: Endless Nightmares has a lot of support built-in for most game pads, but it works best with an Xbox game pad. Once your gamepad is connected, you'll notice gamepad button prompts appear and that you'll have virtually full control over the entire game with your game pad. Get that console feeling on PC!
Rebind Your Controls Anytime!
Outbreak: Endless Nightmares supports keyboard, mouse and most gamepads. Even better, you can rebind almost all of the controls in the game across them! The default control scheme tries to give you a great starting point, but you'll want to spend a few minutes prior to your adventure getting everything just right. You can rebind your controls from the Main Menu -> Options -> Controls, or ingame at any time by pressing F1 -> Controls. If you have multiple gamepads, you'll need to select the gamepad you wish to use before trying to rebind its controls - just make sure it's turned on! Please note, there is no mouse look during typical gameplay in Outbreak: Endless Nightmares unless you're using the Tactical Cam (aka Photo Mode). So expect to use your keyboard to turn your character and look upwards or downwards (trust me, you'll see what I mean when you get there, this isn't a classic FPS!). Please note - If you're playing local co-op you must bind controls for the second player. There is not a default control scheme for them in place.
Remote Play Together Guide - Online Co-Op
Please see the following guide for setting up Remote Play Together over Steam.
Pick Your Game Mode
Outbreak: Endless Nightmares offers you multiple game modes, but some of them are better for play after completing the story. You can choose between: Standard Mode - Balanced for a challenging but rewarding adventure. When the game starts, you'll only have your main character's default equipment. Ironman Mode - Same rules as Standard Mode, but if you die - your saved game gets wiped! Randomizer Mode - Item pickups are largely disabled and every time you enter a new room in an anomaly, your inventory is randomized! Lost Hope Mode - Ironman and Randomizer Mode enabled simulataneously. Easy Mode - Start with an impressive arsenal in your storage cache, along with significant damage resistance.
Explore the Nexus
When you start your game, you'll spawn into the nexus hub world. This is a (relatively) safe location where you can explore, talk to NPCs, find supplies and manage your character's level ups. It's meant to be a safe haven and breather between your ventures into the anomalies (aka dungeons). You'll want to explore thoroughly and use your map - there's plenty of loot to find! As you progress, you'll find Conductor's Coins. When you bring them back to the Nexus, you can talk to the Conductor and hand them over to... well, it. As you redeem more coins, the Nexus will continue to expand and new areas will open. Within these areas are NPCs, shops, loot and more challenging anomalies. Keep an eye out for those coins!
Brave the Anomalies!
Once you enter an Anomaly, it's down to whatever you brought with yourself and pure luck to survive. Each anomaly is split into different rooms, and as you traverse them you'll find enemies, traps, puzzles, loot and sometimes even some NPCs or shops! You need to manage your equipment and survive. Every 7 rooms, you'll go to Limbo where you can rest, do some inventory management in your storage cache, and pick either to go deeper into the Anomaly or return to the Nexus with all of your loot intact. Just be aware, as you navigate anomalies your storage cache may not always be accessible. So manage your inventory carefully and always bring a way to defend yourself, as well as healing items! Leave some room for some new loot!
Loot!
Outbreak: Endless Nightmares has a deep loot table, as well as an in-depth crafting system. As you traverse the world, you'll find weapons, ammo and health of varying levels. You'll also find crafting supplies like repair parts, weapon parts, gunpowder and more. A lot of these items can be combined to either dismantle into raw materials, or to build more advanced versions. Have a snazzy magnum and need to take it to the next level? Combine with weapon parts to boost it's damage and fire rate! Did your Katana break? Use repair parts to bring it back to life. Need some ammo? Combine gunpowder with your reloading tools to make different types of ammo. There's tons of options ahead of you - but you'll need to discover all the combinations.
Level Up (and buy stuff!)
As you fight enemies, you'll gain XP (for leveling up) and Essence (essentially cash for shops). Press F1 at any time to see your character stats and level up progress. For shops, you'll find one in the Nexus all the time, and will encounter randomized shops out in the anomalies. Some shops have amazing equipment... others, not so much! It's all a roll of the dice to see what you might get, so save your cash! And make sure to take a trip back to the demon in the courtyard of the nexus. He'll return you to the game setup screen where you can apply perks to your characters that you've unlocked, as well as change a lot of settings!
A View to a Horror Show
Last but not least, don't forget - you have multiple views you can play the game in! You can choose from retro fixed camera views, over-the-shoulder, or a first person view. Change your view with C at any time. Also don't forget to check out the Tactical Cam (aka Photo Mode) to freeze the scene and let you fly around to explore and snap some great pics.
Good luck!
Outbreak: Endless Nightmares is designed to play like a survival horror title from the 90's. Archaic mechanics and all. Embrace the jagged edges and fight back against the crushing difficulty. There's plenty for you to explore in this horrifying adventure if you keep at it, so don't give up if you die. Keep fighting, and try to survive!
https://store.steampowered.com/app/1419350/Outbreak_Endless_Nightmares/
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HOKiSeM7hm8
Outbreak: Endless Nightmares twists the series' survival horror gameplay by adding elements of roguelike gameplay. You'll need to explore, hunt for supplies, uncover clues, and fight your way through each anomaly each consisting of semi-procedurally generated instances where both the environment, and the undead, are out to kill you!
Immediately after the events of Outbreak: The Nightmare Chronicles, you find yourself trapped within the remains of Arzt Memorial Hospital the hub to organize your inventory and storage cache, level up your character, or just to take a breather before venturing back out into the chaos. Theres more to discover in the world besides murderous hordes of the undead find the journals scattered about to learn more about the outbreak and ultimately where to find refuge! Dont think death can save you every time you die, you'll awake trapped in this nexus.
Outbreak: Endless Nightmares focuses on extreme replayability by offering multiple character options each with their own abilities, upgrade paths and more! Each time you venture into the anomaly, itll change and become increasingly difficult as you grow in power. You'll need to think carefully about what weapons, healing items, and other supplies you'll bring along. If you're lucky, you may find storage caches that give you access to your expanded inventory, and offer an opportunity to restock. But it's all on you to search your environment for supplies. If you run out ... your fate is sealed!
- Something Old, Something New: Outbreaks signature classic survival gameplay mixed with roguelike elements.

Outbreak: Endless Nightmares Linux Depot [7.26 G]
Outbreak: Endless Nightmares twists the series' survival horror gameplay by adding elements of roguelike gameplay. You'll need to explore, hunt for supplies, uncover clues, and fight your way through each anomaly – each consisting of semi-procedurally generated instances where both the environment, and the undead, are out to kill you!
Immediately after the events of Outbreak: The Nightmare Chronicles, you find yourself trapped within the remains of Arzt Memorial Hospital – the hub to organize your inventory and storage cache, level up your character, or just to take a breather before venturing back out into the chaos. There’s more to discover in the world besides murderous hordes of the undead – find the journals scattered about to learn more about the outbreak and ultimately where to find refuge! Don’t think death can save you – every time you die, you'll awake trapped in this nexus.
Outbreak: Endless Nightmares focuses on extreme replayability by offering multiple character options – each with their own abilities, upgrade paths and more! Each time you venture into the anomaly, it’ll change and become increasingly difficult as you grow in power.
Lydia's nightmares continue as she faces her greatest fears! Immediately following the events of Outbreak: The Nightmare Chronicles, she and her fellow survivors find themselves trapped in a dilapidated school-turned-hospital during the outbreak. Soon, they discover something worse than the undead is after them ...
They’re experiencing hallucinations and find themselves trapped in an endless loop of horror! They'll need to work together to understand the nature of this anomaly and ultimately find a way to free themselves – or be trapped forever.
