Hi Sailors! Over the past few weeks we've been focused on fulfilling the top requests from the community, so let's start with one of the main additions.
In-Game Tutorial
We've added an in-game tutorial, which can be played both solo and multiplayer. The tutorial will explain the game mechanics as they are presented during the match. We're still adding more information to the tutorial, so don't forget to give feedback if you still have questions about any game mechanics!
Balance Changes
Queen Intent Visualization
It is now possible, while hovering, to visualize which room each queen intends to attack. This addition allows players to have more strategic control on how they will deal with the Queens' attack. In the future it will be possible to disable this view during the match creation.
Others
- Added explosion counter on Ticks.
- Added new types of challenge results.
- Added animation to challenges that force discards.
- Added animation to challenges that destroy ships in space.
- Added animation to challenges that destroy ships in reserves.
- Added several new informational icons in room and ship inspects.
- Added Swarm and Sailors arts to the map, there are still some missing elements and animations.
- Several improvements in the texts to facilitate reading and understanding.
- Various fixes and localization tweaks.
- Removed timer from solo matches.
Fixes
- Fixed background loading issue during character selection.
- Fixed "Left Behind" card animation issue, that allowed players to interact with cards being animated.
- Fixed issue with ships intent animation during Swarm activation, that caused the balloon to flicker.
- Fixed issue that caused the card holding animation to get stuck after being released.
- Fixed rooms hover particles.
New Content
Element Z (Zzyx's Special Card)
Action: Exchange 1 science for any other resource type. Sometimes you have to improvise. Zzyx's special card allows the player to control the Sailors resources. This card is one of the few ways to create rare resources, such as fuel.
Other
- Integrated new main menu.
- Added new effects to the "You're next" skill card.
- Added new effects to the Cancel Destination card.
- Added card remaining counter in the Joker Room.
- Added new effects on ship movement cards.
Fixes
- Fixed issue during an action sequence with the Wasp Control room.
- Fixed issue during a sequence of actions with the Cargo Control room.
- Fixed issue where characters could turn invisible.
- Fixed issue where fire effect could turn invisible.
- Fixed action panel during a decree.
- Fixed ships intent arrow.
- Various localization fixes.
- Removed minimum number of players to start a match. It is now possible to play games solo or with just a friend. This is not the intended way to play the game but this should let players try out the game when there are no other matches available.
- The Maximum number of betrayers is now configurable. You can play matches with less or even no betrayers. If you just want to cooperate to win or try to learn the game together, you now have that choice.
- New Intercept Challenge choice animation. It should now be clearer what option was randomly selected in case of time out.
Bug Fixes:
- Fixed Luck bar pin positioning
New Content
Change of Plan (Eve Special card)
Vote (Setup Step): Dismiss the current vote check. Who said you need to follow the rules? Eve Special card allows her to completely dismiss any vote check during its Setup Step. This powerful Special card can be used to either escape from tough situations or even remove any chances of reaching good outcomes.
Balance Changes
Lucky Dice
Nerf: Reduced pass increase from 25% to 20%. Reason: We re-balanced most of the luck values so that players dont need to rely on Luck Dices plays.
Intercept Challenge
Nerf: Reduced pass chance from 75% to 60%. Reason: This card is intended to be considered a risky play. Previously players had 100% success when combined with a Luck Dice. This is a huge nerf and we will keep an eye on how this card will perform to see if we need to tune up its value again.
Cancel Destination
Nerf: Reduced pass chance from 75% to 65%. Reason: Same as the Intercept Challenge. However since this card has fewer uses than Intercept Challenge we decided to keep its value a bit above the Intercept Challenge card.
Anti-Tick Room
Buff: Increased pass chance from 25% to 30%. Reason: This is an indirect nerf to the Ticks since they were too punitive to the Sailors.
Jump Control Room
Buff: Reduced fail chance for each battery value.
- 3 batteries: from 90% to 80%,
- 4 batteries: from 75% to 60%,
- 5 batteries: from 25% to 20%,
Luck Checks
Tuned up most Swarm challenge values to make it a bit easier for the sailors to pass these checks without a Lucky Dice.
Other
Included last Demo patches and bug fixes. Fixed Swarm cards inspect description. Fixed Anti-Tick location inspect description. Various other localization fixes. Updated Portuguese (Brazil) localization.
Hello Sailors, welcome once again to our devlog. With all things considered, 2021 was a blast to us, as we finally launched the game to the public. We want to say thank you to everyone that played our demos, you guys helped us a lot to shape our next steps! We expect that 2022 will be even better! Well, lets get started as we have a lot to cover today.
Match Search and Lobby System
Addressing one of the most common requests, the game now has a completely new way to find and create matches. Moving away from our old party system, players are now able to create and search for lobbies.
Lobby List All public matches will be listed here, including running matches, which should help you to group up even if other players are in the middle of a match.
Lobby Players will be able to create both public and private lobbies, invite friends using the steam friend list or through code. The host may also set additional preferences such as language, if you want to play through text, voice or both. Expect to see more options in the future!
New Main Menu
Following the lobby system addition, the main menu has changed to better accommodate the new flow.
Configurable Game Settings
Since we are still balancing the game using fun as our baseline, some players might find the game too easy or too hard with each mechanical addition/change we make. To help address this, we will add presets and configurable settings that should help players tweak the game to how they prefer to play. The next demo will only feature a configurable game speed, since this is one of the most common requests we hear from players of all skills. Some of our planned settings will cover changes to rules, letting experienced players toggle back some of the previous and future changes we made to help newer players (Such as less punitive infirmary/brig rules). This addition will also let us release opt-in changes, where players will be able to play using rules that are still in development.
Roadmap Update
These are the additions and changes to our roadmap:
- Dropped the matchmaking in favor of the lobby system (To be released in January).
- Added Tutorial.
- Added End Match Overhaul.
- Removed UI/UX Improvements (The Card/Ship improvements solved most of our UX issues).
Changes/Fixes
- Here is a non exhaustive list of changes/fixes that will make into our next release:
- Added Brazilian Portuguese localization.
- Game settings (turn speed).
- Reconnection improvements.
- Various localization fixes.
- Fixed camera lock after Swarm Turn.
- Fixed a rare desync during Swarm Turn.
- Fixed client reconnection during character selection.
- Fixed character selection when other players are still connecting.
- Fixed main menu loading animation.
- Reduced main menu loading time.
- FPS graph values are now updated according to the game framerate limiter.
- Added new graphics options (trail quality).
Last Demo and Early Access Date
Lastly we are really happy to announce our early access date: January 26th. Furthermore, we will have a public demo available starting January 6 and will last until our early access launch. And thats it for today! Happy holidays to everyone and see you Sailors soon!
Hey Sailors! Here we are once again with another Demo! This time we are participating in the Steam Tabletop Fest 2021! As we have said in our previous post, we have had lots of changes and new additions since our last Demo.
Cards Improvements
Since the last post the card controls have been considerably improved. Not only that, almost all cards now have custom animations that will help players understand their effects. Those who played our last demo will easily notice these changes.
Ship Control / Board Improvements
All ships' controls have been reworked. Players are now able to order ships through the use of the newly introduced order skill cards. These cards have 0 vote value and can be acquired through the Sailors facilities. Pilots now also have two additional special cards that enable them to move their piloted ship.
View other players cursor
Not much has changed here! There are still some improvements planned for the future but current features should be enough for now.
Bug Fixes and Other Improvements
There are other several small improvements which we didnt had the time to list out, but here are some of the most important changes: Players are now able to change their discard selection. Players are now required to click the End turn button to end their turn. This change enables players to play Free Action cards even after they have spent all their actions. Increased character selection time to 5 minutes Fixed a loading issue on some specific hardwares when getting back to the main menu. Fixed some timeout issues when trying to connect/reconnect to the host. Fixed Star density graphics option. Added new Cloud Density graphics option (Helps improve performance on older hardware) Added new Translucency Quality graphics option (Helps improve performance on older hardware)
Updated Roadmap
This has been a massive update which ticks out two of our roadmap planned updates:
That's it for today! Now its time to play some games, see you guys soon!
Hi Sailors! First of all, thanks to everyone that played our demo during the Steam Next Fest 2021. Our team gathered lots of feedback that will help us to improve the next demo :). We are very happy with the community we are creating and everyone that helped us and gave attention to our game these days, you guys are awesome! Our next Demo will take place on the Steam Digital Tabletop that will start on October 21. We are working hard to improve our game and hope you all enjoy the next Update! Here are a couple of things we are working right now for our next demo:
View other players cursor:
Players can now see each others mouse! You will now be able to see what other players are doing and planning. This addition should also improve the communications between players as players can now easily point out things on the board.
Cards Improvements:
Our plan here is to change how the cards are controlled and played to be more inline with how other popular card games do. From now on, all cards will have two types of input: Grab: Cards that can be simply grabbed and dropped to be played.
Target: Cards that need a target input will now give feedback on what it will work. Players will now also be able to cancel the card use.
Both of the gifs above are really early on implementations, the effects and handling should change before the demo.
Ship Control / Board Improvements:
Right now, rooms and ships are hard to control and/or feel janky. Both of these interactions will be reworked to make them easier to understand and control. And thats it for today! Hope you guys enjoyed the demo. We cant wait to see how everyone will react to those changes on our next demo! See you guys soon!

Hi Sailors, we have really exciting news today. We are now revealing our Early Access roadmap!
Each frame represents the most important part of each content update, meaning that you should also expect some extra stuff in between those updates.
This roadmap also means that we will be revealing our Early Access really soon! We should give you guys more info on the subject in the next couple weeks.
Thats it for today, see you guys soon!
Hi Sailors, we are here once again to show some of our progress since our last devlog! The game has changed drastically since our last update and we are now working on the final missing foundation stones. You guys can expect a lot more updates in the next couple weeks.
New Main Menu Screen
Our all new main menu screen. There are still some functionalities we want to add later on but the core is done.
New Select Character Screen
We have a completely new character selection screen and flow. Players can now easily read about each character, show their pick intentions to the other players and select their desired character in any order.
Combat Overhaul
Dodge and miss chances are no more! The space combat now uses a health/shield system, adding an extra layer of strategy and making it more predictable. This is the main and first step in the direction of what we want combat to be.
Swarm Intent
Swarms ships now show their next intention during the turn start. This simple change should add yet another layer of strategy to space combat, as players are now able to make decisions based on how the Swarm will act at the end of the turn.
Second Floor
The second floor rooms are now done! There are some utility rooms such as the Conference Room where players can call for a timeout to discuss loyalties and other rooms focused on the Joker title mechanics. Second Floor:
First Floor:
And thats what we have to show for now. Lastly, we have an exciting announcement to make next Thursday, stay tuned and dont forget to Follow us to not miss it!
Hi Sailors, welcome to our first steam devlog. We previously called this devlog as Monthly Roundup, but due to our development schedule, sometimes we werent able to do a new post around the end of the month. Our goal is still to have at least one post per month, but that may vary depending on whats happening on the development. Speaking of what happened before the Steam reveal, we spent the last couple of weeks making sure everything would, at least, meet the minimum expectations. These are some of the most important changes we did:
Improved Shield Visuals
The new shield now has a more rounded shape and its reflection changes based on the camera view making it possible to have a smaller visual footprint.
New Animations - Two Faces
Two Faces now also have the second set of animations (Scared, Winning, Losing).
Improved Pilot Pins
The pilot head and the pin are now animated instead of a static image.
Improved Inspect Popups
The information distribution of all popups has been improved and any effects applied to the element (cards, rooms, modifiers, etc) will now be displayed. In addition to that, you can access additional information about the element you are looking at by pressing the encyclopedia hotkey button (Defaults to F1/Right mouse button).
Improved Challenges Visuals
All challenges representations have been improved and simplified. The Swarm activation has also been moved out from the challenges (more on that on an upcoming devlog)
New Room Fire Effect
The new fire now uses a shader instead of particle emission. There is still work to do on the animation and variation, but so far we really like what we are achieving here.
Improved Background Stars
Just some small texture changes here. This change also made the stars be affected by the bloom effect.
Rooms Artwork
Yay, the first floor rooms are finally done ! We are still going to iterate on its looks but at least we dont have to use placeholders anymore.
And that's all for today! See you guys soon!
Hello Sailors! We are really happy to reveal Space Betrayers here! The game has been under development for quite some time and we are finally able to share with everyone about it. Stay tuned as there will be news regarding the development in the next couple of days. Finally, dont forget to add us to your wishlist! See you guys soon!
