v0.9.25.47 -- online updates --
- fix issue where a dead remote-character could appear in the wrong location
- prevent server from making too many items
- play sword-hit sound when a client is fairly sure, but not 100%, that they'll hit a bomb (previously this was silent)
- a couple misc things
- a notification recommending gamepad controllers (that is, over keyboard/mouse)
- fix a couple bugs in Bot Battle mode
- fixed (well, prevented...) the stretched-blastZone graphical glitch that could appear if a blastZone got too close to the edge of the screen
- misc polish
In the spirit of Steam NextFest, we'll be doing a Bomb Sworders stream. Come hang out, watch some high-level Bomb Sworders, chat with the dev(s), and hopefully not notice any issues with the streaming setup.
- new background for Mighty Climb level
- ui color tweaks
- tweaks to QuickStart ui, backgrounds
Misc polish
- Slightly better colors for color-blind folks (there's still more work to be done on this)
- QuickStart promoted to its own mode. When QuickStart is completed --> auto-select Battle mode
- fixed some colors in QuickStart
- prevented exiting a tutorial by just accidentally pressing "cancel" once too many times
- fixed issue where the dynamite tutorial could display the wrong score
- fixed issue where blastZones could appear on the level but be inactive given an odd interaction with the freezer powerup
- fixed issue where reading an old save file from the cloud could ignore new default levels, modes, characters
We've been doing a lot of work on online multiplayer. It's coming... but first comes this update with a bunch of misc things:
- New BotBattle mode where you can team up with 1-3 players to defeat bots in 7 progressively-more-challenging rounds.
- Your cannons deathBeam will immediately explode your bombs. This minor tweak makes cannons much more valuable for advanced play.
- Better resolution-handling especially for people on 2+ monitor setups.
- Renamed reference button to library in an attempt to get people to notice it haha.
- DualSense controller support and controller vibration settings.
- Perfect hit if you swing/throw your sword at the moment it flashes white a bit of extra power.
- Removed Race mode it would have taken a lot of work to polish this to being decent and there are already a bunch of great race-platformers out there. (The FlowCam camera controller lives on in other projects)
- Some new level backgrounds.
- Continuing tweaks on the QuickStart tutorial. Seems to be in a great place.
- Tons and tons of little tweaks/fixes.
A few small changes come in v0.8.0.3 and v0.8.0.2
- better support for Steam Controllers. However, standard Gamepad controllers (ds4, XboxOne, etc) are still recommended
- added 2 big experimental levels (Burning Divide and Chute)
- improved AI
- 2 more levels accessible in Horde Mode
- fixed rare level-select bug, overlapped text on trapShot tutorial, spelling fix
This update (v0.8.0) focuses on the games early experience for new players.
- a new "Quick Start" tutorial
- 4 new experimental levels, including one with vertical wraparound
- 3 new characters (Ticket, Bully, and Toad)
- Random level select
- Refined sword swinging -- pump-faking, exhaustion, and charge bonus if you time your swing perfectly
- New song: Luwuk Logic Bomb
The Boost Update brings a *lot* of changes:
- Support for up to 8 players
- AI in Battle Mode
- New item in Race Mode: BOOST!
- New and refined race levels
- New characters
- Refined options menus
- New music
- Plus lots more including better color schemes, improved support for keyboard/mouse (though we still recommend using gamepads if you can!), and tons of bug fixes
See all the details at the Whatnotory blog!
v0.7.8.1 brings a bunch of small changes:
- better interpretation of players intent for recoil at near-horizontal angles
- more reliable, slightly-easier sword swing mechanics and animations
- fixed an exploit where you could assign multiple jump buttons and then mash them all to climb super fast. (As one of the primary abusers of this exploit I mourn the passing)
- Exploder mode: once again displays a running-out-of-time graphic accidentally had hidden it in the previous version as part of a larger-scoped optimization
- fixed issue where items could fail some interactions with other objects after a player death
- Race mode: fixed error when an enemy-owned bomb was near a target at the moment the level was completed
- Race mode: easier to jump off stars
- a couple minor tweaks to some race levels
The first pass at a new single-player mode: Race!
- Get to the flag as fast as you can
- Collect stars, explode targets to improve your score
- Race against your best time (a simple ghost-playback)
- Compare your best scores with others using Steam leaderboards
And other changes too See here for more details and gifs!
v0.7.7.2 is available!
The Groundwork Update adds
- 2 new levels
- better controller assignment, disconnection, and reconnection
- better resolution of multiple button presses that map to the same action (e.g. jump)
- keyboard movement: the most recent directional-input takes priority
- more predictable thrownSword behavior near walls
- refined result of jumping/dashing off an item
- improved AI on tutorial levels
- better interaction with feedback form (F10)
- default keyboard controls now listed in the reference section
- misc bug fixes
A minor update for keyboard/mouse:
- Revised mouse aiming
- Revised default controls
- Better multi-monitor support
We've released v0.7.6.2! Well, actually we call it "The Malevolent Update" It has:
- 2 hard (like really hard..) levels
- + a new sinister song!
There's more too: online high scores for Exploder mode, a rough first pass at keyboard/mouse controls, and lots of other tweaks
