Another release with a couple of interesting features:
- new: Potions - those single-use items can be used by all units (see below)
- new: Despair Attack - lowers defence on successful hit (see below)
- new items: Knight’s Mace, Dagger of Lightning
- update: Windows sound engine defaults to JavaFX - JavaFX engine slows down game a bit more than Open AL, but it should work correctly 100% of time
Potions are a bit of a hack, but seems to work fine. Potions can be used before an attack (to buff Attack power) or to heal.
They are very handy, but the catch is that those are expensive!
AI does not use Potions too well yet, but we are working on that.
We have started to adding more depth to Morale system. Currently units lose morale when taking damage or any of their allies dies nearby. With Despair Attack you might target specific enemy’s morale itself. There will be a few more AOF3 features like Nightmares spell and Bone Catapult that will affect morale as well.
