Quality Control...

Just posting a wee update. I went back to Trawl and changed the sort of "title / on-boarding" screen. It now has a quality control between 1-5 which if you are familiar with Unity is just settings from "crappy looking" to "beautiful". It will also affect the amount of particles we render on your screen. Hopefully this should help some lower end computers! Regards Danny p.s. competition coming soon!

Bug!

Hey sorry guys, I recently managed to put a pretty bad bug in the game and so it might have messed up sometimes and spawned a lot of items all at once! I've since fixed this but there has been some interesting comments about the behaviours caused by it. One guy at least seemed to get something out of saying it was "the single creepiest thing that's ever happened to me in a game ever". So not so bad then! Again sorry and it should be totally fixed now! - Dan

Achievement icons are fixed!

Woops! So, we forgot to add icons for the Steam Achievements and a few people called us out on it. Thank you for that, we're clearly a pair of idiots! They're now in, so happy hunting :) -Nate

EFIGS! and thankyous!

Hey Guys! Firstly I wanna say a huge thank you to everyone who has played Trawl so far. We worked on this in our spare time for the last year or so and to finally see people play it is really over whelming and amazing. I have loved seeing community posts and screenshots go up and I implore you to please share your stories with us :) We wanted to launch with EFIGS localisation in place but hit some tech problems that I have since managed to fix, so that is now live! The game can be played in English,French, Spanish, German and Italian. In the future we would love to run some player competitions so stay tuned for some exciting new updates. Danny

Trawl is a first person experiential game of discovery and creativity.

First you must figure out how to operate the various parts of the boat, manipulating the wheel, throttle and the net. Then, trawl the sea to discover what secrets are hidden in its depths and record your findings on your typewriter. The sea has many stories to tell, and will reward multiple voyages.

  • --

Trawl is not a 'gameplay' heavy game in the traditional sense. Trawl takes places entirely on a small trawling vessel, and you are encouraged to engage with the low-key, though detailed ritual of operating the mechanics of the ship, while soaking in the atmosphere. If you so choose, Trawl can be seen as a sort of writing prompt, with you playing the role of sea-bound detective. How you choose to interpret and record the results are up to you.

It is difficult to say definitively how long each playthrough is, as this depends entirely on how much you engage with the game and decide to write in your in-game journal. If you speed-run the game it could be over in less than 10 minutes, though if that is how you intend to play then this game may not be your cup of tea. Most of our players enjoy returning to sea again and again to see what new secrets they'll uncover and then writing journal entries to share with their friends.

If you choose to record your findings on the typewriter, Trawl will save a text file in your Documents/Trawl/ folder.

===

Because of the nature of the game, we're very wary of giving too much away in trailers, so we hope you'll understand that the trailer focuses more on the atmosphere than on the gameplay :)
