My first experience with using vinyl record players was at a job using 4 players simultaneously to digitize a school's collection as quickly as possible while in a grey, windowless room. I had to switch between listening to each player, one at a time, for a short period of time while also watching the waveforms they were creating on the screen to make sure that they were not skipping.
The process of both pressing and playing a record is a series of translations of movements: sound waves to needle to grooves and back again, in this case into digitized files as well.
A record has a circular shape and rhythm, punctuated by silence and jumps caused by scratches.
Videogames, saturated with shooting guns and bombs, also have a particular rhythm-- objects (sometimes resembling people) get destroyed and traces are left on indestructible surfaces (a bullet hole in a wall) that go away after a short time or after a restart.
