About the Game

As you wonder through the liminal office environment that has been abandoned in the 2000’s, you encounter several eerie paranormal occurrences linked to reported ghost sightings within the local district. You must do the puzzles and act fast to find out what is going on if you wish to see another day!!!

Inspirations

Presented within the aesthetic, environment décor and gameplay, we were inspired by Internet culture surrounding liminal spaces and Gen Z 2000s era nostalgia, also famous urban legends such as The Backrooms and Polybius the cursed arcade machine. Occult and paranormal themes are explored. We wanted to really make the game disturbing and ‘uncanny-valley’-ish to put the player on edge but also have a comforting, familiar vibe to the player in contrast.

About the Team

‘Paranormal Investigation’ was created 4 Level 3 Second Year college students (aged 18-21), with 2 3D artists, a 2D artist and a gameplay programmer. Our team was tasked with creating a virtual escape room game with the client, Make Your Escape Derby.
