Silly rabbit, hooks are for kids literally everything.  Hooks allow you to traverse the level, finally slaughter those obnoxious neighbors that kept you up until FOUR IN THE MORNING arguing about whether napkins were best dry-cleaned or hand-washed, and interact with the environment.  

While Standing Firm, nothing can affect your velocity, you are completely still.
