New Twitch streamer aggregation implemented (#FuckTwitch) due to Twitch's API issues (more info on my Discord )

Step 1: Create an itch.io account!

To avoid losing your download details, create an itch.io account right after purchasing the game! It makes everything super easy.

Step 2: Install the itch.io app

Letting the itch.io app manage your installation is the recommended way to install the game.( optional )

  • Go to the itch app page and click Download Now
  • After the app is installed, log in with the account you created above.
  • Click Library in the menu to the left. This shows you all your games!
  • Clone Drone in the Danger Zone should be there. Click Install.

Alternative: Download the zip file.

Itch offers many installation options, and one of them is to simply download the zip file of the game. No account needed. If you don't enjoy interacting with zip files, you'll probably have an easier time installing the itch.io app. See above.

Here are the steps:

  • Download the zip file that's appropriate for your operating system.
  • Double click the downloaded zip file. This either opens it up in Explorer or whatever Zip Program you have installed (WinZip, WinRAR etc.)
  • Right click in the middle of your opened window and select Extract All
  • Choose an installation location of your choice.
  • Run the a game from the folder you extracted it to!

Troubleshooting: My anti-virus program issues a warning!

Pay attention to the wording:

  • If it says something along the lines of from an unknown developer and could be harmful it's just being cautious. Click Launch Anyway!
  • If it says VIRUS DETECTED! or something along those lines, contact us immediately.

Troubleshooting: The game launches, but crashes with a message about AmplifyColor

Unfortunately this means that your graphics card is not supported. :( Either install it on a better computer, or contact us to receive a refund.

Troubleshooting: Data folder not found

This means you're either trying to run the game from within the zip file, or only extracted the .exe file when you downloaded the game.
Try reinstalling it (see steps above).

pretty fun but here's some constructive criticism:

the music is cool but I can't hear anything past the first 30s of it when it restarts every time I spawn.

judging from the fast movement speeds, you're trying to make a game that is fun to play really quickly but with the current physics being quite slippery, it can feel like you're not in control of your character. you might want to look into input buffering (or jump forgiveness as it's sometimes called) and I would highly reccomend this video.

other than that though, good start.

the real trick now is to keep at it. don't worry if you feel like everything you make is crap, the real masters have made a hundred crap projects and they still probably think their masterpieces are garbage lol.

Thank you very much for the kind comment!

I haven't encountered the problem with the music so I would appreciate it if you could share some more details.

I just watched the video and decided to add a jump buffer, I updated the game but I haven't added much yet, just some moving enemies.

I am planning to fix jumping, fix the loss of previous level's gems after each reset, add enemies and add a losing screen on the next update.(in 2 days perhaps)

Thank you  for the criticism and sharing the video as I learnt more things about game designing!

while playing the web based version of the game, the background music restarts when you die and respawn.
