My first ever Game Jam game!

How To Play:

Goal: Make the Hero get to the next level by entering the hatch.

Press WASD or the arrow keys to move around the enemies.

The Hero will chase and slash at any enemies that are directly in front of them.

The Hero will take damage from enemies that step right next to them, alerting the Hero of the enemy's presence, and turning them to that side.

After a few seconds of inactivity, the Hero will get annoyed, and reset the level.

Description:

This was for GMTK Game Jam 2023, and I made it completely by myself :)

I spent the first day just thinking of an idea, and then when I found one I liked, I thought through very thoroughly what I'd be able to do by myself in two days, and made a bunch of sprites that I could use for the day after. Then that next day, I did most of the implementation - I hadn't worked with top down controls yet until now, nor with Vector2 stuff, so there were some new challenges - and I did a bit more sprite work as well to make use of Rule Tiles, which made making the levels at the end a lot easier as well. Then on Sunday I finished up the implementation, and handed the game to some friends and family, iterated on it a bit, and now it's here!

I'm pretty happy with how it turned out for this being a solo project, and,, only having had two days. I'll be doing more of these!

(PS, yes, I'm aware level 2 and 3 are way too hard, way too early, if I worked on this for a bit longer than I did I'd absolutely work on the onboarding)
