Not sure if its exactly a "reverse" of roles, but I would say that using the animation to manage the character instead of having the controls manage the animation is backwards enough for my ~24hr time span.

- Use your Mouse to drag the frames on to the player to perform different movements

Tip: You can switch the slots that the frames sit in by dragging a frame over a different item slot.

- And I know its weird, but you must have the idle animation on the character in order to use the walk frame. Saying it here in case the in-game text wasn't enough.
