Welcome to Bugularity

Inspired by games such as "Fireboy and Watergirl" and "It Takes Two"

"Bugularity" is a cooperative experience where you and one other person play as an Ant and a Beetle on the same keyboard, platforming your way through a course of obstacles and hazards to find your way home.

This game was made in 48 hours for the NJIT International Game Developer's Association October 2023 game jam.

Controls:

Ant:

  • [A] - Left
  • [D] - Right
  • [W] - Jump
  • [C] - Crouch
  • [V] - Pick up/Throw Beetle

Beetle:

  • [J] - Left
  • [L] - Right
  • [I] - Jump
  • [Left Square Bracket] - Glide (HOLD)
  • [Right Square Bracket] - Dash (HOLD)

General:

  • [Space Bar] - Reset level (For if you get stuck, ex: Running out of beetle's dashes)

Notes:

This is a prototype/proof of concept game and may or may not see development in the future depending on whether I want to come further develop this project or not (given my own skills at the moment, I have a lot of room for improvement and if I do decide to come back to this project I want to  come back to it with more knowledge about Godot Engine and Game Development as a whole)

This game does have some bugs due to it being made in such a short amount of time (on top of the schoolwork I had to deal with over this weekend). Bugs such as Ant/Beetle clipping into walls while riding each other are known. I didn't get the chance to implement audio. Some features aren't as polished as I'd like them to be (ex: Ant picking up Beetle). Additionally, this game may crash if you die or restart, I don't entirely know why that happens right now as it worked fine in the editor.

In any case, feel free to check out my other stuff now or in the future. I haven't published too too much yet but I appreciate any feedback or advice for the future.

For now though, enjoy the game!
