You are an exterminator, that is your job and obligation, but under these circumstances you are as helpless as any other prey, searching for an unlikely salvation you continue down and down the infested tunnels, remember that your insurance does not cover sixth degree burns and your job does not  give paid sick days.
Just remenber to keep a cold head and you will get through it...
