Story!

The notorious Moray Gang have just secured entry into the famed Bankroft vault! The mother and son team are about to loot the place, when Charles inadvertently locks them in!

Can they escape before the bumbling Charles destroys everything of value in the place?!?

Made for PowerJam 1 a week! A one room jam to make a PowerQuest game in a week, with the theme of EELS!

Credits!

Tom (age 8) came up with the concept of robbers locked in the vault they're trying to rob (about 2 seconds after I told him about the jam). We chatted about ideas and kept coming up with new ones all week. He drew concept art and gui design, and I did game art and massaged things into a game, the with the main goal of doing it in a way that'd make him laugh.

We also used the comicoro font: https://www.dafont.com/comicoro.font

I did the music with a ruler on my desk- just a quick test that I intended to go and do properly, but never did. Liked it though 'cause it reminded me of the weird music from Fat Tulip's Garden. Worked with the balloon and rubber band sfx I made from another jam years ago too. Rand out of time for more sfx than that though!

Room and GUI concept

It was actually super helpful having a concept like this to start drawing from. I manged to whittle it down to just 3 verbs which was already a lot more complexity than I hoped! But a fun challenge adding a custom gui and interface in a week! The "kiss" verb came from playing Space Quest together recently and typing stuff "kiss root monster", etc, which made me laugh as a kid too, so couldn't not include that verb!

Character Concepts:

I originally had "DUH" written on the character's shirt which was hilarious, but it meant I couldn't flip the character and ran out of time to duplicate everything left and right instead of flipping it!

Inventory items!

It was a challenge finding a use for so many items in the game, but I wanted to include as many as possible, and it made it pretty fun, and tied into the final moment of the game nicely too!
