What is MelonFish?

MelonFish is a reaction-based arcade game where you must collect as many melons as you can while avoiding mines all under 30 seconds.

How do you play MelonFish?

Only the mouse is required but to move left click and to return to menu right click. Follow the arrow to find the melons which garner points, yellow melons don't give points but, act as a speed boost and health increase and clock melons give the player an extra 5 seconds of time.

What is the difference between levels?

Levels act as rulesets for you to choose from going like this:

  • Level 1 - No powerups just you, the watermelons and the mines
  • Level 2 - Same as level 1 but, with speed boosts
  • Level 3 - Same as level 1 but, with time increases
  • Level 4 - All powerups, causing absolute mayhem...

What's the context for this game?

This game was made for FishFest, a game jam lasting a week from the 2nd of April to the 9th of April. This game was made in a partnership with my friend Bradley, where I did most the stuff (cause I'm more experienced) and he did the concept art and character design.

The game was a very fun experience as it was my first project with a team as well as giving me a chance to test my skills from the last game jam I did.

Will the game get any updates?

Like most games I make for a specific deadline, no. I don't like to edit these games unless there is a game-breaking bug because they show what I could do in that specific time-frame.
