Yedoma Globula is a first person open world sandbox game. Where players are exploring desolate fractal worlds.

Hike 3D fractals, drive a flying boat through misty caverns. Challenge yourself in impossible environments that never meant to be explored by humans, find natural formations that no one has ever seen before, not even dev himself.

Players can walk, climb, or jetpack their way around, use special equipment to navigate their way through jagged terrain. Drive around flying vehicles and teleport between different worlds, traveling through one huge metaverse of interconnected worlds. There is a day-night cycle and different weather conditions.

Currently there is not much in terms of actual gameplay. Future plans include resource mining and management, life support systems, outposts, bigger ships, environmental hazards, natural disasters and hostile fauna.

Game will feature network multiplayer for cooperative play. Players can host their own servers. PvP is also possible, but won’t be the focus in decision making.

Who?

Game is being developed by one person, Gregory Ivanov, with occasional help from undisclosed intelligent beings. Work on fractal rendering and lighting prototype started in 2016.

How?

Yedoma Globula is a unique mix of custom experimental techniques with more traditional ones. Fractals are defined by signed distance functions and rendering using hierarchical conemarching. But at the same time, plain old polygonal geometry is used for all entities and man-made structures.

Are these fractals actually random?

No. They are procedurally generated, but generation parameters are handpicked by the author and don’t change between sessions. This ensures they are all beautiful, interesting and glitch-free.

System requirements

Win10 64bit, a dedicated video card is highly recommended. GTX 960 or similar will run the game at FullHD and 60 fps. You can scale down resolution to get comfortable performance on older hardware.

Modding

Game is easily moddable with resources open, and tools included. It uses customized Urho3D engine. Majority of game logic is written on AngelScript. Fractal formulas are GLSL code that also gets converted to C++ and compiled for CPU usage.
