Steredenn: Steam hull maintenance

Hello! We did some Steredenn maintenance today. We changed the depots / the app configuration on Steam. Before, we had the old game available on the regular app. The DLC files would replace the old game. This allowed a cool feature: we could switch between the old and new game when the DLC was released. However, as we updated the engine, the file structure changed and we had some duplicated librairies causing crash on Linux / Steamdeck, or macOS installation write errors. We took the decision to remove the old build. Now, the app has the latest version of the game and the DLC is... empty! We hope this will solve Steamdeck & macOS issues and not cause any new ones. Steredenn 2.6.0: Incoming Transmission

Hello! You were probably not expecting an update, but here it is!

Features


  • Add Basque translation

  • Add an "easy" mode: It's not going to be super easy, despite the name "Space Tour", but it should allow more people to enjoy the game: more damages, more lives, slower bullets, more invincible time, slower bosses. Leaderboards are now split by difficulty. You can select the difficulty before starting a new solo or coop game. Arena and Daily runs will are locked in Normal. ALl unlocks and achievements are available in the easy mode.

Steredenn 2.4.1: See The Light

Small bug fixes update. We will wind down Pixelnest Studio starting January 2019. We had an incredibly fantastic time doing Steredenn and other projects, but it's time for us to move on to other adventures. Pixelnest Studio will still be alive (for at least a few years), and we'll keep supporting Steredenn, but it won't be our main activity anymore. It's not a sad ending, quite the contrary in fact: we prefer to end on a very positive note. You can read more in our journal.

Steredenn 2.4.0: The Sixth Extinction

Guess we're all wrong sometime? We thought the last big patch would be the last, but alas, some bugs crippled the game performances during high-end loops. We fixed most of the bugs — well, we hope —, and since we were at it, we added some nice little things as well. Better late than never. However, I should mention that, to correct some of these bugs, we also had to re-balance the loops and some items. This shall be the last. Thanks again! Bye, wanderers.

  • The Red Baron starts the game with its own background (except if you let the full intro plays).

  • Improve performances in loops.
  • Improve performances of suicide bullets.
  • Rework the Stasisgun , Stasisbot, and Rocket Circus animation (the weird blue gel). This should fix most of the bugs that you encountered while using these weapons. And bonus: it's prettier.

Steredenn 2.3.0: Eternity

Say hello to a new batch of bug fixes and other tweaks. It's also time for us to say goodbye. This patch is probably the last big one. At this point, we think the game is in the shape we want, without big bugs remaining. There could always be more tweaks and changes to be done, but at a certain point, we have to stop. And we think that this patch is a good place to say it. It was a hell of a ride for us, and we want to thank you for playing Steredenn and Steredenn: Binary Stars!   • Add a few iframes when the Fury lands after using its special ability.
  • Increase the speed of the Fury's ghost (special ability).
  • Increase precision of the Fury's special ability.
  • Reduce the area of the explosions of the Fury's special ability.

Steredenn: Binary Stars

Steredenn: Binary Stars is finally available on Steam!
It's bundled as a free DLC, automatically included with your Steredenn purchase. Restart Steam, and you should see a new update available. You get the 2.0.0, 2.1.0 and 2.1.1 updates in one package. The leaderboards are also new. You can still check the old ones, but Steredenn: Binary Stars is a fresh start for everyone. To recap quickly what Steredenn: Binary Stars is:

  • Local 2-players co-op mode;
  • 5 new playable ships;
  • Boss Rush mode;
  • Tons of new content (music, bosses, upgrades, weapons, waves).
Below, you will find the 3 changelogs, if you want to read more about the changes. You can switch between Steredenn: Classic and Steredenn: Binary Stars at will, just by clicking the checkbox in the DLC list. Obviously, there isn't many reasons to play Steredenn: Classic instead of Steredenn: Binary Stars, but if you are nostalgic, it's still possible. ;)

Steredenn 2.0.0: Binary Stars


After a year of work, we are excited to release Steredenn: Binary Stars, the hugely improved and massively expanded version of Steredenn. This changelog, as you might expect, is a big one. This update changes so many things that we thought it deserved the big number increase. - Your savegame will be deleted. It's a new start. We revamped the progression system, and we think it will be better for everyone to experience it. Don't worry, for an experienced player, this won't take long (you just lose the Arena and unlocked weapons, after all). - The leaderboards will be erased too. With the new scoring system and mechanics, it doesn't make sense to keep the current ones. What's in this 2.0.0? The main highlights are: - 5 playable ships with a new special ability mechanic. - Local 2-players co-op mode. - And many more new and upgraded things. Read on for a detailed list. It's a culmination of a ton of work from our part. This makes Steredenn an even better game: the experience has been enriched and diversified in many ways. I don't think we can really improve the game anymore (except for bugs fixing bugs is a never-ending task like this game). Not in its current form anyways. ;) Enough chit-chat, let's dive in! A fair warning: this changelog is very exhaustive and contains SPOILERS. If you want a pure experience without knowing anything, don't read it. You have been warned. Features
  • 5 playable ships.
  • Local 2-players co-op mode with special leaderboard.
  • Boss rush mode. Face a pre-selected roaster of bosses, and beat them! You can try as many times as you want, and your score will go ina special leaderboard. This is a weekly challenge.
  • Secret bosses. If you do a certain thing (Zhu Li, do the thing!), you will earn the privilege to fight against one of the secret bosses.
  • 3 new music tracks: Binary Stars, Supermassive, Star Devourers. Listen on Bandcamp.
  • Cargos can drop Medkits and Ultramedkits. This is rare, but it can save you from an ineluctable death.
Ships
  • New ship: the "Tempest". This is actually the current existing ship same speed, same health, same damages. Its special ability is to use a melee weapon as a third weapon. Taking a melee weapons has a real value now, without any handicap. Yes: you can have the cake and eat it!
  • New ship: the "Fortress". It's slow, it does less damages, but can absorb many more hits. Its special ability is a rain of homing rockets. There's no subtlety here: just rush into the battlefield. Everything is gonna be fine, trust us.
  • New ship: the "Fury". You got less health, but more damages. And this ship is fast! Its special ability is a teleport. Press the button, choose your target, and bam! You're there. If you quickly press the button, it will teleport a few light-years before you instantly. Because it's Steredenn, the teleportation is, obviously, explosive. If you teleport near an enemy ship, there's a good chance that you will wreck it.
  • New ship: the "Specialist". The master of Bots. This ship is radically different from the previous ones. You can only use Bots. If you orbitate near them, they will become invincible, so use them as a wall! Its special ability is a Boosterbot and you can only have one at a time. This Bot changes the behavior of the other Bots under its aura. For example, a Gunbot will fire a huge number of bullets in a larger cone, but will deplete faster. A Bot under the influence of the Boosterbot is not necessarily better, but its new behavior can be used to handle different situations. This is key to the gameplay of the Specialist. Try everybot, with or without the booster, and you will understand.
  • New ship: the "Red Baron". Like the Specialist, this ship is completely different. This time, you start the game with 4 abilities and that's all. No cargo, nothing else. The first ability is a spread gun to destroy light targets. The second ability is a huge laser. Yes, you read it right. A freaking huge laser!! This is your main weapon against medium targets. Finally, your last weapon is a grenade. You can charge it to launch it far away. The more you charge, the more damages it will deal. The last ability is not a weapon, but a Speed Boost. Move at an unparalled velocity and dodge everything, or re-deploy yourself quickly in better spots and fire at will!

  • 2 new bosses.
  • New boss: "Cruiser MK-II".
  • New boss: "Carrier MK-II".
  • 6 new secret bosses.
  • New secret boss: "Verdukul".
  • New secret boss: "An Old Friend".
  • New secret boss: "Garbage Collector".
  • New secret boss: "Alien Threat".
  • New secret boss: "SUPERCHABAL".
  • New secret boss: "The Red Baron".
Weapons
  • The "Bullet" category has now 11 weapons, 12 with the default.
  • The "Energy" category has now 11 weapons, 12 with the default.
  • The "Heavy" category has now 11 weapons, 12 with the default.
  • The "Bot" category has now 10 weapons, 11 with the default, and 12 with the Boosterbot.
  • New "Bullet" weapon: "Helixer".
  • New "Bullet" weapon: "Hypershotgun". We had a shotgun. But no Hypershotgun. What a shame. This is fixed.
  • New "Bullet" weapon: "Sniper". Check the cursor: if you target a special area of an enemy, you can demultiply the damages you'll give.
  • New "Energy" weapon: "Fusion Blaster" (Fury's default weapon).
  • New "Energy" weapon: "Fusion Hyperblaster".
  • New "Energy" weapon: "Lightgun". A pulse of light rays.
  • New "Energy" weapon: "Ultrabeam". Take the Ultralaser, apply the reverse effect and bam: the Ultrabeam. Focus on an enemy, don't release your fire and watch it get bigger overtime.
  • New "Energy" weapon: "GLORYHAMMER". Faster than a laser bullet.
  • New "Heavy" weapon: "Fire Blaster" (Fortress' default weapon).
  • New "Heavy" weapon: "Fire Hyperblaster". You might have understood now that we love the word Hyper?
  • New "Heavy" weapon: "Frag Missiles". If your big girl/boy doesn't reach its target, it will destructure itself into many homing missiles.
  • New "Heavy" weapon: "Lag Cannon".
  • New "Bot" weapon: "Blasterbot" (Specialist's default weapon). Combine the three other default weapons for a devastating effect.
  • New "Bot" weapon: "Fusionbot".
  • New "Bot" weapon: "Demuxbot".
  • New "Bot" weapon: "Ninjabot". Trained in the dark art of stealth, your Ninjabots can conceal themselves into the Darkness of Space.
  • New "Bot" weapon: "Drillerbot". With the Specialist, you can hold them and create a huge stack of mini-drills.
  • New "Bot" weapon: "Laserbot".
  • New "Melee" weapon: "Razorblade" (Tempest's default special ability). Tiny but handy.
Events
  • 4 new events.
  • New event: "Bumpers". A bumpy ride awaits you.
  • New event: "Bulletmines". Okay, mines were great. A bulletmine? More laughter!
  • New event: "Bulletstorm". At this point, a bulletstorm shouldn't surprise you, right?
  • New event: "Quantum Asteroid Field". We thought the Asteroid Fields were too easy and we should add a variant that can teleport. Because we can.
Upgrades
  • Upgrades have a title and a description. This way, you can better understand the actual effect of an upgrade.
  • 5 new upgrades.
  • New upgrade: "Chain Reaction". When an enemy ship is destroyed, it creates a small shockwave. Which can trigger another shockwave.
  • New upgrade: "Guardian Angel". Prevent death once per level. Basically, it gives you another HP when you should have died the first time it happens.
  • New upgrade: "Heavy Armor". When you are hit by a bullet that does 3 (or more) damages, it reduces the amount you take by one.
  • New upgrade: "Ancient Power". Create an electric damage aura around you in a small radius.
  • New upgrade: "Next-Gen Special Ability". Boost your special ability. The effect depends on the ship you are using. The Tempest creates an additional shockwave when you use its melee weapon. The Fortress throws more missiles. The Fury deals damages before and after its teleportation. The Specialist can use two boosterbots, that gain the ability to mirror bots with a weaker ghost. The Red Baron becomes invulnerable for a few frames when using its Speed Boost, and throws mini-grenades with the bigger ones.
  • Artefacts: 7 deadly game modifiers that change the flow of the game. They also increases the difficulty.
Misceallenous
  • New scoring system. Like the old one, but simpler. There is no type of wave anymore. If you destroy all the ships, you gain one combo, if you take no damage, you gain one combo. That's all.
  • Export your death gif (only on PC/Mac/Linux).
  • Add 14 incredible space environments.
  • Add 42 new waves.
  • Rework the background of the main menu and first level. This environment is huge. Have some time to lose? Wait and watch the main title screen.
  • Rework hyperspace animation. Smooth!
  • Rework pause UI. Pretty!
  • Update the tutorial with a special ability section.
  • Add new achievements on Steam.
  • Add new tips.
  • Add toast when a weapon, mode or ship is unlocked.
  • Animate rocks, mines and events a bit to make them more "alive".
  • Easter egg.
  • Better cheat protection.
  • Improve many parts of the UI.
  • Add the ability to rebind all the controls and controllers.

Bug fixes/technical stuffs
  • Improve japanese translation.

  • Make black overlays bigger to prevent a small 1px gap on the sides.

Balance
  • We checked many upgrades to make them better interact with other aspects of the game. We squashed some bugs or missing effects there aswell.
  • Improve some enemies patterns in loops.
  • Improve "Score" upgrades.
  • Make later loops harder (5+). Why? The game wasn't scaling well enough past a certain number of loops. This was not interesting to watch or play.
  • Balance some patterns (bosses or standard enemies).
  • Balance "Reinforcements" upgrade.
  • Balance all bots (life, contact, duration, ammunitions, etc.).
  • Balance enemy shields mechanic. Before Binary Stars, shields were, most of the time, useless: you had a shield-breaking weapon, or the Shield Breaker upgrade, breaking them so quickly that you couldn't even see them. We reworked the shield in order to make them a real threat: even with the shield breaker or a shield-breaking weapon, they can represent a true danger.
  • Balance the bonus of each event. They give way more points now. This reflects the fact that they make the game really more difficult and require a real reward if you can survive them.
  • Balance Flamethrower. Still powerful, but a bit more restrained against certain types of enemies.
  • Rework the Shockwave. The old Shockwave was not a bad weapon, but we were not happy with the feeling. We tried to keep what made the Shockwave a useful weapon, but this time, it's also fun to use.
  • Rework the Stasisgun and Stasisbot. They are more Flamethrower-like now. And better. Because they were not.
  • Rework the Lightsaber. The old one was ugly and the feeling was even worse. This time, you got a real lightsaber: quick, pretty and powerful. Throw back all the bullets!
  • Rework melee weapon mechanic. It's more robust, but it changes the tempo quite a bit.
  • Ultrawarrior achievement is extended to all ships.
  • And many other balance tweaks.

Let's end with some statistics (from February 22nd, 2018): - The "first" commit (that started Binary Stars) is dated to `March 2, 2017`. The main improvement is on the UI, where we finally found a way to improve retina screens support (offering us the chance to remove many hacks that were required with previous Unity versions). Steredenn: Binary Stars

Steredenn: Binary Stars is finally available on Steam!
It's bundled as a free DLC, automatically included with your Steredenn purchase. Restart Steam, and you should see a new update available. You get the 2.0.0, 2.1.0 and 2.1.1 updates in one package. The leaderboards are also new. You can still check the old ones, but Steredenn: Binary Stars is a fresh start for everyone. To recap quickly what Steredenn: Binary Stars is:

  • Local 2-players co-op mode;
  • 5 new playable ships;
  • Boss Rush mode;
  • Tons of new content (music, bosses, upgrades, weapons, waves).
Below, you will find the 3 changelogs, if you want to read more about the changes. You can switch between Steredenn: Classic and Steredenn: Binary Stars at will, just by clicking the checkbox in the DLC list. Obviously, there isn't many reasons to play Steredenn: Classic instead of Steredenn: Binary Stars, but if you are nostalgic, it's still possible. ;)

Steredenn 2.0.0: Binary Stars


After a year of work, we are excited to release Steredenn: Binary Stars, the hugely improved and massively expanded version of Steredenn. This changelog, as you might expect, is a big one. This update changes so many things that we thought it deserved the big number increase. - Your savegame will be deleted. It's a new start. We revamped the progression system, and we think it will be better for everyone to experience it. Don't worry, for an experienced player, this won't take long (you just lose the Arena and unlocked weapons, after all). - The leaderboards will be erased too. With the new scoring system and mechanics, it doesn't make sense to keep the current ones. What's in this 2.0.0? The main highlights are: - 5 playable ships with a new special ability mechanic. - Local 2-players co-op mode. - And many more new and upgraded things. Read on for a detailed list. It's a culmination of a ton of work from our part. This makes Steredenn an even better game: the experience has been enriched and diversified in many ways. I don't think we can really improve the game anymore (except for bugs fixing bugs is a never-ending task like this game). Not in its current form anyways. ;) Enough chit-chat, let's dive in!   • Boss rush mode. Face a pre-selected roaster of bosses, and beat them! You can try as many times as you want, and your score will go ina special leaderboard. This is a weekly challenge.
  • Secret bosses. If you do a certain thing (Zhu Li, do the thing!), you will earn the privilege to fight against one of the secret bosses.
  • 3 new music tracks: Binary Stars, Supermassive, Star Devourers. Listen on Bandcamp.
  • Cargos can drop Medkits and Ultramedkits. This is rare, but it can save you from an ineluctable death.
Ships
  • New ship: the "Tempest". This is actually the current existing ship same speed, same health, same damages. Its special ability is to use a melee weapon as a third weapon. Taking a melee weapons has a real value now, without any handicap. Yes: you can have the cake and eat it!
  • New ship: the "Fortress". It's slow, it does less damages, but can absorb many more hits. Its special ability is a rain of homing rockets. There's no subtlety here: just rush into the battlefield. Everything is gonna be fine, trust us.
  • New ship: the "Fury". You got less health, but more damages. And this ship is fast! Its special ability is a teleport. Press the button, choose your target, and bam! You're there. If you quickly press the button, it will teleport a few light-years before you instantly. Because it's Steredenn, the teleportation is, obviously, explosive. If you teleport near an enemy ship, there's a good chance that you will wreck it.
  • New ship: the "Specialist". The master of Bots. This ship is radically different from the previous ones. You can only use Bots. If you orbitate near them, they will become invincible, so use them as a wall! Its special ability is a Boosterbot and you can only have one at a time. This Bot changes the behavior of the other Bots under its aura. For example, a Gunbot will fire a huge number of bullets in a larger cone, but will deplete faster. A Bot under the influence of the Boosterbot is not necessarily better, but its new behavior can be used to handle different situations. This is key to the gameplay of the Specialist. Try everybot, with or without the booster, and you will understand.
  • New ship: the "Red Baron". Like the Specialist, this ship is completely different. This time, you start the game with 4 abilities and that's all. No cargo, nothing else. The first ability is a spread gun to destroy light targets. The second ability is a huge laser. Yes, you read it right. A freaking huge laser!! This is your main weapon against medium targets. Finally, your last weapon is a grenade. You can charge it to launch it far away. The more you charge, the more damages it will deal. The last ability is not a weapon, but a Speed Boost. Move at an unparalled velocity and dodge everything, or re-deploy yourself quickly in better spots and fire at will!

  • 2 new bosses.
  • New boss: "Cruiser MK-II".
  • New boss: "Carrier MK-II".
  • 6 new secret bosses.

  • New upgrade: "Chain Reaction". When an enemy ship is destroyed, it creates a small shockwave. Which can trigger another shockwave.
  • New upgrade: "Guardian Angel". Prevent death once per level. Basically, it gives you another HP when you should have died the first time it happens.
  • New upgrade: "Heavy Armor". When you are hit by a bullet that does 3 (or more) damages, it reduces the amount you take by one.
  • New upgrade: "Ancient Power". Create an electric damage aura around you in a small radius.
  • New upgrade: "Next-Gen Special Ability". Boost your special ability. The effect depends on the ship you are using. The Tempest creates an additional shockwave when you use its melee weapon. The Fortress throws more missiles. The Fury deals damages before and after its teleportation. The Specialist can use two boosterbots, that gain the ability to mirror bots with a weaker ghost. The Red Baron becomes invulnerable for a few frames when using its Speed Boost, and throws mini-grenades with the bigger ones.
  • Artefacts: 7 deadly game modifiers that change the flow of the game. They also increases the difficulty.
Misceallenous
  • New scoring system. Like the old one, but simpler. There is no type of wave anymore. If you destroy all the ships, you gain one combo, if you take no damage, you gain one combo. That's all.
  • Export your death gif (only on PC/Mac/Linux).
  • Add 14 incredible space environments.
  • Add 42 new waves.
  • Rework the background of the main menu and first level. This environment is huge. Have some time to lose? Wait and watch the main title screen.
  • Rework hyperspace animation. Smooth!

Hello, This is a very small bugfix release. We hope it will fix the bug crippling Linux users with the (now-retired on Linux) 1.2.0 update. We don't have many Linux machines, so please, tell us if the game has any problem on this platform and your particular Linux flavor. We also fixed some UI glitches and improved the Raygun.

Hi, Today is the second anniversary of Pixelnest. We cooked a small surprise for the occasion. ;) We all love Daily Runs. They bring a breath of fresh air to the game every day. We thought we could improve them quite a bit by adding new options, like upgrades or loops right from the beginning. The new musics are also there. Science Magic and Tensor Forces join the roster. Thanks to Zander Noriega, as usual. ;) Users on Linux might have to upgrade their OpenGL installation. It's beyond our control, unfortunately.

Steredenn 0.25.0: Dashboard Operational

Hello, Small update today. We took some time to work on the translations of the game and we added keyboard re-mapping, as well as an improved UI for input controls.
This release is shaping the game for the official release. And we might have fixed the few remaining nasty bugs. :)

Features


  • Keyboard re-mapping. Yep. Open "Settings", then "Mappings" and here you go.
  • Improve the controls display in the UI: the icons represent your current input method. With support for PS4 controllers.
  • New ending.
  • Improve the tutorial with texts skipping and two new explanations.
  • Add the "Credits" panel.
  • Slightly improved the Arena UI.
  • New teleport effect for enemy ships. Not really visible in the current version. ;)
  • The "Shield" upgrade has been improved visually.
  • Continue the work on the game translation (many additional languages will be available on release day).

  • Small optimizations.
  • We think that we have (once again) found the origin of the freezes between waves. We hope that this time, it will be the last time. Tell us!
  • Correct a bug with the sliders in the Settings.
  • The music is correctly stopped when you quit a game or the Arena.
  • The loops won't use the same wave twice.
  • For people with input lags problem, launch the game with the special flag "-noxinput" and tell us if it improves the game.

  • The Saw is available earlier.
  • The Jaw deals more damages.
  • The Reflector lasts 0.1s more.
  • The Reflector starts in the player's direction.
  • Tweaked the upgrades drop chances.
  • Slightly reworded the events probabilities.
  • The Laser Rain gives +100% bonus score instead of 50%.
  • The "Shield" upgrade works with "Reflect damages when hit" and is not broken when hit by a junk piece.
  • You need to see the bosses a bit less to unlock them in the Arena. For the Mothership, only two encounters will be necessary, for example.

Hello everyone, Big new today: Steredenn is going to be officially released on October 1st! It will be out of Early Access at the price of $12.99 with a -15% sale during the first week to celebrate. As a quick reminder, the game will remain at $8.99 until October 1st. Don't hesitate to get it now or offer it to your friends while it's still low. ;) We have finally reached the goals we wanted to achieve with the game. We are proud of what we have done during the Early Access and by the support you gave us. Steredenn 0.24.0: Super Sonic Shockwave

Hi, We have a small update this week for the few things we couldn't include in the 0.23.0. We have fixed many bugs, improved the music, added some waves and a brand new upgrade. We also added some side-effects to a few upgrades to make them mix well all together. And as always, we made some tweaks to the balance.

Features


  • New upgrade: the Minishield. An additional shield that can absorb one hit (collision or bullet). It regenerates itself when you are not firing. Be careful: the hitbox of the minishield is way bigger than the one of the ship. ;)
  • Waves: 5 new.
  • Improve the music and transitions.
  • The tutorial is really skippable (you could skip it in the 0.23.0, but the game would launch it again at the beginning of the game if you didn't watch it completely).
  • Reworked some upgrades text, again.
  • Bring back the percentages in the upgrades.

Bug fixes/technical stuffs


  • Unlock the Destroyer MK-II after beating it.
  • Bots should no longer make sound during the pause.
  • Bots and Homing Missiles should target the Destroyer MK-II correctly.
  • Cargos are invincible if out of screen. You should no longer see flying capsules coming from the right.
  • Correct some trajectories of the suicide bullets in the loops.
  • Fix a bug of the Spiraler which would not fire sometimes.
  • Fix a bug of the Chainsaw during the pause.

Balance


  • Reduce the maximum duration of a wave to 1:30.
  • Minirockets are always firing (if an enemy is visible).
  • Bots are semi-automatic.
  • The "Semi-automatic weapons are automatic" is also working on Bots.
  • The "Collisions deal less damages" is applied to Bots. Collision-resistant-shockwave-bots? Sure.
  • Reduce the collision damages of the player's ship a bit.
  • In the 2nd (or more) loops, the fighters will always throw one suicide bullet before the player's ship.

Steredenn 0.23.0: The Bug Hunt

Hello! It's been some time since the last update. With the holidays and clients work, we had a bit less time for Steredenn. But fear not, this update is, as always, huge. :)
There's a few big things:

  • TONS of bug fixes and polish. This is the main aspect of this update. We have also reworked and added some upgrades. And, hopefully, we have balanced the weapons. Thanks to you!
  • A tutorial. Okay, we know that you guys have already digged in the game a lot, so this might not serve you. But with this, you will be able to show Steredenn to your friends and let them experience the game in a brand new way.
  • A new boss. The Destroyer MK-II. Harder than the first. ;)
Okay, right, let's read the changelog.

Features


  • New mode: tutorial! The first time you open the game, it will launch automatically. Then, it will be available in the normal mode by pressing "X" (pad) or "C" (keyboard).
  • New boss: the Destroyer MK-II.
  • New system: if an enemy is approaching you from the back, the game will tell you with a gentle warning.
  • New upgrade: Better shield.
  • New upgrade: Semi-automatic weapons are fully automatic.
  • New upgrade: One more chance to achieve a wave. It allows you to let one enemy goes away or to be hit once before loosing the wave objective.
  • Upgrade redesign: Improve collisions damages has been changed to Unleashed a shockwave on collisions. Way more fun.
  • Upgrade redesign: Lasers invulnerability has been changed to Absorb lasers temporarily.
  • Upgrade redesign: Collisions invulnerability has been changed to Collisions deal less damages.
  • Suicide bullets: new color code and better mechanic.
  • Waves: 30 new.
  • Revamped the shield mechanic of the bosses in the loops.
  • Revamped — once again — the music system. Smoother and prettier.
  • We have also added new sounds.
  • Tweak the gamepad and keyboard. They should be more precise in low-speed areas.
  • Nice fade-out between screens and reorganized main menu.
  • And tons of additional polish.

Bug fixes/technical stuffs


  • Waves: the infinite waves should be no more. Please tell us if this happens again.
  • Waves: the freeze between waves is finally eradicated. At least, we hope so.
  • Waves: the objective is only given if you achieve it, as it should normally be.
  • Chainsaw: fix the behavior when they stack.
  • Daily Run: it's no longer possible to force quit to restart a new run.
  • Daily Run: unlock weapons and bosses.
  • Daily Run: fix the multiple lines stacked onto each other.
  • Arena: the Mothership should show a background.
  • Scores: fix the bug with the "Focus On Me" button in the leaderboards.
  • Upgrades: always 5 upgrades, no less.
  • Prepare the game localization. Handle accents and other special characters. It should also improve the nicknames display in the leaderboards.
  • And tons of bugs squashed, smashed and destroyed.

Balance


  • Rework the Carrier boss a bit.
  • The Chainsaw have lost 1 HP.
  • Balance all the bots and the bot upgrade. This should be better and fairer now.
  • Less powerful jaw.
  • More powerful sword.
  • More powerful shotgun.
  • More powerful supergun.
  • More powerful hyperblaster.
  • More powerful driller. Change its type.
  • Tweaked demuxer.
  • If a Daily Run has no cargo, the game will remove some upgrades from the pool.

Steredenn 0.22.0: Bullets Awakening

Hey, What was supposed to be a simple and quick update is in fact a major one for the game. This new version enhances Steredenn so much — and adds a lot of new content as usual. We hope you will like it.
The main features are:

  • Balancing! We entirely reworked the damage system. Before this update, when a bullet hit an enemy, it triggered a small invincibility timer. If another bullet hit the same enemy at the same time, it was ignored. No more. Combine your weapons and smash your opponents like never before. ;) We have added a whole new depth to our damage system too. Some weapons are now better against small ships, others are effective against bigger enemies, etc. You can still destroy everything with any weapon but some combinations are going to lead to faster destructions. Those two points mean we had to completely re-balance the game and the weapons. You will be surprised! It should be smoother and more pleasant. Tell us what you think. :]
  • A new mode, the Daily Run! Everyday, try to be the best in a dedicated leaderboard. You got only one chance. Some days your weapons will be set by the game and there's even a slight chance that a run will have no cargo at all.
  • Loops are now harder and better: it's not as simple as a restart anymore. Fear the suicide bullets.
  • Linux build! We can assert that the game is running on a Kubuntu 64 bits but we need your feedback to make sure the game is running on your system. Please report any issue on the forum: http://steamcommunity.com/app/347160/discussions/0/620713633861901691/.
  • Two new defensive weapons, as suggested on the forums: the Shieldbots and the Reflector.

Bug fixes/technical stuffs


  • No more nasty freezes between waves. If you are still encountering this problem (but you shouldn't), tell us on the forums.
  • More efficient Flamebots.
  • Fix a bug with the shields.
  • Fix a bug of the Baygun and the Charger.
  • Chainsaw enemies no longer stack.
  • The Mothership should gives its score correctly.

Balance


  • All the weapons and enemies have been rebalanced. Slightly for the enemies… a lot for the weapons. Each weapon has a type (light, medium, heavy, fusion) and each enemy has an armor (small, medium, big, boss, building, blocker). If you combine the correct weapon against an enemy, you can unleash a devastating attack… Observe the game and try to learn how to maximize your damages. :)
  • Upgraded some enemies' pattern for the loops. We still have some work to do on the bosses.
  • Enemies and bosses are faster, more resistant and give more points during the loops.
  • An event is only active during its effect, not for the whole level.
  • Reworded some upgrades.
  • The "+1 Health Point" is now "+2 Health Points".
  • The "Drop Superior Weapons" upgrade has been removed.
  • The "Category - +50% Drop Rate and +10% damages" is now "Category - +50% Drop Rate and +15% damages".
  • The "Category - +50% Drop Rate and +15% damages" reset all the drop of its type. If you have picked an Hyperblaster before and you pick this upgrade for the "Bullets" category, you will have one more chance to drop it again.
  • Specific upgrades have more chance to drop when you hold a weapon of their type.
  • The Heavy Battleship shouldn't be invincible in the loops anymore. ;p
  • Bots search for new enemies a bit faster.
  • Bots target the bombtrap.
  • Bonus have an increased time to live.

Steredenn 0.21.1: it's better with scores [HOTFIX]

The today's release had a bug with the scoring system. Sorry. It should hopefully be fixed. :)

Steredenn 0.21.0: fear of a Mothership

Hello everyone, New update today! There are three main things in this update:

  • The Mothership — the final big (dare I say huge?) boss. It's not fully done — the pacing is a bit too slow and we need to add a few patterns along with sounds — but it's a good start. By adding the Mothership, we have completed the first loop of the game. We will focus on the loops for the next updates. Of course, as soon as you beat the Mothership, it will be available in the Arena. It won't be easy, though. We have added the last music of Zander Noriega for when your are facing this deadly beast. Good luck captain.
  • A new mode, unlocked by defeating the Mothership. This mode is the "Superplay", which allows you to select a variant of the game (with a number). Each time you play this variant, you get the same waves, weapons and upgrades. It's perfect for speedruns or high-level trainings.
  • Tons of new contents: two new contact weapons, three new enemies, 43 waves and a whole new level (paving the way to the mothership).

And we are very happy to say that we have annihilated one of the biggest bug in our bullet patterns: sometimes, the first bullet of a pattern was not following its direction. This is now over. Features


  • New boss: the almighty Mothership. With this boss, the standard run of the game is complete. We will continue to improve the Mothership in the following weeks.
  • New mode: Superplay. The Superplay mode removes lots of random in the game. You choose a variant — a number — of the game, and this variant will always generate the same waves, weapons and upgrades. This mode is unlocked when you finish (by beating the Mothership) the game once.
  • New weapon: the Sword. Crush those ships!
  • New weapon: the Jaw. Because… why not?
  • New enemy: the Heavy Turret.
  • New enemy: the Heavy Fighter.
  • New enemy: the Heavy Battleship. Bigger, deadlier, heavily armored. Don't mess with it.
  • 43 new waves.
  • Redesign: the Flamethrower, a shiny new burning beauty.©
  • The player's ship shows a small aura when it is hit.
  • You are invincible after beating a boss.

Bug fixes/technical stuffs


  • The Ultralaser now uses the "destroy junks and rocks instantly" upgrade correctly.
  • We have fixed some upgrades which were not properly applied to weapons.
  • The "Backfire damages" upgrade is optimized.
  • The Autocannon upgrade has been improved. It should no longer target invisible enemies.
  • Weapons are sorted by category in the Arena.
  • Bots and Autocannon can target a Cargo and should be more intelligent.
  • The Battleship boss should now longer be blocked on its first pattern.
  • We have re-done the level generator. It should remove the little freezes between waves, and it should also fix the infinite wave bug (we hope).
  • We have also added a timer to trigger a new wave if a wave is frozen indefinitely.
  • Rejoice: we have finally squashed a big bug in our patterns. For example, the Corvet first big pink bullet will go where it is expected.

Balance


  • The "Laser immunity" upgrade has been tweaked. Instead of protecting you completely, it slows you down when you are hit by a laser. It's still better than being hurt, but it's not without consequence anymore.
  • The Cruiser boss is easier. You don't have to shoot a specific part to hurt him from now on.
  • The Battleship boss' first pattern is a bit easier.
  • The +25% score bonus upgrade has been reduced to +20%.
  • The "CATEGORY +50% drop rate" upgrade also increases the damage of its category (+10%).
  • Flamethrower: slighty better.
  • The "Laser Rain" is a bit easier now. Hopefully.
  • Bots benefit from the +XX% damages upgrades.
  • The Rockets are a bit better.
  • The Carrier boss is now launching fighters when she installs the shield.
  • The Carrier boss has a bit less HPs.
  • The Carrier boss fighters generation is a bit slower.
  • The Hypergun does more damages.
  • Thanks to the bug we eradicated in the patterns, some enemies are a bit stronger, like the fighters. Care must be taken!
  • You will start to encounter some standard enemies with a shield. It's a new feature that we included partially for the moment. We will work on that in the future.
