Get your space boots on and get ready to explore a barren planet and make it your home - now is the perfect time to begin your adventure to new lands. One Lonely Outpost will be 50% off and the soundtrack will be 20% off from Jan 24-31! If you haven't done so already, we would love to see your honest thoughts on the game with a Steam review. Hey Colonists!
We know you guys are itching for new content while the team is hard at work on fixes and general improvements. It might not be new content in the way you are hoping, but today we bring something to share that we think is pretty exciting - a UI overhaul is in the works!
Left: WIP - Right: Current - These images are not final and are still subject to change.
Although this is very much still in progress, we wanted to share it with the community and get everyone's thoughts. Two of the main goals with this are to make menus easier to read and make them easier to navigate (especially with controller!).
If you haven't done so already, we would love to see your honest thoughts on the game with a Steam review. Reviews can make a huge different for indie games and we love seeing what you think!
Check out the patch highlights and notes below to see all the improvements, fixes, and changes.
Improvements & Changes
Hey Colonists!
There are a lot of key changes in this update that came directly from your feedback and suggestions. Enjoy some light from lamp posts, fish the shallows with less worry, save your game at any point, and so many other smaller tweaks to make your settling on this foreign planet better.
If you were thinking about getting the game, now is a great time to do so as we are part of the Steam Winter Sale! From December 21st until January 8th, the game will be on sale for 20% off! Make sure to check out Freedom Games' Winter Sale 2023 page to pick up some great games to play over the holiday season.
Check out the patch highlights and notes below to see all the improvements, fixes, and changes.
Now you can save your game at any point without having to go to sleep to end the day! Just open your Omni-Tool and head over to the options tab to save over or load from an existing save.
The fishing mini-game has been revamped and no longer has the slider after dashing to catch the fish. There are also new warnings to make sure you don't miss your drone running out of power!
The decorative lamp posts are no longer just pretty to look at - they actually produce some light! Spruce up your farmstead with lighted pathways - without the need for a power source!
Improvements & Changes
Hey Colonists!
As promised, this update corrects the issue where the new and shiny unrefiner turned into a cooker upon placement. Additionally, the running toggle that was introduced in the last patch can now be rebound on the keyboard!
Check out the patch highlights and notes below to see all the improvements, fixes, and changes.
Introducing the Unrefiner! Now you can take your refined items such as silicone and revert them back to their original state. That's some fancy technology.
Improvements & Changes
Hey Colonists!
The last patch addressed the memory leak and stutter problem, but many of you reported issues with creating the Piranha Drone and the unrefiner with the update. This patch will let you craft your Piranha drone without issue.
As for the unrefiner, it isn't technically implemented in the game yet despite the PGP mailing you one along with the blueprint. Someone at PGP must have snuck it into the outgoing mail without us knowing. The unrefiner will be fully implemented in the next update!
Check out the patch highlights and notes below to see all the improvements, fixes, and changes.
You can now toggle movement speed between a walk and run by pressing Left Shift or L3 on controller. This will be rebindable on keyboard in the near future.
Improvements & Changes
Hey Colonists!
We know it's been a while and some of you have been itching for news - it's finally here!
This update fixes the game stutter that most players have been running into since the last patch plus a host of quality of life tweaks many of you have asked for! Below are three of the key changes in this update. Let us know if you have any further stuttering issues in our Discord!
Added a new gift category: Hated Gifts. Gifting these to the NPCs results in a bigger affection drop
Implemented Omni-tool mishaps: NPCs will now react when an Omni-tool action on them
Current energy percentage is now visible

Of course, as always, things are still work in progress and subject to change between now and Early Access.
Hi everyone! Happy (almost) Halloween! Were back again this month to show off some more of our progress as we work towards our big EA launch next year. The main things well be showing off this month are some more of our NPC lander progress, as well as some extremely adorable animals. Definitely stay until the end to see these cuties! Of course, as always, things are still work in progress and subject to change between now and Early Access.
Happy Fall everyone!
The holidays are just around the corner, but we're not slowing down on our updates! Weve been continuing to work hard on OLO over the past month and have made some incredible progress to show you all today!
We're currently working on getting everyone's landers into the game, all set up and ready for their crew members! Of course, as always, all content you see here is subject to change and may not be a final product. First up, we have Aaron's lander! Back in July's update, we showed off a bit of the concept art, outside view and a glance at what the inside was going to look like. Now we can show off a bit of what the lander is now looking like actually in game!
From the outside
To the inside
Next up we have Jim Bob and Elisha's lander! For anyone who doesn't know Jimbob is a single father to Elisha and definitely enjoys his dad jokes In your lonely outpost, you'll find him to be your water guy, always making sure the outpost has fresh water to drink.
The outside of his lander
The inside
And upstairs in Elisha's room
We also have a look at some of the power generators that you can use around your outpost
We have an upclose look at how they glow at night
And even a look at how they will actually look like as you play in game
As always, if you haven't already, feel free to join our Discord (which will be getting some updates) as well as follow us on Twitter.
To the stars!
Hey OLO fans!
Its been another month of hard development work so we have even more to show off about the game. We do want to start off with talking about our presence at Gamescom! Freedom Games has an awesome booth at the in-person event in Germany, so weve been lucky enough to be able to participate! As part of being in the event, weve crafted a new trailer to show off just how far the game has come since our trailer from E3 last year.
[previewyoutube=nxxwpJ--DI0;full][/previewyoutube]
As you all may have noticed in the trailer, we have delayed the game a little bit longer. I know that this isnt what any of you wanted to hear, but as the great Miyamoto said, A delayed game is eventually good, but a rushed game is forever bad. We want to avoid remotely giving any of you a potentially bad, or even rough game. We are currently targeting March 2023 to launch into EA.
With all of that being said, we do want to show off a bit of what weve been working on over the past month! We've currently been working on updating the environment and UI. The game is getting more and more polished as we're working towards EA.
As always, thank you all so much for your support so far. We know its been a bumpy ride, but knowing that we have such an amazing community behind us supporting us, makes it all feel worthwhile. If you havent already, please join our Discord where you can connect with the rest of the community as well as our team. Discord members also get to participate in different awesome events, which were working on ramping up more as we get closer towards launch, plus exclusive Moocifer adventures!
Hey everyone! Were still hard at work to hopefully be bringing you more content soon and get back on track with showing off all our hard work. For this month's update, as promised with our last update, we have some new and improved art to show off to you all today.
Hey OLO Fans! First off, we want to thank you all for being so patient with us. Its been quite some time since our last update, so we have lots to update you all on. Lets just dive right into it.
In case you missed our E3 segment or just want to see it again, you can view it over on the Freedom Games Youtube channel or just below! Want to see more behind the scenes of One Lonely Outpost, follow us on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram or join our Discord! [previewyoutube=spdk1izN7AQ;full][/previewyoutube]
Make sure to tune into the E3 broadcast today at 1:30pm PT to see our new One Lonely Outpost trailer! Once youve seen it, make sure to come back and tell us what you think about it! Wed love to know your thoughts about all the progress weve been making! Our team lead, Brad, will also be doing a livestream over on our Twitch with Little Rock Games (developers of To the Rescue) and Blue Goo Games (developers of Space Chef) at 1pm PST to talk about To the Rescue, then live react to the One Lonely Outpost E3 segment, and then to talk indie development of games like One Lonely Outpost and Space Chef.
Hi everyone! Today we have some exciting news to share, which is that we can finally announce that One Lonely Outpost will be published by Freedom Games (https://freedom.gg). Weve been working with the Freedom team for a number of months behind the scenes, but are now ready to officially announce our partnership. Teaming up with a publisher is what will help us deliver the best possible game to the most players. For those of you who may not know, a game publisher not only can provide additional investment and funding for developing the game, but also takes care of a lot of the business and marketing side of releasing a game. That includes setting up and managing our store pages and the console release process, marketing and advertising the game, helping showcase the game at both digital and live events, PR, and other similar functions. Really it lets us totally focus on working to make the game the best it can be, and provides us with the resources to do so. Which brings us to another announcement we have to share about our release timeline. Originally we had been aiming to have our Steam Early Access release around October of this year. That timeline was based on our plans and resources at the time, and with changes on both of those fronts (ultimately for the better), weve decided that we are going to push our Early Access release into the first few months of 2022. The decision to push back Early Access was not an easy one, as we know youre all crazy excited about this. We know it may be tough to hear that its going to be even longer before many of you are able to play OLO, but this adjusted timeline will let us deliver a significantly better game to you all, one that really lives up to the vision we have that youve all supported. Well be able to add Multiplayer and detailed, game-wide pixel art, along with just... MORE. More NPCs, more cutscenes, more mini games, more all-around, and all of that will be of greater quality too. Theres even yet again more things being developed that we cant talk about yet because were still validating that theyre possible! With that said, we will be starting our Beta (Earlier Access, as weve called it previously) further in advance of the Early Access than originally planned. Before it was going to be about 3 months before that release, but now it will come in October, more like 5-6 months before normal Early Access. We are also NOT pushing out the full release of the game at this time - we are still on track to fully release OLO out of Early Access in late 2022. Well see how that date holds up in the long run, but for now its still good! You may also be concerned about horror stories of publishers ruining the vision of a game or forcing arbitrary restrictions on the dev team. For Freedom, that cant be further from the reality we have experienced with them. Freedom has been an amazing partner to us, only enhancing and supporting our vision. We were very careful when considering which publishers offer to accept, and selected Freedom because they are committed to our vision of the game, and only want to see it reach its full potential as we see it. We maintain complete creative and development freedom, and Freedom (heh) wouldnt have it any other way! As if that wasnt enough, the Freedom Co-Founder owns a 60 acre farm! How cool is that? As always, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your support and encouragement! We cant wait to share One Lonely Outposts truest vision with you all. (PS: If you are a Kickstarter backer, dont forget to complete your BackerKit survey if you havent yet done so!)

Progress Updates
Expanded Team & Game-wide art upgrade: We've added 3 new artists, Irina, Matteo, and Gregor, rounding out our art team to perfection and allowing us to tentatively push towards our ideal vision of the game - fully rendered environments! I've always disliked that the concept art usually looks better than the game. So, we're now pushing towards having the entire game hand-rendered in pixel art! Tiles and grids will only be in the game to aid with farming and customizing your farm area - the rest will be beautifully hand-created pixel art.
Multiplayer Groundwork: Multiplayer has definitely been our biggest hurdle as its taken considerable rewiring in the game in order to make sure that it works how it needs to. But! The sooner we put 'the time' in to finish the not-so-interesting mountain of work that goes into multiplayer, the less work it will take overall, leaving more time for other features we want to add. If all goes well, we'll be out from under the shadow of multiplayer rewrites by the end of April, and there might even be a (VERY shaky) version of it to try then! Or maybe not - multiplayer is known in the industry as the most difficult feature you can add to a game for good reason, so we'll just have to wait and see.
Animals: Another big thing were going to be working on adding into the game is the ability to purchase animals and their robo animal counterparts.
More To Come: Some more exciting things happening with the project which we will cover in the next update!
Make sure to join our Discord for some behind the scenes happenings there, as well as getting direct access to ask the devs questions!
