Important Informations
We started an update progress to Unreal Engine 5 a while ago and abandoned it because of the sheer number of bugs and issues the upgrade brought with it. This time it took us roughly a month to get the game fully working on UE5 with a lot of bugs fixed early on. However there is a potential this update brought with it new until unnoticed bugs we did not catch. Please report all bugs so we are able to fix them! The game was not designed around Ray Tracing, which means especially interiours can be to dark at certain weather conditions. We are aware of this and want to correct this with future updates!
Savegames and Progression
The update to Unreal Engine 5 forced us to rework savegame compatibility. This means with this update Settings and Progressions are reset. There is a way to recover your old progression but this might cause game crashes. Recovering Progress at your own risk:
- Open the folder C:\Users\DUsername\AppData\Local\UnitedAssault\Saved\SaveGames
- Create a subfolder called Normandy if it does not already exist
- Copy the file Normandy_Progression.sav into the new Normandy Subfolder

United Assault - Next
The next and final installment of the United Assault Trilogy is currently in development. We won't sahre any details on this project yet. We just want you to know a new Title is in development and will introduce new features which will again be patched intho Normandy '44 and Battle of the Bulge.
United Assault - Battle of the Bulge
We have collected a lot of feedback on Battle of the Bulge and decided we are going a different route then with Normandy '44! There will be no map expansion and rather a map enhancement. We will add more details, locations and improvements into the existing map. Besides this Battle of the Bluge will recieve Feature and Weapon updates from United Assault - Next. The Playstation 4, Xbox One and Xbox Series versions are in certification and will release this year!
United Assault - Normandy '44
Normandy '44 will continue to recieve bug fix updates and after the launch of United Assault - Next, it will get some new weapon unlocks.
Unreal Engine 5
We have spent a lot of time in the past weeks to check the possibilities of a Unreal Engine 5 update. The game is partly working on the new engine but we decided to cancel this effort. The switch to UE5 would mean larger reworks which would end the compatibility to already released Console versions. Meaning there would never be any update to those versions ever again. This is a minor update targeting performance issues on lower end systems. United Assault - Normandy '44 now tracks the performance on your system and if it will ever run below 25 FPS it will track down the source and tries to free up some resources on runtime. If the framedrop happens to be CPU related, the game will temporarly disable several AI features (Hearing, Cover generator) until the game runs again at at least 30 FPS. If the performance drop is GPU related, impact particles, muzzle flashes and other minor visual features will be temporarly disabled until the game runs at at least 30 FPS again. This will not have any impact if you are running the game with higher framerates and is intended to improve the playability on low end systems. We also increased the max Rank to 40 and overhauled the vehicle physics.

United Assault - Normandy '44 has come a long way and it's far from over! We are planning to release several major updates across the year. And here is how it's going to happen.
Battle of the Bulge
As announced last year, we'll developing a standalone expansion called Battle of the Bulge. https://store.steampowered.com/app/1625340/United_Assault__Battle_of_the_Bulge/ This is with the port of Normandy '44 to Playstation 4 and 5 is currently the highest priority. This means updates for Normandy '44 will slow down for a while. and will katch up again once we start adding in some of the new features and improvements from Battle of the Bulge.
Multiplayer
Yes, United Assault is getting a full multiplayer part, if you want to have it! For now, this will be for PC only and might come to consoles at a later point. The Multiplayer will be a standalone game which will be unlocked for free to owners of the base United Assault games (Normandy '44 or Battle of the Bulge) or will be made available as a seperate purchase. This will ensure that the players are not split between several games and can play together as one big community. This is the business model: United Assault Multiplayer is a Buy-to-Play game without lootboxes or an ingame store. The Multiplayer in base contains the weapons and Maps of Normandy '44. By owning Battle of the Bulge, you will get the Battle of the Bulge map and weepons unlocked for free in the Multiplayer, if you don't own Battle of the Bulge, you can buy the gameworld and weapons as a DLC.
Co-op
the main focus of United Assault Multiplayer will be Co-op gameplay. The coop will use the full gameworld of Normandy '44 as a base with predefined Co-op Missions and randomly generated missions to choose. The Battle of the Bulge map will be made available at a later date for owners of Battle of the Bulge or the DLC owners.
PvP
We will also add a small PvP mode into the game which right now is Team Deathmatch only but more modes can be added during development. This mode will use parts of the gameworlds as PvP maps and is entirly unlocked. This means in PvP you don't need to buy anything additionally to get new maps and weapons.
Release
When it's done! We are targeting summer 2022 to unlock it to owners of Normandy '44 and Battle of the Bulge as a form of pre access. A real Early Access release might come in fall 2022, depending on feedback.

As a british paratromy you are assigned to a mission, few would qualify for. You are tasked to infiltrate enemy territory and locate, infiltrate and destroy one of germany's secret V2 factories in the Ardennes. You'll come along heavy enemy resistance, try to weaken their defense by destroying their tanks, equipment and by gathering secret documents.

The Next Game Survey
I asked on Social Media, Steam and other platforms what you want to see in the future. Here is the evaluation of this survey with 983 participants at the time of evaluation.

FPS games are by far (35%) the most requested games, as we develop mostly FPS games this is no big surprise. Followed by this are Simulation (14%) and Role Playing (13%) and Third Person Shooter and Action Adventire (12%). Beyond Enemy Lines - The Role Playing experience? How would this sound to you? We will continue to focus on FPS games but will definitly consider developing smaller games in the other genres in the future. We also asked which game you would like to see next. 35% of you want to see a new franchise, 28% a new Beyond Enemy Lines and as United Assault is still a very fresh game it already gathered a respectful 23%. As both Beyond Enemy Lines and United Assault got new content and games revealed in this news, let's jump to the new franchise ... The new franchise We asked for suggestions which game you would like to see. And apparently you have a very clear goal in mind for us. You want to see from us in the future: A Singleplayer FPS with focus on Story, more linear gameplay with occasionally larger areas with more freedom. The games you mentioned where shocklingly simmilar.
You frequently Menitioned Golden Eye and other 007 games as well as No One Lives Forever. We will follow your wishes and start concepting a new James Bond/No One Lives Forever like franchise together with you in 2022. More on this will follow next year!

We are very proud to release our next project and are even more proud of the way this early access went and what an awesome and passionate community grew out of this!

Attention: We are aware of the issue that weapons clip trough the gameworld. Due to a critical issue we needed to pull this change from the release. This issue will be adressed and fixed with the next update for PC and Xbox users.

This release does not mark the end of development. We have several new weapons, features and content updates planned for the near and long future. United Assault - Normandy '44 is leaving early access on 27th October and is releasing on XboxOne and xboxseriesx! The #nintendoswitch version is releasing later this year, #playstation is following in early 2022!
The price on Steam will increase on release from $9.99 to $14.99 and will match the pricing on consoles.

a new peview build for the upcoming final release 1.0.0 is now available!
This this is the first of several preview builds before the game is releasing. The focus on this preview build is the AI and it's timings. This is what changed:

We worked hard on new Materials and Textures to enhance the visuals of the environment. The Screenshot above showcases more detailed, heigher quality textures and a more complex material setup on the buildings and the roads.

Update Notes
We are coming closer to the full release and so is United Assault coming closer to it's release form. This time we added the long awaited new character models for the Wehrmacht. We also fixed several minor issues and improved loading times on lower end hardware. We are now preparing the full launch and work hard on the final polish of the game. We are announcing the post launch roadmap near the launch of version 1.0.0! There is a ton of content waiting to be added!

Soldiers, a new peview build for the upcoming update 0.9.0 is now available! This preview is soly focused on optimization and loading times. It does contain several smaller bug fixes and improvements but this is currently not the focus. We know that loading times can sometimes be long in this game, even on older and slower hard drives. We took the time to modify the engine and implemented a new compression algorithm, which is as efficient as the old one, but a lot faster at decompressing data. We also modified the asynchronous level loading and asset organization. This in total can improve loading times significantly and under the right condition can cut the loading times in half. on the road to Update 0.8.0 we have reached another checkpoint! The new preview update is adding the for now final weapon* Bazooka!
The Bazooka can be unlocked at Rank 18 and can also be found in the final story mission.
You can carry up to 6 rockets for the Bazooka, 1 loaded and 5 in reserve. The rocket has a strongly curved trajectory and it needs 2 direct hit's to take out a mission objective from the distance and 3 direct hits to take out a Tank AI.
Due to it's strongly curved trajectory you can use the Bazooka also like a Mortar and kill targets far beyond your sightline across the entire map.
Please note that the weapon is not entirle animated right now, some animations are missing right now but will be added soon!
Native Linux Support
United Assault - Normandy '44 now has native Linux support in an early test phase! We do not fully and officially support Linux right now, but we plan to do so after the release of v1.0.0. This version is intended as a sneak peak and a tech test to gather feedback and informations. We currently just don't have the time and manpower to do a full QA run on it, however in our internal tests the linux build ran stable and without a crash. The Linux version equals the currenlty new released v0.7.6 preview build and can be accessed trough the preview build. Please report back how the game is running, does it crash or does other features not work?

we are on the road to Update 0.8.0 but we are not quite there yet. We want to provide you the option to sneak peak into the current development and take a look at the current in development version 0.7.5.
With this update grenades are available to use in all modes and Tank Combat has been added to the last Story Mission.
AI Tanks now no longer just drive around, they can and will attack you! Alongside this, the ingame UI got updates and the AI got several fixes. Before we release this version as update 0.8.0 (with some additional content) we want to hear your thought. How is the Tank Combat? Are grenades usefull?

You are a US army paratrooper dropped into enemy territory to prepare the D-Day. Your mission objectives vary form destroying Panzer IV tanks, Flak 88 cannons to obtaining secret documents or even liberate an entire town. After completing your objectives, exfiltrate and claim your rewards.
