Mac Version Just Around the Corner!

Hi everybody!

We released a build of Rift's Cave for Linux a while time ago and now we're happy to announce a Mac version is also coming!

We have almost finished testing and finalizing optimization.

It's great to be one of the few publishers with Oculus Rift games that support all three different operating systems!

We are also working on the next version (2.8) that will be available very soon! Our first goal is to solve all the current knows bugs and in the same time start to re-create some character dialogue and voice acting since a lot of people have said that some recordings weren't so good.

I hope that our new voice recordings will be better for you all!

Thanks!

Rift's Cave Updated (13/03/15)

Rift's Cave has now been updated to RC_Alpha v2.7

Bug Fixes:

- Improved camera position
- Changed and polished some animations
- Fixed some pop-up issues, in which the winter map in particular should be completely fixed from them now
- Fixed a bug that allowed you to go into the Winter map before you've explored the Desert map
- Fixed a bug that restart the Cave's intro after you come back from the desert.
- The key inside the master's home is now a bit more visible

New Features:

- Added a text to remember to recenter the Oculus Rift orientation at the beginning of each map

Developer Notes:

We're currently working really hard to optimize everything for Rift's Cave! We've got reason to believe that some problems are being caused such as CPU bottlenecking but don't worry, we will be fixing this as soon as possible.

We don't want to spoil everything yet! But something that we can say that we're working on is we are trying to currently implement the latest 3D Audio SDK from Oculus VR, so be sure to see it in the coming updates!

Rift's Cave Future Updates

Hi everybody, Andrea Marinelli here!

I've personally read and learned about issues reported in some of the most recent bad reviews we've collected on Steam and we're definitely taking those in consideration to improve the game in the next updates.

This is what we're working and try to fix right now:

  • 1. We're working hard to make the occlusion and pop-up environments much better in the next release.

  • 2. We are going to make more polished animations and center the camera even better with the 3D avatar. Also we'll probably add a re-center warning message at the start of each level to remind the user to re-center the position of the camera pressing F12, and soon after that we'll make it automatically center the view.

  • 3. We'll try to re-make some records to have more high-quality dialogues.

  • 4. We'll try to improve the movement and look into any possible way to reduce the motion-sickness.

  • 5. We're going to add the latest levels of the game with the finale of the plot. This should make a more fluent atmosphere in the story of the game and give you more areas to find some cool secrets within!

This is just a part of what we're doing and what we're trying to fix/adjust.

We've also planned to add some small hidden chambers within every map that will allow you to explore some other cool little worlds, but for now I won't reveal anything else!

Hope that makes excited who are enjoying Rift's Cave but also who haven't enjoyied it yet, and that some of the updates we're going to makes we'll bring some more people on the Rift's Cave world!

Thanks for your continuous support, don't stop to trust in us, we're putting a lot of effort in the game everyday!

Message regarding Monitor Support

Hello everybody,

Here at Frost Earth Studio, we have noticed that some of you who have purchased our product through the IndieGala bundle are unhappy that our game does not support monitors.

I do have to personally apologize as it is on my part when I did not make the message clear that this game does not currently support monitors.

The reason why we do not have monitor support at the current time is because this games environments and gameplay is designed for the Oculus Rift, and it is also currently early in development. Adding a monitor version would ruin the immersion of the game and make it seem rather dull. We would really hate for our users to experience that first-time purchasing.

I again apologize for not making it absolutely clear that Rift's Cave does not support monitors. I have updated the Store page showing that the game is only playable by the Oculus Rift DK2.

I would please have to ask you to refrain from giving negative reviews if you have not yet played our product.

We will be working hard to fixing bugs and making the game more enjoyable so that we can add monitor support in the future.

And again, my sincerest apolgies, thank you for reading.

Rift's Cave Updated (10/01/2015)

Rift's Cave has now been updated to RC_Alpha v2.5

Bug Fixes:

-Fixed the fire bug of all the fal in the Winter map
-Fixed a bug that doesn't make a wall disappear inside the dungeoun using the Ghost vision in the Winter map
-Fixed the inventory bug in the latest map.
-Fixed/added missing colliders in the latest map (especially in the boss room)
-Added some missing interactions with the gamepad that weren't be correctly mapped
-Fixed the audio bug after the defeat of the first boss
-Added a fade-out to the Main menu
-Fixed the B button on the gamepad to cancel and remove the "Come back to main menu" text. It's now possible to cancel the action with the B button or Backspace on the Keyboard.

Notes:

You are now able to visit every place directly using the initial portals, you don't have to worry about too much about removing the saves (you'll lose just the checkpoints..but not the portals!).

We strongly reccomend you make a "new game" from the main menu and reset all the saves, this should fix every issue with some checkpoints.

Please try to Reset the Oculus Rift Orientation by pressing F12 between each map. It should avoid animations interpolations or make the scale a bit better.

News on the next update:
The next update will be focussed on adding some new features of Rift's Cave other than fixing bugs. So stay tuned! We can't wait to share it with you!

If you wish to report a bug, please visit here.

Happy New Year from Frost Earth Studio and what's coming in 2015

Happy New Year from the team behind Rift's Cave and Frost Earth Studio!

We've spent an epic 2014 developing Rift's Cave while experiencing the magic of Virtual Reality with the Oculus Rift.

We're happy we have made a little community and we want to say a big thank you to all the Rift's Cave supporters.

There are people that like it and people that don't like it, but we still thank all of you for the support! This includes the negative feedback that is honest, and helps us create an awesome and better game for everybody.

What you should expect from the 2015?

  • Secret chambers to find hidden within the maps of Rift's Cave

  • A new map available to play (this map includes the dragon that is visible in every cover of Rift's Cave!)

  • An ending to Rift's Cave

  • We're going to adjust A LOT the plot itself adding some cut scenes to better implement the story of Rift's Cave!

  • Graphical adjustments to the scenery and details of the game. Expect to see better landscapes and detail within the cave!

  • A bunch of bug fixes will be ready within the first weeks/months of 2015

You'll be able to play all the available maps without many issues at all! We've solved a lot of bugs on the first 4 levels, and have been working hard on fixing the levels beyond that, so don't worry, we will be implementing these to our Steam build soon!

Hoping that this news will be exciting enough, and we would like to say again
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
