Small update ea-1.1.0.4 + plans for ea-2

  • Fixed Escape button not working when trying to close different windows in the Main Menu
  • You can now use the Escape key to close the Settings and Profile windows in game
  • Fixed closing the main window along with secondary popups or windows when using the Escape key
Hello everybody! Finally fixed some issues with the Escape button after the ea-1.1 update :D Currently I am still working on an upcoming global update, ea-2. I may not be as productive as I used to be because of university, but I still try to develop in my spare time. I have some good news, so let's talk about the next update again.

What is ea-2 all about?

This upcoming update fixes one of the main problems - UI navigation. I am redesigning all menus from scratch to allow players to use only their keyboard or controller to navigate the UI, making it possible to play and use different menus without a mouse. This update also introduces "Online Features" that allow me to dynamically change some small content in the game without having to upload an update to Steam (including different links, tester IDs, etc.). I also added a new "Announcements" section to the main menu. The good thing is that all of this is completely optional and you won't miss out on any game features if you don't have an internet connection. In this update, I also reworked some core game mechanics and key scripts to make the gameplay smoother and more enjoyable.

When will it be available?

It's hard for me to say. But I hope to release the very first preview before 2025. This update will be uploaded to a separate branch, and I will push updates (new previews) to that branch from time to time. I will also post change notes like this for each new preview.

When will it replace the old version on the main branch?

It will take a lot of time to finally replace the old ea-1. There are a lot of things I want to fix and rework after reading some of your feedback. During this development process, you will always be able to switch between the two branches without any conflicts between the two versions of the game.

Which version should I "main" when ea-2 comes out?

The ea-1. Because in the first preview ea-2 will be missing EVERYTHING: the stages and all levels and game modes, the level editor, the profile and so on... It will just be there for you to test if the new stuff and navigation works with your hardware. However, ea2 will slowly recover all the lost features.

Isn't it better to reveal all this stuff when the first preview is released, why now?

I just want to be transparent with the players and let you know what I am "cooking" and what to expect :D I will make another post like this when the ea-2 is finally released and it will probably be even more in depth. Anyway, thanks for reading the announcement! Your feedback and support is always appreciated, so feel free to suggest new ideas in the Community Hub :D Have a nice day!

Small update ea-1.1.0.3 + Sneak Peek

  • Fixed some missing Russian translations in the Play window
  • Updated some packages and Input System

I am still working hard on the next major update. This time I brought a little sneak peek :D You can see the main menu with the new UI and button design. You can now navigate using only your controller or keyboard, no mouse required. You might also notice a new announcements section: the game can now connect to my server and get information from it, allowing me to implement dynamic content like announcements or events, and possibly even more!

Small update ea-1.1.0.2

Hey everybody! This is just a very small update that replaces some links in the main menu and in the credits window. I've been working on the next major update, ea-2, for the past few months, trying to implement some of the suggestions I've received. Hopefully it will improve the UI and make navigation a hundred times better, especially with the controllers, as well as fix some of the major progression issues. All in all, I think it's going to be a big one :D But I still have a lot of work to do before I can even publish a highlight. Stay tuned and thanks everyone for your support, sales are going incredibly well!

Regular update ea-1.1.0.0

Hello everyone! Back in November 2023 I promised to address some of the Input System and controller issues in the game. So, this update should (sort of) fix most of the bugs.

New Input System

The new version of the game now uses the new Unity Input system alongside the old one. It handles all player inputs in the game and is now responsible for splitting controls between two players in co-op. This means that the game should now support more controllers (although I can't really guarantee this since I only have the Xbox controller that I use to test everything). Also, the co-op experience should now be smoother now, since I couldn't reproduce old bugs that caused controllers or some keyboard keys to break sometimes.

Localization redone from scratch

I have removed all old localization assets in this version. Instead, the game now uses the official Unity localization package. You probably won't notice any changes, but there might be some places, texts and dialogs that I accidentally missed, especially in languages other than English! If you notice any localization issues, be sure to report them.

Afterword

A lot of core mechanics have been reworked in this update, so there may be some issues. If you find a bug, be sure to report it! The new version also uses an updated version of Unity, so as always, if for some reason you are not satisfied with an update, you can go back to ea-1.0 in the Betas on Steam. Thank you for supporting the development and have fun! :D

Update notes for ea-1.0.0.11

  • Remove "phantom" platforms in some levels: grey platforms that were a simple decoration, but a confusing one
  • Add "Shared Inventory" panel to level 1-3 (Main Levels). It appears when the player picks a Stick and tells them that both Blue and Pink can use it, not just Pink, as someone might have thought.
  • Update Camera Zoom values for some levels
  • Let player use Stick in custom levels even if it's not unlocked yet
  • Updated Unity version

Update Notes for ea-1.0.0.7

  • Fix "Thus The Adventure Begins" achievement not being given right after completing the level
  • Add Discord Rich Presence support for Snakether and Flappy Square game modes
  • Add "Select an item to see the information" placeholder page for Shop
  • Update some sprites in the UI

Update Notes for ea-1.0.0.3

  • Death sounds for Flappy Square and Snakether game modes
  • Proper music in level l4-8
  • Show the panel with inputs in Flappy Square

The game releases today in Early Access!

Hello everyone! I have some great news for you. Come Together will be available to everyone in Early Access in just a few hours. It has been a really long adventure: lots of devlogs, announcements, events, and a Demo version. But, finally, after all of this, the game will be playable! [previewyoutube=P7qwNFLKAiw;full][/previewyoutube]

Early Access State

The game is playable. There are bugs, but they are slowly being fixed. Lots of plans for the next updates, tons of things I want to redo. So stay tuned and report any issues to help with development :D As for content, there are 3 game modes available in Early Access: Main Levels, Flappy Square and Snakether. All the classic levels are completed, you can actually beat the game. The only problem is that there is not much content in them at the moment. But new collectibles, things to buy, secrets, and side quests will be added!

Level Editor

I am actively working on it. But you can already publish your own levels and play what other people have created! I am open to all your ideas and quality of life improvements. Some features are still missing, but they don't make the editor unusable. For example, you can't control the music in custom levels yet.

Co-Op

A lot of influencers and testers have been trying to play co-op. My tests show that it's pretty stable. But sometimes some buttons just refuse to work, especially on non-Xbox controllers. Don't worry about that. Reworking the input system is on my checklist :)

Conclusion

It's safe to say that the game is playable and can actually be enjoyed. If you don't mind instabilities or missing features and items here and there, then I guess nothing is stopping you from being a part of the development process :D Our adventure doesn't end here: new game modes with different stages and stories are on the way, tons of other small features are being worked on. I am sure that together we will make a perfect final version! Thanks to everyone who continues to follow the development and provide feedback. Every contribution is greatly appreciated! Have fun with the game!

The game releases in Early Access this year!

Hello everyone! I am happy to announce that I've finally made a decision to release the game in Early Access, so that players will be able to try the early versions out, and not wait for the final release.
Hopefully, this will help me to speed up the development a little bit, thanks to all the invaluable feedback that players may provide. After all, it's much easier to change something before releasing the final product.

Release Date and Information

You can now read all the Early Access information on the Store Page. I am planning to release the Early Access version later this year (maybe in November). The final date is a subject to change, of course. Why? There is still a lot of work to be done before I can make a full release. I just want to get the early versions out there for people to try and then let me know what they think of the game so far. It is a great way to improve the final product.
State of the game? Of course, the game is far from being finished at this point. For example, most game modes and features are still missing, there are bugs and problems, some levels are just empty. But there is already plenty of stuff to test and try out. That said, players can already make and publish their own levels using the Level Editor.
Price? It's obvious that the Early Access version will be cheaper compared to the final product to compensate for all the missing features and bugs. The price may increase as new things are added.

In conclusion

Hopefully, the Early Access version will not only help with the development and improvement of the final product, but also allow players to get to know the game better, even though it's unfinished. Everyone will be able to share their thoughts in our Discord Server or on Steam Forums. I hope to release a video closer to the release date that will explain everything better and show the current state of the game, so stay tuned! Thank you for your time, and have a great day!

Isn't that a 6th DevLog I see?..

Good day, Come Together testers and players waiting for the game release! Guess it's a good time to post a new devlog, so you will be able to see what's been happening to the game so far. [previewyoutube=7w96-TdsGow;full][/previewyoutube] Some spotlights from the video:

  • New Game Mechanics: Locked Gates & Keys, Platforms, and 2 types of Pressure Plate
  • Stage 2 almost finished, started working on Stage 3, including special levels
  • New Background Environment (I love parallax)
  • Big UI updates: new Profile window [strike](Demo crying in the corner... But for real, UI there should be updated)[/strike] and Avatar switching
  • Full and Customizable [strike](unlike Demo)[/strike] Discord Rich Presence integration
  • And other smaller changes...
These devlogs are a great way to inform audience about current state of development, they help game testers to understand what was changed and what may need their attention. But, most importantly, you will be able to see what the game is about much better. Thank you and have a good day!

DevLog 5 is here to save your day!

Good day, Come Together testers and players waiting for the game release! It's been a while since we last talked about the game in a form of a DevLog. So I guess it's time to save the day with the new one :D This time around, there are just tons of new updates and things for both Full and Demo versions of the game. But, as always, I tried keeping it as consice as possible. [previewyoutube=9bdTFD7ZeDA;full][/previewyoutube] Can't really approach the spotlights question (since the entire game was remade), but here are some anyway:

  • Full Version of the game (including game mechanics, basic player scripts, levels, game modes, UI, you name it) was entirely remade from scratch
  • Some new mechanics were added into the Full Game (and more coming soon)
  • There is a BIG Demo version coming, but it's gonna take some time to finish
These devlogs are a great way to inform audience about current state of development, they help game testers to understand what has changed and what may need their attention. But, most importantly, you will be able to see what the game is about much better. Thank you and have a good day!

Come Together is a puzzle game. Your main goal is to connect two squares together while thinking about most optimal solution for the level. Come Together manages to squeeze maximum from this simple, at first sight, mechanic. The game provides a very smooth and enjoyable playstyle.

In terms of Gameplay and Player Movement, Come Together is very easy(unless you are standing on a deadly tile, of course): all you need to know is the main rule - your player changes every time you make a move. Based on that, you need to come up with optimal solutions for different levels and game modes.

Apart from the official levels, Come Together has lots of other gamemodes. Before you can access them, you should unlock them, of course: reach some goals, complete specific level, find somewhere or just buy. But thats not all: there are secret gamemodes in the game as well. They can be unlocked by beating hidden levels or challenges.

Apart from all of that, Come Together has lots of other features, of course. Here are some main examples:
* Secret Levels: hidden all across the game, hidden levels are here to show you the craziest mechanics that pushing the game to it's limits.
* Shop: here you can buy different customizations for your players, cursor, Main Menu and much more.
* Statistics: achivements, counters and your full game reports are included!
* Inventory: find, collect, inspect different stuff and it will appear here. Just like in bestiaries.

What about Multiplayer?

Yes, I will try my best implementing multiplayer into the game before the release, despite the fact that multiplayer is the hardest part.

What about release date?

Sorry, I can't tell the exact date of the release. I am making the game alone and I don't know what can happen in future. I want to implement everything I planned. I, and probably you, want quality end product. Thank you!
