Astralojia: Season 1 is being removed from the Steam store...

Due to lack of performance within Steam, Astralojia: Season 1 will be taken off of the Steam store to focus on other stores on other various platforms. To those who purchased the game, thanks so much for your support, and your copy if you've installed the game will still play. I hope I can build and grow the series into the future, and maybe return with a more substantial release. Thanks so much for the support!

More and more and more stuff...

Well, going to be posting more here and trying to stay more consistent with that now. There are many many updates to the game. Since the year that it's been out I've learned quite a lot and continue to try to learn and will try to grow this series.

  • Font is updated
  • The game now will run at lightning speed compared to how it did before, it's been optimized for porting to multiple systems now.

Youtube Longplay Premiere Today and Many Huge Updates

First Youtube Premiere of Longplay Walkthrough

Full voice acting so you can watch it like a movie, come join us if you want:

[previewyoutube=v9Css59y_zQ;full][/previewyoutube]

Based on a lot of feedback I've received, I've re-worked and fixed it up Season 1

Faster ATB and Battles

Battles were noted to be slow, this is because they were designed and modelled after Final Fantasy 7's speed. I sped everything up drastically, the pauses in between moves are gone, it just moves much quicker than it used to.

Snappier and Improved Dialogue

This was a HUGE update in where every time a character spoke, there'd be a small pause. It was really holding the whole thing back. I figured out finally how to fix it, and now characters speak fluidly.

Watch Cutscenes Like A Movie

Without the pause before characters spoke, I was now free to create a 'Auto-Scroll' mode, and now the whole thing plays out like a film if you activate it. It's 'G' on the keyboard.

3 New Mini-Games

To add more gameplay to some Episodes that were lacking in it, 3 mini-games have been incorporated, even a first person adventure styled one.

Smooth Mouse Camera Movement

Finally I've figured out how to get the mouse to move the camera smoothly. Before it had a sort of jaggedy feeling, this is now fixed and it feels nice and smooth to look around on PC.

Camera-Lock Mode

There's now a 'Camera-Lock' mode if you prefer not to be moving the camera around in a scene. It attempts to lock onto the character that's currently speaking within the scene.

Optional Voice Acting

Some people either don't prefer voice acting or would rather silence it, you can do so now with the 'B' button or 'Right Click'.

Lower Price

With all of the fixes and improvements, the gameplay dropped from 5 1/2 hours to 4 1/2 hours long! So, as there is a Season 2 in the works right now, I'm dropping the price to $13.99 on all platforms.

Hardcore Mode

You can also just watch the longplay for free if you prefer, and if you like it and want to try the full game with gameplay, you get a 'hardcore' mode in the full version of the game.

I will keep trying my best...

I want to be as honest as I can here... As a single developer working on, at the moment, all aspects of the series, I really am doing the absolute best I can with the limited resources that I have available to me. It's very VERY difficult being alone and working alone, but it can be enjoyable, even at the times when I've set deadlines for myself and things are stressful. It's been my dream since I was very young to create my own anime/cartoon series, to write my own tv show and be a showrunner. I've been practicing as much as I can at this for as long as I could remember...and thanks to the technologies and tools available today, from Unity to Respeecher, I've finally been able to start to achieve this I'm hoping... Futher Improvements... Firstly, I'm doing the best I can to improve Season 1. One of the things I'm trying is to further balance out the gameplay to the story. This isn't easy. I'm considering adding some more mini-games throughout. I added 2 mini-games to the recent update in Episode 5 and Episode 6 as I felt they didn't have enough gameplay to story. Episode 5 and 6 were literally one long cutscene with a single battle at the end. This is to a degree the intention of the series, as the battles get more difficult and become multi-part and have more strategy, but there was something about these two episodes, whether it was just that the ending battles were relatively short in length, that didn't feel quite complete to me. Other than that, there are parts that could use some work here and there. Mainly, there are a handful of voice acting lines that could use being redone. Visually, it could use every now and again some butterflies flying around or even birds in the background. The lighting could be improved in some scenes, etc... In particular, Episode 1 I believe is the weakest one of the series, while I like how Episode 7 came out the most, as Episode 7 conveys what the series is about. In fact, if there was a single episode out of the 7 that I would choose for a pilot, it would be Episode 7, as it shows what the series is really about in a broader sense. I'm looking forward to getting a handful of second opinions on this moving forward, but the general idea is that it's important that one is honest with oneself and understands their weakest link. Episode 1 is, after all, the first episode that players/viewers will see, and it wouldn't hurt to target this episode for vast improvement... The Future... With that said, there is something I do want people to understand at this time.... I want people to understand that first, before I make any further improvements to Season 1, unless it's a game breaking bug, I'm going to finish Season 2. Everything about Season 2 improves upon the series as a whole. More characters are introduced, more drama starts to unfold, more mysteries are unveiled, and there are even more multi-part battles, as well as the battles generally being more difficult, and I want to even add more skill bars if I have the time. In particular there's a climactic part in Episode 12 that I really want people to see as well. Season 1 is like an introductory to the series, while in Season 2 more of a main arc starts to unfold, and I want to get the 2nd OP and ED of the series and the whole Season 2 OST out there as well. Voice Acting and Music for Season 2 as of right now is nearly finished... With Season 2 out there, I sincerely feel that people will start to understand what my intention is with this series, as it hits on key dramatic parts, while maintaining a relaxed pace throughout other episodes, staying fun and light-hearted but sticking to the idea of creating a series that is balanced out with dramatic, emotional and even darker parts as well, and as far as battles go, having new mechanics introduced that keep each battle fresh and new feeling. What It Is And What It Isn't... A key important thing to me now, is that I don't want people to have expectations that this is something other than it is. This is important...It's a narrative game series that plays out like a tv show, I would put it more in the category of a visual novel but with ATB battles if I were to choose a game genre that it most closely would fit on a shelf with... It isn't a game in where you'll run and jump around, it's not an open-world, it doesn't have multiple endings and won't have multiple endings, it doesn't have crafting, item collection, even leveling up, and if people go into it expecting a fast paced action game, I know they'll be disappointed to find something they didn't expect. What it is, in essence, is a shounen anime series with turn-based skill-driven boss battles. Each battle is trailored with a separate strategy from the next battle, and each battle gets more difficult as the series carries on. In Conclusion... I'll do my best to add extra features in the future like a hardcore difficulty level for example, and put more mini-games in, as I know that people do want a longer gameplay time. I may not be the best of all time or anything, but I will always do my best to improve and make it a good series, as good a story as I can, with as good of music as I can, and improve the game or TV Show or whatever this thing is supposed to be as much as possible. Thanks for playing/watching, and I hope you might stick around and enjoy what's coming into the future.

Game Breaking Bug Fixed In Episode 3

A few bugs, transparency issues, lighting issues in battle fixed, and a game breaking bug in where the boss from Episode 3 is too powerful to beat has been fixed. It's still a tough battle now in Episode 3, just not game breaking. Not much else to report, Re-release is soon.

Re-Release Delayed Until Mid-November or December 1st

I've been crunching as many hours as I can to get the re-release of Season 1 ready. Planning to release it in multiple stores and start to target multiple platforms as well as focus on outreach for a while. A new trailer and new screenshots will be necessary, this will take another week after the game is finished. The game is GREATLY improved using full voice acting now:

  • Full voice acting everywhere.
  • Text boxes turned into subtitles.
  • Vastly improved pacing, characters don't stand around and pause everywhere, nice quick snappier pacing.
Well, it's just gonna be another month, not much I can do about it, but hey, it's only another month! Thanks for staying tuned!

Re-Release With Full Voice Acting In About Mid-October

90% of the voice acting is cut, processed and ready to go, totaling about 1900 lines across the 7 episodes. There are about 90 or so scenes total, I'm going to try to implement voice acting in 7 a day, so I should be able to realistically re-release the full game as well as a free demo by October 15th. After release, I'm going to look at starting to get the game out to the world, entering into game events, expos, trying to network more and increase it's visibility in various ways. My goal is by November 1st to publish the Steam pages for season 2 and season 3 and create a daily game plan for their release by next year. Then, for the year 2024 release seasons 4, 5, 6 and finish the series, while it's in development expanding as I go, fulfilling once and for all my childhood dream of creating my own series. Thanks so much for playing, hope you have a nice day.

Full Voice Acting Coming Along...

Getting work in every day, will have Episode 1 fully voice acting by next week, and I'm hoping I can speed up the process and have Episodes 2-7 fully voice acted in 3 weeks time. Not much more to update, thanks for playing!

Re-Release Coming Hopefully October

Big game update coming hopefully in early October. Full voice acting is the main update, something that I feel, since it's possible, is very very needed. This is being accomplished using Respeecher. With full voice acting, I want (and need to be honest) to make the series snappier, quicker. To be honest, in a future far off update, the menus could also use a huge overhaul and be shiney and animated, but that's too much work for just me to do. The current roadmap looks like this: [olist]

  • Re-Release With Full Voice Acting, Also Japanese language option
  • New Promotional Material, Voice Acted Trailers, Scene Snippets, etc...
  • Reach out to press for a while
  • Create Season 2
  • Create Season 3 [/olist] One year is funded right now, so every second is money right now, I'm on the clock working on this full time, but with that said I'm still completely alone.

    Some Quick Updates

Some quick updates: Website is launched at astralojiastudios.com. I've linked all the social media to the website, and have a press kit up there. To me, though, updating social media is simply a formality at this point, it doesn't really get much attention and to me it doesn't have much to do with the selling the product. I'm trying to draw out a very very clear roadmap and game plan for the next year. Getting the product, or products 'featured' and getting it in curated stores like the Nintendo e-shop and Playstation store are the primary ways it's going to get out to the world I believe, possibly eventually working with a publisher if one was interested. This roadmap is still looking something like this: [olist]

  • Release Full Voice Acting Season 1, Japanese, Portuguese, and Chinese Versions.
  • Create Seasons 2 and 3, also Japanese, Portuguese and Chinese Versions.
  • Port to all other online stores and port to consoles. At this point do look for a publisher as well. [/olist] That's pretty much the gist of it for now. Things change all the time so I can't really create something more specific than that. There's much to improve right now, mainly implementing full voice acting. I'm going to finish the voice acting for September and try to release the new Season 1 with full voice acting in October. I'll be trying to e-mail out to publishers when this newer version and new round of promotional materials is released.

Big Price Drop, Plans for Full Voice Acting...

Firstly, thanks to the handful of people that purchased the game. Anyone who bought the game early, if you e-mail me your proof of purchase you will receive all of the rest of the Seasons for free as well as a half off refund for your initial purchase. I'm dropping Season 1's price to 12 USD. I've written now Seasons 2 and 3 in their final draft, so now I have 24 episodes written. Using Respeecher's voice changing technology, I'm going to be implementing full voice acting into the entire series. I want to release Seasons 2 and 3 by June 1st, 2023. I don't know if this will be possible or practical, but it is what I want. I do know that with a lot of effort and work it is, but I need to also not over-work and stay healthy enough, because my end goal is at least 8 seasons.

    • All of the voice acting for all three seasons will be completed next month in September, development of the seasons will start in October. I'm trying to treat it like I'm shooting a film series.
    • Japanese, Portuguese and Chinese translations are coming.
    • Scenes will be snappier, quicker with the full voice acting in there to make it more like a real cartoon series.
There is now a website in where you'll be able to follow the progress of the game as it's completed. You can visit it here: www.astralojiastudios.com Thanks for staying tuned, thanks for playing! Let's hope that the trials and tribulations of the meltdown of society as we know it doesn't prove to be impossible to cope with in the coming year!

    Current Plan for The Series

    Current Schedule (Subject to Change)

    • Now and August - Writing, Seasons 2, 3, 4 are being finished.
    • September - Voice Acting, Voice Act all content that's been written.
    • September 2022 to September 2023 - Finish Seasons 2, 3, 4 completely.
    Some Ideas (Subject to Change)
    • Have daily promotion plan, mainly e-mail publishers, press, streamers and content creators.
    • Full livestreaming of development and livestream events.
    • MAYBE a Discord server. (If it's kept mature and peaceful)
    • Website called 'The Astralojia Project' to show what it is and what my goals are more clearly.
    • Translation to Japanese, Chinese, and Portuguese in development.
My goal is to have the full series created, all 8 planned seasons by September 2024. I've been working on this since I was 17 years old and would like it finally released once and for all. After that, take the SDK and sell it for Unity, it helps to create different genres such as RPGs and Visual Novels using a scripting language I've created called 'AstraScript'. It can do everything RPG Maker can do and much more, so selling that on the Unity asset store might make for a good business model so that future series can be developed. Thanks as always for playing. - Astrah

    One Year Secured

The game series needs to be on Nintendo Switch, in Japan, in Japanese. This is what I think, knowing that the Japanese markets like story heavy brighter cuter games. So, one line of thought is this... Steam first, get a handful of seasons out. Package these seasons into a single game, then port to the Switch after translating to Japanese. The problem with the Switch in general, is that it's underpowered, the mobile ARM chips have a process of tile based optimization that makes cut-out shaders slower. On the surface, it may seem like the games have mobile graphics, yet you'd be surprised at all of the techniques you have to use to get a smooth frame-rate, and unfortunately the game requires a 60fps frame-rate, it doesn't do so well at 30fps. Well, in any case, I have one year funded, at least for now. I've signed onto a one year self made deal so to speak, the lease will be September 1st 2022 to August 30th 2022. In this time I'll have free reign to go nuts making the series, and finally bring my childhood dream of creating my own cartoon series into a reality. There will be improvements to Season 1, the main one has to be full voice acting...This will take a lot of work, but using Respeecher's AI voice changer I'm able to voice and mix down every single character. This journey will require a level of self-sacrifice. I'm putting my very life on the line to attempt to fulfill my childhood dreams, the very depths of my hearts desire with this project. At this moment, I have few distractions to stop me, I have a set path there, I have the resources and the willpower and the desire.

    Possible One Year Plan...

I finally have a place to work, and I'm mulling over creating a one year plan.

    • Consistent Daily Work and Possible Live Streaming
    • Episodes 8 through 26, or Seasons 2, 3, 4
    • Translate to Portuguese
    • Translate to Chinese
    • Translate to Japanese
    • General Improvement Based on Feedback From Players

I Sincerely Hope You Enjoy Astralojia...

I sincerely, from the bottom of my heart, hope you enjoy Astralojia: Season 1. I've put everything I've had into this over 6 years. It shouldn't have taken that long, but oh well I guess it did what can ya do. I've secured funding for 1 year of development, and want to finish Season 2, 3, 4 in a single year from 2022 to 2023. Will update with how it goes. Please stay safe out there and take it easy, this is one of the hardest, scariest and most confusing times to be alive in human history.

2nd stream on Steam Fest went better...

Steam Fest went much better, don't know if I was using the chat correctly, other than that it went good once I figured out how to actually work the thing. I've fixed a minor bug that cropped up when playing through episode 1 a second time. Updated the full game (coming July 22nd) and the demo. Ready for release, see you July 22nd!

Steam Fest Didn't Go Too Well...

Welp, first stream I couldn't figure out how to get it to work, but short after that I fixed it and will be streaming the demo for Sunday 2PM Eastern USA time. I've updated the trailer with the in-game opening for now, and realize I need to make a hollywood-like story trailer or an anime opening in the future. The video game has voice acting on key scenes now, I'll make sure to make use of that. Thanks for tuning in!

Final Build 99.99% Finished, Story Trailer Is Next...

Time to focus on getting the thing out there I guess, it's now 'fully finished', 99.99%. Sure, there'll be a flickering window in a scene or two, but I'm one guy and I'll do what I can to make those non-game breaking fixes in the future. The game now has key scenes voice acted, and this will allow me to create a story trailer. Next up, story trailer and more promotional stuff! Thanks for playing!

Astralojia Season 1 Demo (Episode 1) Morning Run by Creator

Hello there, this is my first Steam Fest. I'm gonna be playing the game for 4 hours, hope you enjoy. Astralojia: Season 1 is set to release July 22nd and includes 7 episodes. This is a playthrough of only the demo, the first episode.

Game Delayed from July 4th to July 22nd

I'd like to get the final trailer released, I'm working on mixing a few minor features into the final product, but mainly there are life issues involving family members that need to be worked out, so I'm delaying the release. My true goal is to get started on Season 2, 3, 4 with all of my ducks in a row and ready to go. Also, when Season 1 is released, it should have a proper story trailer that describes clearly what the game is about. I want to send the final product to curators, influencers and reviewers a full 30 days before the final release if possible as well.

    [ 2022-06-12 07:17:31 CET ] [ Original post ]

    Time To Finally Release This

The reason I never liked the word 'success', is that there are different ways you could look at it. On one hand, I've failed, and on the other there's great potential in future successes from that failure. My primary goal is to not just create a video game, but a video game production cycle, that is to be cranking out these games like hot cakes. That still is my dream, to have series after series coming out... In this goal, up until this point, I've failed. In finally finishing this current project's Season 1, I've succeeded. Regardless of what reviews it gets, how most people like it or not, I have created my own, in a way, cartoon series.
To say the cliche 'I've learned a lot from this experience' would be a vast understatement. Not just principles of game design itself, and all of the arts that come with that, but valuable life experiences. I'll elaborate more on it when I've got the time, but all I can say is that we live in a jungle, a mess of a world, and we're trying to bring something that's organized and neat, a structure, bring a vision from the mental plane into physical reality so to speak. My biggest tip right now would be, have your ducks in a row, but the world right now has more and more raging waters, so just getting those ducks set up....maybe it's a good time to pull them in for a while, I don't know the solution to be honest.

Demo Released, and First Two Steam Mini-Trailers

Demo Released June 1st, 2022 The demo as of today has been released and you can play it now for free. This includes the first episode. New Trailers I've created and released the first two mini-trailers for Steam. These are the battle trailer and the environment trailer. Next up would be the story trailer, but I'm going to get the voice acting in the rest of it before I do that. The story trailer may work as the primary trailer, while the battle trailer the secondary one. Use of AI for Development The singers for the opening song and the last boss song of the demo are sung by AI using Synthesizer V Studio Pro with a male and newly released female singer SOLARIA. The very ending credits song is sung by Rae Arista (none-AI singer). Voice Acting I've used Respeecher to change my voice and voice act all of the characters for the demo, and am mixing in the voices to the rest of the full game now. I've voiced over key scenes. Full Game Release The full game including all 7 episodes will be released on July 4th, 2022. I'd like to also release the soundtrack as well.
