LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, AT LONG LAST AND WITH GREAT FANFARE IT IS MY HONOUR TO PRESENT TO YOU TODAY:
Hello everyone! Stormy here. It has been a while. After a brief (6 year) hiatus, I have picked up development on DA again. I have just finished the first pass on all 31 of our achievements for DA and we now have a beta branch LIVE on steam where those achievements can be unlocked. I need people to get in there and test these achievements (as in, achieve them all, or find which ones are broken) before we can make them available on the public branch. There are no beta keys, no obstacles, no rules just switch your DA install to the achievements-test branch and have at it!
There are currently 4 servers running the beta branch and you'll need to connect to them manually as they don't show in the server browser. Here are the IP's:
AU server (Sydney): 45.121.211.102:10005
US server 1 (New York): 160.202.167.29:10005
US server 2 (Los Angeles): 160.202.167.29:10005
DE server (not sure just says "germany"): 203.23.178.4:10005
More info on switching to the beta branch and connecting to a dev server at the bottom of this post
Below is a list of all the achievements we need to test. Please report your findings as a reply to this thread and happy divepunching! It feels good to be BACK!
MORE INFO:
SWITCHING TO A BETA BRANCH
In your steam library, right click on DA and go to Properties, then Betas and then select the "achievements-test" beta branch. Steam will automatically update DA with like a 5mb download.
CONNECTING TO A DEV SERVER
In order to connect manually you need to enable your developer console from the game settings so boot up DA and go to Options > Keyboard > Advanced (button down the bottom) and "Enable developer console". Then press the ~ button on your keyboard to open the console.
In the console enter "connect " and then the IP you want to connect to so if you're connecting to the LA server: connect 160.202.167.29:10005
DA COMMUNITY DISCORD
Slikktic has set up a community discord and we are currently hanging out in there. We'll be posting stuff (like this announcement) in the discord FIRST so if you want to be a part of it, lurk the server!
https://discord.gg/ygCDTRTj45
That's it! Get in there you legends!
Quick info for everyone wondering why they're still not hearing weapon sounds: We changed the way the server sends sounds to the client. The client now ignores the old "piggy-backed" way of sending weapon sounds in order to prevent double sounds. Servers that aren't updated yet will not send sounds in the new way, yet, which results in not being able to hear sounds at all. So if it happens to you, find another server that is updated (see the list on the previous announcement).
1.3.2.1 offblast!
Hello everyone, this time, there's just one change, but this one has probably been annoying most of you a lot. The full changelog can, as always, be seen at: https://github.com/BSVino/DoubleAction/blob/develop/CHANGELOG.md
How's 2021? Does it smell nice? It smells of burnt gunpowder. Less so than the previous year, though.
Hello everyone, the world finally made it through 2020, so here's a treat to start out the new year! The full changelog can, as always, be seen at: https://github.com/BSVino/DoubleAction/blob/develop/CHANGELOG.md
Hello everyone, it's been a while since the last update, but here's a new one, finally! The full changelog can, as always, be seen at: https://github.com/BSVino/DoubleAction/blob/develop/CHANGELOG.md Highlights: - Steam rich presence - Now your friends can see when you're falling to your death! - Korean translation - Thanks to ! - Map-end votes should actually do something now - unless there's a server mod interfering with it :/ - All melee is now lag-compensated - previously only fistpunch melee was lag-compensated, and only if you left-clicked. - Fast Weapon Switch (hud_fastswitch) now works as intended - no more extra clicks! I've been holding off publishing this update for a while, since I didn't have contact data for many of the servers' admins and was looking for way to trigger auto-update mechanisms that people might or might not have. However, with the recent closure of a bunch of servers, that number is down to 1 server. All other server owners have been notified about this update and will probably update their servers to the new version very soon. On servers that haven't updated yet, there will be some issues with 3rd person crosshairs not pointing where they're shooting. As a workaround until they update, switch to 1st person mode using the X key. Servers updated so far: - Superfall Boogaloo! - SimRai Servers not updated: - RIVINS (notified) - WELSHE (notified) - Rudeflesh (notified) - HomeRcide (notified) - EMR (notified) - Facemask (no contact info)
What's this? A mini-map-emission for our most dedicated Boogalooers? Damn Straight.
Bring it in tight for the latest map from Doum - a prison-themed shoot-em-up in the vein of your favourite badass brawlers. With tight hallways to concentrate the boom boom and high ceilings to exacerbate the zoom zoom, this map is a welcome addition to the Double Action library. Test your mettle in the showers but don't drop the soap! You'll have some slow-mo floatin gun totin drop soapin action heroes vying for your weak spots. Keep your head on a swivel and don't spare the dribble because it's time for a good old fashioned rumble on the catwalk. DEAD MAN DIVIN!
Also included are translations submitted by our community's very own IZUMI WING - You would have seen that name taking top position on the scoreboards and now you can see it in CHINESE! Much thanks to our dedicated players for keeping the dream alive. We know it's been quiet on the western front but your dedication means the world to us. Keep it coming and don't stop diving!

This server-side patch fixes a rounding error in the vote tallying system, leading to votes failing unless there is no counter-vote. Windows and Linux Steam clients will also automatically update the local server component. This update is not necessary in order to effectively participate in votes. Sorry for taking so long to catch this :) PS: Again with apologies to people hosting hands-off servers on a Mac, we're only releasing this bug fix for Windows and Linux. Mac users can still join v1.2.2.2 servers with v1.2.2. Update: Looks like i briefly broke the server browser. Should be working now.

I love these rhyming version names.
That's correct! Double Action has received another slew of bugfixes and balances, changes and enhancements.
Punters will notice some additions to the scoreboard, as well as upgrades to spectator mode. Bots can now mantle and climb in some spots, and the hitmarkers for incoming fire will now dynamically scale with game resolution, making for a clearer impact on larger screens.
Our more experienced superfallers will notice that "WORTH IT!!" is now doled out less liberally, making for more intense and rewarding skybattles.
Additionally, gameplay has been tightened and bugs squashed, and the votekick system has received a tweakin. You can view the changelist here
As usual, if you're making maps be sure to show us what you've got! Now get in there and RRRRRRUMBLE!

Hello fellow Double-Actionists! Just a tiny update concerning mostly the non-Windows users.
Hello fellow Double-Actionists! Just a tiny update concerning mostly the non-Windows users.
That's right boogalooers it's bugfix time! TomyLobo has appeared out of the flames like Robert Patrick Jr in the final scenes of Terminator 2, delivering a chunky bunch of fixes to munch. Double Action has long been endeared with bugs ranging from the mundane to the insane, and this update smooths that ride leaving a clean guide for your styling-est slide. TomyLobo is the living embodiment of community-borne awesomeness. Two months ago he popped up on the boogaloo radar with some nonchalant bugfixes and sensible github ideas and has since gone on to single handedly rejuvenate Double Action: Boogaloo with his select lines of code. Double Action has always relied on the skills of the people that play it, and will continue to do so into the future! If you can code, map, model, texture, sing, dance or stand on your head and move a box with the force, we want to hear from YOU! Get in contact via the community submissions forum on the DA steam discussions board, or add Stormy on steam! As usual, server operatives will need to run the steam update on their various servers. The SimRai servers are up-to-date, as is the Through Human Eyes (T|H|E) server and Wizard of Distortions community server. In this update:

It's been a while buddy. Thirteen? fourteen months? Ah who's counting - it's good to see you back on the block. I got a little somethin for ya. Something you might like. Why don't you go on down the subway and check it out. Let me know what you think and we'll talk again soon. A tiny update

When polling began, Dive Harder was in a solid 20 point lead, but then in a surprising (and stylish!) reversal Doves of Fury pulled way ahead! Now Dive Harder is closing back in to again overtake Doves of Fury. Voting closes some time tomorrow (exactly what time? I dunno, whenever I feel like taking the poll down) so if you haven't already, get your vote in here: http://www.doubleactiongame.com/double-action-boogaloo-steam/ The Double Action team has been eating apples all week and the result is that the OSX version of DA is almost ready. Its bits and bytes are currently loaded into Steam and ready to be processed and downloaded by all of our beautiful players, we just have to do make sure none of the apples have any bugs before the hour of final disbursement (exactly what hour? I dunno, whenever we stop eating them apples.) In addition we're going to release the OSX version in tandem with the Steam Workshop, which will let anyone build and distribute modifications to the game, some of which may be incorporated back into the official version. All of this will happen perhaps some time this weekend (exactly what day? I dunno, whenever it's done.) EDIT: Sorry guys, looks like the workshop is going to take longer than we thought, it's coming soon, but not as soon. We'll push forward with the Mac support, but workshop will be in a later update.

A patch is now available for Double Action that mades the following changes. * In an effort to reduce the volume of grenades, grenades have been removed from the buy menu. * Teamplay mode has been removed until it can be better polished. * Added an indicator that helps highlight which weapon on the ground the player would pick up if E is pressed. * Some of Brawl's situational bonuses have been reduced. * Fixed a stuck bug related to sliding, and another stuck bug related to wall flipping. * Some updated sounds. Your Steam client should download the changes automatically. I appreciate any feedback from these changes so please leave your thoughts in our forums. We'll be continuing to apply fixes for balance issues and bug fixes to try to make the release process as smooth as possible.
Now that Double Action is out, we're starting to work on the next version now, but we can't decide on what the most stylish name for it should be. We've narrowed it down to our two favorites, you can help us decide by voting here.
