More shotty fixes

This should fix the swapped sounds and weird damages on the shotguns

[ 2022-01-08 02:32:23 CET ] [ Original post ]

Shottyfixes

Patch no0tes:

• Updated texture on stakeout
• Debuffed persuader so it's not a one-hit boomstick anymore (soz)
• Changed the MOTD to something that we can update regularly
• Added a phys model for the stakeout so when you drop it it doesn't just slide around the place like a banana
• Fixed animation sound timing even on stakeout draw animation so it goes "shk chk" when you actually pump the thing.

Double Action: Back on the Block

Hello everyone! Stormy here. It has been a while. After a brief (6 year) hiatus, I have picked up development on DA again. I have just finished the first pass on all 31 of our achievements for DA and we now have a beta branch LIVE on steam where those achievements can be unlocked. I need people to get in there and test these achievements (as in, achieve them all, or find which ones are broken) before we can make them available on the public branch. There are no beta keys, no obstacles, no rules just switch your DA install to the achievements-test branch and have at it! There are currently 4 servers running the beta branch and you'll need to connect to them manually as they don't show in the server browser. Here are the IP's: AU server (Sydney): 45.121.211.102:10005 US server 1 (New York): 160.202.167.29:10005 US server 2 (Los Angeles): 160.202.167.29:10005 DE server (not sure just says "germany"): 203.23.178.4:10005 More info on switching to the beta branch and connecting to a dev server at the bottom of this post Below is a list of all the achievements we need to test. Please report your findings as a reply to this thread and happy divepunching! It feels good to be BACK!
MORE INFO: SWITCHING TO A BETA BRANCH In your steam library, right click on DA and go to Properties, then Betas and then select the "achievements-test" beta branch. Steam will automatically update DA with like a 5mb download. CONNECTING TO A DEV SERVER In order to connect manually you need to enable your developer console from the game settings so boot up DA and go to Options > Keyboard > Advanced (button down the bottom) and "Enable developer console". Then press the ~ button on your keyboard to open the console. In the console enter "connect " and then the IP you want to connect to so if you're connecting to the LA server: connect 160.202.167.29:10005 DA COMMUNITY DISCORD Slikktic has set up a community discord and we are currently hanging out in there. We'll be posting stuff (like this announcement) in the discord FIRST so if you want to be a part of it, lurk the server! https://discord.gg/ygCDTRTj45 That's it! Get in there you legends!

If you're not hearing weapon sounds at all since the update...

Quick info for everyone wondering why they're still not hearing weapon sounds: We changed the way the server sends sounds to the client. The client now ignores the old "piggy-backed" way of sending weapon sounds in order to prevent double sounds. Servers that aren't updated yet will not send sounds in the new way, yet, which results in not being able to hear sounds at all. So if it happens to you, find another server that is updated (see the list on the previous announcement).

Double Action: Boogaloo v1.3.2.1
1.3.2.1 offblast!
Hello everyone, this time, there's just one change, but this one has probably been annoying most of you a lot. The full changelog can, as always, be seen at: https://github.com/BSVino/DoubleAction/blob/develop/CHANGELOG.md

Highlights

Weapon sounds will no longer fail to play

Weapon sounds should now play under all circumstances. Previously, in bandwidth-limited situations, with low rate settings or with low-end server hardware, weapon sounds didn't get transmitted to all clients. For the longest time, I couldn't reproduce this because I have high rate settings, a fairly good internet connection and I was playing on less than full servers. Thankfully, Dementei found some people who not only could reproduce the issue but also had the knowledge to address it. tl;dr: Weapon sounds work now \o/ (If you still don't hear weapon sounds, make sure you're playing on an updated server)

Thanks

• Valkyrie for the initial patch and for patiently debugging through this with me
• Joshua Ashton for helping with the initial patch
• Dementei and Stray Chet for, in one way or another, for making the connection

What now?

The official servers have been updated or will be updated once they have drained of players. All other server owners have been notified about this update and will probably update their servers to the new version very soon. The new and old versions are forwards- and backwards-compatible with one another, so you can still play on unupdated servers, but you will not hear *any* weapon sounds on unupdated servers. Client updates are optional (but will happen automatically through Steam anyway). Server owners will most likely need to update manually (but all players can still connect). You will be able to find both old and new servers with both the in-game and Steam server browser. Players can tell whether a server is updated by using the "da_version" command and verifying that the server and client have the same version (comparing the first 4 digits is enough in this case). Servers updated so far:
• SimRai (except Chicago)
• Superfall Boogaloo!
• dr.N0s
• [ju:nien]
• Knalltten
• OurDare
• RIVINS
• Rudeflesh
Servers not updated:
• EMR (notified)
• Jim's (no contact info)
• karn's (notified)
• Minced Meat Mans (no contact info)
• Tuijnenburg (notified)
• Xerneas (notified)
This time, due to the servers being compatible, I won't be able to easily verify which servers have updated, so I can't keep the list as up-to-date as the last time.

Double Action: Boogaloo v1.3.2.0
How's 2021? Does it smell nice? It smells of burnt gunpowder. Less so than the previous year, though.
Hello everyone, the world finally made it through 2020, so here's a treat to start out the new year! The full changelog can, as always, be seen at: https://github.com/BSVino/DoubleAction/blob/develop/CHANGELOG.md

Highlights

Melee Rebalance

This attempts to balance brawl-centric styles of play with other playing styles by making the following changes:
• Bring gun brawl (stock attack) damage down to the current level of regular melee attacks, so that you cannot 1-hit-kill people with 100% health even if you have the bouncer's melee buff unless you have a heavy weapon (Persuader/Vindicator/Black Magic).
• Melee attacks can now no longer be held down for more than 5 punches. People have been abusing the full-auto nature of melee attacks using console commands and this fixes that.
• Style bar usage for melee attacks is now based on the damage potential of the attack.
• Akimbo Stallions/Sentinels now have the same melee damage as a single Stallion/Sentinel

Diminishing certain bonuses over time

[olist]
• After winning a race/dropping off a briefcase/killing the wanted, you are rewarded with a super style meter. This meter's depletion rate is now doubled every minute. The initial depletion rate has been halved to compensate.
• When chosen as the wanted, you get healed every time you kill someone. This heal will now halve every minute. The initial amount of healing has been doubled to compensate. [/olist] This will mean that even experienced players will no longer be able to hold on to these bonuses for an extreme amount of time.

No longer automatically dropping weapons to make room for weapons picked up from the ground

This stalled people too much in case the game dropped the wrong gun. Press G to drop manually. The old behaviour can be restored with the "da_drop_overflow_on_pickup" variable.

Other changes

• Add Russian translation for the menus by Louie
• Fix a race condition in the vote kick system allowing people to survive a kick vote by reconnecting at a certain time
• Make da_version_server respond in rcon properly
• Changed a few drums from prop_physics to prop_physics_multiplayer in order to be able to walk through them.

What now?

The official servers have been updated or will be updated once they have drained of players using the old version. All other server owners have been notified about this update and will probably update their servers to the new version very soon. You will not be able to find servers that haven't updated yet with the in-game server browser. However, you will be able to find them using the Steam server browser, but trying to connect will yield a version mismatch error. I recommend using the in-game server browser until all servers have updated. Servers updated so far:
• SimRai (most)
• Superfall Boogaloo!
• dr.N0s
Servers not updated:
• EMR (notified)
• HomeRcide (notified)
• Jim's (no contact info)
• [ju:nien] (notified)
• karn's (notified)
• Knalltten (notified)
• OurDare (no contact info)
• RIVINS (notified)
• Rudeflesh (notified)
• Tuijnenburg (notified)
EDIT: There's an unofficial community discord server, managed by slikktic and [L'SL] Lucasjlw: https://discord.gg/aycVCUDrXj

Double Action: Boogaloo v1.3.1.0

Hello everyone, it's been a while since the last update, but here's a new one, finally! The full changelog can, as always, be seen at: https://github.com/BSVino/DoubleAction/blob/develop/CHANGELOG.md Highlights: - Steam rich presence - Now your friends can see when you're falling to your death! - Korean translation - Thanks to ! - Map-end votes should actually do something now - unless there's a server mod interfering with it :/ - All melee is now lag-compensated - previously only fistpunch melee was lag-compensated, and only if you left-clicked. - Fast Weapon Switch (hud_fastswitch) now works as intended - no more extra clicks! I've been holding off publishing this update for a while, since I didn't have contact data for many of the servers' admins and was looking for way to trigger auto-update mechanisms that people might or might not have. However, with the recent closure of a bunch of servers, that number is down to 1 server. All other server owners have been notified about this update and will probably update their servers to the new version very soon. On servers that haven't updated yet, there will be some issues with 3rd person crosshairs not pointing where they're shooting. As a workaround until they update, switch to 1st person mode using the X key. Servers updated so far: - Superfall Boogaloo! - SimRai Servers not updated: - RIVINS (notified) - WELSHE (notified) - Rudeflesh (notified) - HomeRcide (notified) - EMR (notified) - Facemask (no contact info)

Double Action: Boogaloo v1.2.2.2 (Update)

This server-side patch fixes a rounding error in the vote tallying system, leading to votes failing unless there is no counter-vote. Windows and Linux Steam clients will also automatically update the local server component. This update is not necessary in order to effectively participate in votes. Sorry for taking so long to catch this :) PS: Again with apologies to people hosting hands-off servers on a Mac, we're only releasing this bug fix for Windows and Linux. Mac users can still join v1.2.2.2 servers with v1.2.2. Update: Looks like i briefly broke the server browser. Should be working now.

Double Action: Boogaloo v1.2.2.1

This patch fixes a couple of bugs in the voting system. On the client side, effective immediately when downloading this update, there are two changes:

• Prevent situations where there is a preselected choice that you cannot change.
• In the "Call vote" menu, entries used to be invisible when selected. This has been fixed.
On the server side, effective as soon as the server owner updates, there is
• Tied multiple-choice votes are no longer decided in favor of the topmost choice, but treated as if not enough players had voted.
Onwards comrades, power to the people! PS: With apologies to the Mac users among you, we're only releasing this bug fix for Windows and Linux. Mac users can still join v1.2.2.1 servers with v1.2.2.

Double Action Boogaloo v 1.2.2

I love these rhyming version names. That's correct! Double Action has received another slew of bugfixes and balances, changes and enhancements. Punters will notice some additions to the scoreboard, as well as upgrades to spectator mode. Bots can now mantle and climb in some spots, and the hitmarkers for incoming fire will now dynamically scale with game resolution, making for a clearer impact on larger screens.
Our more experienced superfallers will notice that "WORTH IT!!" is now doled out less liberally, making for more intense and rewarding skybattles. Additionally, gameplay has been tightened and bugs squashed, and the votekick system has received a tweakin. You can view the changelist here As usual, if you're making maps be sure to show us what you've got! Now get in there and RRRRRRUMBLE!

Double Action: Boogaloo v1.2.1.2

Hello fellow Double-Actionists! Just a tiny update concerning mostly the non-Windows users.

• Linux users no longer crash when entering observer mode (already released on 2016-06-18)
• The Mac build is now up-to-date and thus compatible with the servers again (thanks rezidue)
Btw, if someone knows how to build the Mac port on Linux, please share, as that would make updating the Mac build a loooot easier :)

Double Action: Boogaloo v1.2.1

That's right boogalooers it's bugfix time! TomyLobo has appeared out of the flames like Robert Patrick Jr in the final scenes of Terminator 2, delivering a chunky bunch of fixes to munch. Double Action has long been endeared with bugs ranging from the mundane to the insane, and this update smooths that ride leaving a clean guide for your styling-est slide. TomyLobo is the living embodiment of community-borne awesomeness. Two months ago he popped up on the boogaloo radar with some nonchalant bugfixes and sensible github ideas and has since gone on to single handedly rejuvenate Double Action: Boogaloo with his select lines of code. Double Action has always relied on the skills of the people that play it, and will continue to do so into the future! If you can code, map, model, texture, sing, dance or stand on your head and move a box with the force, we want to hear from YOU! Get in contact via the community submissions forum on the DA steam discussions board, or add Stormy on steam! As usual, server operatives will need to run the steam update on their various servers. The SimRai servers are up-to-date, as is the Through Human Eyes (T|H|E) server and Wizard of Distortions community server. In this update:

• Akimbo weapons now drop one by one. Duallies too inaccurate all of a sudden? Don't want to spend all that time reloading two pistolas? Throw one away and get back into the action thanks to this fancy gameplay tweak.
• Overlapping slowmo now behaves properly. If you gain slowmo seconds during a slowmo activation, you can now disable your slowmo without re-activating the newly acquired slowmo seconds.
• Prevent switching to grenades when picked up. Few things suck more than trying to grab a local grenade only to find your weapon has disappeared and is being replaced by said grenade. That no longer happens, so now there's PLENTY of things that suck more than that!
• Fixed a bunch of ways to get stuck. Getting stuck is one of the few things that suck more!
• Don't update style skill until after a respawn. No more nitro sploits! You know who you are...
And more bugfixes and changes. See the full changelog here Now it's time to kick bubble gum and chew some ass. And I'm all out of ass. See you on the servers this weekend ;)

Name Polls Close Tomorrow + Upcoming

When polling began, Dive Harder was in a solid 20 point lead, but then in a surprising (and stylish!) reversal Doves of Fury pulled way ahead! Now Dive Harder is closing back in to again overtake Doves of Fury. Voting closes some time tomorrow (exactly what time? I dunno, whenever I feel like taking the poll down) so if you haven't already, get your vote in here: http://www.doubleactiongame.com/double-action-boogaloo-steam/ The Double Action team has been eating apples all week and the result is that the OSX version of DA is almost ready. Its bits and bytes are currently loaded into Steam and ready to be processed and downloaded by all of our beautiful players, we just have to do make sure none of the apples have any bugs before the hour of final disbursement (exactly what hour? I dunno, whenever we stop eating them apples.) In addition we're going to release the OSX version in tandem with the Steam Workshop, which will let anyone build and distribute modifications to the game, some of which may be incorporated back into the official version. All of this will happen perhaps some time this weekend (exactly what day? I dunno, whenever it's done.) EDIT: Sorry guys, looks like the workshop is going to take longer than we thought, it's coming soon, but not as soon. We'll push forward with the Mac support, but workshop will be in a later update.

Bugfix patch now available.

A patch is now available for Double Action that mades the following changes. * In an effort to reduce the volume of grenades, grenades have been removed from the buy menu. * Teamplay mode has been removed until it can be better polished. * Added an indicator that helps highlight which weapon on the ground the player would pick up if E is pressed. * Some of Brawl's situational bonuses have been reduced. * Fixed a stuck bug related to sliding, and another stuck bug related to wall flipping. * Some updated sounds. Your Steam client should download the changes automatically. I appreciate any feedback from these changes so please leave your thoughts in our forums. We'll be continuing to apply fixes for balance issues and bug fixes to try to make the release process as smooth as possible.

Vote for the next version name!

Now that Double Action is out, we're starting to work on the next version now, but we can't decide on what the most stylish name for it should be. We've narrowed it down to our two favorites, you can help us decide by voting here.

Double Action is a free stylish multiplayer game about diving, flipping, and sliding your way into action movie mayhem.

What's Double Action Like?

Imagine doing a backflip off some dude's face, then diving through a window, gold-plated pistols firing in slow motion. There's an explosion behind you and somebody's stolen your briefcase full of money.

Is that enough action for you? Multiply it by two for Double Action.

So, it's like a Micheal Bay movie?

Don't talk to me.

So, it's like a Freddie Wong movie?

Hell yeah! Now you're talking!

Are there weapons? I like weapons.

Yes. Yes you do.

• The Sentinel 9* - A 9mm pistol
• The Stallion .45* - A .45 caliber pistol
• The Undertaker - A 9mm sub-machine gun
• The Mac Daddy - A .45 caliber sub-machine gun
• The Persuader - A combat shotgun
• The Vindicator - A fully-automatic rifle
• The Black Magic - A burst-fire rifle
• Your Fists - They pack a mean punch
• The High Explosive Grenade - For when all else fails

* Pistols also available in dual wield style.

This all sounds very stylish!

Style is good; we like style. Choose a style skill for specialized action:

• Marksman - Improved gun handling and extra firearms damage
• Athlete - Faster speed and better stunts
• Bouncer - Deal more damage when brawling
• Reflexes - Super-slow-motion and bullet time
• Nitrophiliac - Extra grenades, more explosions

What's the objective?

Double Action is a no-holds-barred battle royale interspersed with objectives to survive checkpoints, capture the briefcase full of money, and hunt down the wanted criminal.

How much does it cost?

Don't be ridiculous, it wouldn't be very stylish if we charged you. Double Action is free, just download and play!
