The DEFINITIVE EDITION has been updated! The big news is, as you can probably tell from the name of the update, the Linux edition! That’s right, you can now play The Way of Life: DEFINITIVE EDITION on your Linux computer!
We’ve been busy working on the Linux porting, but that’s not all: we fixed a few bugs that slipped past playtesting and updated the game Hub. For the full list of changes, read below.
- Settings: the VSync options are now properly saved, and will not reset on game start;
- Windowed mode: it should now work properly and on every resolution;
- Sounds: added missing footsteps sound in a few locations;
- Texts: fixed a few typos;
- Tutorial: the symbols on the Library Keys are now displaying correctly when picked up;
- Hub: the doors have been slightly altered to show which ones hold game levels inside. Indicators on each game door now show which level endings have been completed, so it’s easier to spot from the center of the hub which levels you haven’t played yet and how many endings you are missing.
- Fixed minor bugs and glitches.

The Way of life: DEFINITIVE EDITION has been released. It is now time to give some love to the Free Edition as well! The previous version was two years old: with the Spring Renovation Update this small fragment of the full game will look like the one in the DEFINITIVE EDITION.
In addition you can now play the game in three new languages: French, German and Russian.
If you have played the Free Edition before and you are still waiting to play the DEFINITIVE EDITION, we suggest you play the game again and experience all the improvements made in the past two years.

The three experiences of the Free Edition have been updated and expanded and 21 new levels have been added. The experiences are now part of an overarching story you can discover by playing and exploring all the levels.
The Ending of the game will take into account every choice the player makes by playing through all the levels.
The game is now available in 5 languages (EN ITA GER FR RUS) and cards and achievements have been added.
Consider the Free Edition as a proof of concept. If you like the idea behind the game, go buy the DEFINITIVE EDITION, you will not regret it!

Did you know that the three characters are related to each other? The Kid is the Adult’s son and the Oldman’s nephew. Even if all the experiences are open and accessible from the very beginning, all stories are in some way linked, and it is possible to trace a timeline if you play all the experiences!

During production we assigned a code name to each character, main or secondary, based on their predominant color. For example, we called the Kid “Red”, the Adult “Blue” and the Oldman is “Brown”. We did this to better organize the project and to improve visual identification of each character, so that every character would be instantly recognized based on their color.

After watching the trailer, someone commented on the presence of guns in the game. Today in this feature spotlight we want to touch on that a bit. Even if the game features guns in a couple of experiences, those are just a small fraction of the whole game, and both times it is well contextualized. They are not there for the sake of it! In the DEFINITIVE EDITION of the game, there are more than 75 choices to make! What does that mean exactly? Each level has 2 or more choices (some more obvious than others) that the player will need to face. Every choice will lead to a different ending of the level, and If you can find them all, you’ll get a nice surprise!

Over the course of the development (from the very beginning of the first prototype) we created exactly 1500 commit on github. That means we “updated” the game 1500 times!

Hi guys, we have finally updated the Free Edition of the game with lots of improvements and fixes. Here are the full patch notes for the 2.0 update released on November the 21st, 2016.
- We overhauled the tutorial section to clearly reflect all the changes we made in the new update. All in all, the tutorial should be more clear and more useful than the previous one.
- A new mechanic has been added to the game: in-game tips. Whenever you feel lost or in doubt on what to do next, by pressing a key (Q on Keyboard, B on gamepad) you’ll receive a small tip contextualized as one of the character thoughts. This should hopefully make the game easier to understand.
- Made a lot of improvements to the character controller: all movements should now be smoother and overall more pleasant.
- Solved a bug where the cursor would not be locked in the game screen after switching to desktop and switching back in.
- Changed the Oldman character movement system as some people would get motion sickness. The new system should fix the issue, retaining at the same time the same simulation of the old age view.
- Solved a game breaking bug in the Positive Dream Kid section where landing on roofs would not work properly.
- Solved a game breaking bug in the money gathering section in the Positive Dream Adult level where collision with NPCs would send the player flying out of the game world.
- Sped up some sections of the game which were too long and boring.
- General bugfixing and frame rate improvement.
- Major improvements to the user experience.
- All texts have been overhauled and spelling mistakes have been fixed.

Hi guys, we have finally released all the contents of the free to play version of the game for windows and mac. There are 3 experiences available for a total of 9 levels. The new experience available is the positive dream. We have also implemented the full compatability with the xbox controller, and review all the old experiences. We have added the trophy room, the crowdfunders room and a settings menu. From now on all the contents that we will develop will be available only on the Definitive Edition of the game, that will be the paid version. Hello friends! As always thanks for your support! We read every single message and review and we‘re already trying to fix everything and polish the experience, taking your feedbacks and suggestion in consideration for future updates. Something that started an year ago as a simple five minutes prototype is now increasingly shaping up to become a full fledged videogame experience. So far, we worked on the game with our resources with no additional funding, but we are now in need of your help. As we already mentioned before, we’re starting a crowdfunding campaign for the complete version of the game later this month. Huge part of the success of the game is due to the game being free. We still want the community to experience a small part of the game for free, with limited content (no achievements, no cards, only a small selection of levels to try out). Consider it as an extended demo version. To do this, however, we need to ask you a little help. Hello friends! We are happy to announce we have released a new update, the first in what we hope to be a long list! The prototype version of the game will always be available as demo. We are working really hard to bring you our vision of The Way of Life. The game as we designed it will be way bigger than what we can currently achieve without funds or external helps, so we are going to start a crowdfunding campaign on September. After this update, the next major one will be available to you at the beginning of the campaign: we hope that you'll try out the levels and you’ll be able to decide if our game is worth your money. Obviously, there is still a long way to go, so the levels we are releasing are still to be considered as alpha, missing content like music and sound fx and technical features, like optimization, controller support, a more detailed setting menu and so on. The quality of the final game will be of course proportional to the result of the campaign. This new update features 3 new levels and a whole new Experience. We hope you’ll have a fun time playing the new content. Since the game is still very early in development, we are looking forward every possible feedback. This game wouldn’t have left his prototypal stage if it wasn’t for your overwhelming support and feedback, so once again, we would like to thank every single one of you, you guys rocks! Hello Friends! First of all we want to thank you for your extremely positive feedback. We never expected to reach so many players and youtubers around the world. We are very happy that you enjoyed our creation. Unfortunately we had some delays in the development, but now WE ARE BACK! We are aware of all the bugs that you reported to us, plus the fact that TWL works only on 64-bit OS. The actual game was made in 2 days, more or less, but the final version will be available for as many configurations as possible. At the moment we are looking for funds to develop and complete our game. In order to achieve this we are considering a crowdfunding campaign. In addition we are searching for a publishing contract. We are working hard to create the best experience possible for all of you without forgetting the soul of the game. Thanks again, please let us know your impressions =)

Hello my friends, I'm happy to announce that our latest game is now available in early access! We've decided to include the first three levels for FREE and then add the levels during the development. the complete version will include: - 20+ levels - Oculus rift mode - Multiplayer mode - Emoticons and cards and much more!
