Why it was removed?
Hi guys, as many of you noticed, Minimon3D was recently removed from sale. This happened due to me requesting it to Valve, and the reason behind it was that Minimon3D is built on a 10 year old custom 3d engine that is slowly becoming incompatible with modern hardware. Due to this, many new players were buying the game and finding out that it was constantly crashing or not even starting, and this lead to lots of refunds and support that I can't provide. And because of this the bad reviews for the game have been accumulating. While I've been occasionally providing small updates, in 2023 the tech used for this game is so old that even the building tools itself barely work in modern OS.
Why so fast?
Why the game was de-listed without giving people some time to buy it? Well, I wanted to avoid people rushing to buy the game and then getting disappointed by finding out that it did not work on their computer. Thank you for understanding, and I will also remember you all that I've been working on a full remake of the game, this time in 2D but using modern engine (Unity).
What about the future of Minimon?
Two Minimon games existed, this Minimon3D for Steam and also a previous 2d game that was released for iOS almost 10 years ago. Both games were based on the same engine, and thus share similar data files etc, I built some tools to extract the data into Unity so that I could rebuild the games faster. While it is possible that in the future this specific game returns to Steam in some way, right now my main focus is to deliver the remakes.
What about those remakes?
I am planning to offer the 2D remake of Minimon3D for free for all Steam users that already own Minimon3D. The remakes won't be early access games, instead they will be full releases, with more polish and testing than this game, as I matured a lot as developer in those last years. Regarding the other remake of the original game, it will be a separate release, although I will offer a way for both game to communicate with each other. Each game will also contain some exclusive monsters, and both games will have a completely different story and region to explore.
Join the Minimon community!
Join the Discord server to discuss about the remake or also talk about Minimon3D!
Hi Minimon fans! Long time no see, I'm happy to tell you that progress on the Minimon remake is happening at a steady pace. Some of the new things included in the remake include:
- Large redesign of the monsters. Bad monsters removed, new ones added.
- Multiple regional variants for almost every monster
- Monsters can now equip weapons (and other items)
- Human trainers will work a bit differently in battle
- Evolution system now works a bit differently also

Hi guys, there was a long time without news or even a patch, but since this game still has a small community of dedicated players, I decided to release some patches for improve the overall quality of life for the game. It required me to dive into the old game code, which is really ancient, done in a programming language that no one uses anymore, also using a custom game engine without documentation, so it was no easy task. This patch is quite small, maybe later I can try something bigger:
- Removed menus for online mode (since there are no servers until the remake, no sense keeping those)
- Co-op mode should now be playable offline
- Enabled cheats mode
Hi guys! Sorry for the long time without saying anything, 2017 was a long year full of new Minimon prototypes, but the project for now still sits in a weird limbo. Part of the big problem was that when Minimon was released for Early Access, there 5 devs working on the game, and everyone abandoned the project except myself. And I was just a coder before, so I had to spent all those 2 last years learning all I could about game design, making art for games, music and other stuff. My grand ambition is to recreate the whole game, fixing both the stability/bugs, while fixing the game design/story and mostly everything. I'll show you guys all the prototypes I made alone since the updates stopped. Prototype #1 - The 3d remake https://imgur.com/a/9pLGW https://youtu.be/0bTZP12N-fg This showed potential, but having spenting months on it, I felt that alone it would take years to finish all the graphics, and I had no funding to pay somebody with enough experience to help. Prototype #2 - Simple pixel art style https://imgur.com/a/0DqjN With this one I felt I could finish it myself in a year at most, but I was afraid how players would react to such drastic change in style. Prototype #3 - Voxel minimon https://imgur.com/a/sZolX I did briefly work in this prototype, a couple weeks, but after a storm I lost some important files and lost motivation to recreate them. So, in the end, I did lots of experiments, but I'm still stuck at the graphics, since the coding of the game is mostly finished by now. The project is not dead, I just need to find both a good way to go and then enough time to finish it. Give your feedback!

Hey again guys, I decided to be a bit more transparent about the development of the new version of Minimon. Sadly I've been unable to work on it every week since I had to take some side jobs in order to be have some extra income to live. However there's lots of progress done, and I've decided that I should start showing it to the players. So currently I'm working in 2 things: [olist]

Hi guys, just a quick patch for players who had a pink screen when playing and did not read the discussions group. If you had a pink screen before but already disabled the "postprocessing" option in settings then this patch does nothing for you. Also, I ask that if you find bugs then report them to me or just write a topic in the discussion forum, as usally bugs just are there because I dont know about them and many I can fix in 5 minutes if they are reported. PS: The remake of the game is still being worked on, and is almost ready, please be patient.

Hi again guys! This is a small patch, it mainly fixes two problems that were reported by players.
- The snow area appears pink to some players. I have an idea why this happens, but since I can't reproduce the problem myself, I replace the snow effect with a worse looking version (more stable ).
- It seems that in lots of menus the monsters levels were not displaying correctly, its now fixed.

Hi guys, posting here just to say that I'm not dead and the game update is still being done, just slowly. Again, for those that dont know yet, I decided to port/rewrite the whole game in Unity engine, as the previous version ran on a custom engine that I made myself and that was the main reason behind the bugs / stability. Current progress of porting the game - Battle system 100% - Controls 100% - Save system 50% - Splitscreen co-op 100% - Multiplayer 10% - Graphical system 20% Hopefully just one more month or two will be enough, but I can't promise a date yet. Note that I also decided to do lots of gameplay changes, but probably I will do that only after releasing the update. Stay tuned, I hope to bring more news soon!

Hi guys! As most of you know, there weren't any new patches in the last months since I'm rewriting the game in a new engine, to fix tons of problems with game. I've been a bit silent regarding updates, I was too busy working on this, but now I finally have something to show! Here's a small video of the starting area running in the new engine: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0bTZP12N-fg Some notes:
- The colors/textures/models are still not the final version
- There are some clipping issues
- Already has proper gamepad support, you can now finally use the left stick to move

Hi guys! Many players were reporting that their character was appearing bald after playing for a while, so I just fixed that, with this new patch the hair will return to your character. PS: I've been silent for some weeks, but don't worry, I've been working on the new game version every single day, I'll reveal some new details once its possible. Stay tuned for more news!

First, some news about the Minimon remake.
- Movement system rewrite is now done, and it is not tile-based anymore, allowing more movement freedom (including support for analog joysticks!)
- Wild monsters artificial inteligence rewrite done, they now have different personalities (agressive, shy, etc) and can react if you throw food in the ground
- Local co-op rewrite in progress, now if you have just 2 players no longer it will require wasting the bottom screen
- Black boosters are now working
- Some menus were not displaying the monster levels in some languages (including English)
- Local-co temporarily disabled in offline mode (still usable in online menu + local server)

Ho ho ho, there's a Christmas event going on in the Minimon world, login in as soon as possible! Talk with the Santa Claus near Clocktown and start your quest, there's an exclusive Christmas monster waiting for you! Also this update comes with the following fixes:
- It is now possible to give vitamin and food items to your monsters and main character.
- It seems that the level was not updating correctly after battles without logging out, it is now fixed
- I did a big rewrite of the servers, expect more stability now

Minimon was show yesterday at Lisbon Game Week, thanks to everyone who played the game there! There was lots of feedback from the players, and some bugs were found, so here's a new patch.
- Changed battle menus (now uses keys, check pic!)
- Fixed world map loading (was invisible before)
- Some small stability fixes
- Updated all 3 version (Windows, Mac and Linux)
A new Minimon patch is now ready, that adds some optimizations and fixes some bugs. Also there was a change of plans, the big patch that I promised is now canceled. Instead I've been revamping the whole game from the ground up on those last months, and essentially porting the game to a new engine. I'll start publishing videos/pics of this new version soon. Until then, I'll keep releasing small patches to the current version as necessary.
Hi Minimon players! The online servers are now restored and should continue working online unless something bad happens. Meanwhile, I continue working on the big watch, please wait a bit more for it. Until next time, and happy Minimon hunting!
Minimon News
As you can see, last weekend there was no update, and probably there wont be another in next weekend. The reason is that I'm working a big update that is not something that can be finished in one week. Some parts of the game are a bit unpolished, and I'm addressing that issue with this patch. Things that I'm going to remake:
- Interface (all the menus, etc)
- Battle flow (needs more action, less boring text everywhere)
- Other small details
Robot body patch
I've received some complaints that the robot class turned players into floating heads without body. This is now fixed.
- Robot bodies are now working properly
- Fixed some quest scripts
- Changed the game type/element system (work in progress)
- Prepared game for new monster mutation system (coming soon)
Here's a new weekend patch!
- Fixed local co-op mode
- Fixed PvP duels (both co-op and online)
- Linux build now no longer crashes at startup
I apologize for not having any patch during last week, but I was unable to work due to a fever. Anyway I'm now back and already fixed tons of small bugs.
- Removed moving camera from battles
- Fixed FPS hiccups
- Fixed shop prices bug
- Fixed crashes after capturing a monster
- Fixed partners visual changing at random
Memory leak patch
After spending all the weekend working non-stop, here come's a very very important patch that will improve the game stability!
- Removed 99% of the game memory leaks
- Fixed problem with disappearing characters (was the cause of many crashes)
- Added some optimizations
Stability patch
Thanks to the players who helped found some issues that caused serious stability problems. Also achievements are now available too in Linux and Mac!
- Fixed problem that caused most of the random crashes
- Fixed crash that happened when displaying your team monster list
- Fixed splitscreen mode (it is now working again!)
- Added more achievements (and enabled them in the Linux and Mac builds)
- Fixed online saving problem (some stuff was not being saved!)
Achievements added!
Many people asked why Minimon did not have any achievements. So today I spent many hours adding support for them and created a big list (not final, more will be added later!) Note that for now while there's already tons of them listed, not all are working yet, they will start working in future patches (some require features that are not working yet!). Also all achievements already available apply retroactively, once you login with this patch they will unlock. PS: Achievements currenly only available in the Windows version, achievements for OSX and Linux will come soon.
Hunter Team Order Patch
A new patch is already out with a very requested featured, the option to re-order your hunter, along with your monsters ... meaning, you no longer need to use the hunter as the first element of your Team! The patch also include some stability fixes, and a couple of minor bug fixes. Also those guys at the Shibia river now fight too along with their pets - many people asked why most NPC hunters don't fight, the answer is, well, they will fight, just wait.
What's coming soon?
- Full rework of the GUI (the game will have a interface that looks way better)
- Craft system (a related area is already secretly added in the last patch!)
- Better battle animations
- Better monster animations (walk, idle, attacks, etc)
Thanks to players who helped reporting the problems, the new save system seems functional, so here's a new update!
- Stability fixes
- Added day-night cycle (check info below)
- Added town names to world map
- Added offline mode (does not need internet at all, not even to register!)
About offline mode, since some people told me that sometimes could be nice to be able to play even without internet, I added this mode. Note that it does not use the same account as the online mode, actually you don't even need an account to play offline!
A quick patch thanks to the players who tested and reported some bugs from the latest big patch.
- Problem that caused online players to appear invisible was fixed
- It is now possible to use WASD to move in OSX
So the big overhaul of the saving system is now pratically done and so here's a new patch, that also includes proper animations to smack monsters around!
- Saving, trades and other important things are now done 100% server-side (hacking will now be very difficult, if not impossible)
- Initial version of the new battle animations system (only Smack has animation now, but more will come soon)
- Big fix of the Spanish translation (still lots of work to do in this though!)
- Tons of small bugs fixed
Hi guys, for this next update I decided to rework the whole saving system for the game, so it will take a while for me to release a new patch (well, just a few more days I hope). This new update will remove the 'Save' button. Some people asked me why there was a save button in a online game, and the reason was to allow offline play. However to a few reports of hacking (and I found a few myself too), I decided to improve the saving system before it is too late. Starting from next update, a internet connection will be required to play. For those who prefer to play alone, you can still select the single-player mode as before. The game will still save your character in the game servers, allowing you to switch between multiplayer and single-player as you want. If anyone who currently owns Minimon and for some reason would prefer that internet connection requirement is not necessary, please comment here. PS: I also fixed tons of small bugs. And I'll try to squeeze some new content into the next patch :)
Hi guys, its Summer now so I'm going to vacations, however I already have a new build almost ready that I will release once I'm back and test it properly. Most of you who played for a bit have visited the monster ranch. Right now, it is pretty simple and empty... Also, if you did enough battles, you probably got those weird items like claws, fur, scales, etc, that no one knows whats their purpose right? So, how are those two things related? I'm working on a cool crafting system, that will allow players to use the monster spoils from battle, plus some other items obtained by exploring the game (ore from the mines, flowers from different places, etc). While most of the system is already implemented in the current version (even though tons of stuff are hidden for now), I will soon start by making more bits and bits of it acessible. Soon you will be able to:
- Tile the ranch fields and plant crops
- Harvest herbs and flowers and make potions
- Mine ores from the mines and build weapons and acessories
- Make fabrics from monster spoils and craft clothes for your character
If you are having troubles with the Fire Temple boss fight against Kayla, there is a temporary solution: - Just disable the music in the settings menu. You can enable the music back after the battle is over. This crash is caused due to problems in the music file for that battle, it seems to be corrupted somehow, I'll replace in next update. However note that the next patch might take some days, because I'm fixing a difficult bug that causes some monsters to disappear/transform into Pinbugs.
