New puzzle type inside caves; New caves added; The most annoying bug - fixed;

I wanted to share some progress before the end of the year. In my timezone there is another few hours of 2024 to go. * In this update a new type of challenge was added to some of the caves:
You have to clear the garbage before an exit appears. I am curious how they will be received and if such more puzzle like caves will be interesting for the community. * For too long there was a problem where the clone character would disappear in thin air and the game couldn't say what happened. Only recently I noticed that it was happening when the "teleport dodge" ability was used with a tile that disappeared before the clone had a chance to step on it. This left the clone in some alternative dimension and didn't allow it to continue. This problem has been fixed now. * From now on, if a cave exit is destroyed by a bomb or another power up, another cave exit will drop with the next batch of pieces.

Minor bug fixes

New features:

  • a new "Destroy color" power up added to Exploration mode for matching 5 tiles
A few fixes rolled out:
  • The new menu music now loops.
  • The score multiplier is visible again.
  • Gems falling on a tile occupied by the clone or an enemy will be consumed now
  • Bug report window now correctly closes when a bug is submitted.
  • Sound and Music volume are truly off when set to 0 in the game options.
  • All sound effects are controlled by the sound volume now.
It is neither a bug nor a feature, but the information card that appears when selecting a tile with an enemy on it will now appear faster.

0.3.3.5 update

In this update we make the game a bit more pleasant to look at and to listen to. A big series of improvements on the replays recording should lead to more consistent replays. Those help a lot when dealing with bugs. Please make sure to use the ingame "report a bug" button, so that a replay of your game is sent together with your report

New game mode: Exploration


During exploration, the way new tiles appear on the board is different. In this mode, the player character is always in the center of the board and the tiles underneath shift to center the player whenever they move from there. This allows to design a global map with different map objects that can be discovered when the player shifts around enough. During exploration mode the board size that can be interacted with is reduced, which can make matching more challenging. Using the shifting mechanic, on the other hand, you can outrun enemies More map objects will be added in the future.

New features:


Run log will display the number of bricks destroyed during matching. Caves are darker than regular levels Crystals, gems and cave exits now shine with their own light. Matching tiles makes them emit light Speech bubbles about changing nicknames. On first time accessing the table-station the player will be prompted to enter an alias for their clone Sound effects are a bit more synchronized

Fixes:


Initial grid should no longer have square matches. While the enemy info card is shown for one enemy, clicking on another enemy will update the info card instead of hiding it. Minor issue with crystals not changing their color when the tile they are on changes color. All log entries display the proper entity label (Enemy + ordered number of appearance) Fixed replays desynchronization when a hint move is shown Replays recording improved Terraform piece will always result in a different color from the original Terraform tile animation playing in full even when MoveOnMatch activated it Fixed a bug where player was not able to jump back to their previous position if they make multiple jumps in a single move If more than one speech bubbles appear during level up (gaining multiple levels), only one was getting removed after upgrade selection

0.3.3.3 patch

There are many more things that I want to fix, but I don't want to postpone sharing the bug fixes that I already have

  • Problem with clicks not always registering should be fixed
  • Fixing minor interface issues
  • Teleport dodge now is properly connected when picked up
  • Fixed a glitch where if 2 enemies with reactive armor would bump into each other it would cause a fountain of never ending stream of gems to come out of them
  • Run log now has information about user input, abilities acquired and used by all entities and the tiles matched on the grid
  • Replays should be a bit more stable
  • Timer pauses on game over
  • Entering/exiting caves should be less prone to problems
  • Ability tooltip in Enemy cards now properly display the color of the ability
  • Improved points FX
  • Fixed a problem with hints in caves with non-square shape
  • The copy button in the log window shows when the log was copied
  • Entities inside caves can no longer consume gems that are not in the same cave
  • Added enemy ability "Hurtful" that increases their damage
  • Added common ability "Reactive camouflage" - change surrounding tiles when you receive damage
  • Moved the last tutorial message so that it does not interfere with the enemy information card
There are some known problems regarding the tutorial, which I will address in future updates. Looking forward to adding more content.

Version 0.3.3.1

Thank you to everybody for giving my game a chance. I even saw some YouTube videos of people playing. This update includes fixes to problems that I saw there and ideas that some players have suggested.

  • The initial waves of enemies are a more forgiving now.
  • A small pause is added when the clone dies so that players can more clearly see what happened.
  • A dedicated run log that includes most actions on the board can now be found in the pause menu. In the future. More types of entries will be added.
  • Dodge teleport skill now actually does something.
  • Solved some problems with the level up panel: players would not be able to select an option or the message bubble would remain visible.
  • When a player and an enemy clash into the same tile, there will be a text message to point that one before they jump on different tiles
  • Some problems with the timer during pause have been addressed
There are still many problems to fix. I will try to bring another hotfix as soon as possible

Hot fix 1

Feedback already started pouring in. Based on it I added the following fixes in this update:

  • Improved audio volume settings to be more sensitive
  • Saving settings between plays is handled better
  • Text on settings screen is now more readable
  • Fixed replays not getting saved on Windows machines causing the game to hang
Looking forward to the next batch of problems to fix

Testing the demo

As the Steam Next fest is just around the corner, I wanted to offer the demo version a bit in advance to catch the biggest problems before the event starts. There are many bugs in the game and not all will be fixed on time, but it has reached a playable state and the ones that are there aren't game-breaking. At least I haven't found such yet. Please post here or in discord any feedback that you have regarding the game.

The HRUMKA crew has discovered a new planet. It is rich on mineral resources. Agent M quickly sends their clone to the surface to start prospecting the terrain. The planet has abundant resources, but during the mining process one specimen of the local fauna accidentally consumes one of the extracted gems. The result is shocking, the berserk creature attacks M's clone. What ensues is a never ending battle for survival.
