Hello Colonists! We are excited to announce the release of Major Update of ExoColony: Planet Survival! Please note that this update BREAKS previously SAVED GAMES. We have maintained save compatibility since September 2024, but recent changes such as building size adjustments made it no longer feasible. To avoid future disruptions, weve bundled all breaking changes into this update and do not plan to break save compatibility again going forward. Thank you for your continued support! This update brings a huge amount of new content and moves the game significantly closer to full release, which we expect to be within the next 23 months.

• Terraformation hugely improved.

Temperature management

• Rooms and blocks now has temperature.
• Heat Tunnel building and related research added.
• Power plants can now produce heat instead of power.
• Temperature can be now turned on when map is starting.

Buildings updates

• BioReactor added: late-game building that helps with pollution and oxygen.
• BioWaste plant added: mid-game building that allows production of biowaste from Biopulp.
• Ventilation center now decrease Oxygen filtering capacity gradualy in time.
• Removed Oxygen Generator, player can use airfilter before electrolyzer is researched.

Research updates

• Research tree vastly updated and rebalanced.
• New research categories added.
• About 10 researches removed.

Today it is not an usual update. We had a lot of meetings in the past few weeks, because we needed to see the bigger picture of where our game is heading. Thanks to our testers, who reported that information and game mechanics was really fast going and in overall a lot of mechanics were fast paced. So we decided to make a couple of big changes in gameplay, which I can already confirm were pretty good decisions and the game is already looking much cleaner, slower paced, clearer and more chill to play. For example:

New Features

• New Tier Cycle - Research:
  • We understand that colony sim games can be overwhelming with all the things you need to learn to make things work. So we decided after a small tutorial YOU will be in charge of what do you want and need to do next. Running low on storage? No problem just research bigger storage or store into dumpsites, etc.
  • Each colonist will produce passively research points. Higher educated colonists will yield higher amounts, but with no education you can expect very little gain. But each researcher in the Research Center will help you with points.

    • Researcher worker slot increases research points gain

• Farm Incubator now produces more food (Basic Food production per recipe increased from 0.3 to 0.4)
• Mining time decreased from base 10s to 8s - (In the early stages of game you spend lot of time digging, so we speed it up a little to keep player more engaged on things that really matters.)

• Several bug fixes
• Fixed Rare Crashes: Addressed rare instances of crashes and game-breaking bugs reported by the community.

• Added Research tab categorized by buildings type

  • Now you can grow Food for your Colonists. It takes couple of jobs to make a chain complete. From transforming Earth into Soil, Soil and Water into Basic Food and in the end purify the Polluted Water into Clean Water again.

  • Food Incubator (Food)
