Big stuff: - Nothin' Stuff: - Added travellers in the outposts, they are randomized and don't do anything. (They are mainly there for lore logistical information) Small stuff: - Fixed Rain still appearing in lavender outpost. (big oversight on my bad, my bad) - Made it so that Aly sometimes wont like it when you burn things to death - - - - - - * I have added an email address on the store page if you wish to contact me. * - - - - - - - - - - - - Pretty much the final update. There's nothing else I really wanna add, plus I don't really have any motivation to continue developing this game. I think it's turned out pretty decent for a tiny little passion project. I will probably continue to add small, incremental changes and fixes in the future. - - - - - - Also, I should mention that in the previous update notes, I called out someone who left a bad review because their bad review was because I didn't know how to fix a glitch they were having, and didn't really have anything to do with the game. This whole thing is a very unprofessional project, its just me goofing around, I didn't really think about the comment much, the review honestly just really got under my skin. I realize that it was unprofessional of me to do that I have removed the comment from the update notes.

Big stuff: - Nothing really. Stuff: - New manual * It is worse stylistically but it's a way smaller file size and has updated info. - "Coloration" in respect to reconstruction * The protagonist will now regain color to their hair and skin if you don't die or exit the game for one hour. - New library books and some corrections to others. - Some more dialogue options. - Added a quiet lil intro jingle when you start the game. - New cheat code: AAR. This cheat code puts all three companions in your party at the same time. ordinarily you can only have one at a time because balancing. (You can check all current cheat codes in a list in the game files) - Another cheat code: HAT. Gives you a cool hat :D (You can check all current cheat codes in a list in the game files) - Added Hunter's Carcass journals scattered throughout the map. There's 4 of them buried under the snow. If you find all of them you can combine them and sell them for big money. Small stuff: - Burning people with Hellfire lowers Aly's opinion of you (which can effect the ending). - Fixed an oversight that didn't check if you have a companion when you add Rain to your party. - Added Aly's full name to her status tab. KoalaPoo84 left a bad review and they're a bitch fr because it wasn't even about the game it was about me personally. I don't have a problem with my game being criticized, but the bad review was because I don't know how to fix a glitch in the game, and didn't have anything to actually do with the game having a glitch or the gameplay. Bruh.

Mostly a quality of life update, no new content. Changes and stuff: - Added custom-built controller support - no PlayStation :( - Bug fixes - Made Aly's Angelic Slash attack do a little less damage - Updated the tutorial and the journals 'helpful information' - primarily added controller config to the these - You need to return Rain to his house for him to leave your party now - Increased the chance that the angel stone will allow you to be able to talk from 10% to 50% if you pick the health option

The goal of this update is to improve Thornhill and it's contents. Big stuff: - Increased spawn rates on all maps except the area between your house and lavender outpost/ - Added notes in the journal for a few people of interest. - Ambient sounds. * When outside you'll hear ambient sounds (usually spooky ones) every 2 minutes (with a 25% chance of failure). Stuff: - Rain has a home now that he spawns in. - Rain appears after an hour instead of an hour and a half. - Added the winter winds sdk tool cheat code. (The code is "SDK") - Added another Iceheart somewhere... (Hint: North-west) Small stuff: - Increased the price of the shovel. General bug fixes - Fixed reconstruction sickness removing all of your defense. - Fixed storage system (again). - Fixed bottle of rot disposal taking away health. A few other small bug fixes and grammatical corrections.

Major stuff: - New character! * The character is named Rain, and will appear in Lavender Outpost after an hour and a half of playtime. * He has a few unique abilities and passively regenerates focus. * Not very fleshed out honestly. Stuff: - Nothing this time. Small stuff: - Nothing this time. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Plans: I'm planning to give each update after this a sort of codename (this one being 'Blackout') and try to make each update more meaningful, but this means more time between updates. I currently believe that, except for some balancing and bugs, Winter Winds is basically done and a finished product. Winter Winds is entirely a passion project, and I have made almost no money off of it (About $100 in total in the last 3 months, of which I've seen zero because Valve still has all of it). Thanks to everyone that has played my game.

Big stuff: - Major rebalancing: All enemies (including bosses) now have much more health. (Give or take 10%- 20% increase.) Stuff: - Added more dialogue and overall content relating to Anna / Anezka. * Anna can now open almost all locks. * A few bugs relating this character have been resolved. * Anna now has a little more to chit chat about. * Anna has a lot more comments about the world and what you're doing. Small stuff: - Changed the stairs on the hillside to make it more fluid. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Quick side thing: I've made a little over $100 off of this game. Valve doesn't send you money until you the total made is over $100, but despite this they've sent me nothing. What's up with that? Sure, it's only 100 bucks and it's not going to change my life or anything, but it's mine.

Major stuff: - Finally figured out how to fix the crab enemy so it doesn't freeze the game every time. - Added a new character that can walk around with you! * The character is a treasure hunter from Sapphire City named Anezka, or Anna for short. * Not nearly nor will be as fleshed out as Aly. * Can be found at Stormridge Outpost, but after the first time you see her she'll move to a spot in the forest, just north-east of Lavender Outpost. * I will try to add more stuff for this character when I can. Stuff: - Nothing today. Minor stuff: - Some extra lore has been added to the library. I'm planning to add another character eventually that has much more lore significance.

Do you want to see some new characters that can be in your party? I'm thinking about adding some new characters that can travel around with you. The problem with this is the entire game has been developed with having either one or two party members in mind. Not only that but it could make Aly a less special character, which is not what I want. I primarily have two characters I want to add: one which is a long term friend of the protagonist, and one who isn't from Thornhill and came there to hunt monsters. If this is going to occur, it could be in a few different ways. It could be that new characters would be locked to certain areas. It could be that they can go anywhere but they won't be anywhere nearly as developed as Aly terms of usefulness, lore or general interactivity. Plus, Aly is already a real yapper, so they won't be talking as much as her anyway. I'll also need to find a meaningful way to meet these characters and add them to your party. Let me know what the 16 of you that play this game think!

After I added the Linux build I messed up some stuff and the game wouldn't launch on Linux or Windows. It should be fixed now but you'll have to relaunch Steam for it to take place.

I have made a distribution package of my game for Linux, however I do not own any Linux-based devices so I can't test it and am honestly not sure if it will actually work. I don't have a lot of faith since rpg maker mv's distribution, since the macOS distribution straight up doesn't work but hopefully Linux does. On other news I might be able to get Winter Winds running on Mac but only maybe, I haven't started that process yet and it might not ever happen. I do own a Mac device though so I will be able to test it. If the distribution doesn't work on Linux, send me an email @ bustonuttt@gmail.com (yes seriously, this is not a joke email, it is real).

Big stuff: - Tasks! - You can now sign up for three different tasks from Georgie for money. Stuff: - Many places where you go from one map to the next, you had to hit one tile, despite there being two open tiles. Many places have been updated so you can touch either tile to travel to the next map. Small stuff: - Fixed a handful of discrepancies and bugs, mostly ones created during this and the previous update.
[ 2024-08-18 01:22:15 CET ] [ Original post ]
Big stuff: - Added a new section to the map! ~ A hilly area just west of Stormridge Outpost, or north of the abandoned temple. ~ It includes... not much! There's a small library, some spots you can jump over rocks, and a pillar that doesn't do anything. Stuff: - Added a shortcut from the temple (which is by the players home at the beginning of the game) to this new area, which is by Stormridge Outpost, which is the furthest north of the map. Small stuff: - Nothin'.

There isn't a lot of new content, but here's an overview: Rosey - Rosey is a stuffed bear toy from the protagonist's childhood that can be found in the abandoned temple west of your house. You'll need to buy soap from Georgie (it's 25 G) and acquire a bottle of water to clean it, then you can equip it to your hands slot. Once equip you can never let go of it, and it gives you an ability that will completely restore your focus. New sound effects - Some new sound effects have been added (about ~17). These include a handful of brief TTS dialogue using a program called SAM, which you can find here. I believe its the same TTS program Faith uses, so it should give it a bit of an uncomfortable horror feel and not a shitty horror game asset flip feel. A little bit of balancing and bug fixing - Just the usual miscellaneous stuff. One of the mains things I wish to mention is technically not part of the update but there is now a game manual and control reference guide for Winter Winds. They can both be found on the game's store page and I also put them in the game's local files. I firmly believe that corny game manuals are awesome so I wanted to make one for this. It's not super corny because I'm simply way too cool for that (no I'm not), but it should be mildly informative.

I've added three mostly empty houses to the map for Thornhill's residents. They'll never be there, but it's the thought that counts.

I did what I stated in the previous post about this update, which you can find here. I added a few instances of some tts voice acting, but its (hopefully) distorted enough to be creepy and not sound like a game penguinz0 would play. I hope to add more of this later but its a long, tedious and joyless activity. I had it mention that Georgie is east of where you start since it seems more direction was needed.

Here's my plans for a major content expansion and hopefully another hour or so of content with more survival horror elements. Please feel free to tell me any suggestions you might have or if you have any constructive criticism. New Campaign and Objective: - I'm planning for a new campaign after endings 4 and 5 (wherein you collect all the shards and do everything as expected). After this the sun in fact does not return due to the Veil. The Veil is the creature in the sky than has disguised itself as the night sky and is blocking the sun (This information/lore is already in the game, it's not new). The defeat the Veil you have to collect a bunch of body parts from the shop keepers (except Georgie because he's not human. Ex. The spellbook seller and the bounty hunter.) and make a frankenstein creature to seal the Veil's consciousness in. While doing this, there will be an invincible creature chasing you named Sabby. If you have any suggestions for Sabby's game play mechanics, let me know, as I'm aware an invincible boss is hard to execute properly. Sabby: - Sabby is a transformed/mutated human than was thrown into Thornhill by the Veil because it's pissed off that you're trying to kill it. Sabby moves at the same speed as you when walking, but you can outrun it. Don't expect any kind of decent path finding. I already have the character sprites made, and I did not use the rpg maker avatar creator. I'm going for a more retro looking style, and the retro style stuff may bleed into the rest of the game if I decide not to be super lazy. Miscellaneous extra stuff: - Probably, haven't thought of anything yet.

Update 1.3 Major stuff: - Death and reloading complete reconstruction. * When you die, you're given the save file load screen instead of the title screen. * When you revive, you have a 2/3rd chance of having 'Reconstruction Sickness,' which lowers several stats but goes away after one minute. * The time it takes to recover from RS is lowered significantly by each Iceheart you find and consume. (If you find all 9 current Icehearts than the time is lowered from 60 seconds to 7.) * Respawning is properly tied into the lore. (Which I had wanted to do all along.) Stuff: - The attack for all bosses has been increased a bit. - Compendium D has been added to Georgie's shop. - A handful of bug fixes. Minor stuff: - Georgie's agility has been raised slightly. - You'll start off with one of 6 random items at the beginning of the game.

Update 1.2 Major stuff: - Intro overhaul! * Basic stat customization * Quick start option * Reorganization of options Stuff: - Added passive health regeneration in battle. - Added passive mania loss during battle. Minor stuff: - Added one small and entirely empty map section west of Stormridge outpost.
[ 2024-06-10 19:08:25 CET ] [ Original post ]
New stuff:
Major stuff:
- Added a new gardening shed (which is next to the house). * The gardening shed can be used to grow Icehearts one at a time (each takes 45 minutes and a 75 G seed you can buy from Georgie). * Can be repaired with 20 sturdy wood and a shovel (Georgie now sells sturdy wood to compensate for this).
Stuff:
- Added Bitterhearts (which can be bought from Georgie). * Bitterhearts can be (painfully) shit out and will turn into money. * Can only be used when in your home and when Aly isn't with you.
Minor stuff:
- Added directions to Aly to Georgie's note. - Added more shifting environmental objects. - Some minor bug fixes and such. *This is not a post-release patch, I already did that but did not include patch notes for it.
