Dear Race to Mars fans, Due to many e-mails we’re receiving from you regarding current status of the project, we wanted to address these questions and tell you about decisions we’ve made concerning the future of Race to Mars and the reasons behind them. First of all, please know that your concern and bitterness in face of the absence of new information about the development of Race to Mars about the state of the project are well understood. Position you’ve found yourself in is one that we truly sympathize with--not only as developers, but most importantly, as players. Please, accept our sincerest apologies for this state of affairs. Due to unforeseen circumstances and outside elements we had to put on hold any communication concerning this project. We did not want to make promises that we might’ve not been able to keep until we were absolutely sure that the work would be resumed. Before we expand on the matter, let us answer the most dire question - yes, the full version of the game will come out and everyone who bought Race to Mars in early access will receive their copy without any additional cost. However, since the final version of the game will be a project that is going to be developed from scratch, we’ve decided to stop the sale of early access version. Sadly, the version of Race to Mars that we took over from an outside developer did not meet our company’s standards. That is why we were forced to make a tough, but ultimately right call to reset the project. It was the only solution that would allow Race to Mars to come out in a way, form and quality we all - us, the developer, and you, the players who supported the project - wanted and expected. The version of Race to Mars, which will be developed by a new team will not have early access. What you will receive will be a fully realized and complete product. Due to project reset, the game will be released in 2019. We would like to apologize once more for any inconvenience you might have suffered. We promise to do everything in our power to make sure that this long journey to Mars will end for you with being happy with the game and us with a satisfaction of a job well done! We proudly present Update 16! Features: - Goals system and extended company image panel. Spend "Hype" points to attempt goal and succeed before the deadline to improve your company image. Climb up the goals tree to reach the ultimate one - "The Mars" that will grant you the victory. Right now all of the goals are placeholders and the final one is missing - expect much more of them in the future updates. - Realistic weather simulation. The weather has impact on the rocket launch - keeping track of it in the "Mission Control" building is necessary for succesfull rocket launches. - Redesigned end turn summary window that combines both income changes as well as your current component production into one panel. - Fixed various small issues with the end turn button. - Redesigned events window that allow to for process the events faster. - WIP: Changes to the engineers system - instead of separate engineers they will be grouped into the teams that will differ from one another by what they specialise in, how many engineers they contain, what special perks they have and who is their leader. This feature will be fully completed in the next update. - WIP: Rockets / Missions / Contracts / Components Production - Due to the changes we are implementing in the framework now, we needed to temporally disable those features while we work on improving them for use by the designers. Now you can schedule a flight mission to orbit the planet or moon and undertake various activities there. New Mission Control allows you to select the rocket, cargo load and the crew that will take part in the mission. Reliability of each component will influence the success of the launch. You will be able to plan the flight and the objectives for the crew to be done after reaching its destination. Finally, on a chosen start date you can observe the launch, keeping fingers crossed for the happy ending - the result will depend on many variables, including the weather conditions which may hinder the course of the mission. Rocket launch / failure animation are to be changed in future releases. Twelfth update is ready for playing! Major update introduces National Space and Air Office (NSaAO) - The building allows you to negotiate with customers, accept contracts, negotiate milestones and browse history orders. Other companies can beat you in a tender for a contract, so be thorough and fast. You must carefully watch the trades. If you successfully complete missions, you gain the necessary funding, otherwise you lose the trust of customers. We also added placeholder content for researches, components, random events and more. All of this will change in the future, but you can already get the taste of what all of these systems will look like when the game is finished. In addition, we improved: Staff Management:

Bundled updates up to #9

Dear Steam Members, Latest update combines all missed weekly updates since update #5 into one big release. We apologize for lack of informations on those smaller updates that happened in between - we were extremely busy working on this one. Here's list of introduced changes:

  • Added engineers recruitment
  • Graph of income and spendings in the previous turn report panel

    Please accept our apologies for a late update. We are working very hard from the beginning of September to make Race to Mars better. You can find the list of the updates below: - System for displaying notifications and receiving emails - Blur added under the UI panels; improved blur effect on the pause screen - New, redesigned buildings tech tree. Buildings has been relocated on the map. Now you can start their construction. - Game Over panel displayed when ammount of the company money goes below 0 - Menu and UI for saving and loading games. The load functionality will be avaliable in the future updates. - Alternative mode for the end turn button - simulate three turns in the time of one - Displaying content of the notification in the inbox panel - Menu in the administration building - Bank loans section in the administration building - Marketing and PR section in the administration building - All loans and marketing campaigns values are the placeholders for now. - Animation for the changes in money, hype and prestige parameters - Improved switching between game panels and sections. Focused panels highlighted. - Timeline money switch - displaying icons when bank loans and marketing campaigns ends. - Implementation of the "Risk & Opportunity" panel, that displays a chance of the random events occuring during end of turn phase. - Graph system implementation.     Today we give into your hands the next update - list of changes below: - Big refactor of game code. Fixed couple of bugs. - Refactored code responsible for managing state of game panels. - Moved creation of the company from game screen, to menu screen. Removed starting conference - instead you have the option to select your company CEO from 3 options. Selected CEO will affect the initial image of your company. The image will change during the course of the game. - Changes to the game interface. End turn button was moved to the bottom left corner. Timeline aligned to the left side of the screen - shows now more months into the future. Inbox button moved to the bottom right side of the screen. Added three toggle switches between timeline and inbox button - tough they dont have any action attached yet. Stats at the top right corner show now counter of threee active ingame currences, money, prestige and popularity. - Fixed bugs occuring when starting another game without exiting application and when using game settings.     Today we give into your hands the next update - list of changes below: - Removed memory overflow while loading data from xml - Fixed the behaviour of the list of countries from "create company" panel. You can now scroll the list using your mouse wheel and change your selection. - List of countries from "create company" panel correctly hides itself when other elements on the panel are selected. - Fixed issues with launching pause screen. - Started refactoring of the code responsible for handling game UI and state. Temporarily disabled interactions with all buildings except the administration. This will be fixed in the incoming weeks as more of the game code will get refactored and moved to the new system. - Clicking on buildings is no longer possible while there is a popup screen visible. - Restored animated notification about progressing turn end on the top menu bar. Other small tweaks, fixes and refactoring. As a result of the changes some functionality from previous builds has been temporarily disabled. The content is still there and will be re-enabled as soon as we finish refactoring and revising it.

    Hello everyone, Today we give you our first update for Race To Mars. There is still a lot of work in front of us but the first month we devoted to learn and understand the complexity of technical side of RTM, sort out the game’s code and plan future fixes was very fruitful. The update we share with you today does not solve all the game’s issues but is a good base for future updates and was worth the time we spent on sorting things out. After studying the code in detail we are confident to say that future updates will be available once a week. We figured that small but frequent updates will better serve fixing the game rather than two or three major ones that would keep you waiting. We are counting on your support during the process. That is why as of today there will be two additional threads on our Steam forum where you can post your ideas and suggestions for fixes and adjustments. The bugs you report directly to us will have our top priority. Old threads shall be closed to keep our communication clear and sorted. You have the right to feel mistreated since then. We are not going to make any excuses for Intermarum dev team. They did their best putting their heart and skill into the a very ambitious and complex project. Sometimes that kind of ambition and game complexity takes it’s toll. But it’s all in the past. Let us start by making it right with all of you who had bought ‘Race To Mars’ by giving each of you a FREE copy of our upcoming game Warlocks vs Shadows.     New Update - Contracts Dotations

    In today's update we want to show you two new features - contracts and grants. These are ways to get funding in game and are key for the game's mechanics. It is another step towards integrating the game into a final product - there will be a lot more contracts than available now, so there will be a lot of choices. Currently due to the Project Manager implementation being incomplete, we suggest you prices worth offering for contracts - in the future it will be dependant on a PM's skill. We hope that with every new update you will be able to glimpse the vision of what we intend Race To Mars to be and that the game will give you even more fun.     Apollo Update is here!

    Today, after many months of work, we finally present to you the Apollo Update. We know that we tried your patience very hard and understand how some of you are very angry at us. We would like to present how we feel about the last few months and hope you will find time to read it. I allow myself these thoughts because we definitely see the finish line of what we want to achieve in Race To Mars 1.0. I speak about the 1.0 version, because we want to update for a few months after the premiere, adding new elements we invented during development, but were unable to fit due to time constraints. The main problem with developing Race To Mars was, as is often the case, it's success. Very good Early Access sales directed us on a path a little too difficult for a team with our experience - we decided to create a bigger, better game with better visuals, a new GUI (which you can see in this build). That unfortunately led to situations where we were forced to create a lot of things from scratch, only realizing that this form of work makes it very difficult to regularly update the game as part of Early Access - too much was happening in the code and not enough in working mechanics to have it reasonably updated. It can be seen in many EA projects. The other reason for the delays were huge changes in the team - two of the programmers who were working on Race To Mars from the beginning decided to focus on personal development and started their PhDs in computer development in a different country. The new team, handling different projects at that time, needed some time to get to know the project and take over its development. It was not without personal problems too, when our main technical designer was struggling with a serious illness and couldn't focus as much on the project. He is now a few days after a kidney transplant and we are all hoping for his swift return to health. His design work is 90% done, so it shouldn't be a source of further delays. Of course, there were also errors in team leadership, which let us learn a lot and help deliver you an even better project. The third reason for the last delays were problems with Mission Control. It required us to reconsider a few project points and, due to other obligations, work on it had to be handled by a different programmer, who, unfortunately, was not able to finish yet. During that time we added a lot of different things, but we decided we really can't afford to wait anymore to finish this one building. We are, all of us, gamers on the team and we have always wanted to make games from our love to them, with faith that we'd treat our fans the way we would like to be treated ourselves. We understand we have failed many of you, but we will keep trying even harder to prove to you that it was worth the wait. We will also make sure to make amends also in other ways, but that will have to wait for another time. Now I invite you to try out the update and write your opinions.
