By Friday August 1 they should become restricted to those who own the respective packages so dont waste time checking them out!
Users who for whatever reason encounter issues with V1.6.6 or who might still have a league race to run tonight can still remain on the previous V1.6.5.2 by right-clicking on AMS2 in the Steam library -> Properties -> Beta and selecting the previousbuild branch.

The third installment of our Endurance series adds a new batch of prototype and GT machinery to our ever-growing roaster this time it is Aston Martin making its grand debut in AMS2, with the pack featuring no less than four formidable models from the prestigious British manufacturer.
Starting with the latest V12 sensation: the Aston Martin Valkyrie Hypercar has been delivering stunning sights and sounds on both sides of the Atlantic this season, although it still gaining speed in the ultra-competitive GTP / LMDh classes it has already won the hearts of racing fans all over.
[/img]
There will be a splash of British Racing Green to the GT3 & GT4 classes as well with the latest Aston Martin Vantage GT3 Evo & Aston Martin Vantage GT4 Evo respectively.

Rolling back the clock a bit to 2020 for the amazing Aston Martin Vantage V8 joining the GTE class still alive and awesome in AMS2!
[/img]
It is not all about the Astons in Endurance Pack Pt3 however as the light & nimble Alpine A110 GT4 Evo is a fresh pretty new face and also joining the GT4 class as its 9th contender.
[/img]
Finally, the Ligier JS2-R as for now the sole contender in the new Ligier European Series - watch this space as there is more to come here!
[/img]
These are the six models making the Endurance Pack Pt3 in its initial release; the pack will sell for US$ 9,99 or the equivalent regional conversion; as usual the cars will have a free trial period in the first few days following their release before reverting to being exclusive to owners of the DLC, so dont miss out on the opportunity to make theyre worth the extra bucks!
[/img]
AMS2 is all about providing a diverse range of motorsports experiences, and it could never really deliver without featuring the ultimate driving challenge - the infamous Green Hell.
There was of course already an initial stab at the Nrburgring back in 2020 with the release of the Nrburgring Pack featuring the modern layouts; a couple of years later the Reiza track team revisited the Eifel Mountains, this time travelling back to the 1971 to produce the most detailed historical version of the Nrburgring, complete with the legendary Sudschleife , fulfilling the original DLC.
[/img]
The plan however had always been to revisit the modern track at some point and give it a top-to-bottom overhaul, as the original was produced quite early on and it was based off a fairly rough mesh to begin with; we knew we wanted to do the track proper justice in AMS2; The reform to the real track earlier this year along with the renewal of our licensing agreement presenting an opportunity for fresh scan data, this seemed like the right time to tackle the Green Hell again.
[/img]
Just like the 1971 project back in 2023, the 2025 overhaul proved especially laborious given the size of the track and the sheer amount of details in and around it; once again however our track team couldnt help but go the distance, which result hopefully you all can get a sense for in the previews here.
The project basically covers two fronts, with the 2020 layouts from the original Nrburgring Pack receiving all the main terrain 3D mesh updates as well as some of the artwork development the 2020 track update will be free to everyone who already own the original DLC; Nrburgring 2025 featuring all the latest renovations done to the facility as well as the complete art overhaul in turn will be sold as its own standalone DLC for US$ 7.99 or the equivalent regional conversion.
[/img]
Two things that wont make this release but that are still planned for subsequent updates for the track and the game are a "joker" shortcut" to skip the out lap, and a Tourist layout option so the track can be experiecend as it is by those visiting it in real life
Check this post in our forum to learn more about the differences between the 2020 & 2025 versions of the track.
[/img]
We are currently in the process of performing various Multiplayer code structural improvements & corrections which hopefully will further improve reliability of MP sessions in AMS2.
Stage 1 of this overhaul will already be integrated into the next release, and they include fixes for at least one known cause of sessions getting stuck in transition, and an optimized packet transfer during either host migration and / or around the end of a MP sessions, both of which should greatly reduce chances of mass disconnections or mass lags in either scenarios.
Further development may be expected follow on this front over the next few months.
For the complete changelog for other developments in V1.6.6 check this post.

[previewyoutube=lqSdhaQboqk;full][/previewyoutube] AMS2 is now updated to V1.6.4.3; this is a complementary update to the latest release with some further improvements & fixes. As of this update, the Super Trophy Trucks class and its dedicated track layouts are available only to users who own the DLC or one of the packages that include it. Beyond improvements to the new STT content, the wet & all weather tire treads have received further revisions; GTP tire compound wear rates have been revised and so have their thermodynamic properties, with compounds now having both generally narrower optimal temperature windows, demanding more energy to ramp up temperatures and offering worse performance while outside of this optimal ranges.GT4 & G55 Supercup thermodynamics were adjusted in the opposite direction, building up temperatures slightly faster and with slightly better performance during the progression. AI cold tire calibration for these classes have been adjusted to suit these latest updates, with further cold tire calibration improments also for other prototype & GT classes. Other AI improvements include a redo of AI lines at Daytona and further adjustments to AI lateral movement rates in particular for GT cars where they could still move very violently causing frequent losing of control. Stock Cars & Super V8 oval variant which were still to receive their V1.6 physics revisions have now been brought up to standard.
Automobilista 2 V1.6.4.2 is now live - this update introduces Super Trophy Trucks with the new Adrenaline Pt2 DLC along with several other fixes and improvements.
Adrenaline Pt2 is available for purchase here, but as is customary it will remain free for all users over the next couple of days.
If by any chance you encounter issues with this build, the previous V1.6.3.6 remains available as a Beta Branch on Steam ("previousbuild")
As part of a series of optimization measures taken for this update, the physics engine now runs on four CPU threads by default instead of the previous default of two; this however might not be a net positive for users running substantially older systems, if that is your case you may revert to the old standard by running the command line -pthreads 2
Greetings Everyone! We have a new update incoming for AMS2, and as hinted upon on the run-up to V1.6 release late last year our dev updates will now be focused on covering the highlights of these upcoming releases, which you should be able to check out for yourself very soon! So here are some of the highlights of the upcoming AMS2 V1.6.4 to be deployed in time for the weekend!
A few more issues in need of quick fixing (or at least further mitigation) have been brought up to attention since the last update so we have extended the cycle for one more round of fixes & improvements as AMS2 V1.6.3.6 is now Live.
Automobilista 2 is now updated to V1.6.3.5 is now live - this update completes the V1.6 cycle with further bug fixes & adjustments and should be the the last of the V1.6.3 cycle.
If by any chance you encounter issues with this build, the previous V1.6.3.4 is available as a Beta Branch on Steam ("previousbuild")
Focus over these initial weeks of the year has been on pursuing further bug fixes as well as further improving or fixing issues with existing content; two long-standing bugs that we expect to be resolved as of this build is the occasional drivetrain / tire "jolt" along with a FFB spike that could occur with some cars during upshifts(most typically seen in cars prone to sustaining long power drifts like F-Vintages and Caterhams); the occasional loss of steering rotation / driver arm animation fidelity during replays is also expected to be corrected.
In terms of content updates, on the track front the Spielberg circuits (both modern & historic) have been updated to feature 3D foliage and generally more recent art quality standards - maintenance of older content originally produced for AMS1 (both car and track models / textures) so quality standards are more consistent with the latest AMS2 content is going to be occur regularly throughout the cycles in 2025.
Physics & AI for the karts, Superkart & F-USA oval variants (which hadnt quite received their full revisions by the time of V1.6 release) have now been completely revised and are largely up to V1.6 standard. A manual setup reset is strongly recommended for these classes.
Many other classes have received further minor physics & setup finetuning as we wrap all V1.6 physics revisions.
Full V1.6.3.5 changelog below:
AMS 2 is now updated to V1.6.3.4, with further bug fixes along with general content fixes & improvements.
The first complementary update post V1.6.3 release is out, with AMS2 now updated to V1.6.3.1. This update fixes some bugs we have been able to trace and resolve since release along with various minor improvements, such as a more accurate metallic for the mainAlpine A424 livery. This is a major game-changing update that transforms AMS2 in multiple Racing Simulators - all packaged into just one. One of these is the IMSA WeatherTech Sportscars Championship, featuring the vast majority of cars, liveries and circuits that made up the 2024 Season of one of the most prestigious Endurance series in the World, with more to come! The new update also features a completely overhauled UI, four new free cars, overhauled sounds, physics, AI & Multiplayer along with extensive updates to all existing content.
Greetings everyone! Its already September 18, and Summer (or Winter those of us down South) has just ended - time sure seems to fly when youre overhauling a game from top to bottom! In our last update back in May, we had hoped to share more about AMS2 V1.6 over its development during the months in between, however the nature of this update combined with the sheer amount of third-party IP it involved meant there was little concrete information to actually share; such have been the demands in putting it all together that we had to get our head down and focus 100% on delivering the update, leaving the writing about it for later. Weve now close enough to release that we can start sharing a little more - and do we have exciting news ot share! So much in fact that we are going to break this into two Dev Updates, with a third part to come later. While IMSA and everything surrounding it (as well as some tidbits that arent) are the heart and soul of AMS2 V1.6 along with an overhauled UI that significantly changes how AMS2 huge content collection is packaged and presented, this Pt2 will focus instead on the key developments made to the game as you know it - these include improvements in physics, AI, multiplayer, audio, graphics, gameplay, simulation features, in sum everything that makes V1.6 a significant leap in terms of sheer sim racing value, which ultimately is crucial for all the exciting new content to be of actual value.. Buckle up then and lets dive into some of the changes that will transform the AMS2 experience as you know it!
Greetings everyone! As announced in our previous catch-up in March, the team have since been completely immersed in the work for what is promising to be the biggest AMS2 update yet as with previous milestone updates, V1.6 will introduce major developments to every front of the game, the collective effect of which to constitute a leap that should surmount event that of V1.5 last year the game will look, sound, feel and race better than ever, wrapped by a completely overhauled user interface and boosted by some of the coolest premium content we have ever worked on. The depth of the changes in AMS2 V1.6 is such that we couldnt possibly cover it all within a single dev update given we are still several weeks away from its release, we will instead break the news in parts to give everyone the chance to digest all the features and content incoming with this update. Please keep in mind the above in case you dont see news you were most looking forward to just yet there is plenty more about the V1.6 update to cover beyond what you will read in this Dev Update.
This should be the last complementary update to wrap up this dev cycle version still reading v1.5.6.1 in UI by mistake but build is 2583 is the latest v1.5.6.2 build just deployed).
Along with the usual long list for general fixes & improvements, the new update adds the new Brazilian Stock Car 2024 season & a completely overhauled F-Ultimate Gen2.
As indicated in the 2024 March Dev Update, both the F-Ultimate Gen2 and the Stock Car 2024 already feature the V1.6 tire physics developments with adjusted hysteresis (but only partially revised thermodynamics & wear) - generally speaking the updates tires should feel slightly "sharper" and less tolerant to sliding than previously.
Both classes feature their 2024 respective DRS and Push-to-Pass rule updates, with DRS being allowed after lap 1 for the F-Ultimate Gen2 while the Stock Cars feature a higher number of shorter P2P boosts with no activation delay.
Still on the content front, following popular demand the Betonschleife (aka "concrete circuit") has been added as an option for the Historic Nrburgring , part of the Nrburgring DLC pack.
AMS2 V1.5.6 also features a much improved water shader & 3D trees added near trackside for several circuits and visible dust clouds from cars running over dirtier parts of the track, all components of the visual updates in progress for the V1.6 milestone update a few months from now.
A note of appreciation and apologies to livery modders such as @KRRTDustin, @TomLehockySVK and others in the community who had done great work with the old F-Ultimate Gen2 model that has now been retired - although we couldnt justify retaining the old model given the lack of actual differences in specifications and inferior quality relative to more recent releases, it wasnt a decision made without consideration and heartache for the impact it would have on your livery packs. We hope you find the much improved 3D model to be worth the trouble and that it proves a lot more fun to work with moving forward!
Greetings everyone! We are approaching the fourth anniversary since the initial AMS2 Early Access release on Steam - and what a roller coaster these four years have been! Some lows along the way but many highs, with the overall trajectory firmly pointing upwards and leading to our highest peak right after our last catch-up in December. Great timing then to go over some of the developments weve been putting together for 2024 - developments which we are confident will see AMS2 rising to a whole new atmospheric layer. Most of the team has been working on major new features and some exciting content due to arrive with our next milestone update - Automobilista 2 V1.6 is expected to come sometime in the Summer (or Winter for those of us in the Southern hemisphere) - this will be in many ways the biggest & more important update to AMS2 yet. We do have a smaller V1.5.6 update to deliver before that however, including some cool content updates and new valuable developments, which we hope to deploy before the end of the month. Lets get into it then for a preview of whats coming not only for this upcoming release but also a glimpse into the big one a few more months down the line!
