A lot has happened since the Kickstarter launched, including lots of daily reveals, information about features and surprise additions and heres a brief overview of some of them! But before we get into this, we want to showcase our latest addition to Worms: The Board Game... Professor Worminkle from Worms 4: Mayhem!

Alongside this daily reveal, here's more information around Worms: The Board games newest features:

Sound Effects & Timer App

A highly requested item from the community during the Kickstarter as been on incorporating the familiar speech and sound effects from in-game. Well, full details are still be confirmed, but there are now plans to include a range of audio to really bring your tabletop experience to life! To put everything in the same place, plans also include a game-style countdown timer for those who want to play with some added pressure, and the hilarity of watching your opponents make silly mistakes as the seconds tick down...

Closer Look: Sentry Guns

Sentry Guns are a little more complex than most other weapons, so come with the card shown below, a reference card, and tokens for deploying on the map. Represented by a token, Sentry Guns count as a 'Thing' (for the purposes of filling a hex) and are immovable once deployed. If they take damage, they are destroyed. How do they work? Sentry Gun tokens are marked with an arrow, so when deployed they face out of one side of their hex (their facing cannot be changed). If a Thing moves to a hex within the Sentry Gun's line of fire, it is damaged. This is an excellent way of restricting your opponent's ability to position well as they must deal with the Sentry Gun first, or restrict their (safe) movement in the meantime. Just beware that the Sentry Gun doesn't discriminate between friendly and enemy Worms entering its line of fire, so make sure to have a plan before you deploy one!

Let's Talk Superweapons

For those of you who don't know, these are rare and powerful weapons that can be used to press home an advantage or turn the tide if your team of Worms are in a desperate situation. They can have a big impact if used well, but expect plenty of laughter from your opponents if you make a bad call and something backfires! These weapon cards have a yellow header so you instantly know you've picked up something special from a crate...now make sure to keep a straight face. There are a good range of these cards, from today's Buffalo of Lies to the Concrete Donkey (Hee-Haw!), the Holy Hand Grenade (Halleluja!), the Priceless Vase...and more. There are enough in the deck to give you plenty of variety, but few enough that you'll get a thrill when you draw one.

Timeline

The team want to extend their thanks to the 4,500+ backers to the project so far and are so excited the most iconic of wriggly critters will battle away on tables around the world. The plan is for pledges to be delivered in August 2024 - however, the exact timing may change and there is always the potential for delay with any products produced in China. Backers will be kept updated through the process.

Q&A With Our Sculptor: Luigi Terzi

Hi Luigi! Tell us a little about your background in sculpting. I started sculpting 10 years ago, but first started out in graphic design. After working with legendary game designer Alessio Cavatore I asked if he knew anyone searching for an illustrator and a sculptor, and thats how I came to meet Ronnie and his team at Mantic Games! Through the years I have done work for Warlord Games, Modiphius, Fantasy Flight, Steamforged, Wyrd, & Wizkids. I have also sculpted large-scale models for companies like Sideshow and Figurama. How did you feel when asked to work on Worms? My very first thought was thats going to be a lot of fun, and it has been! Are you a fan of the Worms video games? I played them a lot before raising a family. Back then I also loved Wipeout, Tekken and Colin McRae Rally so maybe you can guess my age from this list! What are the challenges with sculpting these characters? The most difficult thing is making the Worms look like they have paused mid-action! They have to be very expressive. Its all about combining fun facial expressions with a cool pose that works. Finally, they need to have enough variety so they will look great together on the tabletop. What was the best thing about this project? Having the chance to do something totally different from anything else Ive worked on! Working with different design styles really helps to keep my creativity fresh. Do you have a favourite worm that youve sculpted for the campaign? Do I have to pick just one? I have a few, my top 3 are: the worm with a sheep, the worm with a vase, and (*spoiler alert*) at first place is the disco worm he looks fantastic!

Worms Rumble Is Now Available on Steam!

Hey everyone! Worms Rumble has just landed here on Steam and is available to purchase, download and play! Don your jet pack and thrust yourself into the first ever real time Worms game! 3 Modes

Take on the battle royale mode in Last Worm Standing or with 2 friends in the Squads mode. If that's not your cup of tea you can roll into the death match mode and hone your skills whilst respawning straight back into the action if you stand too close to a blossoming banana bomb.

32 player transforming maps

As of launch there are 3 maps designed full of funny references, iconic landmarks and strategic areas to get the upper hand on opponents. The maps can also have the chance to transform mid way through the battle with missile launches and even portals opening to shake up the match.

Equip a whole host of powerful classic and new weaponry!

Wield classic weaponry from the Worms series, like the devastating holy hand grenade and also equip yourself with completely new guns like the projectile bouncing plasma launcher.

Customise your worm to the max

Don't look like a basic worm... well actually you can but if you want to really get ahead on the worm walkway then there's so many options open to you! Felt like a dinosaur on the outside but on the inside you were worm... don't worry we've got the outfit for that! Plus, match many accessories to get a completely custom look. You will get xp in the matches to unlock new tiers of outfits and customisations to how you are presented in the game!

Don't wriggle around the maps

In Worms Rumble, movement is key! Roll around the map to speed up and also scale walls with extra jumps but be careful as you'll need to carefully manage your stamina! Also, find classic equipment to give you an extra edge like the jetpack and utility belt which can take you to the skies!

Come up with unique ways to play and gain the edge

Come up with unique tactics to gain the edge on your enemies whether that be returning a foes rocket with your baseball bat or shielding a teammate to be revived and become the 'Last Worm Standing'

Worms Rumble - Launching December & Open Beta November 6th!

Hey everyone Were super excited to share with you that Worms Rumble will be launching on Steam this December! Worms Rumble is the next instalment in the Worms franchise! For the first time ever in a Worms game youll be able to jump into intense, real-time battles with upto 32-players! You can squad up with friends or fight solo in different game modes from Deathmatch to Last Worm Standing. Worms Rumble will feature a variety of fan-favourite weapons from past games as well as new additions to the franchise for you to get your wormy hands on! New Mobility Gadgets

Mobility tools play a huge part in any Worms game and today were revealing two of these tools that will be available in Worms Rumble for you to swing and soar through the skies with. (Yes, for those wondering, theres more.) As we all know, the ability to move around the map in a quick and stylish fashion is a key Worms feature and thats no different in Rumble, so lets take a look at what youll be getting to grips with: The Grappling Gun A close cousin of the Ninja Rope, the Grappling Gun rewards skillful worms with unrivaled mobility and speed, allowing you to swiftly navigate through the map, change your momentum and even access hard to reach locations.

Worms that become comfortable with this tool will also find many useful applications for the Grappling Gun during a firefight too The Jetpack The classic Jetpack is back and ready to take your worm to the skies! This tool is perfect for use in open spaces and larger rooms, giving you the ability to rain down destruction from above or fly above the carnage of an enemy Banana Bomb.

Perfect for ambushing enemies from above or quickly escaping a losing battle, Jetpack users should be aware that whilst highly mobile they are vulnerable to precision weapons whilst hovering, so unless youre wanting to visit the respawn screen try and avoid that! Bonus mobility move - Rocket Jumping! Yes, for the first time ever youll be able to rocket jump in Worms (without ending your turn anyway!). This high risk - high reward technique speaks for itself, so well leave it to you, our brave players, to figure that one out in battle

One of the biggest events in the gaming calendar, The Game Awards, is fast approaching and were extremely proud to see that not just one but TWO Team17 releases have been nominated for awards this year! First up, chaotic co-op cooking game Overcooked! 2 has been nominated for Best Family Game, while pinball-Metroidvania Yokus Island Express is up for Best Debut Indie Game! It means so much to the hard-working people at the Team17 studio, as well as our Games Label partners at Ghost Town Games and Villa Gorilla to be recognised in these categories, but wed be over the moon if they won. Maybe were biased, but we think they deserve it! How you can help! The Game Awards winners are decided by a mix of independent judges and fan votes, and in the case of Best Debut Indie Game in which Yokus Island Express is running the category is 100% decided by fans. We want to spread the word about these two great games and encourage more people to play them, and we cant do it without you! An update to Worms Clan Wars has been released. The update will be applied automatically. This will update your game to show version number #0167 in the Main Menu. This patch is 33.0MB. This update includes: • Fixed an issue where players could create an infinite stream of water • Fixed an issue where players with 2D backgrounds playing against players with 3D backgrounds was causing a minor desync in online play. • Fixed an issue where a heavy explosion was causing a minor desync in online play. • Pre-order customisation assets are now appearing correctly lit. Worms Clan Wars Update - 24/10/13

An update to Worms Clan Wars has been released. The update will be applied automatically. This will update your game to show version number #0147 in the Main Menu. This patch is 174.2MB. This update includes: • Optimised physics calculations to reduce load on CPU • Optimised shaders throughout the game • Improved performance on Intel-based graphics cards • Multiple changes and improvements to the single player Story experience • Improved AI thinking time as a result of player feedback • Fixed an issue where lobbies with multiple rounds was causing an issue with matchmaking • Fixed an issue where accepting an invite could result in being placed into an empty lobby • Players can now choose to zoom smoothly with the mouse wheel, rather than step through three levels of zoom • Players can now view Player Stats in local multiplayer games during a guest or AI turn • Fixed a rare issue where clan and community points weren't been recorded correctly • Fixed an exploit where a certain weapon could allow use of weapons in retreat time • Ninja Rope will now attach correctly to cavern borders • Changed shock range and damage cap for the Cluster Bomb • Parachute can now be deployed from a Jetpack • Worm Charm can now be toggled between states on the jetpack • Changes to the way Worm Charm works. Dropping a Worm Charm now no longer ends a turn. • Dropping a secondary weapon from the Aqua Pack no longer ends the turn • Fixed an issue where having [Caps Lock] engaged resulted in shift symbols being displayed • Worms Firepunching into indestructible terrain will no longer become stuck in it • Turn timer no longer stays on zero after using the teleport gun and equipping another weapon • Grenade launched from a utility is now fired using the [Enter] key • Hangman's hat no longer acts as a moustache

New 2D background option - The new option allows users with frame rate issues to switch from using a 3D background to a 2D background. To switch over select Help & Options > Settings > Game Options > 3d Background
Landscape Editor improvements. Fixes for a stability issues when using the fill tool and when resizing brushes

Worms Clan Wars Update - 30/09/13

An update to Worms Clan Wars has been released. The update will be applied automatically. This will update your game to show version number #0121 in the Main Menu. This update includes a number of major optimisations and adds support for the Speech Bank Editor.

Optimized rendering of font and HUD elements
Optimized and reduced overall texture and geometry memory needs.
Optimized OpenGL utilization.
Fixed a number of GPU memory corruption issues.
Improved asset and resource management and loading times.
Optimized sprite rendering

Apologies for the large download size. We have had to modify the base resources, which means the new assets have be downloaded in a patch.
