Release Day!

Astervoid 2000 has been released on Steam! We'd like to thank everyone for their support while we launched this game. Also a big thanks for those that have already covered the game by writting a review, streaming on Twitch, or posting a Let's Play to YouTube. This game is our love letter to couch multiplayer gaming. It's the way we enjoy games the most, sitting side by side screaming at the screen and each other. Enjoy! Chuck & Justin

Happy Tuesday! Build 2055 is go

So what's new? - New songs - Achievements! - A few new environments - Bots no longer kill each other - Bots don't get as close to each other so they're harder to take down - When a player takes the lead in versus, there's a new sound for that - Team score are aggregated together, and all players on a team will indicate when they've taken the lead - New music when a game is over, different tunes for both Versus and Survival - Megasplosives all have a consistent radius / effect, no more randomly wondering how big an explosion will be - Sparks fly off ships that have entered into critical mode - Every ship you destroy in Versus is shown at the end on the score screen - Updated gamepad & keyboard instructions, and you can now disable them entirely from Settings - Bugfix: Sometimes bots would stop spawning in Survival mode. Not anymore! You can now play on forever (and ever) - Bugfix: If a player's shield was down when they mélee, don't reactive it right away when they exit melee And a bunch of other goodies. Happy space brawlin' !

Leaderboards Reset, Artwork Sound Tweaks

While we're in beta, we're going to be clearing the leaderboads every now and then. And then, finally once again on Nov 25th (release day). This is normal. Score amounts per game may change as we tweak things here and there. Also, new silvery-chrome artwork for the AI bots is in for Survival mode, and a less bass-punchy projectile sound (it was too overwhelming on some stereos in 3 and 4-player match-ups).

Survival Leaderboards Now Live (Singleplayer)

Leaderboards are now a thing. When you finish a Survival game, you will see the top 5 in the lead as well as the other scores near you, and where you placed. We call this, "online multiplayer" ;) Charged-up missile graphics now match their hitbox. No more seeing a giant frickin' missile beam that cuts right through a player and let's them live. Justin tweaks the AI boosting a bit, so it's a little less insane. But, it may be a bit easier because of this. Let us know if those suckers are just too easy to pick off! A few other particle system & audio touch-ups, cuz that's how we do. Oh, and if you want to increase performance but decrease "prettiness" you can now turn off the camera image effects in the Settings menu. Happy space brawlin' !
(Ignore the 3.5 million score, that was just from testing) :D

Halloween Update! Better Survival, Sounds, Menus, Game. Yes, better game

- New Announcer voice clips for Survival & Team Deathmatch game modes. Announced by yours truly - Survival mode's scoring is more fun. Much more fun. Your score is now based on how quickly you dispatched of them bots. So do it fast, space brawler - New gorgeous high-res backgrounds. Pixels were chosen and placed carefully by Lachlan Cartland - Less "crazyass" bass on explosions (seriously, that's what the Git commit msg said) - Some sound effects were hurting ears, especially UI ones. That's no longer the case, so leave your ear plugs at home - Simplified start / menu, since those old perspective ships were old and no longer in the game - Better object pooling. This helps performance, uses more RAM but less CPU and slowdowns while you're trying to muss each other up (in space) - Warship now shows up at random times, because who likes a predictable warship? (Answer: no one) - Reflective icy asteroids only crumble and break down into smaller reflective icy asteroids, and life made sense again ps. There's nothing Halloweeny in our game. So if you came here for that, you may be sorely let down.

Astervoid 2000 is a local-multiplayer space brawler. Inspired by the days of classic arcade gaming, but with that modern gameplay feel.

Survive solo or team up to play a main role in your enemies destruction. Dodge asteroid storms, blast across the void of space and take advantage of destroying freighter ships to catch your foe in massive explosive bursts.

Weapons, ships, environmental hazards and backgrounds are all lovingly crafted pixel art.

Quick to learn, challenging to perfect. Knowing when to charge your shot, employ the fireball melée or discharge canons from a safe distance is half the battle.
War with your friends at parties, or when you're simply chilling on a Friday night.

* This game is best experienced with 1 - 4 dual analog stick gamepads

Controls:

Left analog stick to move
Right analog stick to aim
Right bumpers (R1 or R2) to shoot, charge missile attack
Left bumpers (L1 or L2) to boost, unleash fireball melee after charging
