Nimbatus 1.1 Update

Dear Drone Engineers, We just released a new update! We looked through all the features that you suggested and upvoted in our forumsand picked the ones that we liked most and were within our time limit. The two most notable changes are the new multiselection feature that let's you select and edit multiple drone parts at once by pressing CTRL. New 1.1.0 Update on the Preview Branch

Dear Drone Engineers, We just released a preview build of the 1.1.0 update for Nimbatus. It would be awesome if you could test this build and report any bugs you can find! We looked over all suggestions posted here https://strayfawnstudio.com/community/index.php?/forum/96-11-update-feature-requests/ and picked the features that have the most upvotes and match the time scope and theme of this update the best. The two new drone parts: wheels and grappling hook, need to be tested in the brawl / race and sumo mode so we can decide if we can allow those parts or if we have to ban them for the competitive modes. For that we've created a separate drone pool for this preview version. So please play the competitive modes using the new parts and give us your feedback!

Dear Drone Engineers, Thanks alot for reporting all the Bugs! We just released the 1.0.8 hotfix to fix the main bugs you've reported over the weekend.

Improvements


  • Added the possibility to import drones from files for the programmer captain
  • Programmer captain doesnt receive useless mother ship upgrades as rewards anymore
  • Updated Credits

Fixes


  • Fixed bug where no save files where shown, even after starting a new game
  • Fixed crash when flying on planets, was related to minimap memory usage
  • Fixed hull repair cost not updating correctly in sandbox mode
  • Fixed mothership upgrade rewards of lower level downgrading your upgrade level
  • Fixed hammerhead not spawning in destroy hammerhead at core mission
  • Fixed cryotank mission where the mission target would be the broken container instead of the tank. Also removed colliders of broken container.
  • Fixed being able to use more weapons than you actually have at weapon casino
  • Made boom-bug queens return to the planet if they fly too far away from the planet, so they don't get lost in space.

  • Adjusted spawn location of fossils to be further away from the core
  • Adjusted terrain strength of all planets to make digging easier with upgraded weapons
  • Balanced difficulty of destroy pirates mines missions
  • UI: new icon for enable / disable borders
  • Added fail-safe to corp fracking mission, towers destroy themselves when they fly too far away
  • Balanced firefly mission, gave fireflies better swarming behavior
  • New visuals for test drive enemy spawners

  • New Drone is now also correctly localized
  • Added better localization for random weapon names
  • Fixed resource gathering tutorial counting as completed when you died
  • Added gravity and air resistance indicators when on planets
  • Fixed bug where the game crashed when exiting the test simulation

Ice Planet Update

Dear Drone Engineers, We just released a new Nimbatus Update containing new Ice Planets, a new Introduction for the Survival Mode, Steam Achievements and much more! Check out the Patchnotes for a full list of changes. We have translated the game into more languages with the help of our players!French, German, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Polish, Brazilian Portuguese, Russian, Spanish and Turkishare almost completely translated.Czech, Dutch and Finnish are not ready yet and will be added in a future update depending on the translation progress. If you find text errors or spelling mistakes, please head over to our Crowdin page and suggest a better translation! If you want to help translate Nimbatus into another language please write us a message or post in our forum! We plan to release the full version of Nimbatus in about a month! For this we'd like to fix as many bugs as possible. If you have any crashes or find bugs, please report them in our forumor on our discord.

  • Lava Bomber deals 250 damage instead of 600, in 23mradius instead of 30m
  • Lava Cores heat drone parts up by 40C instead of 50C per second
  • Heat capacitor has more health and heats by 5Cinstead of 10Cper second
  • Cryo Pod has more health
  • Lowered the amount of Lava Bomber hives to destroy on easy difficulty

Dear Drone Engineers, We just released the 0.8.4 hotfix to resolve a critical bug in the fuel / energy management:

  • The fuel and energy management was not working as intended since the last update. It was possible to use an unlimited amount of thrusters with just one small fuel tank. This is fixed now.

New Campaign Update (0.7.3)

Dear Drone Engineers, After a month of testing and improving, we finallyreleased the newCampaign Updateon Steam! At its core this update is all about the new campaign mode. It features different captains, progression through unlocking drone parts, travel events, asteroid fields, drone skins and much more :)
The old savefiles are no longer compatible with this version. However, all drones from older savefiles will be imported automatically and should be available to use in the competitive and creative mode. Thanks again to all testers of the preview version for all the great feedback and bug reports! Here are the patchnotes of the new update:

New Features


  • Split the game into 3 different modes: Competitive, Campaign and Creative
  • New Campaign Mode withnew progression system, different captains, travel events,new locations and rewards
  • New Creative Mode with different settings to changethe gameplay
  • New shared drone list for creative and competitive mode
  • Added in-place replace functionality for drone parts (hold alt when dragging item over another)
  • Added multiple gravity and air resistance modes to the test drive
  • Added Kickstarter backers to the credits
  • Added planet names from Kickstarter backers to the game
  • The minimap now has a dynamic planet display
  • Added live weapon previews to tooltips
  • Added drone skins as setting for basic parts

New Drone Parts:


  • Piston that can be extended and retracted
  • Small magnet, small and easyto use but not as configurable as the big magnet

Drone Part Changes:


  • Changed the look of the Magnet, so it matched itscollider
  • Added the option to choose a Drone Skin for the basic parts
  • Spikes now cause damage on impact rather than continuous damage on contact
  • There is now only one resource tank which can hold all resources
  • We increased the rate plasma and cryo ammunition change the temperature of enemies
  • Drills now only cause damage whilethey are activated
  • Particle weapons now heat up or cool down enemies faster than other weapon types

Reworks:


  • You can now access the drone hangar directly from the map without having to travel to a location
  • Most missions now have different difficulty levels
  • We balanced the health of the enemies to match the difficulty level of the new campaign mode
  • Enemies now target you if you attack them, even if you are out of range
  • Snake damage changed from 100 to 180. Aggro speed increased by 20%
  • Balanced all weapon-stats
  • A lot of small UI changes, especially for the campaign mode
  • A lot ofsound effect changes and new sound effects
  • Changed the drone import file dialog to use nativedialogues
  • You now only can mine a finite amount of resources from oneplanet, even if you launch multiple drones
  • Lowered health of shipwreck-parts
  • Slightly increased durability of Energy Shield
  • Reduced the burning damage scaling
  • Objects now stop burning after 5 seconds, unless they get heated up again.
  • Increased rate at which fire and cryo ammunition changetemperature
  • Plasma and cryo weapons now increase / lower temperature at the same rate

Bugfixes:


  • Race finish line isno longer detected as obstacle
  • Fixed afterburner collider
  • Proximity and distance sensor overlays no longer stretch the drone image
  • Fixed that some objects did not heat up neighboring objects
  • Fixed small spawning bugs in different missions
  • Fixed bug where hammerheads that havent targeted the player before were faster
  • Stonemantas don't spawn fireflies anymore when they are frozen
  • Fixed placement of resources on lava planet corridor
  • Fixed bug in corp laboratory mission where no laboratory would spawn
  • Fixed drone workshop max diameter not being displayed correctly in racing modes
  • Fixed Continue button collider so it does not overlap with the upload drone checkbox after a Tournament
  • Fixed a bug in the main menu UI that occurred when deleting saves
  • You should no longer be able to print sub dronesinside the terrain and fly underground. The parts break if they spawn inside the terrain.

Engine:


  • Upgraded our engine to Unity 2018.4.3f1

Nimbatus - Early Access Roadmap Update

Dear crew, Here is a short overview on what we are working on and what new features and improvements you can expect in the future.

Next Update: New Campaign Mode


For the next update we are splitting the game into three different modes: Campaign, Sandbox and Competitive Mode. The campaign mode will feature a whole new set of rules and an improved progression system. We are experimenting with part unlocking, deployment costs and travel events for the campaign. However in the sandbox mode you will still be able to build huge drones with all parts unlocked from the start. This is a big update which requires time to develop. As soon as we have something to test, we will open up a preview branch so you can help us find bugs and give us early feedback before the update goes live.

Planned Features and Improvements


There are some features we already promised during our Kickstarter campaign and things we'd like to improve. Those will be added at some point during the Early Access:
  • Ice planets
  • Drone vs. drone combat arena
  • Terrain rovers (wheels, ...)
  • More environmental events & weather
  • Bossfights
  • More Settings for the sandbox mode
  • Localization

We give our best to listen to your feedback and include suggested features or improvements in every update. Dear Drone Engineers We just released a brand new update for Nimbatus: Drone Racing! Lots of things have been added and improved. Most importantly: You can now build racing drones and compete in new modes.

Patchnotes 0.5.10 Early Access

Early Access Roadmap

Dear crew, Here is a short overview on what we are working on and what new features and improvements you can expect in the future:

Next Update: Drone Racing


Our next big update will be all about drone racing! We want to add drone vs. drone racing for fully autonomous drones and also races against the clock with multiple tracks and leaderboards. This is a big update which requires time to develop. As soon as we have something to test, we will open up a preview branch so you can help us find bugs and give us early feedback before the update goes live.

Planned Features and Improvements

We also want to conduct some experiments on how to improve the physic stability for our drones. This could be in form of adding the possibility to interconnect parts with struts or other internal stability improvements.

Patchnotes 0.5.9 Early Access

Hey crew, We just released theupdate 0.5.9 for Nimbatus. We have read through all the reviews and feedback since the release and addressed some of the problems with this patch.Thank you very much for reporting bugs and posting feedback!

New Features:


  • Added 2 new jungle missions to have some more alternatives to the bio barrell mission (you will have the choice to reset the map or continue with the previous one)
  • Added a popup to draw attention to our tutorial (can be skipped)
  • Added zoom using the mouse wheel to the test area and the planets
  • Added new Delay gate
  • Added speed setting for motorized hinges
  • Added full andempty events to resource tanks
  • Added asetting for thestart state of thefactory part (Printed / Not Printed)

Reworks:


  • If the loading of a savegame does not work, we now show the error on screen instead of automatically resetting the progress. If you encounter any errors, please post us a screenshot, restart the game and try again.
  • Changed the galaxy map, so you will encounter lava planets earlier.

Bugfixes:


  • Fixed that Camera Trackers still were displayed on the minimap after being destroyed
  • Fixed that Sumo drones were not correctly added to the opponent pool anymore
  • Fixed that Batteries or Fuel Tanks still provided energy after being decoupled.
  • Fixed that Resource tanks could not be filled-up after being printed by a factory part.
  • Fixed Issue where Impulse Givers were always on after destroyed
  • Fixed that decoupled parts get destroyed if the previous parent of the decoupler was destroyed

Balancing:


  • Increased the difficulty of Sumo Tournament opponents by increasing the number of required wins to be added.
  • Lowered the difficulty of the Bio Barrell mission by improving the spawn rate and decreasing the amount of deadly cannons.
The new start state setting of the factory part was the most upvoted suggestion in our forum, this is why we have added it to the game! Please keep upvoting ideas for new droneparts and features in our forum here: https://strayfawnstudio.com/community/index.php?/forum/4-nimbatus-the-space-drone-constructor/ The difficulty of the planetary missions was not really well balanced, it was too hard for beginners and too easy for advanced players. The starting galaxy should now be a bit easier. We will improve this in the future to make it more challenging and fun to play :) We will now start working on our first big update which will be all about Drone Racing. Patchnotes 0.5.7 Early Access

Hey crew, We just released the update 0.5.7 for Nimbatus. It fixes some problems you found and adds two new logic parts.

New Features:


  • Added NOR Gate
  • Added Triggered Impulse part that acts similar to an impulse giver, but can be triggered by an input key.

Reworks:


  • Added Tooltips for Impulse Givers
  • Editor Settings (Center of Gravity, Tags, etc. ) are now persistent

Balancing:


  • Slowed down the turning speed of the Snake

Bugfixes:


  • Fixed overlapping music while inside Sumo Testarena
  • Fixed floating point input fields on systems that use comma as decimal seperator
  • First launch on Linux systems will now be windowed mode to avoid resolution problems
  • Fixed a display bug for the page control in the drone browser

Closed Alpha Launch

Dear space traveler, We just launched the Nimbatus Closed Alpha! The main goal of the Closed Alpha is to gather feedback and improve the core gameplay. As soon as we are happy with how the game plays, we'll release it on Steam Early Access, where everyone will be able to purchase it. There is no set release date for the Early Access launch yet. We are currently aiming for September 2018, but this is just an estimate. It could eventually take a couple months longer. Access There is currently no way to purchase Closed Alpha access. It is only available for Kickstarter backers, Youtubers/Streamers and the winners of our gif competitions. We plan to run more gif competitions and some give aways in our forums in the near future. Youtubers/Twitch Streamers It is ok to stream/create videos of the Closed Alpha.  However please note that this is a work in progress. Save games might become incompatible and there will be lots of bugs. We set up a Steam branch (called 0.2.4) with the Pre-Alpha version of Nimbatus in case you want to continue playing with your existing save files. Second demo update with drone sharing and new stretch goal

Dear crew,

New demo update


You can now share drones with others. Fight your friend's creations in the sumo arena or share your awesome designs with others by saving the drone into a file. We plan to run a sumo tournament where you can win Steam keys soon. Stay tuned! The new demo also features new drone parts: Dynamite and a Dynamic Thruster. Plus you can now flip selected parts. Nimbatus reached its Kickstarter goal Demo available

Dear space traveler, We are super happy to tell you that Nimbatus has reached its funding goal on Kickstarter :D! And not just that, the first stretch goal, drone races, has also been unlocked already!
There is still plenty of time left for the Kickstarter so let's hope we will reach lots of stretchgoals to make this game cooler than we've ever imagined! Currently we are trying to unlock: Drone VS Drone Combat

Dear space traveler, It seems that our transmission has reached you! After countless hours of construction work, our team has built up a ship. The Nimbatus can’t wait to start its engines and burst off into the vastness of space and into adventure. But what is a ship without a crew?
