[previewyoutube=1xfrB2XRn34;full][/previewyoutube] I've joined up with tinyBuild Games to expand HakJak Studios into a 5 person team and do a complete, official reboot of Bossa Studio's original prototype from 2019. This is a fully re-imagined, re-designed, re-built-from-the-ground-up game! Our ambitious goal: create something that feels a bit like GTA meets Goat Simulator, mixed with roguelites such as Hades--but with pigeons! Hopefully this results in something totally weird and wonderful. Anyways--I'm super excited and just wanted to share the news with everyone that enjoyed Guts and Glory. Believe it or not, Pigeon Sim is going to be even crazier and weirder--and have much better controls ;) I hope you'll check it out and help me spread the word.

Hello everyone! The summer heat is on, and we at tinyBuild wanted to do something to brighten up your day. Today, Guts & Glory is going on a weeklong sale at 67% off. Weve been doing lots of interesting things recently, and I wanted to take the opportunity to highlight some of the things were working on. Specifically, on August 13 (thats next week!) we are launching Kill It With Fire - a physics comedy game about exterminating spiders and burning down your house in the process. Its a very lighthearted game the alphas of which have had 90%+ ratings on Steam. The game is on Pre-Order that allows you to save 10%, or you can simply Wishlist it! We greatly appreciate it. https://store.steampowered.com/app/1179210/Kill_It_With_Fire/

I'm giving away some sexy new hardware from SteelSeries!
Just leave a comment here with a link to one of your favorite Workshop Levels for Guts and Glory and you'll automatically be entered for a chance to win! Hardware bundle includes the SteelSeries:
- Apex M750 Keyboard
- Rival 310 Mouse
- Arctis 5 Headset
- QcK Prism RGB Mousepad
A $360 (USD) value!
A winner will be chosen at random on December 28th and announced here. Free shipping to anyone in the continental U.S. or Canada.
GameSense Lighting FX
I just added the latest GameSense lighting features to Guts and Glory. If you're a CS:GO or Dota 2 player with any SteelSeries RGB hardware, then you're probably familiar with this already. GameSense lighting FX allows specific hardware components to be used as indicators for in-game events, such as health or warnings. In G&G, for example, lights will change gradually from green to red as your health declines. Not sure if your character can take one more arrow? GameSense will give you a good idea. The pic above shows a few of the other events shown by the lighting FX, but you can adjust these behaviors to your liking inside the GameSense app.
Happy Holidays!
EDIT: Feel free to leave the name of the level or other comments with the link to help others discover new content! It doesn't have to be a plain URL :)

AlienFX
The fine folks over at Alienware hooked me up with this awesome laptop so I can build games anywhere! In return I've added AlienFX lighting to Guts and Glory and expanded their SDK for other Unity devs. (I'll post a link to the Unity stuff on my blog, etc. later this week, for those interested.) If you're gaming with an Alienware computer/accessories it will react to different things in the game, like checkpoints and police sirens. Just a fun little bonus feature.
Patch Notes
- Fixed Hat Counter
- Fixed Steam Achievements glitches
- Fixed the 100% Completion Reward in the Halls of Glory (appears in yellow glow area when 30 Achievements are unlocked).
- Removed mouse-based orbit cam when "Orbit Camera" mode is turned off, except when paused.
- Added more Credits

A small update to improve controls and patch bugs until the v1.0 release.
Also, your own personal butler!
Version 1.0 Progress Update
I'm currently working with the awesome people at tinyBuild to do proper Quality Assurance, Optimization, and Console Porting for the huge v1.0 release. Guts and Glory version 1.0 will have a simultaneous release on PC and Consoles this Summer, and will include a TON of new content. This means that the quality of the end product will be much better! However, it also means that the PC version won't be ready in late Spring as I initially planned. Instead, everything will release at the same time, but at better quality. I apologize for the delay, but I really don’t want to half-ass the release from Steam Early Access. The end-result will be worth the wait! In the meantime, I'm working on a couple fun surprises to hold us all over until then....
Vehicle Control Update
Several of the vehicles have been given a major physics and control overhaul! You’ll notice the biggest changes on the ATV, car, truck and motorcycle, and minor adjustments to the other vehicles. They all handle much, much better and still maintain their power and wheel frictions so that they don't break any existing level designs. (Flying vehicles are still undergoing some changes.) Oh, and the Boost works like it’s supposed to now. This should help out with breaking those Leaderboard records too

Bug Fixes
- Fixed bug that caused "Loading" overlay to block menu buttons if Steam Leaderboard update timed out, causing user to force quit application. - Fixed bug that caused Chapel Hill (and a couple other levels) to crash the game on some Macs. - Annnd fixed several boring, little things. (Note: Settings may be reset for some players due to these changes.)
Summon Your Personal Butler!
Also, The Butler ride-along character has now been unlocked for everyone! Simple wear the black Top Hat (won by completing all of John & Jimmys levels), and your personal butler will be summoned. He lives to please, but do be careful hes quite fragile in his old age.
More to come!
Ive also got more surprises in store between now and the big launch day, so stay tuned for update announcements!

Guts, Blood and Gore Settings, New Character, Pedestrian AI, more Blocks, and even a new Hazard in this big update!
Blood, Guts and Gore Settings
Yup, you heard right. I finally added GUTS for all you gore lovers! All characters, including pedestrians, now have bloody guts in their gooey middles.
Annnnnnd Blood/Gore Settings so you can crank it up even more and paint the town red…
…OR you can turn it all OFF, if you’re not into that sort of thing and just want to enjoy all the ragdoll physics hilarity.
The Final Character
Earlier this month, you guys helped me figure out who the 8th and final character should be, and here he is. With absolutely no affiliation with any blockbuster movie whatsoever, meet the HoverBoard-riding “Junior.” Junior is one of the few unlockable contents in the game. Complete any 20 Official Tracks to unlock him. He can be used on any Class B, C, or F tracks! If it’s a Class F track, press the Boost button to get vertical lift.
Pedestrian AI
One of the top requested features has been to add basic artificial intelligence to the pedestrian characters. Now you can set them to stand, wander, or even dance like idiots.
They’re somewhat aware of their surroundings and will attempt to flee from danger and try to avoid falling off of ledges. It’s very basic AI, so they’re still pretty stupid, but entertaining.
Community Track Leaderboards
Community Tracks now have their own leaderboards too. Old scores are not auto-uploaded like the Official Tracks were, so these are clean slates, ready for you to claim your spot at the top as the most glorious player in the world!
Rotating Blocks
I added a few new Blocks under the “Physics Blocks” category. These rotate around their centers and can be rotated and scaled however you wish. Should provide some really interesting level design options for all you creative types out there.
Barrel Launcher
If you’ve ever discovered the Easter Egg level in the game, then you’ve ran into these Donkey Kong-esque bouncing barrels! These are now available in the Level Editor for your sandbox physics entertainment.
Bug Fixes
No update would be complete without some bug fixes. Here’s a brief recap: - Fixed Leaderboards sometimes not appearing after completing a level. - Fixed "Next Track" button sometimes redirecting player to Main Menu when it shouldn't. - Fixed pedestrian hand rigs - Fixed Pedro being unaffected by Acid Fog and some other Hazards + other minor fixes to Pedro and his truck. - Fixed 'Pumpkin Destructible' having no gravity while in Level Editor - Fixed Settings-->General UI navigation issue with controller/keyboard input - Improved Leaderboard update reliability - Blood decal rendering optimizations Special thanks to the handful of dedicated players that have consistently sent me quality bug reports! Very helpful, especially in these later stages of development.
Halloween Items
If you missed the update earlier this month, I also added several new Halloween and Christmas props to the Level Editor. I hope you all enjoy the new update!

Join me for the final Community Vote!
There’s one vehicle type that I’ve received more requests for than any other: a HoverBoard!
At first I didn’t think I could fit this into the game, but now I think I’ve found a way that makes sense. Here's a brief outline: - Use on any track: In Class F (flying) tracks, it would have vertical lift at the press of a button, allowing it to “fly.” - Simple Controls: Drive and steer similar to a bicycle; no funky controls like Larry - Unlock this vehicle by completing any 2-4 Track Groups?? Or just put it in right away like the rest? Think of this as a “first gen” hover board. It won’t be perfect, but it will be funny! The character will have floppy ragdoll physics, flailing his/her arms around, trying to maintain balance while you cruise through the course. It should bring a fun new dynamic to the game, and offers one more vehicle option for all tracks. But the big question is… WHO WILL RIDE THE HOVERBOARD? This is where you come in.
- Should I scan my face and put myself in the game?
- Should I add a big YouTuber personality, like JackSepticEye?
- Should I make this a hipster?
- Or how about a Japanese business man?
- Or an old woman?
- Or………..????
- Aaaaaaah! Help me decide!
Who should ride the HoverBoard?

New Character: Pedro
HUGE Optimization Overhaul!
100+ New Level Editor Items
Halloween & Christmas Props
New AI Vehicles
Orbit Cam, Pause Cam, and In-Game Screenshots
Shift-Click: Multi-Object Editing
Lighting/Time of Day System
New Materials + Physics, including Mud, Snow, and Ice!
25 New Music Tracks
And yes, even more!
This update brings Guts and Glory a big step closer to being finished. Major performance improvements, a new character, and tons of new level creation content—just in time for making holiday levels too!
Pedro Sanchez
Last month, you guys voted on your favorite version of Pedro and here he is! Pedro Sanchez is one of the finest getaway drivers for the Mexican Cartel. His reckless attitude and manly mustache makes him the envy of men and the desire of women. Pedro’s truck “El Toro” has a faster acceleration and higher suspension than the Yang’s car. It can also sustain more damage. However, it has a lower top speed and is much harder to drift (use the emergency brake at high speed). The Voice of Pedro In a future update, Pedro will be voiced by the legendary UberHaxorNova! Coincidentally, he also did the voice for “Pogo Stick Guy” in Happy Wheels. Wuuuuuuut?! For now, however, Pedro is mute.
Orbit Cam
I was finally able to add this long-requested feature and make it work with the “smart cam.” It may need a little more polish, so as usual your feedback is welcome. DEFAULT CONTROLS: Controller: Use right stick. Hold between 0-50% to maintain view angle. Mouse: click-and-drag any button Keyboard: uses legacy controls This finally allows for more vertical level designs to work, and makes it easier to see where those poor passengers end up.
Glory Cam
Now you can pause the game and view the destruction from any angle! Easily rotate around objects in a Matrix-like fashion, or fly around the scene and view anything you wish. DEFAULT CONTROLS: Keyboard & Mouse: Click-and-Drag Mouse to rotate/steer W, A, S, D, Q, E keys to move camera Controller: Right-Stick: rotate/steer D-Pad: pan camera Triggers: move in/out (Left-Stick is still used to navigate menus) When you’re near objects, the camera will rotate around them. When you move the camera away, it can be steered as if you’re flying the camera around the scene.
In-Game Screenshots
Want to share a glorious moment or capture a great video thumbnail? Now it’s easier than ever! Just click the Camera Icon on the pause screen and it will save a screenshot to your documents folder with all UI removed.
LEVEL EDITOR
Tons of new stuff for all you Level Creators out there! Max Complexity Limit increased by 25%! Camera movement speed increased too.
Multi-Object Editing
Now you can edit lots of objects at the same time! Shift-Click to select multiple items Supports: select, move, rotate, delete, cloning, color, material, and option changes. (Scaling not supported.) This feature was tricky to implement, but totally worth it. It makes level building so much faster and enjoyable.
LightBox
Special Items-->LightBox Just drag-and-drop this item anywhere in your scene and select a preset to adjust the overall lighting and atmosphere. 25 different presets! If you make any dark levels, it’s highly recommended that you add some lights too.
Point Lights & Spot Lights
Good lighting can make a mediocre scene look great! Just drag-and-drop them into your scene and select a color option. They’ll activate automatically if the level is dark enough. Point Lights cast light in a radius around them. They’re perfect for general lighting needs. Spot Lights project a circle of light in one direction. Rotate them to get the effect you need. Also, the Level Editor cameras now render all lighting effects as well, so you can preview the final look in realtime (light glow, “god rays”, fog, etc.) Tip: avoid lighting overlaps for best performance
MusicBox
I added a visible trigger radius to the MusicBox when in the Level Editor. Add MusicBoxes along the track to change the music/mood during a track. Auto-Play: If only 1 MusicBox is in the level, it will now auto-play no matter where it’s placed (no triggering needed). Added 20 new Music Tracks, including holiday themed songs. Added 5 new Ambience Sound Tracks, like city sounds and desert winds.
New Materials + Physics
Added 44 new Terrain Textures, including Snow, Ice, and desert Sand sets. These affect wheel friction physics too. Added 6 new Material options for Blocks, each with their own physics and wheel FX: - Earth - Mud - Sandstone - Snow - Ice - Neon Glow (shows during play mode)
100+ New Items!
These are just some of the new items you can find in the Level Editor. Death Fog Causes instant death if any part of the driver touches it. Scales to easily cover large areas. For example, “Don’t touch the lava” type levels. Acid Fog Instantly eats away any portion of any character that touches it. Useful when you want to create smaller, custom hazards. Funny Fog AKA “Bobble Head Maker” Each time a character passes through this volume it makes their head grow larger. xD You can see short previews on my Twitter.
Props (general)
A big assortment of new props under several sub-categories. Includes rubber tires, bowling pins, boxes, garbage, new fence types, wind turbines, new buildings, and more.
Holiday Props A bunch of holiday-themed props, including Halloween and Christmas stuff.
Electronic Road Sign An electronic road sign with a ton of different message options. (Thanks everyone who tweeted me ideas for this!) Prop Vehicles Several new prop vehicles to decorate the track / use for obstacles. Ranging from small to large. Nature New Material options for Rocks (desert, snow, etc.), assorted Grasses, and even Cactuses. (Yes, the cactus spikes can hurt you!) Prop Characters Cardboard cut-out type characters that you can use to quickly make background audiences and on-lookers… or whatever you want. Audiences Buildings-->Special-->Grandstand Easily add a cheering crowd to your levels for extra glory.
New AI Vehicles
The standard AI Cars have been upgraded! They now have an interior, transparent windows, lights, and even a driver! I also added 2 new options: Police Cars and Border Patrol Cars (complete with sirens!)
Added 4 new AI Vehicle Types:
School Bus Cuz why not? Monster Trucks Can also be equipped with Hazards, such as Lasers, Cannons, or Mad Max style spikes and saws! Big Rig Create your own “Clustertruck” inspired levels or just add some very dangerous traffic. Careful waypoint placement and speed settings are key for getting smooth driving out of these due to their large size and towed trailers. Santa Claus The version that’s been drinking too much egg nog….
TECHNICAL STUFF:
Upgraded entire project to Unity Engine 5.6.3 MAJOR optimization overhaul! - More content but smaller application size - Faster load times and higher FPS - Updated shaders and driver plug-ins - Heavily optimized all texture files: smaller build, faster performance, and more compatible with older setups
- FPS Counter now shows Memory stats too
- New Outline shader in Level Editor
- Engine audio no longer cuts out after driver dismount/death
- HUD hidden and Menu minimized when game is paused
- Fixed red handle of Level Editor Gizmo not rendering above some selections
- Optimized all Destructible items even further
- General audio performance optimizations
- Optimized lighting in several Official Tracks
- Increased Yang’s car top speed by 10%
- Increased Landmine and FlipPad trigger heights to be compatible with Pedro’s truck
- Added normal maps to primary characters
- Optimized collision meshes for several buildings and other props.
- AI Car complexity cost increased by 12% to account for interior, driver, lights and new options.
- Improved level load times. (However, Level Editor initial load may take longer due to added content.)
BUG FIXES:
NOTE: This is a major change to the build that affects nearly every part of the application. If you have any troubles with the upgrade, simply do a full un-install and re-install of the game on Steam. (All 3 of my test machines upgraded smoothly, but YMMV.) Most “Bad Access / Null Reference” bugs should be fixed now (error 0x0000005). Fixed Terrain Edit menus/tools not always showing immediately after creating new terrain in a new level. Fixed AI Vehicle options sometimes not loading correctly in QuickPlay Mode. Fixed bugs in Block material physics; changing Block materials now affects wheel friction and FX correctly. Scaling Blocks affects physics correctly as well. Fixed shader errors that caused poor performance on tracks that contained custom road meshes (example: the first Yang track). The “rainbow screen” / “texture glitch” rendering errors on Macs should be fixed, unless your computer is below minimum required specs. Fixed Anti-Aliasing post-process compatibility issues; replaced with simple, fast FXAA system. (Mostly affected Macs, Linux, and older Windows machines.)
Where’s the Guts man??
As I worked on this update, I noticed that the work needed to be divided between Level Editor content and everything else. Since Level Editor stuff takes longer to debug and get feedback on, I decided to focus primarily on that aspect for this update. I also wanted to make sure content was out ASAP for Holiday levels. Next update will feature Guts, Blood Settings, Pedestrian AI, and other top-voted features from last Community Vote.
FEEDBACK WELCOME
As Guts and Glory gets closer to completion, optimization and polish is becoming a higher priority. This update should give the game a massive performance overhaul and make level creation faster and more fun than ever. I’d love to hear what you think about the game after this update

What content should be included in the next major update?
We’re doing things a little differently this time around, see below…. “Vote” now by commenting on this Steam Announcement page. 1.) Select your favorite Character option. 2.) Select the top several Content options you would like to see in the game; help me prioritize feature development! Only 2 Community Vote events remain! For these updates, I will re-prioritize the to-do list based on your feedback. Then I’ll work through these items starting at the top, adding as many new features as I can before it’s time to release a new update. When the next update releases, I’ll update the list and repeat! -------------------------------------------------------------
1.) Character Options:
The Life of Pedro Class C Vehicle: a small pick-up truck The next contestant for the Guts and Glory games will be the legendary Pedro! Pedro has lead quite an interesting life, and spent many miles behind the wheel of his favorite pick-up truck. For this week’s event, you get to decide which version of Pedro will be featured in the game. Should it be Pedro Past, Present, or Future? Let me know in the comments below!
Pedro Past
In his past life, Pedro was a driver for the Mexican cartel. He enjoyed fine cigars, fine woman, and an exciting life. As you can see in the super technical drawing below, this version of Pedro looks confident and he’s smoking a cigar. There are 2-3 cartel thugs in the back, bags of blow, and suitcases full of money. Dollar bills trail behind the vehicle, blowing in the wind. A crash could result in money and snow flying everywhere. Mustache Level: pequeña
Pedro Present
After a recent job went sideways, Pedro finds himself on the run! He gathers up his famila, a few belongings, and makes a run for the border… with the cartel hot on his heels. This version of Pedro is wild-eyed! His caliente wife sits in the passenger seat. His mother and daughter sit in the bed of the truck, along with several belongings, such as suitcases, boxes, and a chicken in a cage. Mustache Level: medio
Pedro Future
Pedro is a made man. He’s established himself in a new country, and now runs an incredibly successful “lawn management company” with some very loyal and well-paid employees. It’s totally legit. Seriously. No, those aren’t guns in the back… those are just weed-eaters. That green stuff in the bags is just lawn clippings, not cash. It’s not what you think it is.... Okay, if you keep asking so many questions we might have to show you the wood-chipper…. Mustache Level: grande -------------------------------------------------------------
2.) Content Options:
Below is a list of feature options in no particular order. Please list the top features you would like to see added to the game, in order of priority. THE LIST:
- Guts
- Blood/Gore Settings: increase, decrease, or turn off
- Desert Theme: textures and props
- Snow and Ice: textures and props
- Time of Day + Lights with color options
- Special FX: fog, dust, smoke, embers, etc.
- More Materials: lava, death fog, transparency, etc.
- AI Vehicle Updates: more types (Mad Max anyone?), updated models, ragdoll drivers
- Level Editor optimization: double level size limit
- Camera Switch: toggle between characters
- Orbit Camera: move mouse to look around; snaps back after you stop
- Community Track Leaderboards

- Zero Gravity Zones
- More Hazards: _________?
- More Special Items: _________?
- More Props: _________?
- Other...?
Not Listed
Trading Cards + More Achievements I plan on adding these on Full Release launch :) More Official Tracks Many more Official Tracks will be added for Full Release! Level Editor Logic / Triggers This is more complicated than I anticipated, but I plan on giving it a try when the game is close to finished, so I don't slow everything else down in the meantime. I want there to be some sort of behavior options available. Mutliplayer I know this is a highly requested feature. However, I must wait until the game is nearly finished before I can give this a try. My first priority is to get the single player experience finished on time. Then I can take a swing at this. Fire, Water, and Replays These are very technical and time-consuming features to implement properly. Rather than make a half-ass implementation, I'm crossing them off the list... perhaps if I make an expansion or 2.0 some day. But right now it's simply too much work to do alone and will slow everything way down. I'm ready to crank out some new content quickly!
Time to hit the boost button on development!

Small patch to fix the following issues:
- Fixed Leaderboard bug that allowed levels to be "finished" without hitting all checkpoints. (Cheat times cleared from Leaderboards.)
- Fixed Leaderboard switch buttons; Leaderboards now correctly filter between Top 10, Friends, and Personal.
- Fixed Zoe's front wheel not spinning.

Today marks the release of the second major update in a series of Community Vote events where you, the amazing Guts and Glory fans, get to vote on the content you want to see in the game!
Zoe Zoom
Class B Vehicle Nobody knows where she came from, but everybody loves her! Zoe Zoom has captured the attention of fans across America, and soon the world! Already famous for her death-defying stunts like jumping a school bus full of children across the Grand Canyon, Zoe is ready to claim her presence on the global stage by entering the Guts and Glory games. In last month's Community Vote #2 event, she won the vote by a huge margin. You guys really love this one! Her stunt bike is built for high speeds, maneuverability, and landing extreme jumps. On flat ground she can reach speeds of over 100 mph with her rocket boost alone! Similar to the bicycle, you can use the Roll buttons to lean extra hard into a turn, rounding corners very sharply at significant speeds, and her shock system can absorb some fairly rough falls. Zoe is ready for any stunts you throw her way!
Steam Leaderboards
Leaderboards are here at last! Compete with your friends for the best track times, or fight for a place in the glorious Global Top 10. Times are tracks to the millisecond, so every move counts. Leaderboards can be sorted by: - Personal Best Time vs Global Rank - Friends vs Friends - Global Top 10 ***** Log In Soon ***** The first time you log into Guts and Glory, your best times for each completed Official Track will be automatically uploaded to the Steam Leaderboards. Leaderboards are currently just set for Official Tracks. Later I might add more boards for Stats / Community Tracks. (There's a limit on the number of leaderboards Steam allows, so this is a little trickier to execute.) Can you beat everyone's best track times?
Mass Destruction
I did a huge optimization pass on all of the destructible items in the game, boosting their performance by as much as 50%! This allowed me to finally add these objects to the Level Editor.
There are now 31 new Destructible Items in the Level Editor! Navigate to Props-->Destructible Items to start using them now and add some more chaos to those Community Tracks. There's a wide variety to choose from, including Glass, Chip Boards, Fences, Dishes, and the classic Wooden Barrel.
Now go forth and build some insane stunts for Zoe!!

THANK YOU FOR VOTING!
By a large margin, here are the winning votes:
Character B: Zoe
Content A: Leaderboards & Destruction
DEVELOPMENT STARTS MONDAY! Like last time, I'll post an announcement as soon as the new content is live! (Some content may be available early in the Beta branch for testing.) ***************************************************************
Earlier this week I also rolled out a small patch:
- Added the "Retro Runner" easter egg level back in! (HINT: the portal to this level hidden in a warehouse)
- Fixed bug that caused music from last scene to keep playing when Player enters a Community Track that doesn't have a Music Box. (Sorry for this annoyance :P)
- Rewards Menu (hats) now auto-scrolls with Keyboard/Controller input.
- Added OBS recording note to Settings-->Visual-->Anti-Aliasing
- Minor audio adjustments

What content should be included in next major update?
“Vote” by commenting on this Steam Announcement page. Select both a Character and Content Option from below! Feel free to comment further on your decision or leave other feedback. The final options chosen will be determined by a mix of the total votes and the content of any discussions created in the comments. Recommending ideas outside the scope of these options should be done in the Suggessions Forum, and may be used in future Community Vote events. The un-used options from each vote might be presented again in a future Community Vote, but no promises.
Final decision will be made on July 21st.

Character Option A:
Dixie Class B Vehicle Dixie met the man of her dreams and was gonna have it all: a double-wide trailer home, seven kids, and a litter of puppies! It was gonna be the perfect life with her perfect man, Earl. But all that ended the day she caught Earl kissin' her sister at the bar! (To this day, Earl still says it wasn't him.) In a fit of rage, she burned that double-wide to the ground, packed up her things, and got a divorce. Now bitter and destitute, Dixie is trying to make ends meet as a moped pizza delivery woman. She wants to enter the Guts and Glory games to get back at her ex and get back on her feet.

Character Option B:
Zoe Class B Vehicle Nobody knows where she came from, but everybody loves her! Zoe Zoom has captured the attention of fans across America, and soon the world! Already famous for her death-defying stunts like jumping a school bus full of children across the Grand Canyon, Zoe is ready to claim her presence on the global stage by entering the Guts and Glory games. -------------------------------------------------------------
Content Option A:
Leaderboards & Destruction Add Steam Leaderboards for both Official Tracks and Community Tracks so you can compete with friends and the entire Guts and Glory community for fastest times. Add Destructible Objects to the Level Editor such as barrels, bottles, glass window panes, TVs, etc. Maybe even add some new ones too! This would also involve optimizing the destruction system so it's more scalable and faster.
Content Option B:
Time of Day & More AI Vehicles Add a Time of Day option to the Level Editor so Community Tracks can be set to Night, Day, Morning, Evening, etc. Add more AI Vehicle prototypes such as pick-up trucks, semi-trailer trucks, and motorcycles. -------------------------------------------------------------
Lowe Norman Designs
The awesome character concept art presented here was provided by up-and-coming artist Lowe Norman from Sweden. I discovered this talented creator on Reddit, seeking to build a portfolio and begin a career. You can reach Lowe at lowenormandesign [at] gmail or on Reddit. Great to work with! -------------------------------------------------------------
Voting ends July 21st (MST)
Mix and match content options if you're not happy with how they're presented and I'll consider that too. For example, maybe you want Leaderboards and Time of Day in the next update, instead of Destructible Objects? Just let me know!

Earlier this month, you guys voted for the new content you wanted to see in Guts and Glory and now it’s here!
This Summer is all about community content. More characters, more hazards, and more awesome Workshop content so you guys can keep making bigger and better Community Tracks. Let's build some glorious new community challenges!
Jack & Jill
Jack and Jill went up a hill… and then they rolled down in pieces. This week Guts and Glory gets a brand new set of Class A characters! Trying to make it to the finish line with sister in tow can be a real challenge… but if you just get tired of her you can disconnect the rope at any time! (Just press the new Eject button once.) Jack and Jill are just two fun-loving kids. Brother and sister, actually. Unlike most siblings, they get along well together (most of the time) and love to go on adventures any chance they get. As long as they’re back home in time for dinner, their parents pretty much let them do anything they want. While getting slushies at their local convenience store, they saw a poster for The Guts and Glory Games and signed up the same day (there’s no age limits, after all). Now they could go on “the ultimate adventure” and win a ton of money! Great idea, right? Jack rides a child’s version of the popular Golden Goose brand of bicycles, and generally tows his sister around in a small “Lil Waggy” brand wagon. They’ve gotten pretty good at doing jumps and stuff, so they're totally ready for this.
EJECT!
At last! You can now manually eject the driver at any time. Just press the “Z” key to launch your character from their seat (“B” button on Xbox controllers | “Circle” button on Playstation controllers). They’ll go flying in whatever direction the top of your vehicle is pointing, so lots of creative level design potential here! If you’re using Jack and Jill, the first press will disconnect the wagon. Second press will eject Jack. I also removed the need for the main character to actually be alive to finish a level. This means you can even complete a track by ejecting yourself across the finish line! What kinds of tracks will you make with this new feature?
AI Vehicles
You asked for it, you got it. AI Vehicles are in the game and they’re even destructible! Like almost everything else in Guts and Glory, these vehicles are physics-based. They’ll be affected by ground traction, wheel slip, collisions, broken parts, etc. They’re currently in an early stage, so the 3D models and textures are basic. After they get battle-tested in this update, I’ll convert to final graphics and add more vehicle types, based on future community votes.
Using AI Vehicles is super simple: 1. Drag-and-drop Vehicle Waypoints. They’ll be auto-connected as you add/delete them. 2. Tweak Waypoint Options. You can set Approach Speed, Stop, or even Chase Player per Waypoint! 3. Drag-and-drop AI Vehicles wherever you want them to start. Anywhere! They will automatically find their closest Waypoint and start following the path.
Each AI Vehicle also has 10 different paint options, to add variety. These simple skins will be replaced by final versions later, and more vehicle types will be added too!
Workshop Content
Tracks can now be bigger! Level Complexity Limit increased by 14% (from 6000 to 7000). I also just finished porting a bunch of content from Larry’s levels over to the Level Editor. You can now make your tracks even more epic with these fine additions:
- 14 new city buildings, ranging from small storefronts to huge skyscrapers
- Laser Turrets, with 4 options
- Reflector Turrets, with 4 options
- SmartBomb Turrets
- AI Vehicles and Waypoints
- Minor prop additions
Kickstarter Reward DLCs
It’s been a long wait, but the first stage of Kickstarter Reward DLCs are finally ready. These include:
- The Wacky Hat Pack: a set of 5 ridiculous hats
- The Golden Prestige Bicycle: behold its shiny glory (applies to Jack’s bike too)
- The Golden Crowns (standard and XL): a symbol of greatness for those who sacrificed their hard-earned coin to help make Guts and Glory even bigger and better!
General Improvements
As usual, I’ve made several other improvements and bug fixes during development. These include: - Did optimization pass on all Official Tracks. Approximately 5-15% performance increases. (Most noticeable on lower-end CPUs.) - Added display numbers above each Checkpoint in Level Editor, for easier editing. - Fixed bug that prevented character from dismounting if they lost both upper/lower limbs on bicycles. - Reduced bicycle Boost burn rate by 33% (ie-boost lasts longer). Pedal faster, longer! - Fixed hat selection menu scaling/aspect ratio issues. - Added an "X" button to Settings window, for navigation clarity. Has same functionality as the "Save and Quit" button. - Changed "Light" to "Eject" in Settings-->Control Mapping menu. Updated Localization accordingly for controller mapping. - Removed need for Player Character to be alive to reach Finish Line. (Can even finish using manual eject.) - Changed version logging system for more accurate future bug report management - Fixed bug that caused player to basically be invincible if he died after crossing finish point and then clicked "next track" button. - [Fixed?] no sound bug when switching tracks, experienced by some players. Community Tracks Menu - Added controller/keyboard auto-scrolling to Community Track and Level Editor menus. - Fixed menu scaling/screen ratios on pause screen pop-up version. - [Fixed?] bug that causes Community Tracks pop-up menu to freeze/become non-interactive for some players. - Added a manual close button, in case auto-close fails
What will you create?
I can’t wait to see what crazy things you guys come up with using all this new Workshop content! Send me a link/level name of your best tracks built primarily for Jack and Jill or the new Eject feature, and I’ll feature them on a future post ːsteamhappyː I'll be posting a new track or two myself sometime soon too!

What content should be included in next major update?
“Vote” by commenting on this Steam Announcement page. Select both a Character and Content Option from below! Feel free to comment further on your decision or leave other feedback. The un-used options from each vote might be presented again in a future Community Vote, but no promises. Final decision will be made on June 1st. -------------------------------------------------------------
Character Option A:
Mom & Daughters Class A Vehicle Guts and Glory is lacking a strong, female lead. This option would fix that. Sure, she might be irresponsible, but damn is she determined to win at all costs! This mother of two was once on her way to being an Olympic Gold Medalist. She had everything going for her until the day she fell in love with a pole vaulter. One night of fun turned into a big surprise when she found out she was pregnant—with twins! The second her lover found out, he jumped the fence and disappeared… just like her Olympic dreams. With the announcement of The Guts and Glory Games, this tiger mom saw her opportunity to rise to greatness once again! But it’s up to you to decide if she will be entered in the competition…. This character rides a Dutch Cargo Bike. Popular in the Netherlands, these interesting vehicles have a box-like compartment on the front, typically used by children / cargo (and sometimes even adults). Obviously, these characters also need good names. Suggestions?
Character Option B:
Jack & Jill Class A Vehicle Jack and Jill are just two fun-loving kids! Jack rides a child’s version of the popular Golden Goose brand of bicycles, and generally tows his sister around in a small wagon, connected by rope. They’ve gotten pretty good at doing jumps and stuff, so they're totally ready for this. -------------------------------------------------------------
Content Option A:
Fire / Lava Things like flamethrower turrets, “ground is lava” (but really), and oil. There are limits to what I can do here, given how the game is constructed. For example, I wouldn’t make trees burn down, or cause a whole forest fire, or other advanced propagation systems. However, I could do simpler systems, like one character catching another on fire, oil slicks catching fire, etc. If a character is covered in too much fire, they will lose health over time until they die. There is no water in the game yet, but I might be able to add fire extinguishers if there is time left.
Content Option B:
AI Traffic Simple AI vehicles that travel on a set path / from waypoint-to-waypoint. This could be used to create traffic patterns the player must drive with/against/across. For example, you could make a ClusterTruck or Frogger type level, or even a make-shift “race.” These could also be used to help bring more life to a level. I already have part of this built in very early prototyping stages, but would need to do a lot more work in order to make it ready for use in the Level Editor. CAST YOUR VOTE BY COMMENTING BELOW! -------------------------------------------------------------
Why the change?
Today marks a special occasion: it’s the first ever “Community Vote” for Guts and Glory. This means you get to help decide what content will be developed next! It’s kind of like a “Choose Your Own Adventure” for game development. Over the next few updates, all Official Track development is being put on hold so I can focus on cranking out more frequently requested content, finishing Kickstarter Rewards, and nurturing the G&G Community. This means you’ll get more Characters, more Hazards, and more Community Content faster than ever before!
If you’re a YouTuber, you’ll also want to take note of this.
The focus for the next couple months will be on Community Tracks, and new Community Content, including new Characters, Hazards, and more! With my old development plan, it was taking far too long to bring you new content—especially highly requested features, like new Characters or finishing Kickstarter rewards. With this new plan, I can bring players more of what they want sooner, and then re-work and finish the Official Tracks as the game gets closer to completion. New Official Tracks, plus the Halls of Glory, will get their “big reveal” during the Full Release of the game. This first Community Vote is an experiment. If lots of people participate, then I’ll continue with the process. Otherwise, I’ll revert to the traditional development system for the remainder of the project and update the Early Access description page accordingly. Spread the word! ------------------------------------------------------------- Guts and Glory also has a Discord server, if you're into that sort of thing. Here's a special little invite, just for you ːsteamhappyː

ACHIEVEMENTS AND STATS
Steam Achievements, Stats, and in-game Rewards have arrived, and even more will be added in the future!
- Added 15 Steam Achievements (11 standard + 4 hidden)
- Added a handful of Steam Stats (local & aggragate global)
- Made Achievement unlocks retroactive where possible (ie-you don't have to re-complete tracks to unlock Rewards; forced level skips do not count)
UNLOCK REWARDS
Each Achievement is linked to an in-game Reward (Hats), so you can show-off your accomplishments with some sweet new headgear, such as these fine examples....
LARRY'S HARDCORE ROCKET CHAIR CHALLENGES
Larry is ready to compete at last. Prepare yourself for some hardcore rocket-powered challenges!
- Added 7 Official Tracks
- Built in a brand new map: Lucid City
Larry Improvements:
- Improved automatic camera rotation issues when vehicle is at extreme angles; general camera and control improvements
- Increased rocket power, for more responsive control
- Increased character's strength; can survive impacts and landings more easily
- New voice audio; Larry finally has a real voice!
- Removed "prototype" status
MOAR GIBS PLZ. OKAY!
Blood and gore FX for major body parts has been improved even more. Added dynamic blood spray when major parts are dismembered, as well as little meat chunks and bone fragments for even more satisfying and bloody damage. Too much? No worries... a setting will be added later for adjusting blood amounts.
NEW HAZARDS
Death Lasers You requested lasers, you got lasers! These deadly red beams will instantly heat any flesh they touch to an exploding point! These don't target the player directly, but instead point in a fixed direction or rotate in a predictible manner.
Reflector Rays These experimental death beams were originally invented by Larry himself, but when he went off the deep end, his brother and arch-nemsis, Harry, stole the credit and the glory. Now Larry's own invention is being used against him! Watch out when you see one of these. They can be reflected up to 100 times off of specific surfaces and shoot 3 times farther than red beams.
Smart Bombs Another product of Larry's genius, these rocket-powered explosives will seek out their target and then lock-on when within range, exploding after a designated time. When you start to see them flash red you better get out the way!
GENERAL IMPROVEMENTS / BUG FIXES
Lots of bug fixes and other improvements, major and minor. Improved Control Mapping system: - Control elements can now be assigned to multiple inputs (click "Add" instead of "Replace" when re-assigned inputs) - UI navigation elements can now be re-assigned as well. Community Track Menu Improvements: - Community Tracks Menu now pops up immediately in-game; removes unnecessary load time. - Fixed bug that caused Community Tracks filter to stop working after using "Change Track" or return arrow buttons from Pause Menu in Community Tracks. - Improved controller/keyboard navigation for the new Community Tracks menu (still needs more work) Other Bug Fixes / Improvements: - Fixed language settings menu bugs - Fixed bug that caused music to restart during respawn, instead of playing continuously. - Removed "Main Menu" button from Pause Menu during Level Editor "Quick Play" mode. - Fixed Chapel Hill terrain bug that caused blood splatter to not show and crashes/missing terrain on some machines. - Replaced custom road shaders with more performant standard shaders. - Minor improvements to "smart cam" predictive movements for all vehicle classes - Added 30+ Hats, which will be linked to new Achievemnts over time. Localization: - Finished adding remaining Level Editor Objects to localization system (ATTN TRANSLATORS: only terms ending in "_ObjectMap" are important; others are optional, since they also have image icons). - Assorted language edits NOTE: Localization updates will be minimal during Early Access, since everything continually changes. Localization will be given a final, major review and update when the game nears completion.
[ 2017-05-19 20:12:49 CET ] [ Original post ]

- Search by Text
- Vote levels up or down
- Add to your Favorites list
- One-click Subscribe/Un-subscribe

Localization Update
Chinese and French translations have been reviewed and improved. Spanish and Turkish human translation improvements will be added soon as too. I'm sorting through some other submissions as well, so please be patient if you do not see your submissions shown in the game right away. All Localization updates sync to the Google server once per week.
Translators
I began adding the Level Editor Categories and Objects to the Localization Document. It's a fairly long list, so it's only about 70% done right now. I marked new text added to the Localization Document in yellow, under the "Key" column. (Items with "_ObjectMap" at the end are the most important. Others have image icons.)
Bug Fixes and Minor Stuff
- Fixed bug that sometimes caused music to stop when returning from Community Tracks. - Fixed some static text that was not getting localized. - Made blood splatter "flat" due to poor gloss reflection issues and artifacts on some graphics cards. - And probably some other little things I didn't write down ːsteammockingː

Guts and Glory is now on SteamOS/Linux
At last! You can play G&G in all it's bloody glory on Linux/SteamOS!! Everything should work as it's supposed to on Ubuntu 12.04+ and SteamOS. This build of the game hasn't been thoroughly tested yet, but several people have already tried it and reported that all is well! I tested it out on my "Steam Machine" and everything is running buttery smooth (physics glitches aside). I have not updated the very latest language-localization changes in this build yet, so be aware that an update is coming for more language support in this build soon. Feel free to leave your feedback in the comments below or on the Steam Community pages!

Guts and Glory is now available in other languages!
Spread the word! It now has human translations for: - Chinese (Simplified) - Chinese (Traditional) - Spanish - French - German And Google Translations for: - Japanese - Korean - Russian - Italian - Turkish (some human edits) - Arabic - Estonian - Portuguese (Brazil) Please visit this post, if you want to help revise the Google Translations so they make more sense, or if you want to add NEW languages to the game!
Live Translations
In addition to static translations, I also added live Google Translations for Community Tracks, so players around the world can share their creations with minimal barriers (requires internet connection, of course). The game should automatically adjust to your computer's system language, but if it does not, just visit the Settings Menu and you can select a language there. *** Please restart the game if you change the language manually. *** Automatic Translation Updates As new human translations / revisions become available, they will automatically sync to the game once per week, as long as you have an internet connection.
Other Minor Changes
- Concrete Pathways (sidewalks) are now the correct scale. You may need to edit any levels you already placed these in. - Fixed FPS Counter on/off toggle when returning to Main Menu. - Removed "Change Track" button from Level Editor's Quick Play mode. - Moved overlapping checkpoints in "The Main Event" level, which seems to be causing a waypoint bug for some users. - Updated Credits List. - Added a MPH / KPH toggle in the Settings Menu
Special Thanks
Thanks to these incredible people for volunteering their time to help with translations: Anjet HSU - Chinese Maxime Riou - French Richter Fabian - German Jake Muller - German Leandro Botella - Spanish Jael Alonso - Spanish And "oyuncu" for some Turkish contributions. THANK YOU!

New Workshop Content
This update is all about adding new content to the Level Editor so you can build even better challenges for people around the world the enjoy! There are a bunch of new outdoor props, including interactive objects like tables, chairs and the classic green recycling bin. There's a fancy new water fountain with animated water, a garden planter, and more construction props which come in really handy. I've also added a couple more vehicle props, including a flatbed truck (with changeable colors) and, by request from several players, a big yellow school bus. The new over-sized Hazards from the Gumsy and Gomar Theme Park levels have also been added. These hazards will automatically change direction when they hit something, so they are more versatile. Unfortunately scaling does not work for these, so they are a one-size-fits-all hazard. And, by request, Flip Pads have been added as well. They come in 3 different strength variations and I'm sure they'll be abused to hell in the Community Tracks xD
Below is a list of new items:
New Special Items: - FlipPads; 3 strength variations New Hazards: - Giant Hammer - Giant Baseball Bat - Giant Blender New Props: - Vehicles: Prop Truck (dynamic; w/ simple color change) - Vehicles: Prop School Bus (dynamic) - Pathways: assortment of modular sidewalk parts (cement) - Industrial: Construction Barrel (dynamic) - Industrial: Construction Barricade (dynamic) - Industrial: Concrete Barricade (static) - Industrial: Metal Support Bars (simple) - Industrial: Control Panel (non-functional; static) - Industrial: Air Conditioning Unit (static) - Industrial: Wooden Crate Large (non-breakable; dynamic) - Industrial: Warehouse Shelf Sets 1-3 (static) - Industrial: Wooden Pallet (non-breakable; dynamic) - Outdoor: Patio Chair (dynamic) - Outdoor: Patio Table (dynamic) - Outdoor: Patio Umbrella (dynamic) - Outdoor: Park Bench (static) - Outdoor: Garbage Bin (static) - Outdoor: Ashtray (static) - Outdoor: Water Fountain Fancy (animated) - Outdoor: Drinking Fountain (static) - Outdoor: Marble Planter (static) - Outdoor: LampPostProp (dynamic) - Outdoor: Recycle Bin (dynamic) - Buildings: Special: Pavillions 1-3 - Buildings: Special: Pillar Dome
ːsteamfacepalmː SIDEWALK WARNING ːsteamsadː By request I also added sidewalks to the editor at the last minute. Unfortunately, I didn't realize that the scaling was off until just now. So if you use these in a level, please be advised that the scale will be reduced in the next update, so it might affect any level that uses them and need adjusted. I'll do my best to avoid that, but please be aware.
Crowd Pleaser
You wanted more pedestrians, you got more pedestrians! I did some minor optimizations and doubled the limit on pedestrians, so you can now place 2 of each character in a level! Even more characters will be allowed in the future, after I do some of the bigger optimization updates. However, it's not recommended to group all of them together as you see here, since low-end machines may experience a brief FPS drop if they all get mooshed at once. ːsteamhappyː Double the pedestrians, double the fun! ːsteammockingː

The Yang Family has finally reached their destination: the Gumsy and Gomar Theme Park!
The final four Yang tracks are now available.
Can you complete Car Parkour in one run? It will put your car driving skills to the test.
WTF is Gumsy and Gomar?
Gumsy and Gomar is the most popular children’s show on television, dedicated to teaching kids about safety—by demonstrating all the things not to do! It’s kind of a parody on Itchy and Scratchy from The Simpsons (big fan!), as well as poking some fun at Five Nights at Freddy’s (not a fan! But hats off to the developer for his success.)
Basically this theme gives me an excuse to add some wackier content like oversized hammers, giant baseball bats and The Blender from the original Yang Family Demo. I received a few requests to add Flip Pads, so I went ahead and built some of those too. All of these new items, plus many more will also be added to the Level Editor in a Workshop update next week! That way people can expand on the theme park by building their own "rides" in the Community Tracks. xD
Music Upgrade
I also upgraded all of the newer music with higher quality tracks and proper looping. It accounts for about half the update size, so I apologize for the larger-than-normal download size... but it's worth it for the better quality.

If you were affected by annoying issues with the new settings system, like fullscreen resets, then this patch is for you!
You may need to reset your Settings after the update.
I just uploaded another small patch that should fix these issues:
- Settings Menu: Fixed Visual button not being interactable with mouse.
- Fixed bug that caused music to sometimes stop when changing levels on some computers.
- Fixed bug that caused full screen to exit when returning to Main Menu on some computers.

Thanks to everyone who sent bug reports concerning the new Settings Menu system! It should be pretty solid now. This small update contains the following changes: Fixed Settings Menu bugs and other improvements:
- -Fixed Shadow Projection type not saving between reloads.
- -Fixed LOD Bias slider not adjusting to quality presets; fixed slider resetting on scene reloads
- -Fixed Global Volume resetting when scene changed
- -Fixed level load cams being reset back to origina on some tracks.
- -Improved Main Menu GUI text clarity
- -Fixed default settings
- -Fixed LOD Bias minimum too low
- -Fixed Auto-resolution/full screen reversion after respawn/new level
- -Fixed shadow cascading bug (caused glitchy/blobby looking shadows)
- -Fixed road shader errors (Yang Track #1)
- -Fixed Boost Meter dissappearing bug
- -Some improvements to video capture compatibility (some OBS issues persist; new settings will be added later to remove post-processing FX that may be interferring; will revisit this issue later)
- -General Qualtiy Presets now change the applicable sub-settings to match
- -Revised Quality Setting presets
- -Escape key now exits the Setting Menu too
- -Improved loading screen checks for reliability on slower machines
- -Improved Music Manager (please report if music tracks suddenly stop playing; check audio settings first please)
- -Upgraded FPS counter; faster and more accurate; also moved to bottom middle of screen so it can be used in Level Editor
- -Added Anti-Aliasing post-processing settings (experimental... G&G uses Deferred Rendering, which does not allow 'true' AA processing but has other benefits). Removed old test script.
- -Removed Texture setting (found no real performance savings and caused GUI issues)
- -Removed Settings Menu from Pause Menu to improve stability across machines and make future troubleshooting faster and easier
- Fixed bug that caused blue Workshop button to not activate Steam Overlay when returning from a level.
- Improved car destruction: More impact points and detachable parts. More reliable collision detection. Optimized processing time. (more work needed for very high speed collisions)
- Swinging Logs now auto-reverse upon collision. Useful for new level creation scenarios. This feature will also be used for the upcoming new Hazards: Giant Baseball Bats and Sledgehammers.

What’s New?
- New Settings Menu
- Controller Mapping and Sensitivity Settings
- Improved car handling
- Minor optimizations & bug fixes
Control Customization
Control customization, expanded controller support, and improved handling seemed to be top priorities, so that’s what this update is all about! You will find that your settings have reset next time you launch the game. This is because the temporary Settings Menu has been completely replaced. This new system is more professional and allows for a lot of room to expand the options as things grow. It should also be more reliable than the old settings and work better on different aspect rations and resolutions. It’s all brand new though, so if you run into any issues please let me know. Control Menu There is now a full control mapping and customization system! I completely un-installed and re-setup all of the controller support plug-ins and mappings. I discovered a few issues with how it was setup initially, so this should be a nice, clean install of all controller support features. You can finally map your own keyboard and controller buttons! There are also sensitivity settings, so you can adjust how smoothly steering works, etc. Mouse control support has been requested several times, so I added options for mapping that as well. However, it is very experimental right now and may not work for everyone; more work to be done on this feature, but just wanted to get some feedback on it so far.
Vehicle Handling
I spent several hours tweaking the car handling controls. I softened up the steering, reduced the assists, increased standard braking slightly, and adjusted wheel frictions and physics settings. This fixed the problems with turning the vehicle at mid-high speeds without drift, and made handling feel more natural overall. It’s still a drift-focused vehicle though! I also spent a little bit of time tweaking Earl’s ATV handling. He still has “drunken controls”, but I did soften things up a bit to make it a little easier to handle. Maybe more work to be done on this later, but let me know what you guys think. Bike handling is the same. I’ve found that on some controllers it handles very differently than others though, so you may want to tweak the steer sensitivity settings accordingly.
Spikes
I noticed a lot of people have been making the spikes very large. This broke how the spike mechanics worked, so I did a quick fix on that. Basically, the spikes have an invisible collider box around them. Any characters that touch that box get stuck by the spikes. I just increased the size of this collider to match the spikes. I will create a new “High Quality Spike” object in the next update that will have individual colliders for each spike so they will behave more realistically if scaled large. They will just have higher "complexity cost" to place. Other Stuff I did some minor optimizations on the new Yang tracks to stabilize and improve FPS some. In a future update I’ll be giving all levels a major optimization pass, but I just haven’t had time to do that yet. The first Yang track has an experimental new road shader. Still working through some issues with that not displaying properly on all graphics cards. Fixed a handful of bugs, including one that kept all relevant vehicle options from being presented in the Official Tracks.
Settings
There is no automatic quality adjustments system setup yet, so the default settings are fairly low quality. You’ll want to take a minute to adjust the settings when you first launch the game. In particular, you’ll want to set Quality, Resolution, and Shadow Settings. Below is an explanation of some of the more obscure settings:
- Anisotropic Texturing: Makes textures look better at extreme angles. No need to set to anything lower than “Force Enable” unless you are running that game at or below minimum requirements.
- Texture Quality: For low-end setups. No need to lower this unless your graphics card has low memory or you’re running the game on a very low-end machine.
- V-Sync: Turning v-sync on can tank your FPS! Only use this if you experience “screen tearing”. That’s when images look cut/staggered on the screen.
- Realtime Reflections: I have this highly optimized, so you shouldn’t need to turn it off unless running on low-end machine.
- Shadow Projection: only need to adjust this if shadows seem to be rendering strangely for you.
- Shadow Quality: I will add another option to this later for even higher quality. Generally two cascades will give you good results. You can turn this off if you have FPS issues though.
- Shadow Distance: This can have a significant performance on FPS stability. Reduce this distance if you have FPS issues.
- LOD Bias: This determines how detailed models appear based on how far away they are. I don’t recommend going below 0.5 on this or some objects may not appear at all (I need to put a limit on this next update). 1-2 will give you really good results.

Just uploaded a small patch that fixes a handful of issues reported by you guys so far, including:
- Expanded controller support. Hopefully fixes Xbox 360 controller issues. Also adds generic steering wheel support (experimental).
- Improved Community Tracks screen and Workshop links
- Changes to the temporary Settings Menu to work with more aspect ratios/resolutions
- Simple, fast anti-aliasing for smoother edges.
- Increased ATV strength so wheels don't break off quite as easily.
- A handful of minor bug fixes
