Release notes for version 2.1.1
Gameplay bugs fixed in this version include:
- River Shoulders' "Spectacled Sasquatch" talent no longer causes the game to get stuck when the prompt is declined.
- The "Winter's Banner" card in Battle Ground no longer causes the game to get stuck when the current player / Harry have either 0 or 1 cards in their hand.
- The "German Warlocks" card in Side Jobs no longer causes the game to get stuck if the players have fewer than a combined total of 3 cards in their hands.
- The "Ethniu's Will" card in Battle Ground no longer causes the game to get stuck if it triggers an accidental showdown.
- DualSense controllers now display the correct controller buttons.
- LAN discovery on the Steam Deck works much better and no longer occasionally locks up the app on exiting the screen / game.
- Improved navigation with game controllers, especially in the options screens. The Hidden Achievement account login is now a pop-up dialog instead of integrated into the Network screen so it doesn't steal controller navigation input on the screen.
- The backspace key no longer closes the bug reporting dialog.
- Several text fields that were set to a maximum size of 0 now have a sane maximum. Other platforms treated 0 as unlimited, while the Steam virtual keyboard interprets 0 as 0 and was preventing input in those fields.
The Faithful Friends expansion to the Dresden Files Cooperative Card Game is now available. The most anticipated additions in this new expansion are the book decks for Harry's most recent case files: Peace Talks and Battle Ground. In addition to the usual cases, foes, obstacles, and advantages in the previous decks, these new decks come with new game mechanics in the form of Crisis and Key cards. Crisis cards are both foes to defeat and cases to solve, while Key cards act as both obstacles and advantages. To help with the new challenges Harry will have to face, River Shoulders joins the existing companions in the form of a new character deck, while Waldo Butters gets an upgrade in a new variant deck as Sir Waldo.
The Spectacled Sasquatch
River Shoulders, the spectacled sasquatch joins as a new companion, bringing the strength of the river combined with shamanic training to Harrys side.
There Is No Try
Everybodys favorite medical examiner Waldo Butters has taken up the sword to join the fight in this new variant deck.
A small update, but an important one for the Steam Deck. This one is so small that we didn't even change the version number: * Updated text entry boxes to activate the software keyboard on Steam Deck and in Big Picture mode
This small update fixes an issue with checking expansion ownership on macOS. Internally it includes an update to the latest version of the Steam API on all platforms.
Update 2.0.7 contains a few minor fixes and improvements. As always, we appreciate the bug reports you send in that help us track down any issues you run into while playing. The fixes in this update, In no particular order:
- Fix several instances where a player might be prompted to pick a player to discard, pick a card to discard, or pick a player to draw cards during the showdown.
- Remove the WASD, Q, and E keys from keyboard navigation. They were unnecessary and this was causing problems with some text input fields. You can still navigate using arrow keys.
- Change the hotkey for opening the menu to Menu key instead of the backquote key.
- Fixed the handling of 'Shift Left' and 'Shift Right' to also support 'Previous Field' and 'Next Field' controls, so tab/shift-tab can move through fields properly.
- Fixed a crash that was occurring when using game controller bumper buttons on the Showdown screen.
- Made slight adjustments to button sprite offsets for controllers so they are more consistent across different types of controllers..
- The card selection indicator should now be properly hidden in the moments after a card is played.
- Using Winter Lady Molly's "Power of the Lady" talent to modify the die roll on one of Susan Rodriguez's infected card rolls will no longer lock up the game.
- Thickened up the outline on left/right text toggles.
- If "Alphas to the Rescue" defeats a foe when another foe is in the next column, the next foe will now correctly also receive hits.
- Removed the 'onward' button when from the game type selection screen. It was unnecessary and confusing.
- There is now an optional "Utility" button on the character selection dialog, which can be used to preview discards, or other (known) information. Implemented this for Ra's Imbued Fire when selecting a character to draw from discards and other cards that draw from discards.
- Don't let the player resign while showing the setup sequence. This should prevent some issues with getting stuck in pre-game planning that sometimes occurs after a redeal in solitaire games.
- The focus indicator when using controllers or keyboard navigation is now blingy and beautiful, and a lot more visible.
- "Try Again" after a defeat now works correctly when playing with more than two players in a hotseat game.
Version 2.0.6 is here. This update includes a number of bug fixes and some minor UI improvements.

- Type-in boxes in Options should now have more robust cross-platform UX.
- Join/Host online games show the correct remote player selections when first starting up.

- The missing final step in the tutorial was added back in so it no longer feels like it ends abruptly.
- Susan's Infected variant is no longer incorrectly modified by Running on Fumes in Side Jobs.

We just made version 2.0.0 available in the beta branch on Steam to get some additional feedback as we're getting ready to make it live. The big changes in this update that we'd like more people to check out:
- Added support for game controllers and keyboard navigation
- Substantially changed the UI for setting up games
We have an update currently in testing to support macOS 10.15 (Catalina). There are no other significant changes in the update, though it did include an update to the latest engine version which might have side effects on Windows and Linux that we haven't noticed yet. Please give it a try in the beta branch and let us know if you find any new problems. We want to give this build a week or so of testing before we make it the new official release.
This update fixes a few bugs that have been reported to us since our last updated. Thanks again to those who sent in the reports that helped us track these down! Clicking to dismiss the turn change notification no longer selects a card underneath The Mothers now prompts correctly to move obstacles when the only obstacle is in the lower row Ra can no longer pick an obstacle from either row for his overcome card that should only work on the obstacle at shortest range Side effects of foes defeated by Kincaid's "Cover Fire" talent are now applied correctly Unswayed by Temptation and other 'target and adjacent-that-is-not-the-same-type-as-the-action-target' cards now log their secondary targets Effects that adding 1 hit to each foe or 1 clue to each case now properly affect all foes/cases when it defeats the previous foe/case in a row Re-deal now works correctly when set to random character selection
Update 1.2.3 is primarily a bugfix release. Most of these fixes are the result of bugs reported through the in-game bug reporting tool. We really appreciate everyone who has submitted bug reports - it helps tremendously in tracking them down and fixing them. Fixed an issue with reporting bugs while in the tutorial. Cascade effects that remove cards that are targets of the current action no longer cause the game to get stuck. A version of the debug dice roller is available in the options under "Other" Fixed the animation speed slider to never go all the way to 0, so cards still animate. This prevents them from occasionally getting stuck. Pre-turn effects are no longer run when restarting a player's turn after they cancel stunt use. Prevents Soul Train from advancing if Winter Knight Harry cancels his stunt. Mouse's shop page is fixed to show Harry/Susan's extra cards instead of saying Molly/Harry. The game no longer gets stuck when prompting a player to move cards while there are no available cards to move. Damage from a couple of cards that affect adjacent targets is now correctly applied as if the additional targets are primary targets and not side effects. Targets that cannot be affected by the current action are no longer included in prompts to remove cards.
We've just released version 1.2.2. This version includes an assortment of bug fixes:

We just released version 1.2.1 build to address a few issues that came up since we released 1.2.0. We wanted to get this out quickly, since a couple of the bugs affected multiplayer game setup. Details:

- We fixed the bug that caused the game to not recognize any DLC because we hadn't set the Winter Schemes expansion as "Coming Soon" yet, so it won't happen for any possible future expansions. (And no, there aren't more any currently under development for the digital version of the game at the moment beyond Winter Schemes)

- Don't show 'No targets after range roll' when playing a card with Inner Demon if there was no range roll.
- Lash's Gift should now un-highlight hand cards after discard.
- When you click on a target, but still need to roll the dice, the dice button should now bounce, and play the "Invalid" sound.
- Added a bounce to the active Hero button when waiting for the other player.
- When an action affects more than 4 targets, show those target cards in the notification dialog.
- Kickstarter backers don't have to log in as frequently for their bonus content.
- "Apprentice Screws Up" explicitly only blocks Harry's "Wizard, P.I." Talent and not the other character's talent in a 2-player game.
Version 1.0.2 is now live! This version comes with a lot of smaller fixes and a couple new large features. As always let us know if you run into any bugs. The reports we've received so far helped us track down a number of issues for this update. First, the new major features:
- The game is now translates to German, French, and Russian.
- We added a new interface for setting up network games with your friends on Steam. You can now use the Steam networking system to invite friends or join games your friends have set up.
- SteamOS and Linux are now supported platforms
- Fixed a bug that was allowing clicks through to cards and the table when they shouldn't have been clickable.
- The Evil Hat is somewhat less evil and no longer causes the game to get stuck.
- The options screen no longer displays the graphics options behind the selected options tab the second time it is opened.
- Game no longer gets stuck when Molly uses Apprentice Wizard talent on a card roll that resulted from borrowing Inner Demon from Thomas with Talented Holomancer.
- Added more windowed game sizes and fixed some bugs with toggling between fullscreen and windowed.
- Susan's Infected cards correctly detect that the player who should discard has zero or 1 card and makes the discard automatic.
- Judas Noose now includes its outbound A marker.
- Damage modifier are applied before checking for actions that cannot defeat the target - this allows the Alphas to use Savage against cards with 5 damage when a damage modifier obstacle reduces the damage.
- Now checking that the player has cards to discard when playing Lash's gift. Also prompt the correct player in a 2-player.
- Mouse can no longer swap the row of cards in the same column when Winter's Wrath is in effect.
- Fate is correctly adjusted after using Molly's talent to change a Fate roll.
- Updated the bug reporter to send more data about screen resolution and any errors detected by the game. Plus it now includes an (optional) contact email address field in case we have questions.
- Escape key opens/closes the tutorial options panel when in the tutorial instead of the main options panel. The resign button in the main options is disabled when in the tutorial (in case we missed a method for opening that panel).
- Don't prompt to move cards when there is nowhere for a card to go.
- Action cards that move damage between targets now allow deselecting of the initial target.
- When playing a card on target + adjacent, also apply effects of the secondary target being hit.
- Added a tab to view discards in the character details. Look for discards in the tab with the trash can.
- Fixed the dialog for selecting multiple characters so the number text wasn't giant and preventing clicking the characters to the left.
- Don't show individual characters when selecting multiple characters during a 2-player game.
- Updated some fonts to use a new title font.
- Fix the ambient audio cycle button so it works after being disabled and re-enabled.
- Add separate options for ambience volume, enable music, and enable effects.
- Don't flip feature cards when they're zoomed.
- Enable flipping of Talent/Stunt cards in the card browser.
- Fly Michael's Doubt and Apprentice Screws Up when they block talent play.
- The scroll wheel can now unzoom as well as zoom.
- Changed action notification dialogs to 'Close' instead of 'OK', since they were acknowledging the result instead of confirming the action.
- Fly Arrest Warrant and Secrets of the Fae cards when they reduce damage/clues.
- Fly the Vampire Masquerade card and other obstacles that modify discarding for Fate when they affect discarding.
- Stop music when entering the play screen until we have a music loop that works for a longer play session.
- Add new options: show the planning prompt, show action notifications, and dismiss action notifications
- Add info to setup screen about difficulty and game type.
- Added a random book option on game setup
- Clear variant options during tutorial setup. Harry can no longer wear his Insulting Costume or bring Lash's Gift to the tutorial.
- Disabled scroll-zoom during the tutorial, since that was breaking the tutorial.
- Fixed checks for Butters and Ramirez talents.
- Luccio's cards that distribute hits/clues among targets now use number spinners.
- Only allow Stunt use during the 'Select Action' phase of the turn, since that's the only time it's valid to use a Stunt.
- Toot Toot And Friends now gives the next player in turn order (active player's left) a choice rather than the previous player (active player's right)
- Added an interface to view stats. The stats are in the Achievements section of the options. Also, the Steam achievements overlay now opens properly.
- Don't try to swap cards if the whole row has obstacles and advantages. This was blocking game setup in Blood Rites, where this case was possible.
- Stunt and Talent cards are now displayed on the table, and can be used to activate Stunts, and in Molly's case, her Talent.
- Added the music from the trailer to the menu screen.
- Fixed a bug when deselecting initial target of Move Damage action (Carlos' and Butters' talents)
- Planning Mode now displays "PLANNING MODE", when a hand card is selected. If the player attempts to select a target, a sound is played, and the "PLANNING MODE" text is bounced, to draw attention to it.
- Can now zoom cards when in the showdown.
- Clicking away from a selected hand card should now correctly and completely deselect the card.
- Card hover no longer gets stuck on after using Molly's Talent.
- Stats are now also updated on defeat, to help with tracking defeats as well as victories.
- Cleaned up the UI in the join and setup screens some.
- New methods for joining network games: Steam lobby (can now invite friends/join friends games), and an online private match with a simpler code than having to enter IP/port number.
- New book selection UI in the game setup screen, with additional information about the book makeup.
- Fixed a few bugs with Stunt use during network play.
- Add confirmations on discard and stunt use for table stunt cards that would automatically play with no option to cancel.
- Fixed some Tutorial race condition weirdness that occurred when an enabled element had the same key as the previous enabled element.
- Added keep-alive messages to network games to better detect when a host has disconnected and to help keep sessions open.
- Fix the "Harry Required" dialog when trying to start a game without Harry selected during Hotseat setup.
- The ESC key now cancels out of a lot of dialogs and exits a number of screens.
- Enabled the ability to host a game without being an active player.
- Tidied up the Exit confirmation dialog on the Start Menu.
- The default hold times for the flip-card overlay are slightly longer, and the overlay can now be dismissed with a tap.
- Corrected colors in the options menu.
- Don't try to remove focus from the hand card when not the active player in a network game.
- Network games can now accept spectators.
- Two players can no longer select the same character in a network game. That resulted in a broken state.
- Added new character portraits for Harry when he's wearing the Insulting Costume and Susan when she's Infected
- Mouse can now choose himself to discard when playing Foo Dog.
- The Ways will no longer cause remote players to get stuck in a network game.
- Only prompt the active player when multiplying damage on a target. Fixes Enchanted Duster in network play.
- When "Hit on the Carpenters" is solved, the game should now highlight the remaining cards correctly. Also, the "No Thanks" button should now use the middle slot, during the Showdown. Also, hitting "No Thanks" should no longer break the Showdown.
- Other players no longer get stuck at setup if Harry is too fast about starting a game of Side Jobs.
- Alpha Pack Attack can now hit otherwise-protected foes when borrowed by another player.
- Defeating the Evil Hat should no longer crash the Showdown when it tries to draw cards.
- Prevent Alphas from using Savage when target card would receive bonus damage from Harry (i.e. Grendlekin) in a 2-player game.
- When playing Alpha Pack Attack, damage all the cards first, then remove them for side effects. Fixes issues where side effects were preventing subsequent cards from receiving damage.
- When modifying rolls with Molly, hitting OK without adjusting the roll no longer uses her Talent and changes dice in bad ways.
- When discarding the card from Inner Demon, discard the card from the correct deck, and not the same card ID from the primary character's deck.
- Better handle the case where a table card tries to reduce fate. Previously this would crash the game if Fate went below 0. Now it just clamps to 0 instead of trying to trigger the showdown.
- Game Log includes a bunch of additional information.
- Return/Enter key now submits the Login and Two-factor authentication forms on the Network Options screen.

All of us at Hidden Achievement hope you enjoy the game!
