ProtoCorgi Hotfix 1.1.44

Mission Control here! We have updated ProtoCorgi addressing some issues that affected the gameplay experience. Here is the changelog from ProtoCorgi version 1.1.39 to 1.1.44:

  • Fixed an issue where kamikaze ships were not incrementing their kill count unless an explosion bomb was used.
  • Fixed player laser, animal spirit and bomb satellite invert color shader not working
  • Fixed wrong anime explosions names, now shows the correct background fishes explosions at leviatan planet section 2
  • Fixed background brightness condition in game menu
  • Corrected translation typo in bug turret

ProtoCorgi Hotfix 1.1.39

Mission Control here! We have updated ProtoCorgi addressing some rare issues that could affect the gameplay experience. Here iss the changelog from ProtoCorgi version 1.1.38 to 1.1.39: - Fixed arrow selector button clicklable in locked mode. Mutators absorb/animal spirit enabled configuration were affected by this bug. - Fixed animal spirit, absorb and stop time unable to being unlocked if Absorb and Animal spirit mutators are disabled (this should be imposible without bugs or cheats, but there was a bug leading to this case).

ProtoCorgi Linux Build Updated!


Hello Everyone, Mission Control here! ProtoCorgi Linux build has been updated to version 1.1.37!. Now, the Windows and Linux versions are in sync. Hello Everyone, Mission Control here! ProtoCorgi has been updated to version 1.1.37!. We have addressed multiple bugs of the ProtoCorgi version 1.1!. Here are the list of changes:

ProtoCorgi 1.1.15 to 1.1.37 fixes:


  • Fixed Leviatan planet section 2 missing fish ships at the end in Ultra Nightmare difficulty
  • Fixed Leviatan Planet section 2 ship fish wrong shooting flag in Ultra Nightmare difficulty.
  • Fixed the score extra lives and fruit extra lives bar, which were not updating correctly after losing a continue.
  • Fixed ship knight returning bullets outside of the range.
  • Fixed Alien Dimension section 8 background ice particles dissapearing on stop time.
  • Fixed Wall Commander laser not dying.
  • Fixed Wall Commander kill signal with wrong parameters.
  • Fixed a ProtoCorgi Maker bug when maps with edited paths are loaded for the second time, lossing the customized path.
  • Fixed ProtoCorgi Maker Enemies deleted by reducing the bottom map slider didn't update the object counter number.

Update 1.1. The Mutator Update has been released!


Hello Everyone, Mission Control here! We are pleased to announce that ProtoCorgi version 1.1 is out!. This patch is composed of new features and improvements to the common issues we spotted in the game. Thanks to all of you for your feedback!. This patch has over a hundred fixes!. Here are the highlighted changes:

New Content:


Change gameplay rules with Mutators!


Do you want to play against the time for score, a pacifist mode with his own rules, shoot only bark instead of using a turbo control, disable or revert features from the patch 1.1?, Mutators does that.

Caravan Mode Mutator:

When active, add the timer to Campaign stage, Training Stages and ProtoCorgi Maker stages. This combined with the Training power up selection and abilities mutators, creates interesting short score runs. Default value is OFF.

Unstoppable Caravan Mutator:


If activated, stop time doesnt stop the caravan timer. Default value is OFF.

Pacifist Mutator:


[previewyoutube=OSRJMC24-_w;full][/previewyoutube] Disables damaging abilities from the player. Default value is OFF. Overhaul of the pacifist mode, now it's a real gamemode. Changes the following rules:
  • Absorbed bullets give 10000 points.
  • Absorbed bullets reduce the boss timer by 1 second for each one.
  • Increased enemy bullets speed.
  • Changes bosses patterns.
  • Forces the game to one continue.
If the game is completed in this mode, the pacifist achievement is always awarded. As a recommendation, unlock all abilities before trying this mode, use absorb to reveal hidden chests and don't be ashamed to lower the difficulty.

Bark Only Mutator:


[previewyoutube=6EdIbvO0g8Y;full][/previewyoutube] Players can only bark and use animal spirit/absorb/stop time/bombs. Default value is OFF. Changes the following rules:
  • Hold shot replaced by a turbo bark.
  • Forces the game to one continue.
This mutator is aimed to help users to unlock the Bark only achievement and collet 500 fruits achievement.

Hyper Bark Mutator:


[previewyoutube=2xLGvkRSXDc;full][/previewyoutube] When the BARK bullet hits a chest or a fruit, the BARK powers up, increasing its damage and size. This can be chained. Default value is ON.

Auto Bomb Mutator:


If the player has a bomb without use, that bomb is automatically used on death with a bit of invulnerability time instead of dying. Basically bombs are an extra life. Default value is ON.

Score Extra Lives Mutator:


Get extra lives from the score!. Extra lives at 500000, 2000000, 5000000, 10000000, 25000000, 50000000, 75000000, 100000000 points and then for every 100000000 points. Default value is ON.

Fruit Extra Lives Mutator:

Animal Spirit Mutator:


Enable or disable the animal spirit without resetting the game. Default value is Enabled.

Improved accesibility:


Revamped Pause menu! We know that some people have been confused by the original ProtoCorgi pause screen. To remedy that we decided to made a new redesigned pause menu. We changed the color of the message tooltip to brown and the possibility of modifying some options without the need to leave a session. This change aims to make the game more accessible, as we heard some players had trouble distinguishing enemies, bullets and the background. We hope this can fix some visual problems on ProtoCorgi. The new options are: Hitbox minimum opacity = how visible is the player hitbox when it is far from danger. Background brightness = self explained Effects brightness = brightness on explosions, particles, full screen explosions, etc Snack brightness = brightness of the snacks that orbit around Bullets combo Ally bullet brightness = brightness of player shots Score brightness = brightness of the score texts that come out when you get points

Code for State and Options of the game:


The game offers a code visible all the time that represents the state and options of the game, this was implemented for debugging purposes, but we exposed it for streamers and score runs.
The code visible in the picture (C221000HASFAS-LP-) means a setting or achievement state for each letter. Here is the list of possible values: Letter 1: is Tutorial (L),is Training (T), is Training section (S), is Campaign (C), is a ProtoCorgi Maker Level (E) Letter 2: Difficulty level, a number from 1 to 9, where 1 is easiest mode and 9 is the hardest. Letter 3: Starting lives, a number from 1 to 9. Letter 4: Starting continues, a number from 1 to 9. Letter 5: Unstoppable caravan mutator enabled (U), Disabled (0) Letter 6: Pacifist mutator enabled (P), Disabled (0) Letter 7: Bark Only mutator enabled (B), Disabled (0) Letter 8: Hyper Bark mutator enabled (H), Disabled (0) Letter 9: Auto Bomb mutator enabled (A), Disabled (0) Letter 10: Score Extends mutator enabled (S), Disabled (0) Letter 11: Fruit Extends mutator enabled (F), Disabled (0) Letter 12: Animal Spirit mutator enabled (A), Disabled (0) Letter 13: Stop Time and Absorb mutator enabled (S), Absorb only mutator enabled (A), Disabled (0) Letter 14: Bark achievement state: (-) waiting for bark, the user should bark at least one time to unlock the bark achievement. Fixes and Balance:


  • Change side is unlocked from the start and it's faster.
  • Increased the invulnerability time and improved the visual effect. Shows a shield animation when the player has respawned or an auto bomb has been triggered.
  • Improved the power up attraction algorithm
  • Improved power ups clarity, icons better represents each power up type, the player has visually different satellites for each power up and spawn an informative text with which power up has been picked up.
  • Added input buffering for the Bark bullet, this fixes the feeling of "losing input" when mashing the Bark.
  • Absorb can reveal hidden chests, this creates a way to get chest fruits in pacifist mode.
  • Absorbed bullets award 100 points. It's more a tool for showing how many bullets are absorbed than a score feature. In pacifist mode this score is 10000 and is one of the ways to get extra lives.
  • Game uploads the high score and fruit score from the best continue instead of the last one, and the pause menu shows the current best continue score.
  • Bark customization is available from the start.
  • Increased the power of the Player missiles, options and bombs. This fixes the feeling of being weak with certain power ups combinations.
  • Bosses have a timer per phase and score per phase instead per battle. This makes pacifist runs more fun to watch and open more scoring options.
  • Bosses and big enemies have overall less health, but they are more aggressive, and some boss patterns have been changed.
  • Stage 1 Section 2, Stage 2 Section 4a and Stage 2 Section 2 reworked because of the power increment of the player.
  • Fixed repeated highscores in the leaderboards.
  • Added support for the visible inputs for the smaller hud.

Bullets journey to version 1.1


Hello Everyone, Mission Control here! first of all we want to thanks to all of you who has purchased and supported ProtoCorgi. The game was released in july 15th and since them the reception of the game has been mostly positive, and were really happy and proud for that. So, we are working on the version 1.1 of the game. This patch will be focused on improvements and solutions to the common issues we see looking at the livestreams and comments of the game. This is a sneak preview of what were working. The first big change is the revamped Pause menu! We know that some people have been confused by the original ProtoCorgi pause screen. To remedy that we decided to made a new redesigned pause menu. We changed the color of the message tooltip to brown and the possibility of modifying some options without the need to leave a session. The bark can be used to pick fruits and reveal hidden chests. The bark is also consumed in this action, as we placed the chests in a way that they should not block user shoots from approaching enemies. Still as we have multiple difficulties with level designs changes, this is not easy doable and there is still missing places where the user can get killed by the chests or fruits consuming bark bullets. We choose the second option. We plan to implement the HYPERBARK mechanic, when the Bark bullet hits a fruit or a chest, instead of consuming the bark, the bark gets powered up, increasing the size and the damage and this can be chained. ProtoCorgi 1.0.437 Patch - Crash Fix and Hats!

Mission Control here! Bullet friends has been working tirelessly to address some of the issues discovered in the release.
ProtoCorgi has been updated to the version 1.0.437. Here are the most important changes:

Fixed Achievement Related Crashes:


We have resolved the most frequently reported issue in the game, which involved crashes ocurring after defeating the Boss in Stage 1 (Nick Justice). This crash affected all achievements of the game. The problem was traced back to a recent update to the Steam's GUI, which caused an error in our Steam implementation. This explains why this issue slipped through our rigorous Quality Assurance process. Rest assured, the problem has been fixed and Bullet can now continue his journey without any interruptions.

Hat Modding Support!:


Bullet can now wear hats!
Initially an exclusive feature in the PC Closed ProtoCorgiStreamerVersion, designed to customize the build for streamers, we didn't want this feature to go to waste. Therefore, we have incorporated it into the full game, allowing you to modify Bullet with your favorite hat. Because this feature was used internally by us for customize the build for the streamers, the implementation is very rough, but in short place a PNG file in a predetermined path within your save folder, and the image will appear on top of Bullet!. We have prepared detailed instructions to use this feature for PC, please refer to the following link: ProtoCorgi hat modding guide.zip

Hello Everyone, This wasnt an easy decision for us, which is why we have waited so long to make this announcement: ProtoCorgis release will be postponed. Like a Boss

Hello Everyone, Mission Control here! Today we want to talk to you about the dangers that lurk in the depth of space. At the end of each stage in ProtoCorgi, Bullets danger sensors will go off and you will meet a terrible fate: A boss encounter!
Each boss comes with a unique set of attacks and movements. Those of you who have made it to the end of the demo will have already met one of them: The Guardian Eye!
(Hey Buddy, what are you looking at?!) He shoots lasers out of his pupil and tries to crush Bullet like the oversized ping-pong ball he is. Dont let him succeed! If you pay attention, you might be able to predict his path make sure to take advantage of that! To defeat him, you will need good aim and the right timing. Of course, these are just his warmup attacks just wait until you meet him in the full version, where he will have a few more tricks up his none-existing sleeves. All the bosses you will encounter in ProtoCorgi have strengths and weaknesses like this. Some are more obvious than others. Of course, your chances of success also depend on which weapons you have equipped. If you are almost out of lives, its important to strategize: Do you prefer a large blast radius or do you want to be able to aim all your power where it really hurts? Hello Everyone, Mission Control here! Thank you all so much for watching our stream and playing the new ProtoCrogi demo during Steam Next Fest weve been overjoyed by the amount of positive feedback we received from you! Today we want to show off another feature of both the demo and the full version: difficulty settings! One of our goals for ProtoCorgi was to make it accessible to a broad range of people. The shootem up games of the 80s were thrillingly difficult since this is almost a genre staple, it wasnt something we wanted to lose. At the same time, it is that very characteristic that also made them very frustrating for a lot of people: those with little time on their hands to practice, those simply wishing to play for the joy of experiencing the levels, or even just those with little patience. We wanted to make sure that as many people as possible would be able to love Bullet, as well as enjoy shootem up games. The result of our musings: Difficulty settings!
There are many different challenges for you to unlock: from Pup to Puppest to the elusive Ultra Nightmare! The full version of ProtoCorgi will include a whooping nine different difficulties! Now, you might wonder what these difficulties will actually look like in-game: The first difference is the amount of enemies you will encounter. At Ultra Nightmare, Bullet will have his paws full shooting everything in sight! The second difference are the types of enemies you encounter at different stages of the game, as well as their level of aggression. Watch out for vicious attacks from behind! The same is true for the bosses: more health and a more aggressive attitude to beat! They might also use different strategies to strike you down: the higher the difficulty, the more it will keep you on your toes. Quick reactions are the name of the game! Will you challenge yourself on Ultra Nightmare? Or go for a not-so-leisure stroll as a pup? At the end of the day, remember: Playing ProtoCorgi on a lower difficulty doesnt say anything about your skills. BUILD THE DANGER ZONE

Hello Everyone, Mission Control here! If you've played the new ProtoCorgi demo, you have already seen it: Our Bullet technicians have added a level editor! Not only does it allow you to come up with your very own missions for Bullet, you will also be able to share them with your fellow space corgis! This means that while we are working hard to get Bullet ready for the launch of his mission on August 26th, you are already able to put your guts and creativity to the test in the ProtoCorgi Maker.
Whether you want to take Bullet on a lazy, but obstructed float through space
or hurl every single enemy in your evil army at him the choice is yours!

Heres a little overview of the many cool things you can do with the power of creation on your side:




The menu on the left side of the screen helps you to set the scene for your adventure. You can choose one of eight different sparkly backgrounds and have your pick from any of ProtoCorgis amazing tunes.
The top menu is where the real challenge of your build will be decided! Will you throw up constricting walls for Bullet to navigate? Or strategically fill his path with one of over a dozen enemies (fish. So much fish in space)? The trickier the better!
The right menu allows you to choose the path of your level up, down, left, maybe even right, if you're feeling adventurous?! So easy to get lost! So easy to get stuck! Or use the eraser to get rid or your mistakes before anyone notices
And finally, to move to the next section of the level, use the bar at the bottom of the screen until Bullet makes it to the finish line. We hope you will make good use of this feature and share your creations with the rest of us here on Steam or on our Discord Channel. Once Upon a Time, in a Galaxy Far, Far Away

Hello Everyone, Its Mission Control again! Today, we want to introduce you to the story of ProtoCorgi, particularly the back story of Bullets adventure. To bring the most important dog in her life back to the land of the living, she moved heaven and earth and employed dangerous, previously untested military technology. The result was a dog-robot unlike any other: Equipped with destructive, multidirectional weapons, aggressive barking loud enough to rip enemies apart and the ability to survive infinitely in open space, it was more weapon than dog. The final puzzle piece of her creation: Bullets essence to transfer the memories, spirit and golden soul that really made up the best friend she missed so much. Just as Nixie is about to complete her most ambitious masterpiece, disaster strikes! The evil army of space aliens Nixies military fraction has been defending the universe against attack her laboratory and kidnap her for their own nefarious purposes. Just before all would be lost, Nixie hits Bullets activation button! Now active, Bullet manages to escape certain death and meets up with Nick an amazing military pilot. To strike back and save Nixie, Nick immediately enters his mecha and launches a counter attack against the enemy. However, their opponents came prepared fearing Nicks revenge, they brought an incredible secret weapon: a brain washing parasite. Unable to interfere, Bullet is forced to watch helplessly as Nick turns against him and his former comrades and joins the evil space army. And this is finally were we meet Bullet. At the beginning of the most important journey of his life: Alone and devastated, but unbroken and more determined than ever to save the most important person in his life. Will Bullets power and determination be enough to defeat his enemies? Can he survive the many dangers he will face at the very edge of the universe? Hello Everyone, Mission Control here. Today we would like to share with you the profile of ProtoCorgis hero: Bullet, the Cute Cyber Corgi! -------------
Name: Bullet Species: 3C (Cute Cyber Corgi) Age: Undefined Origin: Unknown Best Friend: Nixie Best feature: Cuteness, Destructive Barking, Vicious Lasers Bullet first met his best friend Nixie when he was still a wee little puppy. The two of them were inseparable, the most loyal of companions. Until one day, inevitably, Bullet died. Devasted at the loss of her best friend, Nixie vowed to do everything in her power to bring Bullet back. And she succeeded! Using previously untested, dangerous military technology and her own top-notch brain, Nixie managed to transfer Bullets brain into a robot she had built to resemble her friend. Of course, Bullets new body features a few upgrades: Aside from being able to fly freely through space, his already booming barks have gained maximum destructive power! A small laser canon in his muzzle can be upgraded with powerful attachments to reach previously unknown levels of devastation. Really, the only thing Bullet still cant do is paperwork. Space Tunes for Space Dogs


Hello Everyone, Mission Control here. This week we would like to introduce you to the fantastic soundtrack of ProtoCorgi. After all, it is a truth universally acknowledged that a Corgi on a potentially deadly mission needs the right tunes to get amped up and get into the zone to obliterate his enemies! To get the best result possible, all music for ProtoCorgi was hand made by Kemono Games very own composer Francisco Cerda, in cooperation with Bullet himself! But we are going to let the man speak for himself Q: First question: Who or what inspired you, Francisco? A: The first time we met to talk about ProtoCorgis soundtrack, our CEO, Mario, shared a bunch of musical references. Most of them were the kind of Japanese electronic shootem up music featured in games such as DoDonPachi, Mushihimesama Futari, Tohou, etc. I liked a lot of what I heard, but still wanted to give our music a special flavor in order to differentiate us. Since ProtoCorgi has strong roots in 16 and 32 bit Japanese videogames, the sound of 80s & 90s Anime seemed like a natural fit. Thus, a mixture was born, which took the reoccurring electronic sound heard in several Bullet Hell games, along with the old school jazzy/funk/disco arrangements found in the golden era of Japan animation. Theres also a big influence of other genres I discovered along the way, such as Future Core, Future Funk and City Pop. Q: What was your goal when you created the soundtrack for ProtoCorgi? How did you want people to feel? A: I wanted to make memorable music, melodies that stuck from the first hearing, the same way as happened to me with videogames I played in my youth. The music is arranged in a way that reinforces the Kawaii themes presented in ProtoCorgi, conveying an epic but yet uwu feel at the same time. Q: What do you think is unique about the music? A: I think that the old school jazzy harmonic progressions are a big part of what makes this soundtrack different. It brings back an outdated way of making music, in a world where four chord songs are the rule. Q: Did you encounter any challenges? A: The hardest part is to keep up with the expectations. The music previews Ive shared on Soundcloud already had an awesome reception, so the pressure is high every time I start with a new track. However, Im pretty confident in the material weve crafted so far. Is not always in the same style as the trailer song everybody loves, but it has the same melodic-emotional energy. Q: Finally, is there any part you like particularly well? A: Weve done a bunch of songs with Japanese lyrics for the games opening and ending, and also for some in-game sequences. I really enjoy those. They gave ProtoCorgi an intense Anime feel, which is something Ive always dreamt of making music for! Visual Space Odyssey, BARK!


Hello Everyone, Mission Control here. As promised, this week we want to give you an insight into ProtoCorgis visual design. Without further ado, we present: Bullets Space Odyssey Guaranteed to make you nostalgic for a place youve never been!
(In space, no one hears you bark!) Just like the game itself, the retro pixel art style of ProtoCorgi was inspired by old Konami and particularly Treasure games from the SNES and arcade era. They were an important part of our childhood and still define the genre today, so we really wanted to invoke that same feeling. Choosing retro pixel art for ProtoCorgi was an easy choice. That doesnt mean we didnt take advantage of how much more you can do with it today, however! There is far more room for details and vibrant colours now then there was in the 80s, and we tried to take full advantage of that to make the game as lively and playful as possible. Bullet turned out particularly expressive: Try to spot all his different expressions when you play the Demo!

(Bullet - So done with all these space aliens vs Bullet - Ready for action!) Even though with ProtoCorgi, we are aiming at a modernized approach to the shootem up genre, we definitely didnt want to lose the retro shmup identity. We really like how the end result looks, but we will leave the final judgement up to you! Maybe unsurprisingly, Anime was another major source of inspiration for us, which you can see particularly in the design of Bullet and Nixie here in this concept art. The goal was to invoke everything we love and remember so well from our own childhood and to share that appreciation with you.

Nixie already looks a lot like her final design here the big eyes and lack of nose are pretty common for anime. And look at little Bullet, what a ferocious bark! Such a big shot for such a small guy, that part hasnt changed much since his conception. If you are now wondering about Bullets enemies no worries, they will take centre stage in a later post. And now we are at the end of Bullets Space Odyssey. Did it awaken your nostalgia? Are you inspired to fire up your old SNES and dig out that first shootem up game you ever played? Or maybe you just want to fire up the ProtoCorgi demo and get lost in bright, dangerous outer space! Whichever it is, we really hope you will like the look of ProtoCorgi once the full game comes out. ProtoCorgi Demo Update 0.26!

Hello Guys! Here is a new update of the ProtoCorgi Demo, and this is a big one! We fixed almost all of the bugs, better powerup management, giant fruits, some optimizations and reworked the menu with more options! Feels like a new game now! Changelog of 0.26:

  • When the player get a new powerup drop the old one at max level.
  • Anemone body health is reduced in later difficulties making them harder to deal with homing missiles.
  • Added giant fruits.
  • Menu reworked with framerate, full screen, screen scale and many more options!.
  • Pool most used scenes at start.
  • Reworked bullet system, fixes bullet layering problems, bullets dying if the enemy dies or anemone plasma beams outside sceen/after eye dying.
  • Fixed black hole attraction, detached anemone eyes work as intended now.
  • Fixed analog not working in menu.
  • Added secret codes.
  • Enemies can't be damaged or damage player outside screen. No more turret snails dying outside screen doing nothing.
  • Animations don't run if the objects are outside screen.

Hello Guys! We updated the ProtoCorgi Demo! Avalaible now for Mac and Linux!: We implemented many changes from initial version (0.16), the most relevant ones are a complete rework of systems and difficulty, change side holding a button, lock option rotation, progression, shorten tutorials, full screen support and more! Detailed Changelog: v0.25.7:

  • Fixed Mac and Linux Steam depots.
  • Options rotation lock added when the player is shooting.
  • Shield Bomb damages enemies and makes the player invulnerable.
  • Overdrive Bomb orbs damage enemies.
  • Better difficulty curve, more easy at early levels, same difficulty at end levels.
  • Shorten tutorials.
  • Fish ship master can't shot behind.
