The Future of Errant Kingdom

Hi everyone! We hope youve been doing well and have been in good health since our last update. As of today, were reducing the price of Errant Kingdom from $20 USD to $13.99 USD. While this means fewer earnings for our small indie studio, we felt it was an important change to make after closely listening to your feedback specifically, your disappointment with how Errant Kingdom was released. We understand a years-long development cycle isnt the easiest thing to follow, so we wanted to summarise everything here for potential new players and deliver some other news we have. We value your trust in Lunaris as a studio and know that what we delivered was, as some of you have pointed out, not up to our regular standards. As many of you know, development started in March 2019 and the Kickstarter was funded in September that year. Episodic releases started in January 2020 and lasted a year, but we paused those episodic releases in August 2021 due to a number of issues. This is when we decided to switch to working on completing the game in full before we would release any further updates. Its been a long journey and a tumultuous one. Before the pause in episodic releases, we had been delivering on our promises for over a year, but at this time, the pandemic really began to impact our team, especially those of us who are core workers juggling both that important day job and working on Errant Kingdom in what little downtime they had. Of course, on top of this, all of our team members also have day jobs and personal lives we must contend with. We wont be sharing our individual struggles, but as a small and close-knit team, what we can say is that Lunaris will always pride itself on putting our developers first. Were people, and speaking as a leader, I see my job as primarily caring about the incredible folks Im lucky enough to work with. I know many, if not all of you, would hold me to the task of treating my developers in a humane way as should always be the case. Game development is hard, indie game development is even more so, and we want our developers to have the best experience possible so that they can make the best games possible. But of course, nothing can prepare you for a global pandemic, so I hope youll understand the issues we experienced as a result. Aside from the pandemic, we also ran into the kind of issues that typically arise from a games development. We had a large number of players experiencing issues with the game engine that we were initially using, which helped us realize it wasn't fit for episodic releases. We attempted to salvage the game on this engine, but it began to feel like a drain on our incredibly limited resources. We felt the best thing we could do was port the game, which already stood at over 300k words, over to RenPy; an engine we were already familiar with. This was a huge undertaking for our two programmers one of which is me; one of the writers of the game and the person who oversees the project as a whole. As this was only our second game, we also underestimated how much work we would need to do in order to complete such a huge project. We learned a lot the hard way! Weve always appreciated your understanding of our growing pains. Weve been listening, and we want to make things right. Lowering the price of Errant Kingdom is the first step. But its not the only one! Not only are we discounting Errant Kingdom, but weve kept a really careful eye on your feedback thank you deeply for the measured, valid, and genuine criticisms. As a result of how kindly everyone has taken the time to offer feedback, well be doing an intense edit pass on the game. This will allow us to move closer to the version we would have liked to release in a world where we didnt face so many development challenges. With full transparency, its pretty hard to see the changes weve needed to make after several years of chaotic development. As we previously mentioned, Errant Kingdom began development in March 2019 several years ago, and vitally before a global pandemic. Big studios and development teams have the resources to hire consultants up to several times throughout a games development to aid them with this; as a small indie team, we dont. Thats why your feedback has been instrumental in allowing us to figure out what we should specifically hone in on. Well be addressing various narrative criticisms so that Errant Kingdom feels more cohesive and respectful of your choices. We hope the changes we implement will bring about a more satisfying experience. We love Errant Kingdom and, despite the other projects the studio has needed to devote time to in order to survive, we care deeply about its success and how much it resonates with our audience. Crucially, this wont impact or take resources away from Call Me Under this is an undertaking we have scoped for and are confident we can deliver on. We dont have a timeframe for when the edited version of Errant Kingdom will be published, but well be sure to keep you updated. Thank you for reading this and for the time youve devoted to playing Errant Kingdom, offering feedback, and following our projects. Your trust in us means everything as a self-funded, self-publishing indie studio, and we never take it lightly. We hope that, despite our stumbles and imperfect development cycle, this post is reflective of that. Stay safe, take care, and see you next time.

Patch Incoming 3/5

Hey everyone. Just a really quick note to let you know that we have a small patch incoming on Sunday 5th March to fix a number of small bugs. We'll provide full patch notes on Sunday but just a quick summary of a few of the things we're aware of that we're patching; - Sprite errors (anime girl showing instead... sorry) - End CGs not unlocking on some routes - Small typos/inconsistencies Thankfully nothing game-breaking, so we're happy not to rush this patch and our beta tester is doing a final run-through to catch anything additional. If anyone has seen anything else you think is worth us looking into please feel free to comment below and we'll investigate. Also thank you for the support since we completed the game, we're very humbled and appreciative that a lot of you still had such an open mind after the development issues.

Errant Kingdom: The Finale

The Kingdom of Novus has been thrown into disarray, and it's up to you to decide if youll help to bring peace, or if youll stoke the fires of chaos... This is it. The big one. We're finally done with Errant Kingdom and will be moving it out of early access. We once again want to reiterate how apologetic we are about how long this took us to complete, and we're truly grateful to those of you who stuck by us despite that. This update is 190,000 words long with 22 CGs and 23 end cards (good and bad endings). This brings our total word count to approximately 590,000. We really hope you enjoy the game as it draws to its conclusion. We'll also be removing the game from early access. The team is now solely working on Call Me Under, which will be out later this year on PC and Mac. We'll be releasing a new demo for that in April, so please keep a lookout. Be sure to follow us on Twitter for updates. PATCH NOTES There were a number of small typos and some inconsistencies throughout the three routes in our previous update which we have fixed, but no major error fixes to report. While we did have an amazing beta tester for this absolutely massive update, we will keep an eye on reports of any bugs and patch accordingly before the end of the week (if required).

Errant Kingdom: Part Five - Out now!

In our penultimate update, enjoy the (relative) calm before the storm as you visit wintery Auduryn. Words are your weapon, wield them wisely... UPDATE NOTES - This update brings our total word count to 403,325k - This is the penultimate update! Our next update in two weeks' time will be our epic finale PATCH NOTES (FIXES) AMBASSADOR ROUTE - The end of the previous update was looping the throne room scene after the end screen had finished displaying. Now fixed. If you saved at the end screen this shouldnt give you any issues. - Due to a variable being misdefined, if you entered the Raiden & Lucien poly route via Raidens romance you will need to replay the previous update from the menu choice, "Lucien would be very upset," in the castle gardens to ensure your Raiden & Lucien poly route triggers in future updates. KNIGHT ROUTE - A line of text introducing Lucien to the scene in Majas atrium was missing, this is now added. - A repeated block of text has been deleted from the scene where you either speak to Roux or Erik underneath the tree. There was also a line referring to Erik being present in Rouxs romance route which has now been removed. - Due to a variable being misdefined, if you entered the Raiden & Lucien poly route via Raidens romance you will need to replay the previous update from the menu choice, "As much as you like Lucien?" in the market to ensure your Raiden & Lucien poly route triggers in future updates. NOMAD ROUTE - An error where, in the Erik romance route, a variable for a menu option in his cabin was not defined correctly and may have produced an error screen. This is now fixed.

Errant Kingdom Part Four: Out Now

Errant Kingdom Chapter Five: Devil's Backbone A new dawn after a strange night, and you don't wake alone. It's time for your paths to converge under the watchful eye of the Gods. UPDATE NOTES - Romance routes are here (all 24 of them + our three no-romance routes) - Poly and Ace flirt buttons are now active (apologies these weren't added sooner, I do all the coding myself and required some assistance) - To enter a poly romance route (Maja & Erik or Rai & Luci) please utilize the poly flirt button when it appears during this chapter - This update brings our total wordcount to 343,325k and our total CG count to 45 FIXES FOR ERRORS FROM LAST UPDATE - Some save names were incorrectly labeled as 'Four' instead of 'Three,' this has been fixed but if you want your Part Three saves to be correctly labeled you will need to replay and redo your saves - Repeated line deleted in Raiden's Nomad romance route - Someone requested that we add an 'auto-forward' option to the quick menu and this is now available (thank you to the person on the discussion board who helped me with the code for this!) Fortnightly updates will resume once again after this update. We are now caught-up to where we were with the previously released Unity version and all future chapters will be new content. We only have three more chapters left until the game is completed. See you next time, and enjoy.

Errant Kingdom: Part Three out now!

You're somewhere that isn't home, faced with things that aren't easy to understand. A secret, an unveiled path, and the choice you must make to take it... Hey everyone! We're here with a single chapter update this week due to my being out of action due to sickness for a good week this week. I didn't want to delay the update fully as Chapter Four was already all tested and ready to go, and we also just wanted to give you something to play as you would've expected, so we decided to drop it solo. Chapter Five is our biggest chapter yet as it's where we have our first proper romance route (all 24 of them... help) involvements and it alone is bigger than one of our usual two chapter updates, hence why with my unplanned time off this week we simply couldn't test it to the level we adhere to for drops with all of the different options and romances which make a very interesting testing process for just two lone developers. Chapter Five will now come out next weekend and we will then resume our two-chapter, fortnightly updates from the 11th of February, still aiming to have the full game completed around the end of the month. We gave ourselves a few weeks' grace period for stuff like this when we first mapped out the calendar, so we're still on track! This chapter is our shortest chapter, standing at 50,314 words, which is still PRETTY massive for a single chapter for a visual novel, just shorter than what you're used to with our current schedule, so please bear that in mind. Here you will finally choose your path, be it romance or not, and then with next week's update you'll dive into the really juicy romance and plot stuff. Make sure you choose your words wisely when talking to Gods, no matter how simple the questions may seem...

Errant Kingdom Part Two: Out Now + Update Notes

Theres something new in Novus, something different, and that something isnt you. There'll be no rest for the wicked, especially not when you keep sticking your nose where it doesn't belong... Part Two consists of Chapter Two + Three and contains 115,011k words and 22 CGs, bringing our current total word count to 218,011 and our CG total to 37. We have also added achievements with this update and will add more with each subsequent update (trying to avoid future spoilers by uploading them all in one go!). NOTE: as of 03:06am GMT on 01/07 we've pushed a small update/patch to fix a small error at the end of the Nomad route where the game was looping back to a previous scene post-ending card. This is now fixed, please update your game! We're happy to have stuck to our previous promise of releasing updates on a roughly fortnightly basis despite the team having time off over Christmas and will continue to strive to stick to this. The remaining three parts of the game will be released roughly on a fortnightly basis, with the aim to have the full game released by the end of February 2023. If this schedule changes due to any unforeseen circumstances, we will let you know. These releases should look as follows; Part Three: Chapter Four + Five Part Four: Chapter Six + Seven Part Five: Finale Please remember that Errant Kingdom has been fully ported into a new engine (from Unity > Ren'py) due to a large number of players experiencing issues with the previous version and some being unable to play entirely. We are confident everyone should now be able to play on any system without issue. See you soon with Part Three. Enjoy!

Errant Kingdom: Part One - Out Now

Part One consists of the Prologue + Chapter One and contains over 103k words and 22 CGs. The remaining four parts of the game will be released roughly on a fortnightly basis, with the aim to have the full game released by the end of February 2023. We understand the split release is incredibly frustrating for those of you who have already waited so long, but as you can see above, our wordcount for this game, even for such a small portion of it, is absolutely huge and we are attempting to minimize the strain on the team with testing and fixes with these smaller, staggered releases. These releases should look as follows; Part Two: Chapter Two + Three Part Three: Chapter Four + Five Part Four: Chapter Six + Seven Part Five: Finale Please remember that Errant Kingdom has been fully ported into a new engine (from Unity > Ren'py) due to a large number of players experiencing issues with the previous version and some being unable to play entirely. We are confident everyone should now be able to play on any system without issue and sincerely thank you for your patience during a very long delay. We recommend deleting your old game to clear space on your system as it no longer serves a purpose. We understand it will take us some time to win back a lot of players' trust after such a long delay fraught with problems, and we intend to work our hardest to ensure we do so. We sincerely hope that, despite all of the issues, you enjoy revisiting the game with us over the next two months and will enjoy its conclusion. We hope you have a wonderful holiday season and a healthy new year, see you very soon with Part Two.

Errant Kingdom Is Coming! (Release update/info)

Just a quick note about Errant Kingdom's release this week. We've run into some delays in testing (because... game huge, team small) so to ensure we actually get the game in your hands without exhausting ourselves, we've made the decision to split the release. We're going to stagger the releases into chapters much like we did when we were originally releasing, but this time it'll be in pairs rather than one at a time. This will allow us time to finish the final portion of testing carefully while also getting the game into people's hands starting this week like we promised. As of right now, we envision the double chapter releases to be staggered fortnightly. If all goes to plan, the game will be out in its entirety by the end of February. We thank you in advance for your understanding and patience. It's been a hell of a long road to get here. Your support through what's been a really arduous development (for both personal and professional reasons) has truly kept us going. We look forward to FINALLY watching you start to play later this week.

July Progress Update!

Hey everyone! Hope you're all doing well. We have some fun things to show you this time around! While editing and finalizing the final chapters of all three routes, we realized that we wanted to add a few more CGs to the game to give it that extra 'oomph.' After starting work on Call Me Under which has a more cinematic style/approach when it comes to our visuals, so where we have a little more freedom (and all-important extra time) finishing up EK without any strict deadlines, we figured it was the perfect time to add things. Things we're adding/working on! Race selection tarots The first thing we wanted to add was more of those beautiful tarot cards that our wonderful artist Lennox did for the character selection. We decided that the race selection would be the perfect place to flex Len's art so we've included additional tarots for The Leathan and The Human at the character 'creation' stage, which makes this starting point a little more interesting and interactive. We'll also be adding some more information about those races so you can make a more informed decision on who you would like to play as, similar to the information you get when selecting your role of Knight, Nomad, or Ambassador. New key art We were looking back at the key art that we created back in June 2019 (!!!) and, while it's still obviously super beautiful, we wanted to give it a well-deserved update so it feels more recent and fitting with the rest of our artwork. Anna has been drafting some sketches and we're really excited to reveal the final product upon release. It's going to be extremely sexy and fit for a movie poster. Leathan improvements One major piece of feedback we had from the released chapters was that people felt like the game was lacking enough unique dialogue for those players who chose the Leathan race. With Roux being one of our love interests/main characters, the topic of the Fae is brought up often, and I think it was both an oversight on our part and also a little bit of corner-cutting with our tight deadlines (in the interest of being brutally honest!). So we've gone back and are taking steps to ensure this isn't something that we feel like we half-arsed this time around. We hope this improvement is noticed and that you enjoy the extra little touches for your Leathan character that will undoubtedly make them feel more fleshed out and add to that unique playthrough element that we think is one of EK's strongest points. Cinematic CGs Last but not least are the 'cinematic' CGs we're adding to the final showdown! The climax of EK is pretty dramatic, as you would (hopefully) expect from a high-fantasy tale, so we wanted to step away from our more simple love interest type portraits that you unlock via romancing, and added some exciting scenes, mostly action, that will definitely bring some more excitement to the grand finale of the game. As always, we'd like to thank you for the patience and grace that you've shown us throughout this delay. We truly can't express how important it is when people actively support and encourage indie developers to take their time. I promise you that none of us want to delay releases, but at this point in time when the world is basically on fire and burnout as a result of that kind of stress is such a prevalent thing, having people applaud us for being kind to ourselves when it comes to our work is the most amazing thing. We'll continue to keep you updated as we progress and will never leave you in the dark, and the promise that you will most definitely see Errant Kingdom in 2022 is still one that we will stick to. See you next time and don't forget to keep up with us on Twitter!

May Progress Update

Hey everyone! Just a super quick update for you again so you know we haven't forgotten you! Not much to report again, just lots, and lots... and LOTS of coding happening, as well as testing to make sure we don't ship a game that breaks (because we've had enough of THAT happen before with EK). We also made the decision to redo our key art for a fresh new look, as at Lunaris our artists are already incredible but only continue to improve and become even more superpowered, so Anna is going to kick ass and produce something really special. We're excited to show you when it's finished! PRIDE MONTH June is rapidly approaching, so we're preparing for a month of celebration and making some fun memes to post throughout the month over on Twitter, some being EK-themed (of course). Also, every year at Lunaris Games since our founding in 2018 we've created a limited edition merch collection to celebrate Pride Month. This year were donating *all of our proceeds to Trans Lifeline, a trans-led organization that connects trans people to the community, support, and resources they need to survive and thrive. You can pre-order the shirt or the print (or both as a set!) on our shop website here. Pre-orders are open until June 3rd so be quick as this collection will not be sold again! *all proceeds minus shipping and production costs.

March Progress Update

Hey everyone! Just another quick check-in. We're still working hard and are currently working on the artwork for our Steam achievements! It's kind of hard to post more detailed updates when the details are currently pretty sparse thanks to fear of spoilers, but we're essentially still doing our best to get the game to you ASAP and can't wait for it to be done and out. Make sure you follow us on Twitter for general updates, and we'll see you soon.

January Progress Update!

Hello everyone and happy new year! We had a nice little break in late November into early December, so we appreciate you waiting for the next update and hope you enjoyed the holidays. We're currently (still... phew, making games is hard y'all) writing, editing, polishing, and programming. So basically nothing pretty or all that interesting to show you that isn't a big old spoiler, since we finished all of the art a few months ago. One fun little fact for you is that the final update script is currently pushing 200k, which might give you an idea of why the heck it's been taking us so long, other 'life things' notwithstanding. We still aren't going to jinx ourselves with a release date but I can tentatively promise you it will be in the first quarter of the year, again... life/world things pending. Keep an eye out on Twitter as we've been posting Errant Kingdom bits on there, especially on #ScreenshotSaturday. As always, much love to you all for your patience, understanding, and most importantly your kindness to our little team while we do our very best.

November Progress Update!

Hey everyone! I know we said last time that we hoped that would be our last update but unfortunately, that isn't the case, however, that isn't a bad thing because everything is still going swimmingly. We've been continuously working hard to polish the game and basically just making sure that it's as good as we really want it to be. We know that it'll never be perfect so we don't intend to drag our feet trying, but the beauty in being an indie team beholden to our own release schedule is that we CAN take our time and ensure that it's the best it can be. On the programming front, we've made a bit of a potentially controversial decision regarding the engine. We've previously said that we were going to release the finished game on both Ren'py and Unity, but this is no longer happening due to some changes in the plugin we use in Unity that has basically rendered our current version of EK kind of useless? Which... that's always fun! (It is not.) So, we've come up with a solution where we'll be implementing some choices at start-up where you'll be able to quickly craft your previous playthrough and continue with your choices, much like the way that the Dragon Age keep works, in a way. This isn't ideal and is of course just another of those pesky stumbling blocks we seem to keep encountering, but it isn't the end of the world and we quickly came up with a solution and put the smiles back on our faces. We do have a tentative release date in mind, but we're keeping it close to our chests just like we always do until we're 100% sure that we can commit to it. As always, our biggest, deepest gratitude for your continued support and patience. No one wants this game to come out more than we do, and having people understand how hard it is for small teams like us to delay games is so appreciated. Sometimes seeing more understanding directed towards AAA teams delaying their games than small teams like us is incredibly disheartening, but minus maybe one or two shitty comments we've actually been shown a lot of love. We know it's frustrating, but we will always carry through on our promises to deliver, even if it has taken us longer than we'd hoped. We love you!

Progress Update!

Hey everyone. We're back with what we actually hope might very well be our final ever progress update, We'll keep it short and sweet for you so we can get to the point, but we're super close to getting the completed version of Errant Kingdom in your hands! We're in the final stages of production on the last few chapters, and all we really have left is some writing and (a lot of) programming. The programming is the part that scares us into not announcing a set release date as, historically, doing that has never gone really well for us... or any developer. So while we're keeping mum about that right now, we can safely say that we're nearing the finish line and will be jumping and screaming and crying when it happens. We don't really have anything arty that we can show you, again, because of spoilers, but thanks for your continued patience and we hope you'll be as excited as we will be when you get to experience the grand finale of our characters (and your!) journeys.

Developer Update!

Hey everyone! Just a quick update today to show you where we're at with the production of the final update of EK, and to give you an idea of the kind of content you're waiting so patiently for. Sprites & CGs We have a host of gorgeous outfits and new characters to introduce in the final chapters, including more than we'd initially planned due to the episodic releases. More time means more art, essentially. In total, we have 5 totally new characters and 16 brand new outfits for our gorgeous love interests. For our CGs we'll have 19 in total, and then 20 ending cards! Then, last but not least, there'll be 6 new backgrounds. So... a lot of art. Our amazing artists have been working incredibly hard and we're excited for you to see the results. Writing & Coding, With the luxury of not having to update episodically, we decided to put a little extra love into the game so that it's a more polished experience upon completion. In July we decided to do a few rewrites on the routes as there were some things and story-beats that, when writing the game in one go instead of in installments, we felt weren't really clicking the way we wanted them to. We think this will result in a much more cohesive narrative experience. The biggest task for us right now is programming the Ren'py version of the game and re-doing some things within the Unity version to help it run better on all systems. This is the time where having such a tiny team becomes a struggle, so we're making sure we're not burning out and working at a pace that ensures we offer our best work. It's hard for us to show you any of the things we've been working on as we're in such spoiler-filled territory in the final chapters of the game, so please continue to bear with us while we power through! We won't be offering a tentative release date at this point, as of course things can and will always happen in game dev, so we ask for your continued patience, and please look forward to the release with us! We really can't wait to finish it and show you. We also just released the revamped version of our first game, When The Night Comes, which is available now on Steam and itch.io. Originally released back in 2018, we've added updated art, UI, a codex, and voice acting from actors including Gideon Emery (Dragon Age), Jonah Scott (Beastars), and more! Please check it out while you wait for Errant Kingdom if you enjoy our work. As a self-publishing studio it helps us massively. In the meantime, sit tight, and thank you as always for your support.

Chapter Five Patch & Notes

Hi everyone! Thank you so much to those who emailed with issues. We will be unable to reply to all of those that we received unless we think you have an issue that we haven't addressed with this patch, but we have implemented fixes for all reported sprite, background, and menu/text errors with the said patch. We've made the decision to disable the animated backgrounds with this patch until further notice as a few players were experiencing full game crashes or freezes and these backgrounds are the thing in-game that may very well be causing some of these issues with players with older machines. This also significantly reduces the size of the download for the time being. We wanted to just be cautious and do this while we investigate this issue further. Our backgrounds are still stunning while static, so we hope that this isn't something that will hinder your experience too much with this update! Please see the notes below for specific fixes. If you still experience crashes after trying this update please email us and we'll assist you. If you have any other issues not mentioned below please drop us an email at info@lunarisgames.com only. Having a proper trail of conversations on email is really beneficial to us as a small team and we will get back to you much quicker! FIXES - At the end of the chapter the game was not exiting to the title screen (this is now fixed, but for future reference, if you ever have a freeze situation, you can try pressing the backspace key which will bring up a load/title menu). - Ambassador Erik route leading into Maja x Erik poly: Corridor background was not hiding during the final scene and prevented players from being able to see the final CG. - SPRITES: Maja switching outfits mid-scene in some routes. Lucien sprite not hiding after the scene in their bedroom in Ambassador. - During the Erik & Roux scene in the Knight route one of the menus was displaying option #1 regardless of if #2 was selected. - During the Prologue speech scene the lake background was displaying instead of the town square. - Various text errors (repeated lines etc.) have been amended. - CG Galleries: Lucien Chapter Five CG and the Rai x Luci CG from an earlier chapter are now unlocking. STEAM ISSUE ONLY: Previously unlocked CGs were not unlocked, this is now fixed. As always, thank you for your support and your patience.

Chapter Five Update Notes

A new dawn after a strange night, and you don't wake alone. It's time for your paths to converge under the watchful eye of the Gods. It's here! Thank you so much for your patience waiting for this chapter! It's been a rough end to 2020 but we're excited to bring you this HUGE update. We've now branched off into our TWENTY SEVEN different possible routes, including no romance and poly romances! We really hope you enjoy. UPDATE NOTES (PATCH COMING MONDAY 04/01) We are aware of a few minor issues (as below) that we'll be patching out early next week. None of these are game-breaking but require a little extra time to fix. If you encounter any issues that aren't listed below please email us with as much information as possible, including your system specs, on info@lunarisgames.com and we'll get back to you as soon as we can, but please bear with us as we have just one person answering all business emails! - Small slice gap at the top of CGs where the background is visible - Lucien CG gallery having some unlocking issues (certain CGs may not unlock. Too hot to handle? Maybe.) - Windowed mode stuck in one resolution. We're working on ensuring this is resizeable! - In AMBASSADOR for the Maja x Erik poly route accessed via the Erik solo route, the 'Corridor' background doesn't despawn, causing it to block the final CG which subsequently freezes the ability to end the chapter - When two sprites appear on-screen they may ~fly or ~dance into positions. This is not on purpose despite how cool it might look. THANK YOU, Happy New Year, and enjoy x

Chapter Two + System Overhaul

Chapter Two is finally here as well as our very first mini-game, Midnight Run. Firstly we want to thank you for your patience waiting for this update. It's definitely taken longer than we anticipated because of the pandemic and us taking our time to ensure our team (that includes members who are key workers) wasn't under too much pressure. Secondly, we made the scary decision after chapter one was released to switch to a new editor extension program, which essentially means us taking the game assets and rebuilding it from the start. This was a mammoth task but a necessary one. Our first extension got us off the ground running but it was lacking a lot of simple features that people crave when playing a VN and also carried a lot of bugs. We finally found an extension that we're really happy with and we're confident it can deliver what we expect it to. Please be aware that this does mean that save files you have from the prologue and chapter one will not carry over, but we've made sure you can skip through those first two chapters quickly so you don't have to replay them at a snail's pace if you don't want to. We will be implementing named saves in a future patch/update but for the time being please utilize the multiple save screens to keep track of your routes.

Chapter One Is HERE!

As well as our new dialogue indicators (which you can learn about in options) we now have our Codex! Unlock entries as you play each route and find them in our Extras board in the main menu! UPDATE 04/13 - NOTES We have a few minor known issues that are present in the release of Chapter One but that are by no means 'game-breaking'. Please only email us with issues that are not listed below on kris@wtncgame.com and we'll get back to you ASAP! - BUG: Narrative/Story Log will sometimes show as blank; This is a known Unity bug where scrolling is not working for some users. We have raised a ticket with Unity for assistance and will fix as soon as we know how. - BUG: Incorrect MC Role showing on save screen; your save files may display the incorrect role before your character name when saving. This is a random bug we're trying to isolate and find the root cause so we can fix, so please email us if you have this issue! Your save game will still load the correct route. - In-Development: We're still working on implementing saving during menus/choices so please bear with us on that! We'll have it ready as soon as we're happy with it.

Patch Update

We've just issued a small patch which will hopefully fix the frame rate/lag issues and the 'cursed text' glitch that a number of players have encountered. Your feedback is always appreciated so if you are still encountering these issues (slow CG scrolls, dialogue lagging) then please email us on kris@wtncgame.com with the subject 'Steam Issues' and a small summary of your computer specs so we can investigate. Please note that the narrative log is still in beta phase and we will be implementing an update to this with the release of Chapter One in early March. Thank you!
