When Axis Football 2015 was Greenlit on Steam, we were about 80% finished with another game we were working on called Meld. When we finished working on AF 2015, we turned back to Meld to finish things up there before turning back to working on the AF 2016. With our KS failing to raise what we hoped it would, we could use all of the revenue we can get in order to make the game the best it can be. Getting Meld Greenlit on Steam would help us accomplish that! Hey folks, Danny Jugan here! Now that Axis Football has been out for a few months, I hope you've come to see that we do things a bit differently here at Axis Games (in a good way ːsteamhappyː) from other developers. Our goal with this franchise is to make the game that the community wants to play. The updates we've done have come directly from the fans, and we plan to keep it that way! Hi folks! We've identified the cause of the Mac & Linux bug that was rendering the game unplayable and have fixed the problem. We tested it out on an OSX machine, and everything is working great! We don't have a Linux machine on which to test, but believe the fix we implemented should solve the problem there, too. For those that care, the bug was caused by a directory discrepancy as a result of the different ways the game files are created & stored for the various operating systems. New Features
- You can now fully mod the height and weight of all the players in the game. In the root directory of the game's files, you'll find a folder named Mods. This folder contains all of the modable content in the game. To mod the height and/or weight of players, open the Rosters folder and select the corresponding team.
- Height and weight now affect in-game metrics.

- Added new skin tone mod options for the game. You'll notice in the Mods folder rosters files for each team that the "b" or "w" skin color option has been replaced with a number. The skin tones range from 1 to 6 where 1 is the lightest (white) skin and 6 is the darkest (black) skin.
- You can now move the pass aim circle before the snap when using a controller. This makes throwing quick passes to the sides of the field much easier.
- Added six new player stats (Throwing Power, Fitness, Awareness, Agility, Coverage, and Hit Power) for every player in the game. These attributes effect the performance of the players in various aspects of the game. The Player Stats Excel and text files for each team have been updated in the Mods folder to reflect the new attributes. If you have modified team stats in the past, it is recommended that you copy & paste from your modified excel file into the new excel file to work from there.
- Team ratings (Pass, Run, Pass Def, Run Def, Special Teams) are now dynamically loaded in from each team's player stats text file instead of being embedded into the game. This allows players to modify the number of stars each team has in the team selection screen. The excel file inside of Mods > Player Stats has built-in formulas for calculating the stars for each category. If you use the Excel file (highly recommended) to modify individual player attributes, the stars for that team will automatically update.

- Made all Hot Routes completely modable. There are six total Hot Routes, and you can change or edit any or all of them.
- The kicker's name will now show before kickoffs, extra points, and field goals.
- Added new, custom uniform designs for all teams! Thanks, Ace Bailey!
- Added a music toggle on/off button to the title screen so you can disable the music. Your preference will be saved in between game play sessions.
- The clock will now start when the receiver catches the ball on kickoffs rather than when the ball is kicked.
- Added new idle animations for QB, Linebackers, and Kickers that are used before a play starts. These add a bit more realism since the previous animations were more like stills.
- You can now shift your defensive line, linebackers, and defensive backs before a play starts. Press X/C or LBump/RBump to shift DL, Press Q/E or LTrigger/RTrigger to shift LBs, and Press R/F or Y+Up/Down to Shift DBs.
Improvements
- Increased the leg size of the player models to make them more proportionally correct.
- Slightly adjusted the mesh of the jersey number so that it didn't stick out/poke into the jersey as much during certain animations.
- Adjusted the camera angles to bring the player closer to the action in several situations.
- Improved the defensive AI for reacting to and identifying runs.
- Lowered the volume of the music on the title & season screens.
Bug Fixes
- Running out of the back of the endzone on a kickoff now properly ends the play.
- Fixed the range that kickers are able to make FGs to be more in line with reality.
- Fixed the bug that was causing the pass, rush, and total yards allowed stats to be equal to each other.
- Fixed a bug with Chicago's roster that was causing the game to crash when that team was used. They were using the old 'b' and 'w' variables for skin colors and didn't get updated to the new 1-6 method for skin colors.
- The crowd should no longer cheer or boo with the sound turned off.
- The playoff bracket will no longer cover the season stats.
- The message that displays when you win the Axis Bowl on difficulties below Hall of Fame will no longer spill out of the containing background.
- The opposing team will now properly call timeouts in Coach Mode.

Hey folks! Danny Jugan here with an update on what you can expect to see in the September update of Axis Football 2015! First, thanks for all the great feedback and support for the work we've done after the initial release. The game has come so far since it was Greenlit, and most of the features have come directly from the community - so pat yourselves on the back! The September update will be the final update for the 2015 version of the game. The changes that we have planned for the 2016 version are massive and will require us to completely redo the GUI for the game. As such, adding new GUI elements to the game will essentially create double the work for us, so we've decided to go ahead and start working on the 2016 version after this update. Without further ado, here's our planned feature list for Axis Football 2015 v3.0 (September update). This list is subject to change, but we're going to do our best to stick to it!

Patch 2.0 is live! Coach Mode, New Player Models, and More Modding! Hi folks! Danny Jugan here with complete patch notes for Axis Football Patch 2.0
New Features
- Coach mode is now fully functional. In Coach mode, players will select the plays, but will not need to control the players. We plan to add additonal features for Coach mode in the future once we incorporate additional player attributes like fatigue. Coach mode is available for Quick Matches and can be toggled on/off for seasons under the season home screen.
- Added Coach mode as an option for seasons. You can now toggle between Coach mode and the normal Player mode at any point during any of your seasons. Note that your preference is saved and will automatically default to your previous selection.
- Added a camera view toggle button in Coach mode that the player can use to toggle between a sideline view and the normal player view (from behind the offense).
- Preferences for sound on/off, announcer on/off, and pass aim sensitivity will now be saved.
- Added a new way to cycle through players on defense before the ball is snapped. You can now hold SHIFT and click or press X on the controller to cycle from the defensive line to linebackers and to defensive backs.
- Season mode now tracks several team-based stats for the duration of the season. You can view and sort the stats from the season home screen. We plan to expanded stats to individual players in the future.
- You can now fully mod both the home and away uniforms for every team! As with all modding, open the Mods folder in the root directory of the game's folder. There you will find a folder named Uniforms. Open that folder and read the README.txt file for instructions. You will need some sort of graphics editor program like Photoshop or Fireworks.
- We have implemented brand new player models. These models have higher texture resolution, higher poly count, and support normal maps (height/depth) for better visuals. Please note that these models are still a work in progress. While they look good and are 100% functional, the The artist we've hired to create them is making some small adjustments and will be finished in the next few days. We didn't want to delay the update for these insignificant changes, but are aware that there are some small imperfections that most will not notice.
Improvements
- Increased the visibility of the passing circle.
- Improved player AI on kickoffs. The kicking team will stay in their lanes better, and the return team will select more intelligent blocks. This helps prevent players from clustering or bunching together.
- Improved the AI's offensive play selection when losing or when the game is close to being over.
- Improved the AI's ability to select holes on running plays. You should see less of the runner colliding with their own players or running into blocked players.
- AI quarterbacks will now intelligently scramble in situations where no receivers are open.
- Improved AI quarterback throwing accuracy when attempting to lead receivers.
- Increase the anisotropic level of the field giving it a better resolution when viewed at low angles.
- Improved the logic for simulation games.
Bug Fixes
- Removed the bug that was sometimes causing players to run around a spot on the field in circles.
- Xbox controllers should now work with all Mac operating systems.
- Fixed the bug that was sometimes causing the player's text to flicker on the screen.
- Fixed the issue where calling timeout right before the ball was snapped would cause a lot of unexpected things to happen.
- The announcer will no longer say that a two-point conversion has failed when the player gets tackled but his forward progress carries him into the endzone.
- Fixed the bug where if you selected a run play, then audibled to another run play, the runner was unable to pick up the ball.
- The AI should now properly kick an onside kick when they're in an onside kick formation. Previously, they would line up for an onside kick, then kick it all the way down the field.
- Fixed the bug where the announcer would say there was a safety eventhough the runner's forward progress carried them out of the endzone.
- The crowd will no longer cheer if the sound has been turned off.
- Fixed the scheduling bug in season mode simulation where Dallas was playing an extra game and Denver was playing one less game. Note that this fix will only affect new seasons, not seasons that are already underway.
- Fixed the playoff seeding. Teams will now be placed into a playoff in such a way that teams with higher regular season ranks will be awarded home field advantage.
- The clock should now stop at appropriate times.

Hi folks, Our August update contains a ton of features, fixes, and improvements that you all have been requesting for quite some time. Many of you have asked when the update will go live, so I'm happy to announce that our v2.0 August Update will go live on August 21st! One caveat: what has delayed the patch until now is the implementation of our new player model and the uniform mods. I'm still waiting on the artist to finalize the fixes on the model, and I have every intention of getting it in before the patch releases next Friday. However, if the artist doesn't get the fix finished before then, we will release the patch without the new models and uniform mods. It seems silly to me to delay the entire patch for one feature. If this is the case, we will do an immediate update as soon as we receive the models - even if it's the day after the patch releases. Hi folks! Danny Jugan here with an update! Patch 1.4 is live! Below you will find the complete patch notes. We plan to make an announce this week about what you can expect in our free August update!
Bug Fixes
- Fixed the bug where the following achievements were not properly being awarded: Wooden Leg, That Just Happened, Comback Kids, That Was Left Handed, and Champions
- Fixed the issue where the aimed pass circle would sometimes be hidden behind the Axis Football logo at midfield.
- The kickoff team will no longer be drastically offsides. (I know we don't have refs yet, but that was really bad.)
- The "TOUCHDOWN" message will not show on TDs awarded by forward progress. They previously only showned on clear TDs.
- Increased the size of the football collider on footballs to prevents bugs where players can't pick up the ball.
- XBox controllers should now properly work on Macs. Make sure you have the Tattiebogle driver installed. Tattiebogle.net/index.php/ProjectRoot/Xbox360Controller/OsxDriver/
- We appear to have fixed the bug where the offensive plays would still show after a turnover. (When the defensive plays should show.)
- Fixed the bug that was causing players to run faster than normal after they intercepted the ball.
- The clock now properly stops after a safety.
New Features
- Included an excel file with all the team roster information for easier roster modding. You can copy and paste directly from the excel file to the individual team files.
- Made the position abbreviations in the roster mod (TXT) files more descriptive to better understand what players you're editing.
- Moved all files and folders related to modding to a 'Mod' folder for better organization. This folder can be found in the root directory of the game's files.
- Added player stat mods. You can now edit the stats of any and every player in the game. To do so, find /Mods/Player Stats in the games local files, then open the text file of the team you would like to edit. An excel file that contains all players, separated by team has been included for easier editing.
- You can now cycle backwards between players on defense before a play starts. Use Right-click or B to do so.
- Improved the defense AI's ability to recognize plays, reducing the effectiveness of running the same play over and over.
- Adjusted the kicking power of kickoffs to be more in line with the NFL
- The name of the AI player with the ball will now show
- Decoupled the time the AI waits to snap the ball from the frame rate, and move it to a time based delay. This will reduce the time the AI waits to snap the ball on computers where the framerate is loswer and will provide more consistency across the board for everyone.
- We went through our entire code base and optimized several thousand lines of code. The game should run noticeably better.

Patch 1.4 will be released next week. It will have a host of bug fixes and some new features. I could take the time to write out exactly what we're doing, but that would take a lot of time away from actually doing them :-) I'll post official patch notes when the update goes live next week, but I wanted to give you guys a heads up that it's coming!

Patch 1.3 is now live on Steam - make sure to download the new version. Here's a list of the changes:
- Fixed the bug that sometimes caused the ball to be shot out to another player when snapped.
- The clock will now properly stop when an interception is thrown.
- The 'Air Raid' achievement now properly unlocks when you gain 400+ passing yards in a single game.
- The game now says "2PT GOOD" when you successfully convert a 2pt conversion instead of saying "TOUCHDOWN"
- Fixed the bug that was repeatedly resetting the down and distance to 1st and 10.

Hey folks! Two quick points: 1) We're pushing out a new version right now that has the stats tracking fixed. Any other bugs that happen, please let us know! There's been a few bugs reported about it staying 1st & 10 play after play and the ball sometimes being shot to a receiver when the play starts. We haven't been able to reproduce them on our end, so if they happen to you, please give us as much information as possible about what happened right before that (type of play, any turnovers, etc). 2) If you're customizing your rosters, please back them up somewhere on your machine. When you download a new version, they're going to be overridden. Thanks for all of the positive feedback so far!

Axis Football Overview
Axis Football is a high-quality, 3D American Football Game. Choose from 32 team and play in either season mode or quick match against AI or local multiplayer.
