  [h2]NEW JOURNAL AND INCURSIONS:[/h2]
  
• A new type of quests are now available, Chaos Incursions. Incursions are optional sidequests which often involve several outcomes, give more Exp and provide substantial rewards.
  
  
• Whenever an incursion is unlocked the player will be informed about it via a unique message that appears after the Start of Week status screen. Each incursion is started by viewing the debrief event found in the throne room (or the respective NPC room), and can then be found on the Rosaria map in a predetermined tile. You can track its progress via the new Journal, which will also provide a visual hint on the tile location.
  
  
• The Quest Chain involving the struggle between the dragon ogress Ygriss and the dryad Isdriuel, The Grudge of Thorns, is now implemented as an Incursion. This plotline has been in the game for a while, but due to the complicated conditionals for its event it was very difficult to trigger, so were looking forward to your feedback on it.
  
  Four other events have also been adjusted to act as incursions, as originally intended:

Heartsongs dream will trigger on its own if the player decides to keep the Fae, after which Arzyl and Whitescar events will both be accessible through their new rooms in the castles main floor.
  
  [h2]MAP AND PORTAL UI:[/h2]
  
• Both the exploration map and the portal UI have been reworked from the ground up.
  
  
• Rosaria is now split into 6 regions, each with a portal in the middle of it. Each region is split into 2-3 provinces, and should the player research History of Rosaria (though the option is enabled by the default for now) theyll be able to check what resources can be found in each province.
  
  
• The portal UI now allows the player to resume traveling simply by clicking Rowans portrait on the map. It will also mark the location of all important Quests and Incursions.
  
  
• The map itself has received a visual upgrade, with new Forest, Raeve and Orciad tiles. It was also populated with more resource tiles, and several areas have been reworked to better reflect the history and current events of Rosaria.
  
  [h2]CLA-MIN'S SHOP:[/h2]
  
• Ploys have been added to Cla-Mins shop. These strong but temporary castle buffs can be bought with Rowans personal gold at the players convenience. Players can now decide what they wish to focus on - the Castles development, or Rowans personal abilities.
  
  
• Cla-Mins shop has also been moved closer to the center of the Castle UI, for player convenience.
  
  [h2]RESEARCH AND BUILDINGS:[/h2]
  
• Research has been heavily reworked. Several techs have been rolled into one, new optional research
• has been added, and new tiers of tech have been added, allowing the player to fully restore the castle.
  
  Several buildings can now be fully upgraded:
  
• Orc Barracks can be upgraded to level 4.
  
• Dark Sanctum can be upgraded to level 3.
  
• Breeding Pits can be upgraded to level 3.

• Bloodmeen army has heavily been rebalanced, allowing the player to field a far, far larger army. The military power of orcs, cubi and driders has been reduced, but so was the upkeep.
  
  
• Units have been split into two categories - Retinue, and Reserve.
  
  
• Retinue is Rowans personal troops he can command as he sees fit. Theyre soldiers who take villages and fight at Raeve, and once Rowan takes to the field in Astarte, these will be the men, demons and beasts who follow him into battle.
  
  
• Reserves are troops outside of Rowans direct control. While they cant be used to take villages, the player pays only 25% of their upkeep, and they will be fully mobilized to fight the armies of Rastedel when the time is right.
  
  
• Bloodmens army will now also benefit from Other Bonuses - unique individuals or resources the player managed to find in their travels.
  
  
• Acquiring a large army will be the focal point of Rowans effort in Rosaria after the fall of Raeve keep. While players who wish for Bloodmeens eventual demise may find little benefit in expanding it beyond what the twins require of them, all Rowans will benefit from increasing the armys War Readiness - a unique variable that tracks the level of intelligence Rowan has gathered on the Rosarian army.
  
  [h2]MORALE:[/h2]
  
• Proper morale upkeep has been reimplemented, together with Low Morale consequences. Should the player fail at keeping morale over 50%, they may experience one of the fourteen new negative events that address the issue. Failing to deal with the problem for an extended period of time may result in Andras stepping in to bring the orcs to heel - something no Rowan wants.

COGS OF CHANGE, as the name implies, brings many big changes to the game. This is probably our largest content update yet- on top of the usual metric fuckload of art that's been added to the game, we've also gone ahead and beefed up the actual mechanics and gameplay as well.

First up, our progress. To show you how things are going, I thought it would be a good idea to start with some numbers. Since we launched on Steam last year, we have added to the game:

BEAUTIES & BEASTS is named for the the number of monster and beastkin sexy times in store with this latest update! Fan favorite minotaur, Greyhide, gets some more work on his arc- along with updates to the breeding pits!

This time our focus was on, and it will be for a lot of the near future, working on the NPC narrative arcs for this act. To this end, nearly all the Xzaratl events in-game have received a rewrite to bring them in line with her planned arc, alongside two brand new events. In addition, we also have more progress on the Jezera NTR narrative arc, as well as a number of new ruler, map, and job events.

[h2]NEW & UPDATED STORY ARCS[/h2]

GREYHIDE, REVISITED
The Greyhide event, which is really four separate events with completely different content depending on whether your previous choices have put you on a Rowan centric path, an Alexia centric path, a polyamorous one, or kept it platonic. It features a bumper five unique sex scenes, so a lot for you to check out if you are a fan of everyones favourite minotaur bro.

XZARATL
As mentioned earlier, the main focus of this release is the Xzaratl narrative arc, and three of her events have undergone extensive rewrites, alongside two new events, one of which is an Alexia and Rowan sex scene. The Jezera NTR arc also has a new events, which features two sex scenes; Alexia distracting a female orc warrior, and Jezera rewarding Alexia for a job well done.

THE BREEDING PITS
We also have seven new Breeding Pit job events, all revolving around Sil, two of which have sex scenes, and three new events pertaining to the construction of the transformation chamber for Nasim.

MORALE EVENTS
We have fourteen new short morale events, that trigger when castle morale gets too low and things start to get out of hand.

The third content update patch for Seeds of Chaos is here!
This update and the new content is FREE to owners of the game.

BREATH OF LIFE is named for the number of quality of life updates we've added to the game! We've also taken the time to go back and polish up some of the older content and scenes- rewriting some of the older scenes in the game. In addition, the update brings new CGs and animations as well!

As always- saves more than 2 releases old can't be guaranteed to work, but given how we've touched up some of the existing game segments, now is as good as ever to dive back in with a fresh run!



[h2]NEW & UPDATED STORY ARCS[/h2]

Character Event Facelifts -
Hooky has continued to work on the Greyhide events, and has made large rewrites to three of everyones favourite furry forgemasters narrative arc events. Winter has reworked all the Shaya events into a more cohesive narrative, as well as brought the early Maid job events in line with Jezera ongoing interest in Alexia. Finally, Rein has reworked the Fertility treatment discussion with Nasim to better suit the new Nasim events added this month.

Alexia's Corruption-
We have a large new Alexia corruption scene, this time for the Andras path, as well as two new job events for the maid job, both including sex scenes. We also have three new pregnancy-related Alexia events, including the long-awaited first fertility treatment for Alexia.

Rowan's Pleasure-
We've got four new rule events, one which includes a new sex scene involving Rowan and Jezera. Also a new scene with Rowan where the pair are harassed by horny succubi. Still plenty of action our noble (anti)hero will get to participate in!

It's time for our monthly update on everything that is going on in the world of Seeds of Chaos. Back in full lockdown here, but doing my best to cope. On the Steam side, we're participating in the Autumn sale! The game will be 20% off during this period, so pick it up for yourself, buy it for a friend, or leave us a review! Moving on to the release, most of the writing is finished now, and as always I'm in the process of coding and test all the new events to get. Also on the programming side, Dragoon has been working on fixing the reported issues, and well as adding some more QoL and UI improvements.

On the art side, all the linework has been sent off to our colourist. Sommy has also finished a rather gruesome CG for the Rastedel arc, a portion of which you can see above, which will be featured in all its gory glory in the release.

The company has grown in size, as we've been able to add more staff to the roster. This year has seen the completion of main story for Act I, the Rastedel arc, and we've also managed to catch up with our art backlog, that was at one time over 100 CGs behind. In addition to this, thanks to Dragoon we've made a ton of improvements to how the game looks and plays, including a number of QoL improvements people have been asking for for a long time.

Going into the next year, our focus is going to be on the castle NPC arcs, as well as the Goblin plotline, so we can hopefully move on to Act II some point in the near future.

October is upon us and things are getting spooky! First, the good news - The game also continues to chug away slowly but surely over on Steam, but we haven't had any reviews on there in a while, so if you haven't got around to leaving one yet, it would be very much appreciated. :)

Getting to the release - as always things have started to progress in order to get it out on time at the end of the next month. In terms of writing, Winter is working on a number of things, including a new scene for the Jezera NTR path, the Shaya NPC arc, and new job events for Alexia. Hooky will be contuining his work on improving the Fae plotline, and the Greyhide NPC arc, while Rein is starting to work on more Nasim content. We'll also have a few events from our new writer, Exagie, who wrote the Rowan x Valrys mine event in the previous release.



On the art side, we now have all the sketches back. We also have most of the lineart and this has been sent on to our colourist. Sommy also finished his CG for the battle of Astarte, which you can see above, and it looks amazing as always.

On the programming side, we're starting to code all the necessary event changes to implement the mechanics update, but this is a very large task that has to be done piecemeal. We're hoping we'll be able to add it in the January release, but it will require a huge amount of testing, so might be further delayed. Dragoon is fixing the issues with building, as well as a number of QoL improvements, including UI updates, map improvement, and the requested naming saves fuction, as well as in-engine deletion option.

We are nearly halfway through the year, and what a year it has been so far. Over here at Venus Noire we are keeping safe and managing to cope, putting out another new release on time for the end of May. It is another big one that focuses on Rastedel, bringing the arc to a close (other than some smaller stuff to be done later). Well now be looking to move on to other areas of the game, namely castle character arcs, and the mechanics update.

In addition to the Rastedel content, with have a number of events in the other castle based pools. Weve always been doing a little bit of work on the programming side, crushing a much-mentioned bug that was causing village capture numbers to be displayed incorrectly, and adding quality of life improvements to the map; namely the often requisition zoom and pan functions.

The Fall Of Rastadel -
We have completed the much awaited finale of the Rastadel arc, made up of a number of smaller sequential events, leading to the climactic scene of conquest. This is the siege in SIEGEBREAKER.

Rowan & Alexia -
We also have added some new events, focusing on the relationship between Rowan and Alexia. One is romantic, while another revolves around joint corruption. Theres also three new Alexia forge job events, including a much requested new sex scene between Alexia and everybodys favourite furry blacksmith, Greyhide. There are also a number of new job events for Alexia (including two new sex scenes)

The Day After -
Following the sack of Rastadel is the beginning of a new route that will allow you to ally with Maud, as an alternative to allying with the young knight captain, Alain.

Hey everyone,

Well, it is pretty crazy how much everything can change in a month, right? Hope you are all well and keeping safe, and continue to do so until the current crisis is over. Things are in flux right now for everybody, but gamewise, we are doing our best to stick to the status quo. WIt seems like we are holding steady (in fact, we actually increased a little on Patreon). Like all of you, I'm a little uncertain about how things will go, funding wise, if this continues, but we understand the situation. We'll be fine, and there are far more important things to worry about at this moment in time than porn games. :)

Moving on, we are all busy working on the next major content over here, with an aim to get it out at the beginning of May. I'm just waiting on Winter finishing the Rastedel events that didn't get done in time for last month. This will also include the three CGs from last month that didn't get added as they were part of those events. While he is doing that, the other writers are hard at work on their own stuff; Hooky is writing a bunch of random events as usual, while Rein continues to work on the alternate Maud alliance path.

Art-wise, I already have all of the sketches, and most of the line art back from MDN (which the backers have already seen), and these are currently with our colourist who is doing the flats. Sommy is continuing his recent trend of doing pieces with a ridiculous number of characters, and has almost finished the CG for the goblin dinner (which is typically excellent, if I may add). Keidi is also working on two sprites for the new Rastedel content.

Speaking of new Rastadel content, the next major content update for Seeds of Chaos will be known as SIEGEBREAKER.



It'll contain all of the content we've posted about in the past couple of months- with a focus on wrapping up the Rastadel arc. We're also looking into getting Steam Trading Cards live, as well as wrapping up a brand new cinematic trailer!

Time another update about what we have been up to here at Venus Noire. We've been having another good month on the business side, last month we broke 10k for the first time on Patreon, and we are just about to hit 5k sales over on Steam, as well as having achieved a "very positive" rating! As always, we will push on as best we can, and maybe we can keep this upturn going. :)

I haven't got a lot to say about the release, so I am going to talk about something else (which we'll get to in a minute), other than we are continuing to work on it as discussed last month. There might be one small hiccup as I haven't heard from MDN in a few days (which isn't like him), hopefully it is nothing, but worst-case scenario, we already have last month's CGs (and Sommy is doing another group sex illustration) and I will use these to release the update on time, and then follow up with any missing CGs in a second release ASAP.

Anyway, now that Rastedel is nearly almost finished (oh Lordy, praise Jesus), I thought it'd be a good idea to talk a little about what we are planning to do next. I know I have mentioned it before, but here's a little more detail:

Mechanics overhaul - There's been complaints about the mechanics for a while now, so Rein designed an entire new system in order to address them. This system will allow you to specialize in things such as stealth, deception, etc. using "levels", allowing you to pass checks without random dice rolls, eliminating some of the frustration. Our python coder (who does all the work beyond my skill level), Dragoon, coded the core of this system a few months ago, but we haven't had time to test it due to Rastedel. Now that is pretty much behind us, implementing the new mechanics will be one of our top priorities.

Map update - We are also looking at ways to improve the map. Sommy would like a bit more visual flair, so he is in discussions with Dragoon about what can be done on that front. We'll also be looking at adding quality of life improvements that have been requested in the past (such as a zoom out function, to view more of the map), as well as adding more content to the east side (more villages, resources, and the upcoming Goblin quest).

NPC Story Arcs - Moving on to the writing side of things, we'll be working on giving every major character in the castle a narrative arc that incorporates player choice. The reason we slowed down a bit on character events was that we wanted to move from random events to ones that told a story, so we have been planning for a few months. There are already two of these arcs in the game that have made significant progress (Winter's Helayna events, and Rein's Cliohna ones), and each major NPC will be getting a similar arc. These will be a series of events that shape Rowan's relationship with the people around him, and play out differently depending on your choices. They will not only affect things in act one, but also in future acts.

Other Story Arcs - We've also been doing a lot of planning on the other two arcs that take place in Rosaria, the fey arc, and the goblin arc. Hooky is going to be getting back to mostly working on the fey arc now that Rastedel is pretty much done, so you'll be seeing some of that in the next few months. We'll also be starting on the goblin recruitment narrative in the future, but there'll be more on that nearer the time.

Act Two - We have also been spending a lot of the time in the last few weeks plotting act two. As we get nearer to the end of the first act, we'll be trying to find time to work more on act two to make the transition as seamless as possible. We need to figure out a few things, like how to best import act one data, and look at opportunities to improve the game in a completely new build, but our main goal is to avoid a long delay between the end of act one and the beginning of act two.

[h2]NEW & UPDATED STORY ARCS[/h2]

The Fall Of Rastadel -
As mentioned, the focus this month has been reaching the fall of Rastedel. To achieve this aim, we had to add two new events to finish off the Patricia route (both including sex scenes), as well as two new Alain events (with one sex scene). As well as those, we have also added one very long finale event, made up of a number of smaller sequential events, leading to the climactic scene of conquest.

Rowan & Alexia -
We also have two new Ruler events, both focusing on the relationship between Rowan and Alexia. One is a romantic, while the other revolves around joint corruption. Theres also three new Alexia forge job events, including a much requested new sex scene between Alexia and everybodys favourite furry blacksmith, Greyhide.
