Hello Killers! We hope you have been crushing a whole lot of enemies. We stomped a few bugs lurking around the woods ourselves. Duplicate rune choices when lighting a Shrine should be a thing of the past, and we tidied up some monster pathing issues, too. If you still find some glitches in the Nightmare we haven't seen, post them up in the forum, or send us the details, and we'll try and find them and destroy them to improve the murdering. Till then, keep lighting those Shrines! bonfire2
This is it! Full release! 1.0! What a lovely day! The mists are swirling, the blood is spraying, and evil stalks the land. Reanimate's first game, a bloody reverse horror-roguelike, action/strategy hybrid, where you slash your way through hordes of monstrous foes to claw your way back from death for a shot at revenge, is NOW OUT! There's even a 10% discount for launch week. Can we get a "Groovy"? Enjoy turning monsters into meat!
Greetings Killers, What a month its been. This will be our final patch before the Beta ends on September 6, just before we launch on September 8! Scary! But we have such sights left to show you... with one last big update for you to play before release! The game has taken its final evolutionary turn, and you'll find a whole new level of challenge as evil has grown stronger. Heres what all is new:
- Almost every monster and boss in the game has had their sprites touched up or improved.
- All bosses have new moves and behavior and should, across the board, be much more interesting as well as uniquely challenging. We also made sure Tier 1 and Tier 2 versions of the same boss have extra variance between them. You thought two Wendigos were bad? Wait till you meet their Tier 2 version.
- One entirely new boss joins the carnage! The Straw Man/Wicker Man will keep you on pins and needles... and flaming nails! Hes a ranged boss that prefers to stay away from you, and will make you dance with crazy AOEs.
- Youll find Tier 3 a bit more manageable. The ranged attacking Hunter has gone off to new lands in search of prey but youll find the Trapper is prowling around living up to his name. We suggest taking him out at a distance And remember, you can disarm bear traps.
- Weve tweaked some items for better functionality, namely Charon Coin, Bear Traps, and the Raven Feather. Youll now see their maximum range as a radius.
- Weve also looked at some balance issues, namely changing a few items that were over performing against bosses. Weve completely changed Blood Rage as part of this. You no longer paste enemies in one strike, you do 1 damage as you have nothing but your fists, but you now restore ALL Actions each time you get a kill. Keep killing and youll keep on going! Fleshbound Text also does only 1 damage to bosses instead of wiping them out, and the Ad Extremum Terrae now only stuns bosses for 1 full turn.
- Youll see a new title screen when you load up the game.
- Steam Cloud saves are also here.
Greetings Killers, it's another weekend patch! The main feature we have added is... fire! You can now set monsters ablaze with the satisfying Pyrokinesis ability. You can be gifted with this elemental fury by using Arcane Shrines, or by finding and using the Melted Glass item. There is a new Perk to go with this too, Seether and Seether+. Fire can now affect Hexes, and spread or go out. While you have Pyrokinesis on, you are immune to fire, so dont be shy in spreading it around. There may be a monster or two out there that can use fire, too, however. But speaking of items, beyond the Melted Glass, there are 5 other new items in the game for you to play around with as well. Weve also started working on making monsters more unique. The Brute Trog now lives up to his name and and has a knock back effect. The Boogeymen have learned how to power attack. Best get out of the way of that attack when you see it coming, but thankfully, they telegraph where it will land. The targeted hexes will glow red as a warning! This is a mechanic a number of other enemies (especially bosses) will be learning soon, too Because of the Power Attack effect on Hexes requiring red, we changed the glow of Carrion Shrines from danger-red to soul-blue to avoid any confusion. We also removed the afterglow from objects you can interact with as well since that was a bit confusing. Now they just stop glowing when you have activated them. There quite a few QoL updates here too, including the ability to turn down the sound mousing over tiles makes. There is now a dark fog to the edges of the visible space to make things moodier. And the last major thing we did was add the ability to turn on an Examine Mode. This is a new way of examining enemies and your surroundings in addition to right click. This one is activated by pressing SPACE, then you can mouse over everything you like and get info, and when youre done, just press SPACE again to turn it off. Happy Entrails!
Greetings Killers, A lot has happened in the Nightmare! Here's a rundown on whats in the latest, massive patch. Firstly, you may notice we have new sprites for the Faceless that goes a bit further down the horror path. We hope you find him a lot more creepy and monstrous, as he should be. We figured you could use some new toys, too, so we tripled the amount of weapons in the game. There are now 30 melee weapons and 6 ranged weapons, up from 9 and 3 respectively! This is in addition to the 9 new Masks we introduced recently to the game as well (up from 5), so there should be a whole lotta new ways to fight the hordes. Theres even a whole new class of melee weapons: Spears! Do some stabbing at a safe distance, and even skewer multiple targets that have conveniently lined up! Youll also find some new tricks among the old standbys. Many can now cause critical hits or stun targets, and some can knock monsters to adjacent tiles, so youll have a much bigger toolkit. All but three of these new weapons have Lore/Quotes, too. We have also changed a few systems. We implemented the most requested addition to the game: END TURN! Just mouse over the Facelesss hex and a prompt will appear. Click in that Hex and itll give you a confirm message one more click and you will end your turn. Make sure you do everything you want to do before you use this, since once you click to confirm, no matter how many Actions you have, it will advance to the monsters turn. Weve also changed and tightened Action Swapping. Its now remapped to mouse wheel. When you mouse over a hex, the available actions for that hex will orbit the cursor, as before, but now you can switch through them by turning the wheel. Weve also changed Examining by dropping the click+hold mechanic. Its now much faster. Just mouse over an enemy or object and right click to Examine them and see their stats. To close the info box, right click again, or just mouse away and it will close automatically. Now you can get monster stats on the fly. We also added an option on the title screen and in the pause menu to resize the system cursors. Theres three sizes available you can cycle through. You can now also switch the game to run in windowed, full screen, or borderless full screen with an option on the title screen and in the pause menu. A few enemies have had some adjustments. The Royal Troglodyte is now tougher and should be a better fight, and Maw Worms have gotten an extra Heart. Purple Worms have an extra Heart and an extra Damage. Don't underestimating them now! Navigation Points for the biomes have also been given a generic icon that denotes a Point of Interest so you have to go check it out to see which biome it actually is. Chests within these biomes now have their own Nav icons, and Arcane Shrines (the ones with random effects) also have a specific icon so you can tell more clearly whats around you. Thats all for this round. Lots more still coming, too, but we hope this will keep you busy for a while. Until next time Happy Entrails!
Greetings killers, Welcome to those who are new to the Nightmare. We have such sights to show you! The highlights of this update are the new UI elements that we hope will give you a greater sense of your progress during a run. Namely, a kill tracker, a shrine/boss tracker, and a tier indicator. To go along with this clarity, we also added some alerts that will draw your attention to important things you are triggering (or accomplishing). Like when a boss is coming for you. HappyEshe One note with these features: they have tooltips, but are not yet included in the tutorial directly. We also cleaned up the engine a bit. You will notice shrines spawning in nearer to your current position, as well as (hopefully) a snappier response for your input when moving and fighting. We also introduced a fatal error in the tutorial, but it should now be splattered. OgreNuke Apologies for those that were quick on the trigger to try things out only to be stopped dead. As an Update to the Update we also added 7 new masks to game, and some audio feedback when selecting tiles. Till next time, happy entrails!
