Hello everyone, This is the publisher, Top Hat Studios, just wanted to drop in to say a few things. As many people know (or as some people may not know), Sense was recently covered by Nintendo Life for its upcoming Nintendo Switch release, in partnership with EastAsiaSoft. As a result of this coverage, Nintendo Life's article was shared in some twitter and facebook groups which made it their mission to harass and send abuse toward both us as well as the developers of Sense publicly and privately, including significant threats as well as doxxing in addition to other less than ideal messages and false information about the game. We responded rebuking these people, as well as saying in spite of this we would not change content in game. This lead to further controversy with us being accused of making up the controversy for a marketing stunt, which, as those who follow our social media may have seen, was certainly not the case. We also wish to make clear that Nintendo Life's article itself was entirely fair, and none of this is their fault. In response to this, we wanted to say that we greatly and sincerely appreciate the overwhelming support which people have shown to both us as well as the developers of the game in light of these events. It has been an incredibly stressful few days, and we cannot thank everyone enough for their support, no matter how they have sent it to us. While we never asked for this support and just wanted to stay true to our values as publishers and creators, we appreciate the overwhelming support shown to us. However, we would like to say that with that said, please do not break any of Steam's rules. We have noticed some behavior both on the forums and in the reviews which is borderline contentious. If you are going to leave a review or engage on the forums, please make sure it is within Steam's rules. While, as many have noticed, we generally take a hands off approach to moderation, we cannot allow people to violate any of Valve's site-wide rules. Please keep both reviews and threads topical. Once again, we do appreciate the overwhelming support, but please do not violate any of the site wide rules. Also, to be clear, both us and the developer understand that this game is not for everyone. If you enjoyed the game or did enjoy the game, you are entitled to your opinion. We understand the game is somewhat niche and may not appeal gameplay-wise to everyone. However, there is obviously a difference between such and the abuse we had received on social media. The developer is very open to critique and feedback and we are more than happy to pass valid feedback to them. We will remain in strong support of principles of developer expression. Thank you to everyone who has shown support to both us as well as the developer of the game SUZAKU.
Hello everyone, and happy halloween!
We're happy to say the 1.02 patch is now live, and we're also on sale for Halloween (and included in Valve's Halloween Sale Reel)!
Here are the patch notes for 1.02:
- Completely re-did the japanese localization and re-implemented it.
- Added more clear visual instructions for the hiding spot mini game
- Fixed an issue with an incorrectly tagged ghost photo (shinrei shashin) preventing the proper unlock of the fatal frames achievement.
- Improved controller/gamepad integration and stability.
- Fixed several visual glitches
- Fixed an issue where the toolbox puzzle in apartment 204 could not be closed.
- Further improved the stability of quick saves and auto-saves.
- Fixed a bug in which collecting certain items out of order on the 6th floor locks progression.
Please remember that if you have played the original demo, YOU MUST UNINSTALL THE DEMO and fully delete the files in this directory - C:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\LocalLow\Suzaku . If you do not do this before installing Sense, the game will not run correctly in most scenarios! Data from past patches on the other hand is fine and will not effect anything.
Furthermore the game is on sale at 25% for until November 2nd. We hope you are all enjoying Sense and that you all have a Happy Halloween!!!
Hi everyone,
We're happy to announce that SUZAKU launched the updated 1.1 build of the game now on Steam, based off of the user feedback the game has received over the past few days. A full changelog from the developers can be seen below:
CHANGES
- Adjusted the difficulty and interaction on the elevator sequence in the lobby.
- Added 14 autosave/checkpoint spots throughout the game
- Added an unlimited Quicksave function to the pause menu, allowing players to save at any time, Unless in the same room as a ghost, or during specific events.
- Due to the complexity and length of the game, utilizing this feature MAY cause unintended visual bugs or errors related to flag based animations or interactions. It may also cause progression bugs, so we highly recommend saving manually at save stations as well.
- Added a function to NG+ , which removes the quick save option for added challenge Hard mode
- Added a function to NG++, which removes both autosaving and quick saving, for the survival horror mode. Only manual/limited saving is available in New Game ++.
- Switched the A and B button functions on XBOX controllers
- Added A Journal item unlocked at start of game which has helpful tutorial notes on saving, the PDA, and the Taomu.
- Improved the visibility of Several ghosts in the later portions of the game.
- Removed logic chain conditions on several items so that they may be picked up right away, eliminating the more frustrating backtracking. (Note: this was only done on SOME items, not all of them in game)
- Added visual prompts to the balance board Minigame/puzzle on the 2nd floor.
- Changed the pause menu to ESC on PC, instead of enter. controller button is unchanged.
- Changed the interactions for the boiling water and melting lead interactions. The player must now pick up the items from the stoves, instead of automatically receive them. Also reduced the wait times on these interactions.
FIXES
- Fixed a bug in which Flags were not properly resetting when starting NG+, breaking NG+ only interactions and some events.
- This effected the elevator in the lobby as well and has been fixed
- Fixed some localization errors
- The how to play screen now displays in the correct language, as selected by the player.
- several typos and broken color tags have been corrected throughout the game and journals/flavor text
- Fixed a bug with a certain ghosts attack, in which a dialogue box would appear and freeze the game.
- Fixed a bug in NG++ in which a certain ghost would become invincible.
- fixed a bug in which text was not displaying properly on choice buttons
- Fixed a bug in which certain ghosts AI did not properly respond when changing scenes.
- Fixed a bug in which the QTE buttons were not perusable on KBM if a controller was plugged in
- Fixed a bug in which the camera was moving from out of bounds on scene loading.
- Fixed a bug in which the secret NG++ ending would not run.

Some older save data may not carry over to your new game (whether from 1.0 or from the older iterations of the Sense Demo), so it is recommended that you start a new game.
We hope that everyone who has supported Sense and given feedback, whether positively or negatively, will enjoy the game more now that this update has been rolled out. We will continue to collect feedback regarding the game to pass to SUZAKU. If you enjoy Sense and would like to support the developer, we encourage you to leave a review for the game. While the game's PC launch was not ideal, we thank everyone for their patience and hope you will enjoy 1.1
Hi everyone, Publisher here again, we're dropping in to give a quick update regarding the status of the game. The developers at SUZAKU have been hard at work on the patch, and have updated us with a significant amount of patch notes, changes, and fixes. However, before making it live, we wanted to take a bit of extra time to QA the build on our end as well. Secondly, you may have noticed despite our last update, the game remains on sale. We had reached out to Valve and requested they remove the game from sale, but unfortunately due to Steam policy, we were unable to do so. That said, the game remains on sale, but we added a new section to the homepage above the description for now, explaining the current state of the game. Thus, the game will remain on sale, but we still do not recommend buying it until the patch comes out. We are looking to get the patched version of the game out this week, likely by mid-week. We will have a full fix log posted here. However, for those wondering, among other fixes we have updated the save system, adding in both quicksaves and autosave checkpoints, fixed multiple controller/keyboard issues, fixed multiple interaction chains and bugs, fixed the elevator sequence, added additional tutorials & prompts. and fixed numerous bugs throughout the game. We will release a full list when we push the patch. Thank you again to everyone who has continued to stick by the game despite the launch issues. We hope that the upcoming patch will better the game for you. We hope we will see you again when the patch launches later this week.
Hello everyone, This is the publisher here, just relaying a message from the developer, Suzaku. Please read below:
This morning after looking at player feedback and negative reviews from over night, we came to a hard decision with our publisher Top Hat Studios to temporarily pull Sense from sale until the apparent design issues and bugs can be fixed and adjusted. We have contacted Valve to facilitate this, and this should be done within the next 24 hours. The Steam page will remain up. This is pretty crushing for us in a lot of ways, but we are doing what we think is right. Although this is a monetary hit, we have decided the game is not up to par with what we expected to ship, and that QA feedback rounds did not fully reflect player experiences. When we set out to make the game, I wanted to make a game in the method of old school survival horror titles like Fatal Frame , Resident Evil, and most importantly Clock Tower. This meant very limited saves, deep exploration, repeated trial and error, punishing deaths, and a reliance on careful reading and planning your actions are the things; things I find engaging about those older titles. I wanted to bring those aspects back first and foremost. At this point it is pretty clear that I failed to do those systems justice and in adhering to these design tenets made the game too frustratingly hard. While most of the minor bugs and issues can be fixed easily, we realize gameplay chains and systems cannot. However, we can add tools to help smooth out these issues, and make the game better for everyone involved. Sense will return to sale on PC once everything has been fixed with an update to version 1.1. It will contain, in the very least the following fixes: - The resolution settings bug has been fixed. Your chosen settings will now save and not reset when opening the menu or moving the window to alternate monitors. - The method for escaping in the elevator on the first ghost event in the lobby will have its failure state removed, forcing the elevator to open by the ghosts proximity. You will no longer need to spam the interact button to succeed. - We are adding defaykt journal items with clear explanations of controls, saving, use of the sword, and other apparently confusing aspects. These will be unlocked and in the journal tab from the beginning of the game, and the player will be prompted to check them. - We will either add an auto save/checkpoint at the beginning of each floor, OR allow quick saving anywhere from the main menu. We will keep the tapes/save stations as is for people who want to try the challenge of limited saves. We have not decided which option is best, but are leaning towards quick save. - the death screen audio bug has been resolved. - the Sweet Home achievement not unlocking has been resolved. - the esc key now brings up the pause menu instead of enter. - we are also looking into various reported smaller interaction chain bugs which were not found in QA Separately, we have also discovered a problem related to save data corruption that occurs if you have save data from the old demo which has now been removed. If you have already purchased Sense and have yet to play, but played the demo. Please make sure that you delete any files related to the demo before playing the full game as it causes some strange issues with flags in the early game. We apologize for this. Thank you to everyone who showed up on day 1 and gave us feedback. I am personally sorry that our launch stumbled like this and hope that you will give the game another chance once we get this update out. I especially am sorry to backers to whom may have been disappointed by this launch. I take responsibility for this and apologize. We will fix this, as we want players to know we care about their experience with the game. For those wondering or worried about console releases, this will not affect anything related to console nor physicals. Our console releases will launch with these things fixed. This also does not effect the PSVita release or timeline.
This has been a hard decision but we want to do what's right. We realize many players are disappointed and it feels unfair for us to continue to sell the game knowing that, until these issues can be mended. Both us and Suzaku believe players are at the forefront of the industry and do not feel it is right to continue to sell the game while this happens. We are disappointed ourselves in this but we know it is the right thing to do. While the game is still for sale as of posting this, we've contacted Valve to temporarily pull sales. It will be reinstated once everything is fixed and we can QA the game once more. We encourage you to follow the game with the "follow" button to be notified of its re-release. Please note if you have bought or redeemed the game this will not affect anything. You will still be able to play the game.
Hello everyone! We are happy to announce that Sense is out, and the game is now available for release! It's been a long journey and we're glad we made it to this point. We hope you all will enjoy the game - it's been quite the ride and we're happy to finally be sharing this moment with everyone. The game will run at a 10% discount for the next week. As you play, be sure to leave any feedback, and be sure to leave a review if you enjoy the game! Reviews help us significantly. ------- ----
Hello everyone!
We are just dropping in to let everyone know we are releasing tomorrow, 8/25 at 10AM EST (7AM PST).
We are very excited to be sharing Sense with everyone after a long, multi-year journey into development. The game has been tested on Windows, OSX, and Linux, and is playable in English, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Japanese, and Russian.
We hope you all will enjoy the game! See you all tomorrow!
Hello everyone, We're happy to announce that a week from today, on August 25th, we will be releasing Sense: A Cyberpunk Ghost Story on PC, Mac, and Linux through Steam. We have a brand new launch trailer, showing off the game, a stark contrast from the old alpha shown in the old trailer: [previewyoutube=Mb4bxBdXgMg;full][/previewyoutube] You also may have noticed we added more screenshots as well as updated the steam banner art with new promos. We hope you will all enjoy the game when it comes out, we will be posting more leading up to launch. Thank you for sticking around and we hope you will enjoy it on its release.
Hello everyone, Publisher here. Unfortunately, we've heard from the dev team the intended June release date is no longer viable because of some things that have occurred in QA. We've taken a look at the build ourselves, we agree it would be better to postpone the game until it can go through a few more QA cycles. While is content complete, we are uncomfortable rushing to release a game whose QA cycles would not be completed until the last minute. The good news is, however, that the game will now release alongside the console iterations of the game, and will also launch in an even more polished state. The developer has written their own public update regarding their thoughts on the delay here: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/2030067069/project-sense-a-cyberpunk-ghost-story/posts/2813448 We apologize for the inconvenience. As of now, the game is now scheduled for August rather than June. This will be the finalized release window for the game. We hope to see you all then!
Hello everyone!
Hope everyone is doing well. Today we have a very exciting update, we're going to be talking about the upcoming release of the game! We know a lot of people are looking forward to the game - believe me, so are we!
Currently, we are on track to finish the game before the summer, While we do not have a specific date yet, we are looking for a late May-early June release date, more likely within the first few days of June. We are extremely excited to be rolling the game out! For those wondering, this is specifically the PC version - console editions of the game will release shortly after the PC version.
We are hoping to be able to launch with Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Russian, and Japanese. The script is currently being edited and will enter translation ASAP. We do want to launch with Latin American Spanish but are unsure of it will reach the deadline - in case it does not, we are planning to still offer it in a future patch.
In the mean time, here are some screenshots:
We hope to see everyone in June! Thank you to everyone for your support. Let us know if you have any questions!

Sense - : A Cyberpunk Ghost Story Depot [775.23 M]
Sense - 不祥的预感: A Cyberpunk Ghost Story is a 2.5D game inspired by Clock Tower and Fatal Frame. With careful attention to pacing, atmosphere and storytelling, Sense hopes to return the horror genre to its roots; celebrating the slow, fearful creep of dread instead of relying on over the top action and jump scares. The ghosts - as glitches on our reality - act as spiritual and paranormal threats, not monsters to be killed. The horror of our story comes from atmosphere and storytelling, not loud sound and artificial effects.
In 2083 Neo Hong Kong, a young woman named Mei-Lin Mak is dragged into a maelstrom of supernatural horror. As she peers deeper into a century old mystery, Mei will be forced to question her perception of reality and whether she trusts her cybernetic eyes. Under the neon lights of a cyberpunk dystopia, the ruins of the 'Chong Sing Apartments' hides a bloody mystery illuminated by both the traditions of Chinese folklore, and the innovations of the industrial future. If there is any hope of escaping this nightmare, Mei-Lin must explore this complex, piecing together the stories of 14 lost souls, and discover the truth of her own family curse.
The player will need to search and examine every nook and cranny of the world around them in order to progress. Some items may not be visible until specific chains are completed, and some items may be hidden from Mei's cybernetic eyes at all times, as if spirited away by the ghosts stalking her. Some may require quick wit - and have urgent consequences.
NPCs will be heavily populating a few areas of the full game, but there may be some wandering the halls with you. Talking to them can reveal information about the world, the mystery at hand, and even some unexpected secrets.
Some interactions require a closer look, zooms allow for a different view of items, areas, and puzzles. Make sure to search every inch.
The world of Sense is huge and complex, each location will reveal details about Neo-Hong Kong and the surrounding world. From Geo-Politics to inter-character relationships, don't be afraid to click on anything that looks interesting.
The ghosts of the Chung Sing building can hurt you, but can you hurt them? Short answer is no, but you can help them pass on. Shrines, offerings, and solving mysteries will be your only weapons.
The 14 lost souls of the Chung Sing building are not the only spirits lurking the halls. Dozens of hidden ghost photos fill the locations of Sense. Finding them all may reveal a secret!
Like all the best games, failure and mistakes should be punished, but in a heavily narrative game how do you do that? How do you promote stakes and risk? The answer is simple, fill the world with dangerous events and deadly spirits. Just make sure to record your progress at the occasional TV, there are NO checkpoints or autosaves in the Chung Sing building.
Sense will be filled with secrets, only some of them will be revealed in a single play through. Some secrets wont be able to escape the spirit realm until the "Plus" appears
