Happy Winter Holidays!
The new year is just around the corner, and BZZZT has been with us for exactly one year and one month. During that time, I released 12 updates and 3 major ones.
This update, the last 2024 one, focuses on community feedback, suggestions, and bug reports.
Here is the complete list of changes:
The most important feature of this update is that the game has been fully localized into Japanese. Thank you, Kohei Takara!!!
Also, the Japan version of BZZZT received a very cool subtitle: - Bazubotto! (BuzzBot).
That makes this localization the eleventh one!
If you have any friends in Japan, please let them know to try the game. Thank you!!!
- Fixed projectile interpolations. All projectiles have stable velocity now. - Added Turkish localization - Better double jump detection near traps. - Dashing through teleport fix. - The mirrored dash particle in one bonus stage is fixed now. - Levels competition counting two bonus stages with zero trophy time.
Hello!
I am happy to announce that the third free content update is live now!
This update closes the core game loop: Collecting bolts and trophies finally has its purpose. You can unlock 25 new stages with them.
I hope you will find this update entertaining!

"Bonus Stages" Update contains:
- 24 new levels unlockable by bolts and trophies.
- The soundtrack with 25 music tracks can be played at an interactive discotheque level.
- Gallery of 50 animated and static sprites used in the game.
- Cute "dancing robot" animation when the level is finished in the flawless run.
- Difficulty tweaks.
- Improved performance.
- Minor fixes and translation tweaks.
Together with that, the BZZZT game is now participating in the BitSummit event in Kyoto, Japan. You can also try a new version there and chat about the game with Lukas from CINEMAX Publishing.
Have a great weekend!

The creator of the BZZZT game.
Hello everyone!
I am happy to announce the new content update for my BZZZT game,
which is mostly dedicated to the VERY EASY mode.
This game mode was carefully designed for kids, their parents, and anyone wanting to enjoy the BZZZT game without intense challenges.
You can now train your platformer skills at newly redesigned levels with fewer traps, enemies, and other hazards while still being able to collect trophies.
Together with that, I have implemented the following changes:
Hi everyone, I am happy to announce the new and free Challenge Chips content update 1.1 is live now. Let's celebrate this moment with a 40% discount here on Steam! [previewyoutube=o1Es_bkPBiw;full][/previewyoutube]
"Quick Restart" and "Quick Next Level" (when pressed together) are fixed now.
Hello!
The most complex change I had to make was to optimize the game and FPS drops reported by players. It took some time, but I hope it is way better now - together with testers, we did not observe any performance drops.
Wow! That's amazing!
My solo-developed BZZZT game made it into the final round of INDIE OF THE YEAR 2023 at IndieDB, and it's fighting for first place in the Platformers Category!
I need your support now more than ever before. Click the TOP 100 banner button on the IndieDB page and vote for BZZZT.

BZZZT is out for one week, and it has 100% very positive reviews from 150 players! What a fantastic achievement!!! And because you love the game so much, I have added the game to Steam Award Nominations for the "Best Game You Suck At" category. :) Yes, I could use the "Best Soundtrack" or "Outstanding Visual Style" categories, but I feel "Best Game You Suck At" is the perfect one. Please help me with voting to make BZZZT the most "just one more round and I am going to sleep" game. Thank you! Karel Matejka aka KO.DLL Solo developer behind BZZZT game. Bzzzt game is now fully tested on Steam Deck, and with native Linux support, it runs perfectly and smoothly on this device.
For the best experience, I suggest playing that at 60FPS and removing the framerate cap.
A cross-platform cloud system is implemented for saves, allowing players to play the game on multiple devices without losing progress.
Look at these vibrant colours!!!
Some minor fixes:
Hello, dear gamers!
After four years of hard work, I am thrilled to announce that the game is finally finished, and you can buy it right now with a time-limited 10% discount.
Players' reactions are super positive - 100% positive out of 30 user reviews in the first 15 hours!!!!
Thank you very much for that!!!
I am right now entirely focused on implementing the cutscenes. All texts are inside the game and ready for proofreading and translation.
Together with polishing the game, I have implemented one huge game-changer feature!
Global&Friends Leaderboards!
YAY!!!
Every stage now has a score counted from collected bolts and finished time. And Easy mode has a new silver trophy implemented. All of that is being reflected in leaderboards.
I truly hope you will find this feature entertaining.
And as a bonus, I have prepared a short compilation of stages from the full game.
Enjoy it!!!

Hello gamers,
First, thank you very much for your support during and after the NEXT FEST! It was breathtaking!
Today, I would love to share some info about BZZZT development. There has been a lot coming in the last two months.
All special abilities are implemented. There are 5 of them - one for each world. It means a player can unlock them continuously by using upgrading machines.
Together with that, I had to expand the number of levels from 60 to 60. I did it because ten levels per world did not allow me to introduce new gameplay features and traps fluently enough. So, right now, the learning curve should be less aggressive.
[previewyoutube=Z6c2OnZQUwE;full][/previewyoutube]
I have changed the native resolution of the game. Players can see more of the environment around them now. It allows them to react to deadly traps in advance, and previously unexpected traps and enemies hidden behind the edge of the screen are now fairer.
I have increased the main character's walking speed by 10% - the game is now more dynamic.
I am starting to implement cutscenes and other story animations. It can be seen in this video:
[previewyoutube=HgBrK03qjOw;full][/previewyoutube]
Ane even more - Luckily, I saved some time and added some environmental animations to the game. They are not essential, but I feel the game environment can be more living with that.
Grass & Butterflies interaction (YOUTUBE Short).
I am also doing some playtests and tweaking current levels based on players' feedback. It is enjoyable to observe other players playing my game.
That's all so far.
Thanks a lot for your great support and feedback on social media pages!

BZZZT game is taking part in the Steam Next Fest event this week together with other amazing incoming games and will be holding a developer stream with rare footage of the non-public game version!!! I will be playing a game together with my friend & publisher, and we will try to beat some time challenges in demo stages and never-before-seen stages as well! We'll also be doing a live Q&A. Hope to see you there!!!
Maybe you already know that, but the BZZZT game is being developed by one humble artist (me) and one excellent music composer, Martin Linda. With this project, I wanted to pay tribute to all the much-loved games from the '80s, which I grew on, and they were the main reason I started making games. So, one day I said to myself: "Wouldn't it be cool to time travel back to the golden era of arcade games and enjoy it again?" And that day, my indie journey started! It was the beginning of BZZZT development!!! And because there isn't an army of community managers behind me, I am sharing my solo-dev progress across social media alone. You can find me & my pixel art together with the Bzzzt development on the following platforms:
Norbert, Emily and ZX8000 from Bzzzt game would love to wish you a merry Christmas and a happy new year!!! And I can only add the following:
Hello, gamers! Czech&Slovak Games Week is here again!!! Check it out because there are listed super great games made in the country I am from, and many of them are made by my former colleagues. Together with that, I am happy to announce the Bzzzt game is there as well, with a world premiere trailer showing new environments and mechanics. As a bonus, I have recorded a small introduction about Bzzzt - only for the bravest watchers! :) [previewyoutube=gjBQsZWZJnY;full][/previewyoutube] The full CZ&SK GamesWeek Showcase is here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8tPTVEJybFU
Indie Game Expo 2022 + Game Developers Session is over and I am happy to announce the Bzzzt game won 2 awards out of 6 - Best Game Design and Indie Community Vote Award!!!
I was presenting there a very special first-time-seen version with unlocked abilities and it was a huge success.
[previewyoutube=FURtxpufKB4;full][/previewyoutube]
My gratulations go to all other indie games presented there during the last two days. And I would love to thank all of you for helping me to make the game better, more balanced and polished!!!
List of fixes & improvements:
Designing boss fights when the player does not have any weapons could be quite challenging. How I dealt with that can be visible in this video. [previewyoutube=viPac0BN7D0;full][/previewyoutube]
A lot of people asked me to share with them some info about the Bzzzt game and I was trying to be as mysterious as possible - it was caused mainly because I did not want to ruin players' first impressions from playing the full game - after the release
But maybe I can uncover a few, not story-related details. So I have decided to write down a short summary of what I feel the Bzzzt game is about:
The game is highly inspired by the late '80s when I started to make games. But I did not want to make it super retro - I just want to create something that will reflect that era and how we remember it nowadays (with rainbow glasses)
Maybe the game will be shorter - only 50 levels - but I want to have it really polished - from precise controls to great-looking art and animations. And shorter means I am trying to make it accessible to not skilled players as well as for players who love games like Super Meat Boy or Celeste - for them, there are prepared some more challenging modes and records to achieve - I feel, with that the game has really strong replayability value. So it is possible to finish the game in 3 hours, but to collect all the trophies players will need to invest much more time into that.
The game is not about killing enemies. It means the player has no weapons. Your main goal is "just" to reach an exit in every room while jumping over the traps and enemies.
I know that only jumping does not stand too long to be fun so I have added there 5 special abilities on top of that - double jump, dash, sliding on magnetic walls, swimming and transferring a robotic body into an energy form. I will be sharing videos illustrating all game features soon.
As I said at the beginning I would not talk about the story for now because I feel it is really strong and I don't want to make some unnecessary spoilers.
Dear players,
With community help, I have found and fixed a really ugly bug causing the demo was not playable in China, Japan, Korea, Philippines and other countries with a specific timezone format.
Now the demo should be playable all over the world without any exceptions.
Thank you very much for your awesome help and patience.
I wish you a pleasant time while playing Bzzzt!
