Thank you everyone who played Joyspring during our launch! The dev team was hard at work going through your feedback and implementing fixes and changes. Our most important addition is controller support, but due to our small dev team size, we only had remote access to an xbox one controller and a ps4 dualshock controller. Please keep in mind that because of this, controller support is an experimental feature. We recommend using wired over wireless for improved stability and compatibility. If your controller is still not working, try changing the "Override for Joyspring" setting in Properties > Controller to "Disable Steam Input." Here's a complete list of what we did:
- Added experimental controller support
- Fixed infinite slide sound effect bug
- Made moving platform dots more obvious and made them show up in background layer
- Added blobs in level 25 to prevent crushing
- Made level 44 more fair
- Fixed zoom in level 12
- Made cutscenes skippable with any key or button press
- Other small bug fixes and performance improvements

Hey everyone, we, a ragtag group of high schoolers and rising college freshman, are proud to announce the full release of our free title, Joyspring! Joyspring is a 2D story-driven platformer that explores themes of perseverance, hope, and despair. If you're looking for nice pixel art, precision-based platforming, or philosophical (existentialist) dialogue, this is the game! Plus, it's free, and it's shortperfect for a chill afternoon at home. We hope you enjoy! To give credit where credit's due, our game was made by Will Liang, Ben Tomlin, Sean Wang, William Peng, Shawn Duan, Colin Zhang, Brian Lee, Alexander Haga, and Calder Jones, with help from the wonderful comments on Godot's forums. Our game was inspired by Celeste, Night in the Woods, and Journey.

Hello everyone!
Hope your day is going well. Here at Studio Heart Engine, we've poured countless hours into our passion project, and today, we're releasing our demo in the Steam Next Fest! We're incredibly proud of our creation, and we hope you will like it too.
Much like other indie titles, we sought to put a twist on a common genre. In Joyspring, you jump between platforms--but at the same time, you shift between 2D layers. What appears as the background is actually another playable part of the level, often times serving as an essential part of Riley's journey. This mechanic introduces a new depth to platforming, and we hope you enjoy its many intricacies!
ASCEND the peak, and find the Joyspring!
