Hey everyone, I've just released a very short, free game set in the world of The Slaughter. Enjoy! https://store.steampowered.com/app/1639760/The_Slaughter_Magdalene/
Hey!
The Slaughter: Act Two is back in development after a couple of years on hold.
As I've mentioned in the past, The Slaughter is a passion project made entirely by one person, and far from anything that will ever make money from, it costs more to make than it earns so I can't focus on it full time, lest I be living on the streets. I am however back to working on it in my spare time, which relives a lot of pressure and gives me the freedom to make it as abstract and insane as I like, without worrying about potential lost sales.
I'm not a big poster in the discussions as they fill me with anxiety, it does make me frustrated when people assume the game will never be completed, despite me never saying this, so follow me on twitter for updates on Act Two as it's where I'm striving to be most active @thebrained
I've not been a big sharer or work-in-progress in the past, but am going to make an effort to do so with Act Two, without apporaching spoiler territory.
Thanks,
Alex
For those of you wanting to sample the world of The Slaughter before you fully commit to being a citizen of the seedy streets of Victorian London, a demo is now available featuring the game's first chapter!

Hello ladies and gents! The highly divisive mini-game Shove Ha'Penny has had a big update! The physics of the game have been tweaked to be far more realistic. Where previously pennies would collide and continue sliding together, now energy is transferred from one penny to another, meaning that when one penny hits another the first penny stops almost immediately, while the second shoots off. It really changes the feel of the game, making it a lot more enjoyable and instinctive as the physics are true to life. The game can now only be quit on your turn when playing a non-player opponent. When I initially designed the game it didn't have a quit button, which meant you had to play until the end of each game. As some of you may know, your opponent is set to give you an item if you lose 3 times to him to ensure players never get completely stuck. However since adding a quit button, many players are quitting when it becomes apparent that they'll lose. This doesn't count as a loss and means they could end up playing indefinitely, which isn't very fun! My hope is that hiding the quit button when it's the opponents turn will help reduce this. A few bug fixes here and there too. I'll be releasing the update for Mac and Linux tomorrow, toodles.

Linux users can now enter the the decadent and depraved world of The Slaughter: Act One, travelling back to the grimy streets of Victorian London in search of a killer, and all from the comfort of your own computer box! Trading cards and emoticons should now be unlocking correctly too! Now I'm off to work on the Mac release. Please do let me know if you run into any trouble getting things running smoothly, and I'll do my best to help ːnutzː

Hey! I've released a new patch! I wasn't too happy with a lot of the sound effect mixing, so I remixed them all, changing the levels, adding reverb and more. Now all sounds should feel more at home in their environment. I've also added the option to quit a game of Shove Ha'Penny at any time, though I have no intentions of adding the option to skip it altogether. Other small changes include faster walk speeds, a couple of new visual effects in the prologue scene, and a couple of bug fixes. Thanks everyone :D
